Think charcuterie, but with an Italian flare. Their eggplant fritters is solid. The pastas are good, but not my favorite in town. My friend and I grabbed some dinner to go from here on a Wednesday night. We did their delivery & carryout special which is two pizzas for $25. I would say that's a pretty good deal! I ended up calling to order over the phone, because I couldn't figure out how to use a gift card to order on their website. It was a pretty simple process for pickup, as you just pull into one of the designated parking spots and then text them that you are there. Someone was out with the food in just a couple of minutes. As for the two pizzas, we ordered the speck and the roasted squash. I think that the consensus was that the roasted squash was more to our liking than the speck, which could partially be because we already had potato soup multiple times during the week. In addition to the meat the speck pizza has, roasted mushrooms, fingerling potatoes, mozzarella, and rosemary. Overall decent pizza, but a little more greasy than I would have thought. In addition to the roasted squash, this pizza had n'duja, mozzarella, ricotta, pepitas, and sage. There was a great flavor to this pizza, but it was also a little greasier than I would have liked. There were large gobs of ricotta spread throughout and the pepitas added a nice crunch to the pizza. The crust of both was quite nice with a crisp bottom and soft interior. That being said, it didn't necessarily hold up to the amount of toppings on it. Overall pretty good. I definitely want to go back to try out some of their pastas, appetizers, and desserts! read more

I am SO impressed. I think this may be my new favorite restaurant in Madison! First of all the ambiance of this place is amazing. It feels like you're in another country. To drinkI had a red draft wine, Gazerra that the bartender recommended and it was so delicious. It was chilled and the perfect summer sipping wine! To start my friends and I shared the antipasti board which was amazing. There was plenty for 3 people and we purchased additional slices of bread because there's just that many toppings. I had the 8 finger cavatelli which was so fresh and flavorful. The noodles were thick but tender and cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the bolognese which was AMAZING. The dollop of ricotta cheese on top made my Wisconsin heart so happy. I will for sure be back. Make sure you make a reservation! They fill up very quickly!! read more

5/5 restaurant in literally every aspect!! the vibes were perfect inside, such a cute bar area and the service was top tier. our waitress was very nice and offered excellent recommendations, as well as came back frequently to check on us. we did have a reservation so not super sure how long the wait would've been without one so i'd recommend making one if possible. for food, we ordered the burrata to share, which was just phenomenal. the cheese and sauce came together perfectly on the baguette toast pieces. we also got the oriechette and the 8 finger cavatelli. i did enjoy both dishes, but perhaps the 8 finger cavatelli more. the oriechette had a tangy taste to it, but i couldn't pinpoint exactly which ingredient that was from. it was good but i'm not sure i'd order it again. for drinks, we got the aeperol spritz and an elderflower infused liquor which i can't remember the name of. the waitress helped me pick out a drink and it was a great recommendation! overall would def come back to try some of their other dishes (the burrata pizza sounded interesting) read more

The food was really good! We did not have a reservation, so we had to wait about 45 minutes for a seat at the bar. (Which is exactly what the hostess predicted.) I like that they take reservations for the tables and use a waitlist for walk ins to be seated at the bar. We actually really liked sitting at the bar! The bartenders were friendly, attentive and made excellent drinks! Beware though, they keep the lights really low so be sure to bring your reading glasses! lol read more

I hate writing this review because I had such high hopes. It has been on my list to try for so long. We made a reservation for a Tuesday night and I'm so glad we did because it was so busy at 6pm. It only seemed to get busier, even after the happy hour ended at 6 - all great signs going in. Other great things included the cocktail, beer/wine, spirits, etc list - so much to choose from making it easy for my fiancé and I to choose a drink. We were sat at our table on time, and were offered a large booth for just the two of us. The food is what really disappointed and let us down... the whipped ricotta appetizer on ciabatta was tasty, but our pastas were very subpar from what we expected. The shrimp cavatelli smelled SO unbelievably fishy, almost as if the shrimp were old. The lack of freshness really showed in this dish. We did appreciate the texture and perfect doneness of the noodles though. Our second dish, mezze maniche genovese, was unbelievably bland for a dish that's base is carmelized onions... I hate to say it almost tasted like the sauce was just carmelized onions tossed in milk, barely seasoned, with a little pork added. The noodles in this dish were also nothing special. We ended up only eating about 1/3 of each of our pastas before deciding to get the check... If I went back, I'd try to the pizza and simpler pasta dishes. After being told time and time again that we needed to try Bar Corallini, we left so upset and thankful a gift card was used for the meal. Giving a 3 star instead of 2 because the service was great, and the overall restaurant was clean and had great ambiance. read more

