The Hyatt Centric is a great hotel. I stay there regularly. I tried Bar 54 for the first time last month. The food is small plates, and very good; perfect for pre-theatre. The view is nice. I understand having security at an establishment. However, a friend who met me for dinner was met with an abrupt attitude in the hotel lobby before being allowed to go up in the elevator. The restaurant was sparsely populated and yet we were asked to wait for all guests to arrive in order to be seated. Once it became apparent that our table of diners was not there to drink a lot of alcohol, it seemed the service went from fair to poor. Bar 54 seems to be tailored to high end customers but falls short on providing the high end service. The drinks were expensive even for NYC standards, the view of the city was okay, the service could also be improved on. We had to give our credit card before ordering which is something I've never before. The waitress was nice but didn't seem to know when to check on us for another drink or to check out. I don't think I will be going back considering there are so many other options in New York. read more

Oh no. Not a tourist trap in this lovely hotel. How do you plan to lure tourists if you need a secret key to get in? The drinks average $27. I got a run of the mill drink with a common liquor and still paid $28 for it. The real kicker was the nerve to TRY to pull a fast one on me and charge me an automatic gratuity of 20% when their menu clearly states it will be done with parties of 5 or more. We were only two. I paid the bill, am considering reporting it, and will never be back. Tourists and natives beware. read more

3 stars for 1 reason and 1 reason only..price...I has 2 beers at 11 each..but my girlfriend had 2 virgin..repeat..VIRGIN piña coladas and they were $16 each..that's right $32 for 2 NON-alcoholic drinks...ridiculous!! My beers were great beers and worth the $22 but the Piña Coladas with no alcohol were not! Not happy...however the atmosphere was great, the view was great and our waiters and bartender Melissa were amazing!! She recommended great drinks, and did not disappoint. On the other hand, our host was not very polite..a bit rude and snooty. For a place with no dress code, when we came in with nice jeans and nice sweatshirts, he looked and acted like we were lower class..pathetic example of customer service. Nice view, but service at the rooftop bar is super slow and bartender was very rude to multiple people in a row as witnessed by me at the back of the line. Also for the rooftop section there is only a limited drink menu with no food or desert. Each "cocktail" on the limited menus takes approx 5 minutes to make. So a line of 5 people took about 25 minutes just to order. That along with the rude service is not worth $30 per drink. Many other rooftop lounges in NYC to spend time and money here. read more

The rooftop view is lovely and atmosphere is nice. Drinks are ok but definitely expensive. The service was bewildered the whole time--they should just ask everyone to order at the bar, rather than this mix-and-match of table service. You're free to go outside to enjoy the rooftop view once you've received a drink, and you're supposed to return to your table to order more drinks, but the servers never check on you (how do they keep track that you've returned?). We basically had to seek out a server when we wanted anything, including to pay. read more

Price: 2 stars - $11 bucks for a Lagunitas Sumpin' Sumpin' and $24 for a cocktail drink are both way overpriced but I guess, this is NYC for you and the view and the excellent service must be priced in. Ok Great View, Amazing!!! Beyond that not so much. No soap in the bathroom, how on earth are those employees washing their hands? My tequila and soda tasted like cheap tequila ( not Casamigo's which I ordered) and the soda was flat. Service sucked....super slow Monday night and it still took forever to get anything. Bar 54, or b54, is on the 54th floor of the Hyatt Times Square. The view is spectacular...especially at sunset. Priority goes to hotel guests, but everyone is welcome. The staff told me that this is the highest rooftop bar in Manhattan! Wow! The drinks are crafty and cool...they have pages of custom cocktails (including a Vespa drink for you James Bond fans), and pride themselves on their mixology. The drinks are around $25 per drink. The view comes with a price! They have a patio and indoor seating, and it is open until 2am on weekends. Go have a drink and relax with that awesome view! read more

