Was at Bar 1 on 08/31/25 from 7pm-12am. From the moment my friend and i walked in, the 2 bartenders (chunky guy w suspenders & the other guy w hat) did not attend us. We had to keep calling them over, it was not busy. They were not friendly at all (especially the chunky one). We should've left but we were enjoying the music. When we finally asked to close out our bill, he ignored us. We repeated that we wanted to close out 3xs....he finally said i heard you. I replied, well acknowledge us. He started stocking and did not close us out. as I'm writing this its been 15 minutes since I've asked to close out. The fat guy has poor customer service. I will never be back! And as a club promoter i will never recommended this place! If management reads this please talk to the fat bartender. His customer service is not good at all! Thank you! read more

Great service. Fun environment. Played pool with some very nice guys. Guys in line drinking not so nice. When you say "pardon me" so you can shoot with your pool stick. I guess you can just not avoid an angry queen. The manager and the bouncer got involved. It's nice to know that a first timer is willing to go back into the den of regulars. My friends and I have been patronizing this bar for years now, ti celebrate the end of each work week. It's pretty basic, with ample bar seating, long tables, pool tables, a lounge area, and an outdoor patio heavily shaded by trees. There is no dance floor and generally no big events. Bartenders mix up and serve drinks with speed, video screen are everywhere playing music videos geared toward the clientele, which is a very mixed and diverse crowd. How I would explain this place is a staff who does there job. I don't mean that in a rude way. Just come in do your job and clock out. Very kind people. Although last night I know my wallet was picked up, had my money in cash in it of over 400 plus.. and was suddenly missing by the end of the night. I talked with security he did his best, I go to look in the bathroom & two people are hooking up inside... very interesting LOL I have called and have had my assistant and lady chat with them Only replies are "can't do anything it's the owners job" I guess the owner is on vacation and says nothing can change until He arrives on Monday! Which blows my mind. Nobody has access to the cameras besides you? What sucks as well as I have family and friends coming into town this Weekend and I will be without a debit card credit card and an ID.. just simply heartbroken right now I have met with the owner at Boycott she is an angel and takes so much pride in customer service. She Checked the cameras instantly no hesitation and told and SHOWED me that I left with it in my right hand. WHAT MAKES THIS WORSE IS I WAS THE DD last night and this happen. I can't make this make sense like all I ask is for video review to know who took my wallet. Be careful here & unfortunately the Yelp reviews don't make me feel any better. None of these gay bars in Phoenix are 4/5 stars. I want to give these places high ratings but is my experiences here at this business pulling me back in? ...and the answer is no. I wait up at the bar every time. The bartenders see I'm waiting but can't even acknowledge and say I'll be with you shortly because reality is the bartenders forget they're working to sell alcohol and keep customers there. The business these owners lose because of mediocre staff that can't simply say hi or any friendly welcoming gesture to someone standing up at a bar. Bartenders who make me wait and then get frustrated because I'm asking about the signature drinks being advertised on their tv screens? This lack of customer service has been consistent at this bar. It is why my recommendation is 50/50. The owner is cordial and the manager was nice to us as we were leaving but that cordial behavior doesn't exist in its staff that I've experienced. I stopped in on a Thursday about 7:30pm for a drink. The bar wasn't too busy, yet there were two lines at the bar for drinks. I stood in one for about 10 minutes, and literally no one was served a drink. The bartenders were standing around with their hands seemingly up their arses. I left and will never go back. This bar is always great to go to when your looking for some good strong drinks for a great price. I had a lemonade mixed berry drink my favorite drink here. Has real Berry's fresh very very flavorful. We also had the famous dick Jell-O shots from here always delicious fun little bonus. Went to Bar 1 with my wife and a friend that doesn't go out much (he was a bit fearful of the new environment and bar scene). The service was great, we watched a tennis match, drank some beer, and enjoyed some light bar food. I know my wife and I are not the targeted audience, but my friend fits the bill. The interior and finishings are very chic and well executed, creating a sophisticated atmosphere that is markedly calmer than the rest of the gay bar scene. Decided to stop in here after work as I pass it every day on my way home. I wasn't expecting much, just a chill divey bar atmosphere to have a few beers. I came in and sat down at the end of the bar which was the only open seat at the bar. It wasn't too busy, just a full bar and some people at tables. I waited as the bar tender was finishing with other guests. After that however, I continued to wait as he moved on to polishing glasses and chatting with his other customers. I've worked in the bar industry for 10 years and was taught to pay attention to the full bar and not just hang around one section. Still, I figured I'd just wait until I caught his attention. After 30 min a new crowd came in and were instantly served at which point I decided to walk out. Had I had any reason to at that point spend my money there I would have walked over to him but didn't want to lose my seat, so finding somewhere else to go was the better option read more

Bar 1 is a great neighborhood bar! It's considered a gay bar, but like most of the "gay" bars today, everyone is welcome and all kinds of people are seen there. Bar 1 is very friendly, comfortable and clean. I would consider it upscale but not snobby by any means. They have a beautiful patio, nice living room area and the main bar has plenty of seating at tables and at the bar itself. There are two pool tables and a juke box. My advice is to leave the juke box alone and just enjoy the awesome music videos they play. Personally I think having the juke box is a mistake because as I said, their video library is awesome. If you are nice to your bartender, they will even play something that you want to hear. Drinks are fantastic and they can make just about anything. Try one of their champagne specialties or shot of the month. Always delicious! I am a Jack and Coke drinker and one of the things I like best about Bar 1 is they use real Coca-Cola products. Do you know how important this is? Those knock off soda products that some bars use can almost ruin a drink! There are various specials throughout the week...2-4-1 every Thursday. This bar reminded us of the " Mos Eisley Cantina " .. you know... the bar featured in the Star Wars movie... where Han Solo is found. Strange place... large, very much a renovation in progress.. and has been for quite sometime. I think they are attempting to duplicate the interior of "1313 Mockingbird Lane"... I've been told that this bar was owned by the same people who own Amsterdam.. which I find hard to believe since its SUCH a departure from Amsterdam. I was told by a friend to check this place out ( again ) ... that it got allot better... hmmm not sure what he meant by that. I was hoping that Stacy would be working, since I heard he was working there... but much to our dismay he was not. The drinks were decent, although unsure why they have 2 or 3 different styles of "rocks" glasses, we kept getting our drinks mixed up.
