Last night in Philly called for a visit to Bar Bombón, where authentic Puerto Rican flavors meet a modern, plant-based twist. Cool atmosphere shared with good company, paired with refreshing drinks. A huge shoutout to the attentive staff who went beyond to make the evening special. While everything was tasty, standouts were the deep flavors of romesco in the albóndigas and the crunchy texture of the oyster mushroom tacos. Full order included guacamole fresca, sweet plantains w/ aioli, hearts of palm tacos, and chorizo stuffed poblano pepper. (not pictured). Bonus: the menu clearly marks gluten-free options. It's great to find a place that feels authentic while remaining entirely veg-forward. If you're in the city, stop by for a taste of Puerto Rico.
Another great visit to Bar Bombón. Arrived a few minutes early to our reservation and they sat us which luckily gave us about 10 minutes to order some HH drinks!! Service was super friendly and the food was amazing, would never know it's all plant based!
I actually made a reservation since were visiting from out of town but arrived almost an hour early and were sat immediately. Our server, Ttendo took great care of us and gave great suggestions for items on the menu that were vegan friendly for my friend. I did not enjoy the meatballs I ordered but the way they handled the situation is why they get 5 stars!
We were greeted when we walked in. Great customer service. Tindo was our waiter. He was AMAZING. The manager was also helpful. We were able to get a sticker for parking for a small discount. I was able to take advantage of the $23 meal. My fish tacos (heart of palms) were a 10/10. Everything was super good and flavorful. My ENTIRE soul was happy.
I've been here a few times, most recently for an early dinner after work on a weekday. I made a reservation but it was pretty quiet when I arrived around 6. My server was quick to get my order which was just the buffalo cauliflower tacos which I just keep getting every time. They are spicy, decent size tacos that leave me feeling just the right amount of full. I like really the spicy buffalo flavor. I was in and out quickly and had a very pleasant time.
We only got a tres leches cake so cannot speak on the other options here. This cake was very dense, sweet, and rich (in the best way). Super coconutty, with a generous amount of shredded coconut. I found the cake overall to be a tad too sweet with the pineapple (puree?)on top. I would get this again
My friend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon and we didn't have a reservation, but they were able to seat us right away. Our server was very friendly and informative when I asked questions about what he recommended, especially since we were trying to narrow down our appetizer and entree picks. For my drink, I got a mango agua fresca. It tasted sweet and refreshing. For appetizer, we shared the philly steak empanada (two pieces - one for each). I liked the flavor of the empanadas and the meat inside was quite juicy. For the entree, my friend ordered impossible tacos and I ordered the hearts of palm 'fish' tacos. My friend and I swapped one taco each so we could try both. For the impossible tacos, they were seasoned well but they tasted very ordinary to me. Nothing special. However, I really enjoyed my hearts of palm 'fish' taco. I thought the fried hearts of palm, corn, and sauce gave a nice texture, taste and mouth feel. Last but not least, for dessert, he ordered the tres leches cake and I ordered the bittersweet chocolate pudding. The tres leches cake was dense and a little more on the sweet side. I was not a fan of my bittersweet chocolate pudding though. Since it was pudding on the menu, I thought it would have a pudding-like texture, but it almost looked like ice cream. Also, the taste of the pudding was very bad. It was grainy and reminded me of chocolate chickpea pudding. Even though I don't like to waste food, unfortunately, I could only take a few bites of the pudding and I couldn't finish the rest. Other than my dessert, I did enjoy the food and service here overall. I would come back just for the 'fish' tacos. :)

We didn't realize it was vegan when we walked in and it isn't really advertised as such, so my friend was a little disappointed by that but we stayed anyways. I got the breakfast tacos off of the brunch menu, and my friend had the impossible tacos. They both looked pretty similar - two medium tacos covered in pico de gallo and pickled cabbage. The breakfast tacos were well seasoned didn't "taste vegan" but I don't eat much meat. My friend also thought the impossible tacos were pretty good. Overall I thought this spot was good but not amazing. I would come back if I needed a quick spot in the area, but wouldn't necessarily seek it out.
Made a reservation for my friends birthday, we're from out of state and picked this place on a whim based on it being entirely planet based, and also the overall vibe felt cozy yet chic. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Our server was Bryce and he was absolutely :3outstanding. We were sat timely and waited on expertly with the perfect amount of timing in between checking in on us. Our drinks were so good and we tried a couple that were out of our normal comfort zone at the suggestion of our waiter and he did not disappoint!! Every single item of food we ordered came out of the kitchen very timely, and was seemingly timed perfectly. My review would be novel length if I went into detail on every item we had- just know that every thing was absolutely divine. We couldn't shut up about the foodn the food 10 out of 10.
Had a really great experience at Bar Bombon! We ordered the braised short empanadas, and Spanish meatballs, and loved all of it. Everything was so flavorfulf and balanced. The place itself is super cute and well-designed, and the vibe is really warm and cozy. The service was also really friendly and attentive, which made it even better. Will be coming back!
There were some highs and lows to this place but overall a good experience. We got the meatballs since the pictures looked really good and we don't usually get the chance. When they came out, they dropped somw of the bread on the table which wasn't a big deal but they got us somw extra anyway which was nice. The meatballs and sauce were good but they were pretty cold which makes me think they either get them pre-made or make a tone and freeze them. Either way that part was a little off putting. The taste was pretty good though and went well with the fluffy bread.
Parking is a nightmare in the area, not just for this business. You may spend a long time looking for street metered parking. I ordered the nachos with only jackfruit, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, and avocado slices... It ended up coming with corn on it. So I just picked the corn out. It tasted okay. I wouldn't order it again. The staff were okay. They answered all of my questions. The bar sitting is not comfortable because you have to basically air in the walkway to keep your knees from hitting the bar. The table doesn't come out far enough so you have to lean a whole lot... not good for posture. I probably should take 1 star away, but the service was okay so I'm giving this place 3 stars for just okay

