Chili Relleno omelette with a side of fresh berries and sourdough bread.
    Tony A.

NARRATIVE: My son, who had not been to El Bistro told me it was on his bucket list to try. So, on the 19th of March 2026, I took him to lunch so he could give them a try. I went with something different this time since I thought my last review may have been too critical, thinking it may have been what I ordered that didn't tickle my fancy. On the recommendation of our server who was a fantastic kid, I ordered their Chili Rellenos omelette with a side of fresh fruit. My son also going off our servers recommendation went with one of their signature Chilaquiles dishes. Again, I have to say my meal was just okay. Even though the presentation is one for the books, the flavors or should I say flavorless is just bland. No real seasoning or flavors, just safe. My son also mentioned the same about his lunch. RECOMMENDATION(S): Again, the food is NOT bad, it's just bland. If my review were based solely on the servers and the food presentations, I'd say the place is a must. But if you want a good and flavorful lunch, I'd pass.

Service was great, even though very busy. Sandwich better than 1 quesataco. Per my son, chile was very chewy & tough. Loud inside, but really hot outside.

This is the 4th time we have been here. They opened a couple years ago and they are only getting better. They finally have their liquor license so you can have a mimosas w/ brunch now. All of the items never disappoint. They have their main location in Modesto and additional locations in Carmel

    Chilaquiles Habanero 10/10!

Same clean and modern vibes as their Modesto location, although it seems slightly smaller if I'm not mistaken. A lot of florals hanging from the ceiling adds a nice touch. The booths were slightly uncomfortable, but not completely unbearable. But Just keep that in mind. They also have outdoor patio seating available. Parking: They have a parking lot but it is way too small for this place. We had to park two blocked down in the neighborhood, and we saw a few people do the same. (we all walked in the same direction to the restaurant) Service: Our waitress was kindly greeted us and checked on us after our food arrived, to ensure we had everything we needed/ordered. Food: Arrived alarmingly fast, especially since it was packed. We received our dishes less than five minutes after ordering. This made me skeptical and nervous that the food was going to be rushed and not good. However, that was not the case. All our dishes were deliciously flavorful, and our messy was cooked beautifully. The skillet dish my friend ordered came with corn tortillas that appeared and tasted homemade. Overall, this a great place for brunch. I'm not sure if they accept reservations. But if they do I highly recommend for larger parties as it always seems to be packed.

Cute restaurant and fun variety on the menu. This could be a 5 star but every time we come here the service is lacking. Wait both times has been over 5 minutes before someone acknowledges you standing at the entrance where you are to wait for the host all while about 5 employees make eye contact and say nothing or even attempt a polite smile. Both times I've been have been on weekdays when there weren't many other patrons. First time was when they first opened and was to be expected while they figure out the flow. Went a few weeks ago and unfortunately that part has not changed. If you don't mind waiting, food is pretty good.

My mom took me out for a birthday lunch and I have been wanting to try El Bistro for awhile. We had such a great experience. The inside is so cute. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious. Will definitely be coming back.

I've been here twice since my last review. The first visit was with a friend, and we sat outside on the patio. It was really nice and we enjoyed our meal. The orange juice was fresh, and my friend had an iced latte with brown sugar on the side. Our server was very kind and checked in on us often. We didn't feel rushed and were able to catch up, at least for most of the visit. Toward the end, though, we got the hint that they wanted us to leave when they lowered the umbrella that had been blocking us from the sun. The second visit was with a group of friends. They were busier, and since it was cold outside, we sat indoors. We were a group of 3 and our server was great. However, once we finished eating, and saw us just chatting, we were told they needed the table because people were waiting. I understand they were busy, but it did cut our time short, especially since some of my friends had driven quite a distance from the bay. Overall, the food and service have been good, but this isn't the place to plan a long catch-up session, especially during busy times.

Food amazing friendly and fast. Busy brunch at 11:30am on a weekday. I had a torta with salad and side of fries with mimosas. We came for a little drink so we didn't order much food since we shared. Great place to chat and catch up with friends and family. We sat outside it was such a beautiful day. Server was so friendly and everything came out so fast.

I came here for my birthday brunch. The birria burger was delicious but I would recommend this for 2 persons because it is very filling. The surf and turf burrito was just okay there was a lack of flavor and just tasted like rice and beans. The peach mimosa was delicious! The service was good, we came during a moderate busy morning during a weekday. The ambiance was filled with lots of families and friends eating together! I would definitely come back to try something new since they have a lot of options on their menu.

