I had been wanting to try this place out for a while and one day was craving pasta, so I decided to go. I ordered the salsiccia & friarelli pizza and the pasta alla norma. I'm so glad that I last minute decided to order the pizza as it was, by far, the best part of the meal. Super tasty and seasoned well and you'll have more than enough to take home for a second meal. Regarding the pasta, to be honest, I kinda regret ordering it at all. It wasn't bad but was a little cold when it came out; it tasted like a reheated pasta of something you could make at home. I had the chance to visit bar Camillo on a weekend night to grab drinks with a friend. The bar itself is large with tons of seating. They also have a back area that also has more seating as well. When we arrived we were allowed to sit at two open high chairs at the bar. The bartenders here were super friendly and made each drink we ordered skillfully. Very friendly and attentive staff and great Italian style pizza. We had the capricciosa and margherita, both were very tasty though margherita sauce could have had a little bit more flavor. Very reasonably priced priced cocktails ($10) and wine (ozs, carfes and bottles available). Theres plenty of hand sanitizer available and social distancing on the patio. I live on the same block. I have a 2min walk to Bar Camillo. I'm so glad that the neighborhood is growing and I wish I could be supportive but unfortunately Bar Camillo served the worst Italian food I had ever had in NYC. Ther service was very slow but the food was so bad, it was unbelievable. Other than the bread that was OK only and the Negroni, the Lasagna was terrible and the pizza too. It's so sad, and then again possibly a better chef or better restaurant manegement might be able to help... The space is kind of nice. read more

What a great spot. The food here is 'Roman' and the dishes are small plates, pizza, and a few pasta dishes. The pizza is called 'pinsa' which is Roman style pizza. Don't believe what I'm writing...go to the website and read what they say! They have three beers on tap and all were local. They also have 10-ish beers in cans/bottles, 8-ish red wines, and 8-ish whites by the bottle plus 6-8 wines on tap. Wines are mostly italian and reasonably priced. The pinsas are great. We had the anchovie/olive/caper which was a little salty (as we expected...look at the ingredients!) but delicious. We also had the sausage/broccoli rabe which was also great. Roasted cauliflower, artichokes, and bread w/ anchovies on the antipasti list were all super tasty. And, the service was fantastic: Personable. Friendly. Attentive. Bar Camillo is a great neighborhood spot -- anyone I've ever taken here is quickly a fan. The meatballs are a solid starter (never dry!), and the pizzas are consistently delicious. There usually is only a single server though, and though they are always wonderful, it's clear that the restaurant requires more than just a single person on their waitstaff. My new favorite spot in Bedstuy! They have the most charming backyard area for outdoor dining that feels a bit like, well, Rome. But we're here to talk about their pizza, or should I say pinsa (Roman style pizza), which is to die for! Dare I say it rivals Saraghina. The Diavolo is my favorite but they are all mouthwateringly delicious. Don't neglect the small plates either, the meatballs are *chefs kiss*! The drinks are just as much a feature of this place as their pinsas: they specialize in Negronis ($10 each), with an extensive list of Negroni variations all of which I'm curious to try, but they also have an excellent beer and wine selection with lots of natural wines, oranges and lambruscos in the mix. You know, the good stuff! Basically this place is insanely good, incredibly charming and a great place to support during AND after the pandemic. First off, let me say that hands down indoor dining is likely better at this place in both locations but the food makes the noise outside at both locations tolerable. Can't recommend this place enough. Ate here with my partner on a Friday night. Beautiful interior and bar area! We sat in the gorgeous backyard, underneath a huge umbrella. We had such a great time that we barely noticed the rain. The food was fantastic!! We ordered the focaccia and mozzarella de bufala. Shared the diavola pinsa. I started out with a glass of wine, but ordered the plum Negroni after realizing it was the signature cocktail. I'm not usually one for Negronis, but it was so good I was kicking myself for not starting out with it! We'll be back to try all of these pinsas and Negronis!! My husband and I moved to Bed-Stuy about 10 years ago. We love our home, community and neighborhood. Our go-to place for special occasions such as birthday celebrations s as well as hosting friends from overseas has always been a soul food restaurant about six blocks away. Sofia (10 years old) and Michael (8 years old) will enjoy mac n cheese and fries for sure. For every visit, we have to be prepared to wait to be seated, wait to be served and hurry on for the next patron to have a place to sit after we are done. It was that popular. Today, we discovered that we have a new go-to place that rivals the soul food venue. Our neighbor recommended us and we were eager to check it out since it is just two mins away. Specially after we learn that it's well known for its pizzas (Roman pinsas)! We are so thrilled! It's Bar Camillo. Thank you Dante and his team for the amazing service and spread of delicious, exquisite food that pleased, teased and won us over with every bite (and sip!). The experience was nothing short of delightful and enchanting. We sat at the backyard, at least 6 feet away from the other 4 tables. There was a couple, a group of three friends and two families with babies propped on highchairs and/or strapped cozily to moms' chests. Family-friendly and casual atmosphere yet chic as well as sophisticated altogether. The menu is very exciting and pleasing. Lucky for me, I LOVE eggplant, basil, plum brandy and all European cheeses (guyere, percorino, mozzarella, fortina). My hubby obviously enjoyed his beer, cocktail and all things 'Roman' after another intense week of work. It was great to see him so relaxed. We agreed to all of Dante's recommendations. This restaurant makes me wished I lived in Bed Stuy just so I could have a reliable Italian spot with $10 negronis and reliable food! The pizza isn't my favorite, but it's sturdy and obviously they put some care into their toppings. Highlights for me were the negroni and lasagna. I always order the meatballs when I go to a restaurant like this and I'd say you can skip them.
