Location is close to the airport and it's pretty spacious. We had just landed from our flight around lunch and was hopeful from the ratings that this place would be good. However, once our group was seated and order taken, it took us almost an hour to get our food and it wasn't busy. Our food came out cold and several of our orders were wrong. Our waiter rarely stopped by to check on us. They had several BBQ types from other states (TX, Carolinas, TN, etc.) and our group got a variety of meals - none were good. The meats were overcooked and dry. Brisket didn't fall apart, didn't have flavor or the proper ring. Burnt ends were tough. Nashville hot chicken was not the level of spice you'd get in TN. If you enjoy good BBQ from other regions, I would skip this location for BBQ and order something else read more

Pretty decent place. The burnt end nachos were pretty good. The pork quesadillas were pretty good too. They give you a ton of pork quesadillas. I had 4 triangles and there were still 4 more left. We ate some the next day for lunch. Overall this place is pretty legit. Next time I am in the area I will come back for another beer and some chow. I did see someone maoing on some ribs. Great little spot right by the airport! The food was delicious. The burnt ends were a little overdone for my liking, but the green chili cheese grits, Mac & cheese, waffle fries and 1/2 bama chicken were very good. The service was good, but groups over 4 people seemed to be a challenge for the staff. We did have a large group of 8, but we were seated late so we didn't 'bombard the kitchen'. Not a problem, just a little odd when the place was not busy. We also were nicely but heavily suggested to tab out after 45 minutes. First stop in Bozeman! A group of veterans needed sustenance! Our host knew where to take us for sure! BBQ!! The place was very welcoming and had the MT vibe to it. Felt like I was in a cabin up in the mountains. The bar next to our table had a TV or two for those sports enthusiast, while us rowdy veterans were in our own world of excitement. Good food on the way and great company. Our staff was very attentive and patient with our table as we had a ton of questions on drinks and food. There were so many choices, but I ended up with burnt ends, creamy hatch polenta, and fried okras! It was delicious before I even tasted it lol. Best place in town for a regular spot to eat every week. Food varies, sometimes it's cold, and the brisket is dry but usually it's pretty good. Sometimes it's takes forever when there's only 4-5 tables but it is what it is with a bunch of youngins working in the kitchen. Beers are good, and the gals working (usually always a different set) are nice and courteous. Nice ambiance and decorations as well as great apparel and gifts. Definitely one of the best restaurant that we ate at during our trip. Portions was huge. Two combos was enough for four people. Sides was tasty. Most of all meats was yummy! The staff members was also great and attentive. Lots of parking in the area. Although you probably will be confused but this place is located inside a brewery. I had read such great reviews. I went out this last week in the cold to grab dinner to take back to the hotel. That was not actually my goal, but since they closed shortly after I got there, I decided to order my food to go. It took a few minutes to be greeted at the front door as I stood there wondering if I was invisible. Well, I found good barbecue! After the person at the bar took my order and did not say another word to me , they could definitely use a course on friendliness and hospitality. Living in Texas for 13 years I was looking for some good barbecue. However, everything else was a fail. My hotel was less than five minutes away, and my okra was soggy, a good portion, but not at all crispy. They should put holes in the top of the Styrofoam to vent the heat so it does not get soggy. The grits which I looked forward to were clumpy and not tasty at all the mac & cheese, though was the worst it was not even edible. The barbecue sauce was good, and the ribs were very good. It could've been that I came at the end of the night and nothing was fresh, but honestly, I was very disappointed. The ribs are the only reason I gave them a second star. Additionally, you have to come in to the parking area in one direction, and there was a lot of ice and snow midway down where you had to leave. there were two of us that ventured to the Bar 3 for dinner while visiting the area, we went at the suggestion of the hotel desk clerk and another hotel guest. We ordered the brisket sandwich w/ Mac & cheese, the chicken wing appetizer w/ fries and an order of the poutine. The waitress said they would sub the fried with the chicken wings for the poutine since they had been ordered as well. Food: the brisket was okay at best, the three bbq sauces that were brought out get a rating on two ones and one two. When the food was brought out, there was