Went for dinner here on my recent trip to Philly. Super casual vibe, pretty crowded when we went, but the service was still fast and really friendly, which made a big difference. Staff felt genuinely welcoming. Food was super flavorful across the board. We got the loaded nachos with jackfruit and the chili stuffed dish - both were honestly delicious. Nothing felt like it was missing just because it was vegan; everything was well-seasoned and satisfying. Overall, loved everything we ordered. Also random note, but I was obsessed with their plates... lowkey wanted to take them home lol. read more

We walked in on a Saturday night and got seated almost immediately, even though it was pretty busy. Honestly, we were just looking for a dinner place and were shocked that it was vegan! We ordered the Peruvian yuca and sweet plantains to split. I'm not a huge fan of aji amarillo and felt there was too much of it (I would've preferred it on the side), so the yuca wasn't my favorite dish, but it was still a solid appetizer. The sweet plantains were delicious, a classic, and exactly what I expected. The aioli was also nice, balancing out the sweetness. For my entree, I ordered the oyster mushroom tacos with the citrus salad. The oyster mushrooms were perfectly fried, but I felt like they were the slightest bit bland and I didn't love that there weren't any sauces to go with them. The citrus salad is interesting in that the "citrus" is a lemon-based dressing(?), but it's actually mostly tomatoes. read more

I loved bar bombón!! It's a cozy but well decorated spot. Initially, I selected the restaurant because of its completely vegetarian / vegan friendly menu. Every dish is crafted so creatively and packed with delicious vegetables. It was a dream trying to pick a dish, since I had TOO many options for once! That's incredibly rare as a vegetarian. We settled on splitting nachos and a taco to try both dishes. Not only did the food taste exceptional, but the prices couldn't be beat. Despite being close to the end of the day, we were served quickly and with care. I'll have to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu. read more
Many sources telling me about Bar Bombon meant I had to make a reservation well in advance to secure a spot for Valentine's Day weekend. I think I booked this in the beginning of January but I'm so happy I did. I want to preface this review by saying this restaurant is TINY. Very slim walkways and the tables are close together. It didn't bother me but I could see how it might be annoying in the winter especially with heavy outdoor garments. I was unaware that the serving style was tapas but I was not mad about it. The Mexican Street Corn came out first, it was a little spicy but tasty! Good sized portion for sharing. Impossible Tacos had my mouth watering - honestly pretty basic ingredients but they made for a delicious entree. There were quite a few entree options I was interested in but for some reason the tacos stood out to me. Pleased with my decision. Philly steak empanadas were excellent but I wish they had a little bit more cheese. The spicy ketchup on the side was a great addition. The Tres Leches cake was moist and rich. The pineapple on top was the best part. Coconut milk smothering the entire slice was a good call on their end. Service was great despite it being a busy night! We had several people wait on us/bring us our food and everyone was extremely kind. I'd recommend this spot for an intimate date night or happy hour with friends. read more

Finally tried this vegan latin spot and loved it! The space has a modern, stylish vibe. Jackfruit Birria Vegan Tacos (4/5) - The consommé was rich and flavorful and the tacos were crunchy and savory Double Chorizo Burger with Papas Fritas (4.5/5) - Incredibly satisfying with great texture and spice. The fries were perfectly seasoned and so crispy! Some of the best fries ever. The place was relatively empty during lunchtime on a weekday and the service was attentive and friendly. A must-visit for vegans and non-vegans alike! read more
This was such a great spot to meet my co-worker for happy hour! I got the fish tacos (which apparently I also got back in 2016). Anyway, they are still AMAZING, Nicole knows what she's doing. I also got to try the street corn appetizer this time, and split that with my co-worker. It was delectable. Bar Bombón was a great surprise. I did not realize it was fully plant based going in, but everything was solid. Reservations were easy to book and we were seated right away. Our waiter gave excellent recommendations. We started with the guac and chips, which were good. I had the Philly steak empanada and the buffalo cauliflower taco, and the empanada absolutely stole the show. My girlfriend had the heart of palm fish taco with rice and beans and the house salad, all of which she enjoyed. We skipped dessert this time but will definitely try it on our next visit! So happy for a full on plant based experience! Thank you, Bar Bombón! Came on the recommendation of a local on a Wednesday night. Did not anticipate needing a reservation on a Wednesday and it turns out this place is so popular you do. Fortunately, the very kind hostess was able to find a single seat outside left that I was able to be seated at for service. The cocktail menu was wonderful and I ordered a delicious cocktail along with an appetizer of the plantains, which were amazing. For dinner I chose the meatballs. The sauce for the meatballs was really good. The meatballs themselves seem to be a premade Impossible-type plant based product. All my servers were superb. I have only the highest price for them. Location was in a gorgeous corner of Rittenhouse Square. Highly recommend for both happy hour and for dinner. read more
Finally tried this place. I found reservations for the same evening which was surprising cause it was packed. I'm vegetarian but not vegan but it's nice to find a place where I can eat without stressing. I got the mango margarita with a spicy rim and I loved it. I also got the nachos. Nachos were really good. It was quite loud and the wait to get checked up on also took a while but understandable since it was so busy. Will return to try other options. read more
You can never go wrong here. My dad is vegan, mom and wife are not. They actually enjoyed too! I've been here so many times I probably tried everything on the menu. The drinks are good too! Cute place, small shotgun style layout. Happy Hour is a good way to get a try of everything for little dollars. The food is flavorful and you will have a hard time picking just one thing. The service is quick and friendly. You will not be upset and these pics are just one of the many times I've gone. And easily a go to when you in Rittenhouse read more

