Bar Avoja has got to be the most beautiful bar I visited in 2025. I'm a big fan of all of Evan Funke's restaurants, and Bar Avoja lived up to the hype as his newest offering. We were greeted immediately by the Mother Wolf host when we arrived (as Bar Avoja is located inside Mother Wolf). While I believed I had made a reservation for Bar Avoja, I had made a mistake and there was no reservation, but the staff were able to seat us immediately when we arrived anyway. The interior of Bar Avoja is gorgeous. With decadent red curtains all around the bar, and a dim-lit interior, it feels a little bit like you're in Eyes Wide Shut. A waitress soon came over to take our orders. She was super friendly and gave us both drink and food recommendations. We ended up ordering four dishes, and were pretty stuffed by the end. The dishes we got included the sfincione (focaccia like a garlic knot), the octopus skewers, squash blossoms, and frittatina alla norma. The sfincione and the frittatina were the standouts of the meal, and they were both carby dishes so they filled us up. There isn't a lot on the menu, so I'm not sure if I'd recommend it as a place to get a full dinner, unless you're okay with the lack of variety.

Bar Avoja is one of the coolest restaurants/bars I've been to in recent memory. The decor and ambiance were on point, and the service was impeccable. Located inside Mother Wolf, the space has an upscale, speakeasy vibe to it. In addition, the food was way beyond expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here and cannot wait to come back. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. I highly recommend it!

Had a delightful Friday evening at this velvety Roman speakeasy behind Mother Wolf. Creative cocktails, small but delicious menu, groovy but not overbearing tunes, and jewel-toned decor made for an experience that felt energetic and social but also cozy. Best of all was the spectacular service -- incredibly friendly and professional with excellent recommendations. Even the bus server was amazing; our water glasses were never empty. Will be back, hopefully soon!

I even enjoyed both a white and a red during my visit. Normally mixing wines can leave me with a headache the next day, but the bartenders paired everything so thoughtfully that the wines complemented each other beautifully, and I felt great afterward. I can't wait to return and experience both the food and wine together next time. Highly recommend!

You can get this type of food and wine at 99 other places with nicer employees, easier parking and much less attitude. The staff behaves as if this was a high school not a wine bar. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. I highly recommend the classic LA ambience at other close by establishments such as The Oaks on Bronson, the Alley in Silverlake or The Cara on Western instead. This place is like a bad Ryan Murphy series. It takes itself way too seriously. I've given them over 4 chances to change my mind since I live around the corner, and they never cease to amaze me when it comes to their entitled snotty staff & overpriced alcohol plus the parking is absolutely impossible! I even had to help customers break out of the parking lot one evening because the gate closes at a particular hour, and the restaurant doesn't even bother to tell you the gates shut at a particular time way before the restaurant closes. you're on your own, good luck getting your car out! avoid this place like the plague. I wish I could get back to $500. I've spent here over the past two years.

I didn't make it here until March 2026 and after my first visit, I'm sorry I didn't come earlier. My husband and I came here on a Sunday night, with a last minute reservation I'd made on Resy. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we came in around 5:30ish. A lot of the tables were empty. They had both indoor and outdoor dining available, but the majority of the seats were indoor. The ambiance here is dark and chic, it reminded me very much of restaurants in NYC. It would make for a good spot for a date night or girls' night out. We made it here in time to order one thing from their happy hour menu, the tater tots. These were heavy but moreish, it was hard to stop eating them even when my stomach was telling me I was full. We also shared the corn, which I believe may have been a special/seasonal dish. It will go down as one of the best corn dishes I've ever eaten in a restaurant. My husband got the burger for his main and I got the mussels. The mussels were pretty fresh and silky, and were overall excellent, but I didn't love the broth they came in. My husband's burger was fantastic. It's one of the best burgers I've eaten at a restaurant in LA. Service was lovely and efficient. I'm looking forward to dining here again, and would highly recommend trying it.

But they definitely help you with picking the right options. The staff was super nice and friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. The appetizers were pretty good too. We had the fries, brussel sprouts (best choice), tater tots, olives, marcona almonds and hummus. This place is perfect for either date night, cute meet up with a friend or after work with co workers.

The restaurant/wine club is very quaint and has lots of character. We were greeted by the host who immediately seated us in the club room. There is lots of seating indoors and outdoors. We started off with a couple of glasses of white wine, which were recommended by Sienna, and the Mezze Board, which was an excellent pairing of harissa hummus and honey lavender whipped feta, served with pita. This was so good, we actually ordered another one to take home. For our main course I ordered the ribeye steak and my wife ordered the tiger prawns. Both were incredible. Each dish was perfectly cooked, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. We finished with a slice of basque cheesecake which was amazing. All the dishes were delicious and all the flavors meshed well when mixing sauces with different items. Steak was thick but somehow still remained perfectly juicy and medium rare, one of the few steaks that I think are good to eat in one bite without cutting because each large piece had so much nuanced flavor per chew. Loved the caesar beef tartare too, and how it was already cut into small pieces! Housemade caesar dressing was hitting with the anchovies, and the sourdough was perfectly toasted. Parking is metered or neighborhood parking, can be a bit tricky but we always seem to get lucky in this area. Service was so friendly and sweet, water was constantly refilled even on a busy night. I love how efficiently they've used the sq footage and even though there are many people dining in at once, it doesn't feel crowded due to the layout. Both bathrooms were clean and we dined in around 8:30 PM.