I have been here 5+ times and I have never not been close to tears from how amazing the view is. One of the most beautiful views in the city, AND you can drink there! Yes- the drinks are expensive but it's New York City people, not a tiny town with local prices. I always recommend the moscow mules with the candied ginger on top. The bar eats are expensive as well but tasty, especially the olives and the pigs in a blanket. The waitresses are helpful and the space is picture perfect. The best about this place is clearly the view. The drinks are heavily overpriced and to get seated was totally disorganized. Don't believe what they tell you downstairs in the bar about available or unavailable seating upstairs. Just tell them your happy to not have a table and go upstairs. We were told downstairs that it will be a 1h wait for a take on the roodtop terrace. So we said we are fine standing, we get upstairs and after about ten minutes we get a table on the terrace with the best view. A bar in the sky,that's really the best way to describe this place. The sesame popcorn is amazing, the meatballs, meat and cheese dish were also very good. They have a relatively good drink menu but I would not call it extensive. If you are a beer person you will leave wanting a better selection. The most impressive aspect of this bar is the most obvious...the fact it sits on the 54th floor of the Hyatt hotel and decently sized outdoor patio. Please look at my pictures if you don't believe the view is breathtaking... There is little to say other than you just need to experience it for yourself. Few things come close to having a phenomenal view of New York City, in the middle of Times Square are a sexy and chique bar. One minor complaint is that the portion sizes are for toddlers and the drinks are inflated by at least 10000% likely to account for the fact they had to be imported from the lobby floor all the way up. read more

Came here on a Weds. Night after work. Host informed me we had to make reservations for the outdoor seating on the roof but could sit us inside. Once we got to the top, the views were amazing and decor, ambience was loungy which was perfect. After 20 minutes our waiter came by and told us there was seating outside in which he sat us next to a couple so table was shared. The hummus plate was good and martini's ($23 per drink) were tasty. It's worth paying the extra $$ for food and drinks as the views are spectacular! read more

OK there are two different things to rate here: In the first place the views and location are impressive, in the middle of Time Square a 54 Floor... you can imagine flying over NY. Second place service and pricing is not very impressive, service very mediocre and all cocktails are over priced. I ordered a glass of wine at 16$, and they didn't even brought the bottle to pour it in front of me to see it was the wine I ordered, just felt like being served a cheap wine... I made a reservation on OpenTable as was told for Bar54 outdoor bubble during January 2017. After seeing the Facebook viral video at bar 54 with the heated bubbles being outdoor, I thought I give it a try. From the Facebook video it shows there are small bubbles for 2 people but as I arrived there were 2 bubbles outside only and they were the big ones. The only one opened was the big one which has 3 tables inside and we sat in with others to totaling 9 people inside the bubble. It was nice but a bit loud. I guess it depends who your sitting with. The other bubble there was closed which had a sign for private, but a bit smaller than the one we sat in. Looked through the menu and we made an order of two drinks; white walker and sweater weather which is each $26. Bill came out to about $65 including tips and tax. I have to admit it's a nce experience but not worth the hype to sit inside the bubble. Their indoor bar is really cozy feeling, dimmed lights and great music plaing. Staffs serving us were really nice and made sure we were good. Overall I would recommend and come back again. read more