Great service and nice music! The impossible tacos were really good. Wish the tortilla was toasted. The sweet plantains were very good loved the garlic aioli sauce it came with. Interesting that they had salt gave it nice taste. Corn was okay, didn't love the loaded yuka "cheese" not my favorite. Our waitress was really nice! read more

Stopped in for brunch and had an amazing time! This is a vegan restaurant and by far the best I've had in that area. Service was friendly and food was delicious! Got the burger with fries to go along with the Tres Leche cake. Didn't try it yet but looks incredibly tasty. read more
I've had my eye on this place for a long while and finally got the opportunity to try it. My friend and I were heading to an event and wanted to get happy hour before. We walked in at about 4:30 and were seated at an outdoor table. I thought the food was delicious. I reminded my friend a couple of times that it was vegan. So good! We stayed with the happy hour menu and were delighted with each bite. The empanadas were delicious and the quesadillas were one of our favorites. I ordered the Mac taco and it was so creative and delicious! Creamy, fake-cheesy and adorned with a dill pickle. The drinks were made well and kept us satisfied. I would like to try more on the regular menu. I recommend! Whether you are vegan or not! read more

First time here and we did not enjoy it. The plantains were great and tasty but nothing else was. The enchiladas with mole were extremely dry and had a a very bad flavor. My friend and I both did not finish them. The beans and rice also had barely any flavor, we were very disappointed. read more

A gem of a place!! My daughter and I were in the city overnight and my daughter being plant base was looking for restaurants with these options. We loved the menu and made a reservation. Upon entering, we walked to the dining area where a young lady was standing. Not sure if she worked there, I politely asked her if she worked there. She, looked at me and just said "Yeah..." but nothing followed. So we proceeded to say we had a reservation. She, Shannon is her name, said "OK....again, nothing followed. We said "we like to be seated" and she was "what's the name" we told her, found it, grabbed the menus, and sat us..told us our waiter Tatiana would be with us soon and left. We were so perplexed with this interaction, that we were hoping our server would be better. And she was!! She was amazing! We pretty much forgot about rude Shannon! Now, for the food-one word: AMAZING!!!! The Yuca was delicious, although I would have the sauce on the side to prevent the yucca from becoming soggy, nevertheless, delicious! Then, the Philly cheesesteak empanadas! So good! A bit more cheese please, but fantastic! I ordered the Enchiladas de Mole, Wow oh wow! Out of this world delicious and the Heart of Palm tacos were outstanding! To drink, had the Cantaloupe Paloma with tajin rim, oh so freshening! For dessert, Tres Leches, not your typical Tres Leches, the flavors just dance in your mouth! We gobbled that thing in 2 minutes! Is THAT good! Overall, 10 out of 10!!!! Our server Tatiana, was outstanding!! Made our evening and experience so much better! She rocks! Go try this place, whether you're plant based or not. Highly recommend. read more

Really cute location. But very small. Bar upon walk in was very cozy, not much space to wait if you are holding for a table. When seated, we were told the food comes out as it is made (tapas style) which worked! Beso Romero cocktail was great. Food however lacked flavor. The "chorizo spiced beef" just tasted like warmed impossible meat- which to me is off-putting. Philly Cheese Steak Empanada was not as Philly as they thought. Again, lacked flavor. Plantain's were plantains, can't really mess those up. This visit was not a good representation of Puerto Rican/Latin flavor or culture...vegetable based or not. If I was to return, it would be with grace and a drink at the bar. read more

We're a true vegetarian crew, and Bar Bombón exceeded all expectations! Every dish was better than the last, the staff were warm and welcoming, and they even surprised us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate our special day . A must-try for vegetarians and food lovers alike! read more

Yeah, the description is kinda nonsense. It's latin-inspired things from everywhere imo. The food's good, but I never go in expecting it to be loyal to anything.
