Walked around Little Tokyo and ended up at Eat Drink Americano. The restaurant is cozy and service was friendly. Menu was limited but had some good options. I got the avocado toast and was surprised to see that it's on toasty baguette slices. They were so soft and flavorful! Portion was small but I enjoyed it. We arrived about an hour before closing, and I took a Lyft to meet them since parking in this area can be tricky--street spots are limited, though there are garages nearby. I must say that I feel very sheltered when it comes to places downtown Los Angeles has to offer. I've never been to this side of LA before and it was making me wanting to see more. Today I went to lunch with my boss and he chose Bar Americano. Now granted, it isn't far from our office, so I'm glad to be able to try this place. The staff were wonderful and very hospitable. Asking us if we needed anything, and checking to see if we had water. I know that service isn't lost, but these days some place do go the extra step to check in on you once in a while. The establishment had a nice feel to the place and it seemed like a place that would be nice to visit again. The food was very good. I ordered the Togarashi Chicken On-A-Bun and fries. I never write bad reviews, but this experience was very disappointing. We were seated and waited a while without anyone acknowledging us. Not a single "We'll be right with you" or "Sorry for the wait." We even made eye contact with multiple staff members trying to get their attention to ask for water and were completely ignored. Me and the wife were doing some shopping at the callejones. We were driving around and came across this place. Kid friendly and pet friendly. The service was friendly and nice to my family. Sat us down quick and brought out waters. I had their peach old-fashioned and it was bye far the best one I had in a while. I go to a lot of events in this area and I'm always looking for a place that has vegan options and serves wine and Eat Drink Americano offers both so I'll definitely be keeping this place in my rotation! The vibe and decor of this place is so cool. I absolutely loved it. To start we ordered the chips and salsa and those chips were made fresh and crispy! Very tasty. And for my main I ordered the Green Valley Baguette Sandwich. First off the Baguette was so darned good! Just the perfect amount of crunch and chew. The ingredients were good as well. My only complaint is that the hummus kind of melted into the bread so I could barely taste it. Maybe leaving some texture to the hummus instead of blending it smooth might help. Wine was excellent. The owner claims that they would have known if someone was not attended to, but that is clearly false. We got to the restaurant and parked in the handicap section at 8pm sharp, on October 2nd. We had a concert nearby to attend to, so we wanted to eat really quick and go. We were greeted and sat down on the second table to the right of the entrance by a waitress with black hair. We promptly got water and 2 glasses by 8:05pm. Great. She came back around and asked if we were ready, and being repeat customers we knew exactly what we wanted. I ordered the toragashi chicken sandwich, my partner order an expresso martini, a sloppy Joe, and inquired about truffle oil for fries. We waited for 15 minutes, it was 8:20 by this time. It was busy, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Seems like she never put in any of our orders and instead went around to other tables. By this time, a waiter with a short sleeve button up came up to us and said "thank you so much for your patience sorry for the wait!" So your waiter 100% knew we were waiting for a long time already. He confirmed that there was truffle oil and my partner said perfect let's get that on the fries. At this time, 8:25pm (again, time crunch, trying to see the headliner of a concert nearby) a table of 2 sat to our left. They promptly got their tall skinny glasses (not water) and then got 2 lemonades 5 minutes after that, 8:30pm. This was my breaking point. We never even got the espresso martini that we ordered 25 minutes ago. Deal breaker for me. We got up and walked out. My partner was wiling to and would've even paid for the food to go before this happened, but this was ridiculous. I've been here a few times as my this was a spot my partner had been going to for years before I met her. The service was always prompt and the wait staff would atleast walk by and check on us. Not this time. Completely ignored. I've worked at restaurants. This is not how you serve customers. Didn't even walk by or look toward us, no thumbs ups, no asking if we needed anything or nothing. Abysmal service. Please don't lie to customers saying you would have known there was a lack of service when that is contrary to the fact. Come on guys. Just go ahead and own up to your mistake and take accountability (check your cameras too if you don't believe us). As an operations