I've been here around eight times now and have worked through almost the entire menu. There are definitely a few dishes that keep me coming back: the meatballs, Stefina salad, chicken Alfredo, and seafood risotto are my regular reorders. When they hit, they are genuinely enjoyable. That said, the menu is uneven. Some dishes are just fine, and a few were disappointing enough that I would not order them again. The bigger issue is value. The pricing feels aggressive for Frisco, especially given the portion sizes. Three small meatballs for $23 is hard to justify. The seafood risotto is $37, but the seafood itself feels underwhelming: very small shrimp, tiny scallops, and a few clams and mussels. It does not feel like the quality or quantity of ingredients matches the price point. Maybe they brought California pricing to Frisco, but at these prices, I expect more: better ingredients, more generous portions, and flavors that feel memorable rather than just decent. Overall, there are a few good dishes here, but the value proposition is difficult to defend. read more

I had the chance to finally try Baonecci this past week and it was a phenomenal experience! Our waiter, Rogelio, taught us all about the restaurant's history and about the menu. Baonecci used to be in San Francisco and recently came to Frisco, TX in the last 3 years. Their entire menu is ordered in fresh from Europe, pastas and pizzas are handmade in house, and everything lacks processed ingredients. To begin, we ordered white wine and I believe the Judas Spritz, which contained red wine, orange, and more. Both were excellent and paired perfectly with our appetizers and meals. For our appetizers, we ordered the Bruschetta and the Tagliere Toscano, or charcuterie board. The bruschetta was some of the best we have ever had and was made with excellently toasted bread. The Tagliere Toscano contained a variety of tasty meats, cheese, olives, as well as focaccia bread. It was a perfect board and not too heavy before our main meal. We also split the Baonecci Salad, which contained romaine lettuce, arugula, goat cheese and pears. It was absolutely delicious and perfect for the two of us. For our entrees, we ordered the Ravioloni Riccotta e Spinaci and an item from the secret menu, veal ravioli with white sauce. We also spilt a Contadina pizza. We were absolutely blown away by each of these dishes, the Ravioloni Riccotta e Spinaci was my particular favorite. The ravioli ricotta and spinach was served with the best gorgonzola cream sauce and topped with walnuts, it was honestly one of my favorite dishes I have had this year. The secret menu item was classic Italian and another hit. We loved the Contadina pizza as well. It was made very thin and crispy, echoing true Italian style. It definitely could be an appetizer because it was very light. It was made with gorgonzola, mozzarella, parmesan and topped with curly pears, it was delicious! Lastly, for dessert, Rogelio recommended we try the Coppa Amarena over the Tiramisu, so we did. It was a great choice! The Coppa Amarena is vanilla gelato topped with Amarena cherries. It is a perfect, fruity and light dessert to end the night with. However, I would love to come back for the Tiramisu! Overall, it was an absolutely amazing experience. The food is authentic, Italian and clearly made fresh and in-house. Our waiter, Rogelio, also made it such a fun night and gave us amazing recommendations that made the entire experience great. I cannot wait to come back and try more from the menu and have some of these dishes again. Don't let it deter you that it is located in a strip mall, it is truly a hidden, Italian gem. We stopped into Baonecci Ristorante on a Saturday evening around 6:00 for our first visit. The restaurant was mostly empty, but we still got a slightly judgy look for not having a reservation, which was a bit off-putting. Thankfully, the service was friendly and fast throughout the meal. The atmosphere was nice and clearly aiming to be a step above casual dining, which they mostly achieve. Now to the food. I had the lasagna and my wife ordered the tagliatelle bolognese. The flavors were fine and you can tell the pasta is homemade, but the dishes didn't quite justify the steep pricing. The lasagna was $32 for a smaller-than-average cut, and the bolognese was $34 for a modest portion. It tasted better than your standard chain Italian spot, but not by much. At those prices, we expected something more impressive or memorable. We also tried the tiramisu and the cannoli. The tiramisu was solid, though again on the small side. The cannoli was tiny and lacked the flavor you'd want from a $12 dessert. All in, the bill came to $112 for two people, without any drinks or extras. Nothing was bad, but it just didn't feel worth the price. If the portions were a little bigger or the flavors more standout, we'd feel differently. Right now, it feels like a restaurant that wants to be upscale but hasn't fully earned it. We might return, but only with adjusted expectations. read more