the side of fries AND poutine; the wings were sub par, and the poutine was also okay. The best thing going for our table was the plain fries and the Coke. Service: the food took a little longer than expected with being a bbq restaurant; the waitress only stopped by one time to check on us for refills, and we had to ask the hostess for the check. This place is so hit or miss. I went there the other day and had fast, good service at the bar. Got the pickle chips and grits. The grits are always delicious. Today I went and service was very slow, almost purposely slow. By the time we got our food the pickle chips were burned and this was honestly the worst Nashville chicken sandwhich I have had in Montana. We were on a layover for a few hours and wanted more than what the airport had to offer. Enter Bar 3 BBQ... great, cozy space. I had the electric funeral dark IPA and it was delicious! It's not a usual beer so if you like a full bodied citrusy IPA try this dark, it won't disappoint. Lunch was a walleye taco plate which was good. Put the Alabama white sauce on it for a kick of vinegar. I also tried the platter with burnt ends, ham and pulled pork. They were good but the buns were a little dry hence the 4 star rating . Cute restaurant with a brewery and BBQ. The Sweet Tea is very good! Extensive menu that includes fun options like Deviled Eggs and Cheese Grits including a wide variety of smoked meats. Burnt Ends were a bit fatty and covered in something greasy - maybe a bit of BBQ sauce..not sure. If you are a Celiac or Gluten Intolerant be careful- all of the BBQ sauces that are offered in a bucket have Wheat Flour in them, all four of them! Extremely unfortunate for me and others. I've been thinking barbecue all day today and this was my stop for a full service sit down dinner though there was a wait when I got here so I sat at the bar. Pretty good service from a bartender who looked like he's been working the last 36 hours and trying not to fall asleep. I appreciated the hard work! I tried a sample of the witbier and didn't care for it but ended up with a full ping of their "Kolsche deQuaw" that was excellent and I'm glad I had a full meal with it. My half chicken arrived and it was cooked properly, moist and hot. It was served with a good cole slaw (made in house) and a HUGE bowl of fried okra. On the side, a pot of their Alabama White Sauce that was delicious when the chicken was dipped in it and a small pot of (ranch?) that was great for the okra. I pretty much cleared the plate. I haven't written a review in a long time and unfortunately it was going to take something really good or really bad to get me back on here. I flew into Bozeman with three other guys and we were looking for somewhere good to eat. This was on our way to our destination. It is some of the worst barbecue I've ever had. the bright spots were the wings, the cucumber salad, the beer and the waitress. Outside of that it was pretty terrible. The fried pickle chips were sliced so thin that you were basically eating fried breadcrumb chips We got the St. Louis ribs, which were a full rib that had not been trimmed, full of cartilage and they were incredibly tough and lacked smoke. They were almost impossible to eat. The sliced beef brisket was dry, tough, and also lacked flavor. It was such a disappointing experience, I've made far better of barbecue myself at home. I had really high hopes for this. The grits had good flavor, but were incredibly lumpy. I have to question whether or not this place is actually smoking their own meat. Typically when you get to a good barbecue place, you can smell the smoker outside and inside. There isn't a hint of smoke at any point. read more

Veterans from all over the country head out on this trip and everyone always builds up the hype of this great restaurant - they're right to do so! I stopped in to Bar 3 BBQ just because I needed one chow, but lo and behold, it's actually a brewery as well! So that makes Bar 3 BBQ and Brewing my 237th brewery. Nice that I had some time before my flight today to make at least one brewery visit. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is big and quite nice. I sat at the bar an ss had a flight of four. I'm not going to give individual reviews this time because, well I'm tired and I just don't feel like it. I just want to have a couple beers and eat some BBQ. Sue me... I went with Helles Yeah Brother, Peacemaker Pale ale, Alpenglow amber ale, and the Prince of Darkness nitro Irish stout. I followed that up with a pint of Groomer Cruis'n coconut nitro stout. All were good beers and I won't complain about any of them. For door I ordered a 3 meat tray with brisket, bratwurst, and burnt ends. The brisket could have used a little more time on the smoker for my tastes. The burnt ends were quite good, and bratwurst is, well always good. It was quite busy at lunchtime on a Saturday but still a lot of seating available. The lady at the bar was helpful and friendly.
