V Wine Room is one of the most charming places to have a glass of wine with a group of friends in West Hollywood and a wonderful spot for a date. The inside is cosy and casual, and it's a bit romantic. There's usually a nice buzz of people in the late afternoon. This intimate bar first opened in West Hollywood in 2013. The entrance is on the side of a beautiful historic Hollywood Spanish Gothic style building on Westbourne Drive, off Santa Monica Boulevard. You could almost miss it from the street as it's kind of hidden which is definitely part of its charm. About a century ago it was a studio for silent film star Charlie Chaplin and later a library for Sherman, which was the name of West Hollywood before it was incorporated. So this is a beautiful and historic location with a fascinating history, V Wine Room serves about 30 different wines by the glass and a large selection by the bottle, mostly small California wineries from the Napa Valley. The menu also features sparkling wines, natural wines and sakes from small Japanese producers. We hosted an engagement celebration here tonight for my good friends James and Maui and it was absolutely magical. From the moment we arrived, the team was incredibly accommodating, and having the owner, Adam, present and involved made the experience feel extra special. You can tell this place is run with real pride and passion. The space itself is stunning -- rich with history (we were told it was once Charlie Chaplin's studio and later a library), and you feel that character everywhere you look. Books line the walls, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere that's both elegant and inviting. The staff was attentive, kind, and on top of everything all evening, and the food was fantastic. She was seemed bothered to serve me and barely checked in. How have I not left a review?? V Wine Room is such a perfect cozy neighborhood gem, and I'm so sad I moved away from West Hollywood shortly after discovering them near my condo. There's no shortage of tables so I've gone often with a book or studying and felt at ease (though if you're really reading, I'd take a small clip on book light just in case). Came here on a Saturday around 5:45 and got the 7-piece charcuterie board with 5 cheeses and 2 meats for $48. We also got the 3 half-glass wine flight for $35. We were able to be seated without issue since it was just two of us, but we noticed that around 6:30, things started filling up, and it seemed like only people with reservations or parties under two would be able to be seated quickly. So if you're coming during peak hours or in a larger group, definitely make a reservation! Our servers were very friendly and helpful. Everything we had was amazing, though in hindsight, we would have preferred to have 4 cheese and 3 meats for a better balance. They were kind enough to refill our crackers when we ran out. I almost don't want to leave a review of V Wine Room because then this hidden gem will become more popular! But I simply have to, because it's one of my absolute favorite spots in LA. When I say hidden, I mean hidden -- it's on a quiet street off Santa Monica Blvd and it's a "blink or you'll miss it" kind of barfront. The historic building was once home to Charlie Chaplin's studio and a library before opening its doors as V in 2013. I've frequented this bar for years and it never, EVER disappoints. Every bartender is super knowledgeable about wine (thank goodness!), and is unbelievably friendly and welcoming to boot. There are always so many delicious-sound wines to choose from, and they'll let you taste before selecting. You can also get cheese and charcuterie or even order sushi from the restaurant around the corner. They even have a happy hour for their first hour every day, where wines that were opened the night before are $2 off. How can you lose?! (Answer: you can't.) On my most recent visit, Craig was manning the bar and couldn't have been more helpful. But, really, no matter who's there that day, you'll be treated well! While I love how quiet and unassuming this wine bar usually is, I couldn't hold in the secret any longer. Do yourself a favor and head to V Wine Room the next time you're in Weho! read more

Craig is our sommelier a majority of the time and his knowledge of pairings, recommendations is truly impressive. Craig offers us not only his favorites, but caters to what our taste preferences are, and has a unique ability to combine the two for the perfect experience. V Wine Room has an extensive list, and while they used to only serve sushi, they now offer sake, and a variety of food options. We had the pepperoni pizza that is made in house - and we were so impressed! We already have selected our next food and drink pairing for our next visit. The charcuterie boards are always to perfection. The spicey jam that comes with the menu options is our personal favorite - and it is offered for purchase by the jar. It's truly delightful when paired with your favorite meats/cheeses. It would be incredible if V Wine Room offered a pairing class/sommelier class, and I am attaching a photo of a wine I hope one day they bring back! One of my favorite things about this place is the staff -- I know close to nothing about wine and they've always given good recommendations without being pretentious (which is rare for a wine bar...and for being a wine bar in WeHo specifically). It doesn't get too crowded and it's fairly easy to find a place to sit. I've come here a few times to have a glass of wine while doing a bit of work and never had issues getting a table. Since it's not too loud, this would also be a great place to catch up with a friend, or a few, over some drinks without having to scream across the table. Lastly, they put together my favorite charcuterie board (hands down) -- I usually get the cow milk-only board since I'm not into sheep/goat milk.
