For an appetizer, it's definitely on the larger side and was very filling as a solo diner. That said, it would make an excellent dish to share with the table! The carnitas were flavorful, tender, and a great way to kick off the meal. I also ordered the pineapple michelada, and honestly, it was good! I don't think I've ever had a pineapple michelada before, but it was refreshing and paired perfectly with the food. I'd absolutely recommend giving it a try if you're visiting! For my main entrée, I had the red chilaquiles topped with carnitas. One thing I've noticed lately is that a lot of places seem to take the easy route by using a simple tomato based sauce for their chilaquiles. That definitely wasn't the case here!! The chile rojo had a rich, well developed flavor that tasted like it was made from scratch with care rather than taking shortcuts. The carnitas and over easy egg were a perfect addition, and I enjoyed every bite!! The restaurant has plenty of seating inside, but I chose to sit on the patio. It was nicely shaded and made for a peaceful, relaxing breakfast outdoors. To top it all off, the service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the meal. I've been here twice since my last review. The first visit was with a friend, and we sat outside on the patio. It was really nice and we enjoyed our meal. The orange juice was fresh, and my friend had an iced latte with brown sugar on the side. Our server was very kind and checked in on us often. Toward the end, though, we got the hint that they wanted us to leave when they lowered the umbrella that had been blocking us from the sun. The second visit was with a group of friends. Then they put the whisked eggs onto the heat and flip the tortilla on top of the cooking eggs to get them to bond to the tortilla too. Complete the filling roll and serve. Cute idea and looks very nice. To make it so thick they put a lot of potato. Could use a little less potato and a bit more egg that isn't connected to the tortilla. The entry area was a bit cramped with just one family waiting, we had to squeeze by to get inside. However, once we were in, the space felt open and comfortable. It didn't feel like we were on top of other guests or too close to other tables. Since the weather was nice, we decided to sit on the patio. Both the patio and inside are newly renovated and had a clean, modern feel. On the patio, we did experience some road noise, which is expected given the location, but it wasn't anything that really bothered us. Our server greeted us fairly quickly and gave us a few drink recommendations before coming back to take our order. He was helpful, but after that, we didn't see him again. No one came by to check on us after the food came out. Toward the end of the meal, someone who seemed like a manager or assistant manager did stop by to clear plates and process the check. We ordered the tiramisu French toast and the Californian omelette with a side of potatoes. The menu said the omelette came with two sides, but we were told that was a typo and it only comes with one. Hopefully they update that. When our food arrived, the presentation was impressive and everything tasted great. The French toast looked like it might be overly sweet but was actually really balanced and delicious. The omelette was solid too. It would've been even better with some hot sauce or salsa to add moisture, which I would have asked for if anyone had checked on us. The potatoes were creamy and well seasoned. Portion sizes were just right. We left full but didn't have a ton of leftovers, which is kinda what you want with breakfast foods, in my opinion. One thing to note is the credit card fee. The receipt mentions "cash price," but nothing was explained ahead of time. I asked about it after they ran the card and found out there's a flat fee of two dollars and some change. It's not a big deal, but this should be spelt out exactly what the fee is on the tab when they bring it. All in all, we had a good experience. The food, vibe and overall atmosphere were great. The service side could use a bit of fine-tuning, especially with follow-up and communication.