Baonecci's lasagna is good, maybe even a little better than Miss Pasta's; however, it's also 70% more expensive AND a smaller portion. We were greeted by Walter and his son Phillipo, both engaging and very Italian... felt great being with true Italians and new friends after just a few minutesThe good vibes there will definitely warm your spirits the Caesar salad was crisp and fresh with delicious dressing! The food here was amazing! Everything was so fresh and flavorful. We had a Judas Spritz and a Hugo Spritz, and both were so good. I don't usually like the taste of alcohol, but the Judas Spritz was delicious and super easy to drink. We started with the bruschetta, and it was perfect. The tomatoes were juicy, hand-picked, and full of flavor. I'm not even a big tomato fan, but I ate every single piece. For the main course, I had a pesto pasta (can't remember the exact name) and a Margherita pizza, and both were incredible. The pesto was super fresh and the pizza was honestly the best pizza I've ever had. We finished with the tiramisu, and it was amazing light, creamy, and the perfect sweet ending. I'm torn about writing this review. On the plus side, Baonecci reminds me a lot of the food in Italy. The sauces looked and tasted different from other Italian restaurants in America and I do appreciate that. On the downside, the dishes were underseasoned and didn't pop with flavors. We have been here twice and enjoyed the ambiance and service; however, I do have a comment regarding the Tagliatelle EVO. It is made with homemade pasta (delish) olive oil and garlic. Couldn't be simpler, right? Never in my life have I been served cloves of garlic in a pasta dish that hadn't had the skin removed. The garlic wasn't peeled! The dish had about eight whole cloves, all unpeeled, so it wasn't a mistake. Is it me? Please sit me straight if I'm wrong. read more

I hate to say this because I really wanted to love it since everything is made in house but the negative reviews were right. The food was rather bland/ minimal seasoning, small portions, and the pastas are grossly overpriced. Over $35 for bolognese is wild. Get my point? Yea, the other pasta options followed in suit in terms of pricing. It wouldn't be a major deal breaker if the flavor was spot on but it was grossly lacking. I love thin crust pizza but their pizza was thinner than a cracker! Thinner than the communion crackers and again... lacking in flavor. This new family-owned Italian restaurant is located at the edge of a strip mall in Frisco. Love that it is in a location that is easy to access/park. Upon walking in, I immediately noticed that this place was packed. Luckily we had reservations, but we saw a couple come in after us that had to be turned away due to lack of a reservation. So, highly recommended to lock one down in advance. The decor in the restaurant was minimal. The restaurant itself is small and cozy. With all the tables filled, the sound level can get elevated. Because I'm that type of person, the online menu was reviewed throughly prior to our reservation. So, we walked in knowing what we were going to order. My family is from a different region of Italy than the Tuscan roots that this food is based upon. Therefore I knew to keep an open mind to how dishes can be prepared different. With that in mind, pizza and lasagne were two of the must haves. At the time of this review, they did not have a liquor license, and it was BYOB. I noticed several tables brought their own wine, beer, etc. in which they gladly provided glasses. We didn't bring a bottle of wine with us and planned to just try what they had there but I was surprised to be told that the only drink offerings were Pellegrino and still water. I had assumed (hoped) perhaps there'd be some mocktails or other types of refreshments. For the appetizer we ordered the bruschetta. Main course was pizza Margherita, and my SO ordered the lasagne. The bruschetta and pizza Margherita were perfection. Bruschetta had the perfect blend of garlic, olive oil, and fresh tomatoes on sliced grilled/toasted bread. It was very light and refreshing. Perfect for a summer night. The pizza is wonderfully cracker thin with a crispy crust. Upon my first bite, I was immediately transported back to the last time I visited my family in Italy and the pizza I'd have there. The sauce was flavored perfectly with the ideal amount of fresh mozzarella. Easily can be eaten by one person without feeling overly stuffed. Of course, I shared some with my SO, who gave me his sign of approval. The lasagne had their homemade bolognese between layers of homemade pasta along with a béchamel sauce. The béchamel sauce is a must have for me in lasagne. The overall flavors of the lasagne were pretty good. Would've loved more béchamel between the layers, as there were pockets here and there. Overall, it was satisfying. We did not have room to try any of the desserts, but we did see quite a few tiramisùs being served to other tables. Noted for the next visit. All in all we are excited to have an authentic, family-owned restaurant so close. We definitely plan to go back and try the other pizza and pasta offerings. read more

