We celebrated my cousin's 30th birthday at Jac's on Bond, and his wife rented the private room in the back for the party. For a group event, it worked out really well. The private space felt separate enough from the main restaurant to allow everyone to relax, mingle, and enjoy the celebration without feeling cramped. The staff did a great job taking care of our group, and service throughout the evening was friendly and attentive. The catered food was also well done. There was a nice variety of options for the group, and the cheese board was particularly impressive--beautifully presented and a great centerpiece for guests to snack on while socializing. The only downside for me came when it was time to leave. The main restaurant and bar area were absolutely packed, and making our way through the crowds was a bit overwhelming. That's more a reflection of how popular the place is on a Saturday night than anything else, but it did reinforce that it's probably not somewhere I'd choose to visit during peak hours for a regular night out. That said, for a private event, the space was excellent. I made a reservation for 3 of us on a Monday night and I'm glad I did because even though they were not packed, they were still full. To be honest I don't remember the other drinks I ordered. I only remember the caprese martini because that's the only thing I will be drinking here from now on. Prices are what you would expect for craft cocktails in this area. Love this space for a girls' night or a date. There's a pool table and a bunch of small tables with a couple of booths in the back. Note the space is pretty small, so it's not ideal if you're with more than a couple people, plus would make a reservation if you can. I came by jacsonbond last night with some of my girlfriends - as you know it gets crowded. I was walking over to meet my friend at the bar and there was a young gentleman standing next to me, holding a stick because he was blind. I didn't want to be rude to him, so I said excuse me and went by him slowly so I didn't push him or startle him, in which the young gentleman said "no problem". I got to my friend and went to order a drink and one of your bartenders says to me "I don't know if I want to serve you after what you did" which I go huh? I said excuse me and he said no problem. The bartender continued to say no you didn't I saw you, what do you want. The bartender had shaggy hair and an accent. Easy to miss when walking by, Jac's on Bond is tucked away on the side street, down a few steps, there is usually a security guard in front checking ID. The spot is a lot smaller than I expected & dimly lit. It was pretty quiet around 6pm but got a lot busier after 7 (on a week night) Note this is a cocktail bar so the menu is very small and limited. Great bar. Good drinks. Strong energy, solid crowd, and the cocktails were actually balanced instead of just being sugar bombs with a cute garnish. I would've stayed for another round. However, I got seated about two feet from the bathroom, which immediately shifted the vibe. Not just near it. Practically guarding it. Every time the door opened, I got a fresh rotation of traffic, noise, and whatever scent happened to escape. It felt less like I was at a table and more like I was part of the restroom waiting area décor. There was a woman who I believe was the bathroom attendant, and she stationed herself so close to our table that it genuinely felt like she was in our party. I understand she's working and doing her job, but she was hovering within arm's reach the entire time. No buffer, no spatial awareness, just fully present in every beat of our conversation. At one point I half expected her to weigh in on the topic or ask how the drinks were. It made the whole experience oddly tense. Hard to relax, hard to talk freely, constantly aware of someone standing inches away while strangers lined up beside you. A couple of weeks ago, I witnessed an incident where some very drunk patrons, including someone named Omar, were aggressive toward both guests and staff, even breaking glasses. Despite being kindly asked to leave, they refused, and the manager had to step in. Omar claimed it was due to his identity, but it was strictly about his behavior. This place has been open for over a month and no one has posted full menu pics (???). I kinda hate when a food/bev biz doesn't post a menu so... here you go. $20 drinks. Pretty much the norm now! We had a reservation, and they ask you before you enter if you have one, but once we got inside, we saw the place was absolutely packed with plenty of people standing... so I guess walk-ins are okay if they have space. Staff are very nice. Space is dark, cool, cute, and not too loud. There's a pool table, and it's free to use! They did a nice job transforming this place from The Smile brunch spot that previously existed here. All good stuff. However, I'm here for the cocktails and while I'd give 5 stars for creativity and generous pour, the 2.5 we tried just weren't very tasty. The Rum-Com and Caprese Martini had really strong popcorn and balsamic vinegar flavors respectively, and not in a pleasant way. Beets Nothing literally tasted like chilled borscht. Hey, maybe I'm missing the point here, like maybe they're doing Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Cocktails. But tbh I just didn't find these to be very drinkable! They're not balanced, not palatable - just strong on one, gimmicky flavor that feels kind of sickly by the end. Honestly probably would have had a better experience just ordering a classic cocktail rather than one of their creations. Can't say much about the food, we just got the chips and melted cheese - which was tasty but nothing wild. The food is by the team behind Contra, which I love, so there are probably some hits hidden in the food menu. No free bar snacks btw. Best part: there was a consistent line of 2-4 people for the bathroom and every single person, without fail, asked the attendant standing beside it "is this the only bathroom?" So yeah probably won't come back since there are just so many alternatives closer to where I live, but all in all great effort! Also noticed how crazy inflated this place's rating is on Google. Visited in April for drinks and dessert. We had Jac's Chocolate Mousse and the Creamsicle Pie. I loveedddd both. The chocolate mousse took me by surprise though because I wasn't expecting so much chocolate dust and I inhaled it as I ate it and it went through my nose and mouth at the same time, but I still loved every bite of it. I think my favorite dessert was the Creamsicle because it's so creamy and it reminded me of a creamsicle pop I would have as a kid. Overall really liked the orangey cream taste. Also love how they gave us whipped cream on the side. The one thing I don't like about the place is how there is one bathroom though. Super long line and wait time to use the bathroom. Would have been nice if they converted the one bathroom into two or two toilet stalls. Music could be dimmed down a bit since it's already very loud. I have to give a shout out to an employee--I can't remember his name...the young man, a server who wears glasses. He was SO NICE! Great service so understanding and polite. He allowed me to use the bathroom downstairs because it was an emergency and he walked with me to make sure I wouldn't trip and fall. Such a kind gentleman. As the bouncer was escorting us out he yells NO F****TS Allowed. I have never experienced being hated nor kicked out of a bar for being gay. And to be called that by an employee is absolutely outrageous and hurtful. We were paying customers and spent a lot there and to get kicked out and get called a homophobic slur is ludicrous. After hearing about this place I wanted to check it out and thought Monday night was a good time to do so (I've been seeing it gets really crowded on weekends) when we got in we were told that there weren't any tables open for two (which was true they were all taken) but two people were leaving the bar area as we got there so we snagged those. I was very interested in the Caprese Martini which I thought was fabulous and so unique and it was nice to sit by the bar. The crowd here on a Monday was great and I think I would come back on a weekend because there honestly is a TON of standing room. I just had to leave a review for this gem of a spot. It was an early Saturday night when I was greeted by the sweetest host who snagged my friend and I a window, corner seat. I barely looked outside though because the people watching was too great inside. The first thing I noticed was the glowing, warm lighting in a beautiful, upscale yet comfortable interior coupled with great music. Ambiance was top notch. We ended up sharing drinks and snacks. Highlights included the meatballs, the jamon bikini sandwich, which made me start planning my next trip to Spain, and the chocolate mousse. They were all absolutely delicious. I loved how they were prepared with not only a lot of thought on taste but also on ease of consuming. Perfect, lovely finger foods for a date night But the cocktails, those were my fave. I always order Mezcal when I see it and the Starlit did not disappoint. It was a novel carrot and pineapple combo I've never had before. So yummy, the flavors were beautifully matched. I judge places by their espresso martinis and this one was just gorgeous with the chocolate mousse. My friend raved about his dirty martini, talking about how hard it is to get a great one.