The view is beautiful and the decor is comfortable, but that's where the positives end. Cocktails are $26, which I find overpriced even adjusting for NYC and Times Square. As pointed out in another recent review, the music is all gangster rap and really too loud for such a class place. I noticed one of the house cocktails had Applejack as an ingredient, so I ordered a Jack Rose cocktail. The server asked if I wanted it neat or on the rocks, which took me aback for a moment. Turns out she thought Jack Rose was a kind of bourbon. Once I explained it was a cocktail she said she would ask the bartender. She comes back to report they are out of Applejack and are substituting apple brandy in the house cocktail. She also tells me they are out of grenadine and the bartender suggested he could substitute raspberry syrup since "they only have luxardo cherries so we don't have cherry juice for the grenadine." (Grenadine is made with pomegranates, fyi). Since this Sunday and we are here until Wednesday I ask if they will get more grenadine or Applejack and she tells me no because they are changing their menu to summer "soon" (which is a BS excuse, IMO.) So I settled on a Georgia Smash, which was just ok Husband ordered the meatballs and i ordered the grilled cheese and gazpacho board. Meatballs come out quickly and are very good. After 5+ minutes with no sign of my grilled cheese we ask our server about it. She goes to check and another 10-15 minutes passes, during which my husband finishes his meatballs. Finally my grilled cheese come out (no apology or explanation). It's mostly tomatoes and carmelized onions. It's supposed to have two different kinds of cheese but there is barely any cheese at all and I definitely can't distinguish two different kinds. Gazpacho tastes like it's made with pickle juice. I ask the server what was the hold up was with my plate and she says the meatballs are faster than the grilled cheese (uh...what?) and she didn't realize we weren't sharing. Asked if I wanted her to take it off the bill...uh, yes. My husband is here to meet with potential investors and when we first sat down he asked me to see about making a reservation for 12, but after tonight's experience we will find a different Venue. read more

Been here several times. Brought friends her after seeing a show. Host sat us and suggested we enjoy outside after our drinks were ordered. We went outside on a very hot day and wanted some shade. They had shade cloth seating but all had reserved signs. We asked if we could sit there and was told it was reserved to which I replied, we'd leave when the reservation arrived. We enjoyed our drinks and no one came, so we attempted to order another round and the wait staff completely ignored us and after I directly requested service a server responded that because those chairs were reserved, they could not serve us. They sat me and a girl in a 4-seat table when we arrived. I found it weird, but went with it. It was kind of late so I guess it's not unusual... 15 minutes later, the hostess shows up with another couple and sits them at my table. Both couples confused and not happy about it. Ask for the hostess and she says "this is a shared table, I'm sorry" None of the poeple there were told about this in advance, so you can imagine the akwardness after that. Also, they charged me $48 dlls for one glass of old fashioned. If you're a tourist or a New Yorker, you will appreciate the views from the 54th floor. It's a great place to take a photo! My favorite thing about this place is the drink menu. The drink menu has funny quotes on every other page about drinking. It'll make you want to read every quote and then instagram your favorite one. Lol. I ordered a drink called "charlottes web," Which has hendricks gin and rasberry and it was delicious! When we sat at the bar we got to meet Jacques the bartender. He was extremely friendly and showed us great service. With all the good stuff being said, I would like to now point out the negative. The prices are steep! So steep it will make you consider running out of the place. Its a very expensive place. The minimum price of drinks is $20-25 on a regular cocktail or beer. So have 1 drink or be prepared for a hefty bill! Its a great place to go once to check out or for a lovely date but it will not be a regular spot for me. read more

I'm a huge fan of the view and the ambiance -- very modern, clean, and simply beautiful. As for the view, it is amazing! From what I hear, it's the highest rooftop bar in the city. Despite all the glitz and glam I just mentioned, the drinks are way too overpriced. I mean seriously overpriced, but I guess that's the tradeoff you get for an amazing view. As for the bar, it's a great spot to go to and check out if you want to dress up for a night in the city and splurge. "FEELING ON HIGH" I live one street block away from the HYATT Times Square... Hanging out in a tourist hotel in Times Square is NOT a New Yorker's idea of a good time! But.... I wanted to have drinks at a really good sky bar in the city... "Low and Behold" - it's at my front doorstep! Yes the prices are HIGH - But the drinks are EXCELLENT! The views are PHENOMENAL! And for the most part - it's all about a couple of hours of an experience - it's not meant to be your local Cheers Bar! (unless you've got bottomless pockets $ for cocktails).... This NY'er will return to the "Haven Above the Chaos" (a.k.a) BAR 54... Salute! read more