The ambience of this restaurant is a 10 out of 10 as well as the service. I would classify this restaurant as the perfect first date restaurant. They also try very hard to make it feel like a proper Italian restaurant. My only complaints is that the food is so so and the prices are outrageous. When you pay almost $40 for a dish, especially when the portions are as small as they are, you expected to be absolute knockout food. However, the ravioli was rather mediocre. I would absolutely give this restaurant a second chance as maybe it was just an off night for the kitchen staff. However, it definitely would not become a regular restaurant given the prices unless they made their portions slightly larger to justify it. Elia mentioned the Arrosto di Maiale was tonight's special. The potatoes, carrots, onions, and roast pork perfectly prepared sounded glorious! And then we ordered! As we waited, Walter, the establishment's proprietor, came by to say hi and even volunteered (or perhaps was volunteered) to take our goup picture! Wowza! That's way above and beyond the call of duty! Walter's also a natural photographer! The diet Coke presentation was pure magic! (Nonsequitur. "Diet Coke" elicits memories of Tom Cruise (as Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder) asking for the super-refreshing emperor of cola beverages) Our entrées arrived! MANGIA! MANGIA! The Crostini Cotto Mozzarella was spot on. The Burrata Salad was fantastic. The rich and creamy Burrata was fantastic with the Focaccia Della Casa! And yes, Burrata is a synonym for fantastic! Had high hopes for this one based on an article I read, but it really didn't wow me. Service was so slow we came about 1 minute from walking out. Apparently they're short handed, but it took 40 minutes from time of arrival (with a reservation) to get someone to take our order. The food was ok. I hated the calzone, it was like someone put a dollop of ricotta on a matzoh and topped it with an olive and an artichoke. So weird to me. The service is a little slow however it's Xmas Eve and LITERALLY one waiter and One amazing right hand woman. She did it all. She was busing, water refilled, set tables etc. she was amazing and wore a smile on her face the whole time!! Our waiter aka Roger but not Roger. Roger is what he said however I didn't catch his real name he was absolutely amazing! The humor he has was perfect for our table of 5! We had 2 bottles of wine he suggested it. We had 3 pizzas, 2 pasta dishes and 3 desserts. Can I say we were pigging out. Absolutely!! The food was fantastic! The seafood pasta was my favorite no sauces needed all olive oil based and real tomatoes. The pizzas are thin thin and fantastic. It's not your typical American pizzas! These r real Italian style! I met up with some girlfriends last night for our weekly girls night out. We had reservations for 6 however for some reason there was miscommunication and we had to wait about 15 min. for a table. The bar area is small and a bit snug with not much seating so we had to stand around with our glasses of wine while we waited. After being seated we waiting another 20 min. to be greeted by our waiter I didn't get his name he was an older gentleman. We started with bread to share. I ordered the Burrata Salad...$18-Arugula, Sliced Tomatoes, Burrata cheese an absolute MUST!!! The cheese tasted like it was made in house and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. I finished the entire salad which is rare. For entrée a few of us decided on the Tortelli Porcini...$33 Ravioli Filled With Porcini Mushrooms, it was the perfect amount not too heavy or greasy but also very tasty. Items also ordered was the Lasagna...$30 Egg Pasta Sheets, Pork and Beef Sauce, Bechamel Cheese Sauce, Parmigiano. The Tordelli Lucchesi...$35 Meat Ravioli, Housemade Pork and Beef Bolognese Sauce, Parsley. Or waiter was switched to the super hot young tattooed waiter that was a nice dreamy eye candy for us all. All I can say is WOW! This is the most amazing Italian food I have had since Little Italy in New York. There are some places that are just far up and above the rest and this would be it. The family moved to the U.S. from Italy about 15 years ago. They have been in The Bay Area but just moved here. It is a family run business and they are really friendly and great service. The food has all the right combinations for a great taste. The menu has all the essentials and I was a little jealous of my wife's pizza. I have not had anything close to this good in Texas and I would visit them soon because after the first article gets written for review it will be a trouble table to reserve. Baonecci really catered for our group of 7. Excellent service by the server, unexpectedly chatty and explained most of their dishes in detail. All of their ingredients are non-GMO certified and have true authenticity to its Italian heritage. Since the pasta are made in-house, the server was very accommodative to switching the pasta type with the sauce. Tagliatelle was switched to penne for all'Arrabbiata - slightly more than expected spicy but penne was cooked to perfection. Bruschetta was a crowd pleaser as well. Ah its desserts had a variety. We ordered the Funghi Pizza which had very minimal mushrooms. It looked like a Margarita pizza. The mushrooms were not fresh but from a can or jar. It came with a red sauce and barely any cheese. It was the worst pizza I had in years. We also ordered the Lasagna which is supposed to be there best item. The lasagna was so dry and overcooked we threw it in the trash along with the pizza. The Baonecci Salad was also disappointing. With old over soft pears that I didn't want to even attempt to eat it. It also went in the trash. Don't waste your money here.
