The drinks were great, oysters small but acceptable quality (as you'd expect for happy hour) good fries, good complementary truffle parm popcorn. Only gripe is the service was kind of inattentive but it did get pretty busy in there. Also if you're seated in the middle of the bar near the piano, note that's where the band will play. We were treated to popcorn instantly but my mouth was watering for those oysters. Happy hour goes from 5:00 to 7:00 and I was going to make every minute count. There aren't a whole lot of frills for their oysters and that's exactly how I like it. The cocktails that were available during happy hour were a happy compliment to the food. We had one of their daily special drinks and then I switched over to their sparkling wine which is my favorite drink to have with oysters. Had such a great experience here last weekend! The happy hour was pretty affordable and the bites were delicious. We got complementary popcorn and the servers were very attentive. They moved us to accommodate the food that we ordered, and moved us back when the folks next to us were getting raucous. Drinks are well made and strong. I can't remember the name, but get the spicy watermelon marg-esque drink. Shoutout to Kiwi and the staff for making the ambience super welcoming. On the way out, we were offered a shot on the house, and when I said I wasn't drinking at that point in the night, they made me a delicious immunity "shot." This was a really cute find. My friend and I had exhausted our LES hang out spot and wanted to try somewhere new. Bar Belly came up in a Yelp search and a colleague confirmed it was a good choice. It's a super cute, dimly lit cocktail bar. The Happy Hour specials are incredibly, reasonably priced. I had the penicillin and an old fashioned. The Belly fries were delicious, but more importantly the spicy, chipotle sauce they come with. We lucked out and got serenaded with live jazz and had the perfect evening catch up sesh. I dont like to rate low. So I am giving a three star. Picture the loudest thing you have heard. Perhaps it is a jet engine, loud boom, something of the sort. We ultimately were moved after ordering 4 dozen oysters that didn't fit on our table. We picked bar belly for the $1 oyster happy hour and the oysters were amazing. Fresh and sizeable. We ordered 3 rounds of 4 dozen and it took about 20 minutes between each round to have the oysters shucked. The oysters were definitely the highlight of the night. The fries were also very good and had seafood seasoning that made them addictive and we ordered 3 rounds. The happy hour drink selection was basic and we opted to get their signature cocktails. Our group ended up trying at least one of each and they were all delicious. Burnt love, dead witch, invisible woman, knight rider were crowd favorites. I did order a mango #5 but something in it had a spoiled flavor I didn't like and the waiter was nice enough to switch it out for a different cocktail. We ordered the deviled eggs which were delicious and hit the spot when we started to get hungry. The charcuterie board was pretty standard and on the smaller side. Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks, and their popcorn had just the right amount of olive oil and salt drizzled over it. I came with a group for happy hour, and it was the perfect place for us. The drinks were great and the snacks even better. We ordered $1 oysters (you have to order at least six, but after that you can order in whatever weird quantity you desire) and the Belly Fries. The oysters were pretty tiny, but they were a dollar, so I feel like it's an okay trade-off. The fries were amazing though. They were so crispy and well-seasoned. I've always been satisfied with the food: the oyster HH is great, the fries and the charcuterie board are also solid choices. I'll admit I've never really sat down for a full blown dinner here, but this is a go-to spot for some nosh. It is sad to say, but it used to be my fav place to hang out with friends, but "new policy" made it the place to stay away from. Long story short - I used to go here with friends for past 3 years, and this place truly won out hearts over - nice service, good food, and good decor, but the last time we got a little surprise waiting for us. The waitress added 20 % tip to our bill (it was 3 ppl and our check was around 250$) and said that it is a new policy "when they are getting busy". I know it is hard time right now, but I feel that is if not a fair to customers where without customers consent tips are added. I came here during their happy hour (5pm-8pm daily). For my first drink I ordered the old fashioned ($8) which was good and on the sweeter side. For my second drink I got the Pineapple Express ($9) which was obviously sweet. You can't really go wrong with pineapple in your drink. For my third drink I got the bar belly penicillin ($8) which was good as well. I was very happy that the ginger was not overpowering and the bartender (shoutout to Gin who was awesome adn we had great conversations) said that it might be because they make the ginger syrup in house. They have a limited cocktail menu for their happy hour but they were all good drinks. I also tried some of their happy hour $1 oysters which were kind of small but not bad. It was chill when I came at 5pm but on the weekends when they have live music Gin says it gets packed and turns into a club with dancing and whatnot. Also, make sure to ask for the free popcorn! Now I usually don't eat popcorn because I hate how it gets stuck in my teeth. Gin asked me if I wanted some and I said no. As she passed it to other people multiple people commented, "this is the best popcorn I've ever had" and asked what was in it. It turns out they have truffle oil and sugar which was so intriguing I had to try it myself. I asked for a little bit but I found myself eating a lot so yeah it's pretty dang good. Bar Belly is a great Happy Hour spot that serves $1 oysters, $6 belly fries and a decent selection of drinks ranging from $5-$12. My friends and I arrived for HH at 5pm and it got crowded within 30 minutes. Tip: try to have your group arrive all at once because there's literally no room to expand once it gets busy. I know $1 HH oysters is a great deal but it would've been better if the oysters weren't so sandy. The belly fries were more enjoyable since they were seasoned well and had just enough crisp. As for the drinks, I personally enjoyed the Moscow Mule (contains ginger) even though it was not that strong. The Jackalope Spritz is good if you like sweet and bubbly drinks. The Old Fashioned is good if you enjoy the taste of pure alcohol, specifically bourbon. Overall a decent spot to enjoy a few drinks and snacks, and hang out. Weird that the rating is less than 4 stars - I've been here a couple times and had a good experience both times. It's a nice, intimate feeling spot with a decent amount of space between tables and dim lighting. Most recently, my friend and I shared the delicious burrata salad, watermelon and feta salad, and the impossible burger sliders. As it was a later stop in our night, I just stuck to a couple of beers.
