My favorite hour is HAPPY HOUR! I decided to meet up with a fellow friend who is also an elite YELPER. Oh how I wanted to love Salute. It fell short for me and her. There were definitely some highs and lows. Let me give you the good, bad and ugly. Let me start with the GOOD! Happy Hour drink prices are great. The cocktails are half off. The welcome bread basket is scrumptious. I loved the Olive Oil, Parmesan Cheese and Balsamic mix for the bread. Ambiance 4 STARS It's a lovely restaurant space. I love the bar area. The dining room is simple, but chic and modern. Service 5 STARS Our waiter Ernest was AMAZING! He was very polite, polished and pleasant. He truly made the experience better with his outstanding customer service. Cocktails 4 STARS The lemon drop was delicious. I loved the presentation. The glass was sexy and the sugar rim with a piece of lemon was perfect. So the bad started with the food. The crab cakes were hard and dry. I will say that it was full of crab. We informed our waiter. He was very helpful with trying to resolve our dissatisfaction. The crab cakes reminded me of a biscuit. So these were about 2 STARS. Up next tried a small Caesar salad. Price and size were decent. The salad dressing wasn't that great. It was ok about 3 STARS. After the crab cakes and salad we really had enough disappointment. I wanted to give them one more chance. I decided I had to taste a pasta dish. I chose the Manicotti. Presentation was ok and the edible flower was cute. It was a NO for us. The pasta was lacking in flavor and Italian seasoning. I tasted salt though. Unfortunately I had to send it back. So overall it was an ok experience. There were good and bad moments. Nothing was ugly. Our waiter could tell we were not happy and offered to help make it right. I truly appreciated the owner/manager coming out to speak with us. He listened to our feedback and apologized for the situation. This made up for the lack of great food. He also offered us a free dessert. We declined, but it was a nice touch. To top it off they did offer to fix me another dish. However, we were ready to call it a night.

Highly suggest checking out Salute Italian if you're in Frisco and planning a date night or a friend's night out! While it is a little pricey, the food is unmatched. The Bolognese I had was superb. Make sure to get there early if you can--they do half-price bottles of wine before 6:00 PM. on certain nights of the week. The staff is friendly and helpful. A nice alternative to the usual.

    Spicy rigatoni. Very good.

Was in the area for the night and tried the highest rated Italian restaurant in Frisco TX. Tucked in the corner of a shopping center, it stood out. Once inside it was cozy, Italian and had a nice bar. Our server Sebastian (Bas) was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu. He was attentive but not overbearing. The food was solid. No complaints.

If you haven't tried Salute, it's a must try!! The staff is so friendly and such a fun vibe. It's a great neighborhood spot to just hang out. The food is amazing, too! They have excellent crab cakes and I love the Caesar salad!

Inspired by a fellow Yelp Elite, I was excited to check out Salute and made reservations for a Saturday night. The service here is top-notch. The whole front of house team works well together, setting up tables, clearing them in a flash, seating diners and serving food. They are on it, even when it's busy. Definitely 5 star service. As for the food, there were some big hits and a couple of meh moments. We started with cocktails, an old-fashioned and a raspberry martini, and both were awesome. For apps, we split a Caesar salad and the buffalo calamari and both were easily our favorites. The calamari was crispy and cooked perfectly, and the buffalo sauce was great. For entrées, my date went with the chicken Parmesan and I had the chicken Sorentino. Here's when things dipped a little, the chicken on both dishes, needed seasoning, like where's the salt and pepper? The cheese and pasta sauce were great, but the chicken was so bland. This place is on the pricey side but overall it's a great place for date night. It's a beautiful restaurant with above average food and seriously amazing service.

Our party of 12 had a reservation to celebrate a birthday, but they were so busy on a weekend that it still took a long time for us to get seated. The interior of this place is quite nice with moody lighting. Perfect vibe for a date night or celebration. Loved the bread they brought out as an appetizer to dip in olive oil & parmesan. I ordered the chicken picatta, it was decent, but nothing that stood out. Probably should have stuck to a pasta dish as that seems to be their specialty. Our server was good and attentive. Only other complaint I have is that they charged us a $8 dish splitting fee when they actually didn't split any dishes. They asked if we needed a dish split and we said no. One of our friends didn't order a dish, but I guess that's why they charged us anyway? But there wasn't any transparency about it regardless.

Unfortunately salute is not what it used to be. The quality has decreased significantly and is no longer worth the price.

Our waitress was kind and offered my partner thorough recommendations, and she brought out a complimentary dessert for my occasion (that was REALLY good despite us being so full). The atmosphere was lovely even with the craziness of apparently a graduation happening nearby. Would I pay this much for food normally? Probably not, but this was a special occasion and I think it makes a great location for that kind of event. I would recommend!