manager, I would've reached out to the customer for a resolution instead of a blanket corporate statement. Do better. Edit - Wow. The restaurant is so cute! Really nice decor and ambiance. Low music playing in the background makes it easy to be able to converse with others which is nice. The staff was super friendly and everything we ordered came out in a timely manner. We ordered a classic margarita, michelada and a boilmaker all of which were delicious! To eat we we ordered their togarashi chicken sandwich, roasted turkey club, chicken tomatillo soup, chicken tinga tostada and fries. When I tell you these dishes were superb! Well all except the chicken sandwich; wasn't bad but kind of basic. However the tostada was LOADED and the meat perfectly cooked. The turkey sandwich was generous in fillings and had a delicious basil aioli. The soup was sooo tangy and again had generously served chicken; chips would be a better match than the bread it came with but regardless really really delicious. I booked a last minute reservation for 15 people (work staff) for lunch time today. Luckily, they had availability and everything ran smoothly. They reserved a space towards the back of the restaurant to accommodate our large party. It was nice because we were able to be more livelier (louder) without annoying other patrons. Our server, Josue, was great! He was on top of everyone's order, was humorous in the process - to which everyone enjoyed and checked on us regularly. In a time where customer service is declining everywhere, it was nice to be taken care of the way Josue did. We started with some delicious beef empanadas along with rose water margaritas and espresso martinis (shout out to the the bartender!). The drinks were yummy and had a nice kick. Most of us ordered the Southwest Chicken Sandwich and they were delicious! My colleague ordered the pastrami sandwich and it was sad. There was only one slice of pastrami in the sandwich. She expected a stacked ,"The Hat" or "Langer's Deli" style pastrami sandwich. So buyer beware! You'll get more bread than pastrami. But other than that, everything was great! A few nights ago, my partner and I went on a stroll down the Arts District/Little Tokyo area after picking up a few reads at The Last Bookstore. We were really just walking around to find something to eat, and we had settled on a taco spot that my boyfriend remembered seeing. We passed by Bar Americano and decided to take a look at the menu. My boyfriend's looking at options, I'm looking at affordability. Both our inspections passed and we decided to dine here instead. Plus, it was really cute inside and not busy. We want to give a major shoutout to our waitress whose name I did not get (or perhaps I just have a horrible memory), but she played a big role in turning our scavenger hunt for food into a romantic dinner date. Highly personable, hilarious, gave great recommendations for after dinner, and also just kept the place bubbly and warm with her energy. On top of that, this is really the first dinner that I can think of where I liked everything. Usually when I go somewhere new, there's always one variable that I don't enjoy. That wasn't the case here. Our beef empanadas (appetizer) were delicious and nice and flaky. My boyfriend has the short rib tacos, and the beef was so tender and juicy. I had the Shepherd's Pie, which I was inspired to get because of Florence Pugh's British foods mukbang with Vogue. It was my first time having it and I inhaled it. I paired it with a Matcha Mule which was unexpectedly tasty and refreshing. We practically cleaned our plates down to the dish. We are so happy we stumbled across Bar Americano. Located just a block away from Hauser & Wirth, the location is very convenient, with lots to do and see in the immediate area. Our group was quite hungry, so we were happy to get a table here without delay. Overall, I thought this restaurant was pretty cool. We wanted to try a new restaurant in the Arts District so we came here. Parking is a bit tough to find, with a lot across the street for $15. I was lucky enough to find a spot on the street. We ordered the hummus board, as I am a huge fan of hummus. We also got the chef's pick chop board, which had this really delicious bread and a spread of other items. Would highly recommend these two apps. For main course, my friend and I shared the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and fried chicken sandwich. I love that they cut the sandwiches before coming back to us and they pre-split the sandwiches. It's these little details that really make a place special. I believe there were only two people working at the time, one at the bar and one a server. It wasn't busy and the place doesnt look that big but overall, we had a great time here. I admire that in a restaurant especially with a complementary drink for my dad since it was his birthday. 10/10. The food option are soooo good. I wish I could've ordered more.
