Super friendly & fast service and answered all my questions. I've been on this strawberry matcha kick lately and found this place nearby my house. Not an actual restaurant but still great quality.

"Bao Bao Kitchen" is a home-based kitchen operating in East Oakland, that serves Vietnamese foods and specialities. I first learned about this place on Doordash, and then read the great reviews on Yelp. All the stellar reviews talked about the great food, but nothing about the actual restaurant. The Doordash pickup address pointed to a residential area in East Oakland. So I placed an order on Doordash (for delivery) to see if the food was legit. My first order was "Crispy Pork Belly w/ Rice Sheets," and " 4-pc Eggrolls." OMG, the Eggrolls were absolutely delicious. I could eat a dozen Eggrolls or more! All the foods and ingredients are super fresh. I was super impressed by the freshness of the crispy pork belly. The meat was juicy and moist. The skin was crispy and crunchy. The food came in nice looking packaging with scan QR codes for direct ordering. Later I received an email from Bao Bao Kitchen thanking me for my order, and hoped I would order again soon. I asked where or what this restaurant is, and the reply was that she was a home chef. So on a rainy Saturday, I decided to solve this mystery. I used the QR code to order directly from the restaurant and go pickup my order. You place an order, pay, and then select a pickup time. I used Zelle to pay, and I received the pickup address. The online menu is different than Doordash. The prices are a bit lower, and you can order larger amounts and party trays. I ordered: (Total $35, no tax) - Garlic Noodles w/ Shrimp, $16 - Shrimp Spring Rolls, 2 x $2.00 ea - Eggrolls, 10 x $1.50 ea - Pork Skewers- Sold Out, so add more egg rolls How was the food? - Garlic Noodles w/ Shrimp, Grade (4/5): Lots of garlicky noodles, but shrimp were a bit too salty. Enough for two servings, not very big for $16. - Eggrolls, Grade (5/5), I love the eggrolls. Crispy and fresh. - Shrimp Spring Rolls, Grade (3/5) They looked great, but I didn't like the flavor. They're salad rolls with shrimp, served with peanut sauce and crushed peanuts. The minty taste made me feel sick. Service, Grade (5/5): arrived early at the address given, called the phone number, and a friendly young lady came out with my order. Later received a thank you email, and copy of the final receipt. Would I order again? Yes

Oh my goodness, if there was ever a literal gem hidden in the wall, this is it! You text the number to see the menu, make your order, pay and then pick up the food from a really nice woman. The result is some fresh, homemade authentic Vietnamese food at a very reasonable price! The crispy shrimp&pork eggrolls come with some sweet and sour sauce. This was ok, i like the crunch! Springrolls are filled with beansprouts, mint, lettuce snd vermicelli with 3 shrimp. super fresh - the peanut sauce they come with is delicious! Their garlic noodles have such an intense aroma and flavor Banh Mis are $7.50 each and filled with everything you want: a crispy, fresh french baguette; pickled vegetables, sauces and I love the smokiness of the grilled meat. 100% recommend you get these! My favorite was definitely the crispy pork belly banh mi! That crispy skin and tender meat is too good. Definitely will coming back here again!

Shrimp Spring Rolls

Sooo good ! I had been craving these and decided to look for somewhere new. They are home based so make sure to call or text the number when you arrive. The fish sauce was hella bomb !

First of all, they're VERY well priced. I door dashed my food from here. Everything came warm and still edible. I love that they gave the option to put the ice on the side for my delivered viet coffee. The bread for the bahn mi was soft. I got the grilled pork all the ratios were fantastic! The egg rolls were great as well as the spring rolls! They give enough sauce also they're not greedy with the sauce. (Sorry I started eating before I took the photos obviously) LOL. BUT IT WAS SOOO GOOD AND SO REASONABLY PRICED

Fowl + Fare operates from a small storefront right next to the Shanvi Indian Grocery store on Santa Clara Ave (near Broadway). This place is either takeout or eat outside on picnic tables. I took my food to-go. I had the Citric Hot Chicken Sandwich w/ Seasoned Fries. I liked the Citric Hot Chicken Sandwich. It was spicy, but not numbing hot. The slaw sort of smoothed out the spicy heat. It's made from thigh meat, so it's moist and easy to eat. I didn't like the seasoned fries. They cut the potatoes into thin fries that don't travel well as takeout. Probably okay if you ate them right there, fresh from the kitchen. If I go back, I'm just getting a sandwich.....no fries.

We usually order rice & beans, yucca frita, and occasionally an agua fresca. This time we ordered a strawberry & lemonade, super yum & perfect amount of tart & sweet. The yucca frita was crispy with savory sauce to pair with it. The rice and beans are simple but also so consistently deliciously cooked. The white rice is the best restaurant rice I ever had, I wish I could make it like This at home lolol. Overall, the food here has always been delicious. We order here frequently for the last few years and will continue to do so. Service is always positive, seamless and straightforward. We come and my dad is trying to communicate what he wanted on his sandwich, and everyone is particular about everything so before you quick jump to "it's just a sandwich" we pay for good service and we tip good and i'm writing this in hopes this doesn't happen to anyone else in the board. My dad wanted everything on his sandwich as well as lite mustard and etc and the lady who makes the sandwiches wasn't listening and kept trying to say she got it and she's working on it. I've worked in food service for years and it is important to hear what a customer is asking for because after all, it's their food. We got home, no tomatoes, sandwich was missing stuff, my boyfriend's sandwich was missing stuff. It was disappointing. My father was very upset. I think they could be more friendly as well as being more adapting to certain people who are just communicating a specific need or want in their purchase. We will be calling later in hopes to remove or change this review. Thank you.

The staff was cordial and friendly, and the chicken-themed decor, charming. Now it IS a chicken joint, the go-to chicken spot for my full carnivore friend. He loves them for their chicken, their inexpensive menu and their large portions. I'm mostly pescatarian, though I do sometimes cheat with bacon. (I always feel SO guilty afterwards too!) I ordered the honey mustard salad with bacon and no chicken. My friend ordered the chicken Mac n cheese and tater tots. The bill came up to $30, and the portions were good on on the salad, GREAT on the tater tots and decent on the chicken mac. I can't speak personally on the chicken but my friend says it's amazing. I tasted some of his Mac n cheese with no chicken, and it was really good and flavorful, nice and cheesy. I tasted his tater tots. They were plentiful, well-seasoned and fried to golden perfection, with a nice crunch. I ate all of my salad. My friend couldn't finish his chicken Mac or his tater tots and was happy to be able to take them to go for another meal. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place.

It was hot and thick and juicy when it came out. The fries were decent, but likely just some standard frozen fries. The ranch was also really good, but $.50 each small sized cup. My biggest gripe was the service and the state of the restaurant. In the booth we sat in there was an electrical outlet is hanging out of the wall and the booths are in need of cleaning. We had to use the bathroom, and the soap was out. The staff member brought a new one, but didn't know how to install it so it just sat on top of paper towels. Not a huge deal but bruh, figure it out. The guy was nice enough, but just sat and watched his phone when no one was at counter. There was also another guy, maybe from the kitchen (?) hanging out behind the counter sometimes as well. All while tables needed wiping, the bus tub was FULL with dishes, or either of them could have tried to get the soap installed. If there was no one at counter or food to cook it was stand around and stare at our phones. It's just sad Just a subpar experience for as much as food costs these days. Train the staff to stay busy and know how to bus tables and clean. And if you ever order the BLT chicken sandwich make sure to ask for no BBQ sauce. Yuk.