Around the Star area and trying new stuff, I found Lombardi's just by mistake. Wrong turn in Ave of…read morethe Champs and there it was. I have to be honest, this is not my first "rodeo" at this place, but this time I decided to write a review on it. So, this review will be more like an overall one instead of a specific dinner on a specific date. Let's start with the "first impression". The place is nicely set, and the decoration is phenomenal (at least for my taste). Since I normally dine alone, the bar is my best friend. This place has an "ENORMOUS" bar area, so it is very unlikely you'll not find a seat even in a very busy night. Personnel are super attentive, not like a place right in front of the street (sorry but you will have to ready my other review on a place in the area). In my several visits I ordered different things. From the Caesar's salad to the Salmon and many times different types of pasta. I have to be honest, I never been disappointed with any of the plates I ordered there, with the exception of 2. I'll explain. When it comes to appetizers, I always go with some traditional, Caesar's Salad, Prosciutto & Burrata, Caprese Salad o Carpaccio. From all of these I will recommend everything but the Caprese Salad (and this is one of my favorite plates in Italian cuisine). In this one I have to deviate from my normal way of reviewing things and say, I really don't recommend it on taste but on size and price. Basically, it is not worth what they charge for it when you can get the Prosciutto and Burrata for barely a couple of bucks more. My recommendation: stick with the prosciutto, unless you are a vegetarian. About main course, I tried they salmon (really good and light if you are not in heavy eating night), Pappardelle, which is the best if you want pasta with meat, Gnocchi, if you are in a "non-protein" night, and my favorite of the entire pile, Tagliolini al Tartufo. I know, is probably the most expensive plate in the menu, but we are talking about REAL BLACK TRUFFLE shaved onto the pasta tableside!!! When it comes to deserts, I only have once the souffle. Honestly, I did not finish it. It can be my taste, because for me, souffle, the way I discovered and loved in France has to be super fluffy and pretty much dissolve in your mouth, this one was thick and a little bit on the acid side (like it had lemon zest in it). And this constitutes the 2nd plate I did not like there. I will really love to put a 5-star rating on this restaurant, but I will have to say, in my last 2 visits, I saw a little decline on execution. Just as a sample, my gnocchi were a little overcook. I understand is easy to overcook gnocchi, but a restaurant of this kind, should pay more attention to these little things. Even though, I will keep on going to Lombardi's although won't be my first choice for Italian in town. Salute!

The food was amazingly good--one of the best italian places I've had in a while. Our service was subpar. We were a group of 5 people all around the age of 23-24, and it seemed like our server just assumed that made all his shortcomings okay because he tried to act kind of bro-like with us. There were multiple periods of time where we were left alone for anywhere from 10 minutes to 40. It took us a LONG time to get our food even though we were one of maybe 4 parties in the restaurant. One friend got told they were out of something, ordered something else, and the waiter went, "that's a joke, right?" and told him they were out of that too. His entree came out almost a full 30-40 minutes after the rest of ours so he just packed it up to-go. Only a halfhearted apology that everything was taking so long and no type of compensation. The food was good enough that I would go back to try again since partner and I live in the area. But i really hope we don't get this guy as our server again.

Spaghetti Bolognese, Spicy Chicken Sauté & a vegetarian platter. Had an Italian eaten the spaghetti bolognese, he would have jumped off a cliff. The meat chunks were big & there must have been a max of 2 tablespoons of meat in the whole dish. The spicy chicken sauté was tough & rubbery. Both the dishes were made from a can of tomato sauce. No flavor in any dish. The vegetarian platter had some frozen falafels that were deep fried & served with the same 2 dips & some rice. The cheekiest part was the waiter add a 20% gratuity to the bill. I would never go back or recommend anyone go there.

When they hit, they are genuinely enjoyable. That said, the menu is uneven. Some dishes are just fine, and a few were disappointing enough that I would not order them again. The bigger issue is value. The pricing feels aggressive for Frisco, especially given the portion sizes. Three small meatballs for $23 is hard to justify. The seafood risotto is $37, but the seafood itself feels underwhelming: very small shrimp, tiny scallops, and a few clams and mussels. It does not feel like the quality or quantity of ingredients matches the price point. Maybe they brought California pricing to Frisco, but at these prices, I expect more: better ingredients, more generous portions, and flavors that feel memorable rather than just decent. Overall, there are a few good dishes here, but the value proposition is difficult to defend.

I had the chance to finally try Baonecci this past week and it was a phenomenal experience!…read more Our waiter, Rogelio, taught us all about the restaurant's history and about the menu. Baonecci used to be in San Francisco and recently came to Frisco, TX in the last 3 years. Their entire menu is ordered in fresh from Europe, pastas and pizzas are handmade in house, and everything lacks processed ingredients. To begin, we ordered white wine and I believe the Judas Spritz, which contained red wine, orange, and more. Both were excellent and paired perfectly with our appetizers and meals. For our appetizers, we ordered the Bruschetta and the Tagliere Toscano, or charcuterie board. The bruschetta was some of the best we have ever had and was made with excellently toasted bread. The Tagliere Toscano contained a variety of tasty meats, cheese, olives, as well as focaccia bread. It was a perfect board and not too heavy before our main meal. We also split the Baonecci Salad, which contained romaine lettuce, arugula, goat cheese and pears. It was absolutely delicious and perfect for the two of us. For our entrees, we ordered the Ravioloni Riccotta e Spinaci and an item from the secret menu, veal ravioli with white sauce. We also spilt a Contadina pizza. We were absolutely blown away by each of these dishes, the Ravioloni Riccotta e Spinaci was my particular favorite. The ravioli ricotta and spinach was served with the best gorgonzola cream sauce and topped with walnuts, it was honestly one of my favorite dishes I have had this year. The secret menu item was classic Italian and another hit. We loved the Contadina pizza as well. It was made very thin and crispy, echoing true Italian style. It definitely could be an appetizer because it was very light. It was made with gorgonzola, mozzarella, parmesan and topped with curly pears, it was delicious! Lastly, for dessert, Rogelio recommended we try the Coppa Amarena over the Tiramisu, so we did. It was a great choice! The Coppa Amarena is vanilla gelato topped with Amarena cherries. It is a perfect, fruity and light dessert to end the night with. However, I would love to come back for the Tiramisu! Overall, it was an absolutely amazing experience. The food is authentic, Italian and clearly made fresh and in-house. Our waiter, Rogelio, also made it such a fun night and gave us amazing recommendations that made the entire experience great. I cannot wait to come back and try more from the menu and have some of these dishes again. Don't let it deter you that it is located in a strip mall, it is truly a hidden, Italian gem. I look forward to returning soon! Thank you so much for a great experience and night!!