Starting with the parking lot it's very small had to park on the street. Walking in it's also small but cute. The service was very good. We ordered mimosas and I got the breakfast burrito that was amazing ! And the French toast to share that was equally amazing. I will be returning.

open spaces , white walls and good music playing. our server steven was great , asked his recommendations and they were spot on ! the food was delicious and came out quick. good size portions. french toast oh yes and the bowl was nice and flavorful and carnitas were not dry. we will definitely be back again to try more items.

Cafe bombon $4, espresso with condensed milk

The French toast is excellent. Chilaquiles and other plates are beautiful but the taste is just ok compared to the price. With the average price of the dishes at $20-25, the seating is narrow, the place is crowded and it is hard to hear with the chatter of the crowd. Server and host was kind. For the price and the wait and the crowd and the quality of food, I give this place a lower rating than others.

    Chorizo breakfast burrito

First the remodel of the interior is perfect. With the exception of the booths. Seating area is a bit thin. Had to move to a table to sit comfortably. Service was extremely good and well deserving of a large tip. On to the food: wife had one of the specialty waffles and even though the flavor of the waffle was very good it was under done. Needs about another minute to crisp up the outside properly. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito. Flavor was very good. Especially that chorizo. You can tell that they put a bed of cheddar on the flat top and lay the tortilla on top until it melts and gets a little crisp and attached. Then they put the whisked eggs onto the heat and flip the tortilla on top of the cooking eggs to get them to bond to the tortilla too. Complete the filling roll and serve. Cute idea and looks very nice. To make it so thick they put a lot of potato. Could use a little less potato and a bit more egg that isn't connected to the tortilla. Maybe scrambled and cooked with the chorizo. But I'll come here again. There are other items on the menu I'd want to try too.

Everything looks the same and the same friendly atmosphere resides. Service is always awesome, and so is the food. This time we both chose the fish and chips lunch which includes 3 good sized pieces of batter dipped fish, and perfectly crispy fries. It was all great. Prior visit - This is a great little place to be for a meal. Totally unassuming from the street and even when you walk up, as it is in a small strip business center off of 11th Street. When I walked in for lunch, I was immediately greeted by a guy behind the bar (which is right at the door) with a smile. I proceeded upstairs to the clean and comfortable 'loft' and grabbed a table along the window so I could see out. The interior is clean and simple, open first floor to second floor ceiling. Great music playing, and just a nice vibe all the way around. Andrea, came by with a smile and greeting, asked if I had any questions, and headed off with my order. I didn't get the bartender's name, but he was just as attentive and super nice, as he came upstairs to my table and described some of the beers he currently has available. Small batch craft beers are good. . . Food: The menu is not so 'typical' as you get to select your protein, the sauce or spice for that protein, then your carb, and your veggie (or make it a salad). Nice choices too. My chicken with Korean BBQ sauce, beer batter fries and grilled Brussels sprouts was good, especially the sprouts. My chicken was on the dry side, but I have a feeling it may have been due to the fact they were managing a party of 15 as well as all the other patrons while I was there. A bit hectic for two people to keep up that pace. I definitely recommend coming to the Upper Room.

I was trying to figure out what to do for our daughter's 13th birthday that wasn't too "little kid" themed and thought maybe we could do an early dinner before your typical crowd comes in. When I looked at your website it was like it was meant to be that ON her birthday you were having your special event. It was perfect. Food- she still prefers her safe food so her meal was the Golden Arches ;) but thank you for letting us bring it in for her. For mom and dad- this time instead of just appetizers we opted for an appetizer (garlic bread), and two main dishes: the pernil and the creamy chicken pasta. Everything was delicious. My husband took one bite of the pernil and I heard him say "oh yeah" lol. My chicken pasta was flavorful and had plenty of veggies and chicken and the portion was perfect for me to have leftovers at home. That garlic bread though-- you are not kidding around with that! It was very tasty! Thank you for the little birthday dessert, while we knew she wouldn't eat it, it was important for her to have the candle/singing experience. Then of course she made us eat it. (And yes it was also delicious.) Hope we can return on other nights both with our daughter and if ever possible for a mom and dad date night. There are many other dishes we want to try.
