I've never taken the time to Yelp before but I really wanted to recognize an employee who made my experience wonderful and will ensure that I will visit again. My husband and I decided to try this restaurant this weekend. It was pretty quaint and the exterior reminded me of an old Western saloon. Our server's name was Trevor and he was so friendly and both looked and acted so professional. He took the time to list the specials to us and pleasantly answered any questions we had about the menu. I got the fettuccine Alfredo which was delicious but I thought the portion was a bit small for the price, my husband ordered the prime rib which he enjoyed. What really made the experience was our server. Trevor was always so polite and friendly in his interactions with us, he seemed knowledgeable about the menu and he took the time to check on us without being pushy or making us feel rushed even though he had other tables to take care of. If the owner or manager checks these reviews, you have a wonderful employee in Trevor and he is the reason we will come back in the future. My husband and I tipped him well but more importantly I think his boss should know they have a very special employee in him. He never seemed like he was just "doing his job" but that he was happy to be taking care of us and concerned that we had a great experience. read more

Love this place. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. We have been regular customers for about 1.5 years. Sometimes we have dinner and a cocktail or occasionally we go in on the weekend for breakfast. I love the friendly, laid-back, home town, non-corporate atmosphere. It was specials night on Friday. ordered the seafood risotto and my wife Got the prim rib small order. Man that prime rib was huge at least 16-17oz my risotto was too big to finish the whole plate is seafood with just enuff risotto . Fresh bread , nice waitresses, great drinks at bar in the next room . And you sometimes see the neighborhood dog at the front door. Everytime we come here it just gets better. read more

First time for dinner here... They always have good lunches and now I can say they have really good dinners too. Good salads, soup and the steaks were good.. The staff from the bar tender to the waitresses were all friendly and helpful. BTW they have a an old fashioned well stocked bar with ice cold beers... The only thing I can complain about is when I was asked what I wanted on my baked potatoe? I asked what they had and the waitress said. Butter, sour cream, cheese, and bacon. I said throw it all on. When the bill came. I was charged .50 for the cheese and the same for the bacon... I could care less about the xtra dollar but I felt it was just a sneaky way to squeeze another buck out of you... We had exemplary service from Patricia. She was incredible and treated us like family coming to her home. We had two small dogs and she set a special table for the 4 of us on the grass in their patio area. The Teriyaki Chicken Salad with the Honey Mustard dressing was to die for. Kids wanted to eat here after hearing the ghost stories. Food was outstanding and service was even better. Jaime was our server and she made our dining experience amazing. We ordered calamari, salmon, cheese burger, chicken strips and steak. All was cooked perfectly! This will definitely be our new spot. food is really good with really large sized portions. My recommendation would be to split a plate if you're going with a date. Fridays are prime rib night which is excellent with the horseradish and au jue sauce. mashed potatoes are to die for but stay away from the baked potatoes they tend to get a little over baked. Saturday and Sunday breakfasts are really good as well. highly recommend this spot for good food priced reasonably!! read more

Went on Friday night so we could get the 'famous' prime rib. Well, not too good in our opinions, all 3 of us had it. Looked and tasted like it had been boiled in water, altho the waitress claimed not. Did not look ANYTHING like the 3/18/2016 review/picture below. The 'special' mashed potatoes were like the meat, pretty tasteless. Good salads/dressings, bread, and vegetables. They comped us one dinner so I can't complain too much but we likely won't be going again. I did leave a very nice tip though, can't complain about the service. read more

Been going to Banta Inn for years and loved it. Tonight, it was so bad that I had to come home and give my review. We were a party of 6 and made reservations for tonight. Nothing was set up for us and they didn't seem to know anything about our reservation. Had to redo tables to accommodate us. Waitress was awful - don't think she wanted to be there. Took orders wrong and made one of us feel like it was our fault. Food was not good. I used to rave about their club sandwiches and mine tonight was awful. Soggy bread and the potato salad was the worst I've ever had. Took it home for my dogs. Waitress never asked if we wanted dessert - just brought the bill. I think she was as glad to see us go as we were to leave. Hopefully one day they will be the Banta Inn that I knew and loved but in the meantime, there are other places in Tracy. read more

Went on a Thursday night. Walked through huge mud puddles in the parking lot. It REALLY needs to be re-paved. What a bloody mess. Not very busy, but it took quite a while to get our menus... VERY LIMITED MENU. No imagination shown, it was the very basic dishes that require no skills from the kitchen, which is good as our food showed that there wasn't any skills in the kitchen, LOL What wasn't funny was how tough and flavorless our prime-rib and rib-eye steaks were. The prime rib was so bad I couldn't even eat it. When the meal was over our waitress came over to ask if we wanted dessert. She looked down and saw my uneaten meal, and didn't even ask me if anything was wrong! Wow ! It was also not funny when the fifty + dollar ($50+) bill arrived. FELT RIPPED OFF. I WOULD NOT COME BACK TO THIS DUMP ! I told my husband on the ride home I wish we had gone to the Weinershintzels instead... P.S. Their salads are made out of ice-berg lettuce (no nutrients) and topped off with kidney beans and raisins, yuck. read more

I ate at the Banta Inn on Sunday, March 4, 2012, after hearing all these great things about the food. I was soooooo disappointed, we ordered burgers and the ribeye steak sandwich..first started with fried mushrooms..which were still cold and not cooked..then came french onion soup..really bad..no bread or cheese on top..next came our main entree..the steak was so thin it resembled carna asada..terrible..the burger came on a sandwich roll..no bun..it came with just meat..no lettace...onions, tomatoes...did get a pickle spear...my onion rings were so burnt they were stuck together..needless to say $64.00 later...what a sad meal...will never go back...waitress was nice...so you people that ate their recently, I guess you were lucky, we weren't. read more

Went here last week for my dad's birthday and I was very happy with the experience. It was a large party with they happily accommodated and they also served the cake we brought which I thought was very nice. Our waitress was great! She was attentive and friendly and made sure we always had what we needed. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich and it was so good. The tri-tip was juicy and full of flavor. My cousin ordered the chicken picatta and unfortunately she did not enjoy it but the waitress let her order something else and took that off the bill and in addition did not charge her for the new item which I thought was a very nice gesture. The place is quaint and homey which is exactly the kind of restaurant I prefer, The only thing I can say the I do not like is the menu does not have alot to choose from. Other than that the place is great and the food they do have is really good. I recommend trying it. It has a friendly small town atmosphere with great food. read more

My husband always order's food to go. I have never been inside so my review is on food only. The burgers are delicious. My husband kept going on and on about how good the burgers where. I give this place a 5 star, I had about 40 biker- friends here for dinner on 12/11/10 to celebrate my up-coming wedding. Food was awesome! We all were going to go dancing after dinner but the D.J. and Karokee started and we never left, most of us stayed till closing. We all had a blast, drinks were great, dancing and singing was so much fun. I still have people telling me how much fun they had and what a great place this was. Found this place on Yelp, Took myself and my service dog their to try it out. I am recently new to California and love to find places to take others, so I thought why not. I was greeted warmly upon arrival, and seeing the locals, it felt great and calmed me down knowing the small town atmosphere still thrived. My waitress was very pleasant, smiling and having knowledge of certain subjects that kinda shocked me so that in it self raised the bar higher for this place. The food was on point, just the way it should be, timely and delicious. For two drinks and lunch with tip came to a 20, so still in no hurry, which most restaurants are doing to revolve tables, I left with a satisfaction that I could come back with others wether on my bike or with my service dog and other vets with their service dogs I encourage if your around this area stop by and eat, drink and enjoy the small town atmosphere. read more