Bar Corallini is one of my favorite spots! Over the summer the service was a bit slow, but as time passed these woes were resolved. The antipasti board is a highlight of the meal! Our group of six ate here recently. The ambiance we good. Very lively. Lots of diners. Our server was attentive. In general everyone at our table enjoyed the food. It was a bit pricey and a couple of the portions seemed small but everyone was full at the end. My only complaint was the pizza. I had the pepperoni and pickled pepper. The toppings were delicious but the crust was absolutely flaccid. I've been told before that flaccid crusts are authentic, but I'm not a fan. Have been here a few times and took my family there for graduation dinner! The inside is beautiful and the staff is always so kind. Our waitress was super knowledgeable about wine and bourbon and brought up a special supply from the basement for us to try, and she was very accommodating to our larger party that included some first time guests:) there was a set menu that weekend that included four courses, all of which were wonderful! Friday date night this week was a new one for us. We have been to Cento, Osteria Papavero and Naples 15 to name a few... Naples 15 being my least favorite. Bar Carolina exceeds in customer service, food quality and reasonable prices. Ambience was good, not noisy. The eggplant fritter was just the amount of eggplant and flour for that juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Our Shrimp 8 dish had the shrimp just perfectly cooked with the freshness bursting through with flavor. A lot of restaurants try to save money by using old shrimp. Our pizza with their own homemade crust and pesto base was good welcome from tomato based pizzas. Finally you have to treat yourself to the sorbetto with hot espresso. I really enjoy this place! I think sometimes the entrees are hit or miss, tonight I had the mushroom risotto which was DIVINE but some of the other folks who ordered pasta in my party thought it was pretty mid. The space is lovely though. Also you CANNOT skip the antipasti board because I dream about it when I haven't been in awhile. This is hands down my absolute favorite place to get pasta in Madison. They make their pasta fresh everyday and I've never had a bad meal here. The decor in the restaurant is also so cute, bright, and beautiful. If you love spritz and Negronis like I do it's also a great place for a sip. What a great spot! My fiancée and I just had a date night here and it was an 11/10 experience. The vibe inside was modern and elevated but also laid back and friendly. Our server (Liz) was very friendly and helpful and most importantly the food was EXCELLENT. This is our new favorite spot in Madison for Italian food. Glad we finally tried this spot. Service rating 5: our waitress was very kind and attentive. Food came out very quickly Food rating 4: The eggplant appetizer is nice and original. It kind of reminded me of a fun spin on falafel but softer and with more flavor. The rigatoni was good but noodles were a little undercooked which led to them to being too tough. I don't blame the chef for this as the pasta is fresh so it can't be perfect every time. The 8 finger dish had a wonderful sauce. I wish I could have taken the sauce and paired it with another pasta type. Overall food was good, but due to lifestyle creep I am unable to give it 5 stars. Drinks rating 2: drinks were unique but slightly missed the mark with the flavors. My husband had the special which had a unique after taste and I had by the seaside which was a little too close to a vitamin flavor for me. Ambiance rating 2: We had never been here so we reserved an outside table. I would encourage you to book an indoor table. The restaurant is next to a bar and the folks at the bar were very loud, which is ok as that would be what I would expect and this is not the restaurants fault. Great addition to the Italian food scene in Madison. I made sure to eat here at least twice before leaving a review and it was consistently amazing each time. Love how you can see the pasta dough noodles being made from the window. Fresh made pasta and fresh pizza. Quality ingredients and prepared delicately. The pizza dough was what set it apart from other thin pizzas I've had here in Madison. Not sure what it was, but the crust had the thin, fluffy consistency while being charred the perfect amount from being baked at super high temps. Every topping had a fresh taste and they blended well together. It was perfect! Tried almost all of the pizzas - can't choose which one is the best. They're all great. Had two pastas - tagliatelle alla bolognese and pappardelle. The tagliatelle was good but the sauce was a little too thick and creamy. The pappardelle was delicious - fresh. Incredible First off, the building is gorgeous inside. Mood lighting, hip decor, deceptively spacious...even the tile in the bathroom was amazing. I sort of want to live here? We made a reservation for a Thursday dinner after (unsuccessfully) attempting to just waltz in a week earlier. Definitely recommend reservations, as we were informed the wait was 1.5-2 hrs on a Wed. The cocktail list has something for everyone, but I was intrigued that they have negronis on draft. Never had a draft negroni but it was great! a little sweet with that slightly bitter finish. We also enjoyed one that had honey in the name (?) idk it was a gin drink with like lemon and elderflower so I was allllllll over that. They had a little fall specials menu, which we ordered the burrata app from, and it was incredible. I have never had an emotional reaction to eating zucchini, but it was best I had ever had, and paired with the creamy burrata and grilled toast it was perfect and I danced in my seat. For mains we split the pepperoni and pickled jalapeño pizza and the gnocchi. Crust had a good char and the pepperoni was huge and well spiced. This is a very excellent place to get Italian food that is beyond the expected dishes. I had Orecchiette which is little ear shaped pasta in roasted squash sauce with smoked pancetta for meat, kale, shallots, a hard Italian cheese Pecorino Romano, toasted pepitas and calabrean chili. My husband had a tomato based Malloreddus with Italian sausage and a strong olive flavor. That also was very good, but a bit salty due to the olives. As the newest food fight restaurant, it took me longer than I would have liked to make it to Bar Corallini for a meal, but I knew I would fall in love with it and that I did! The ambience is spectacular. The space is so well utilized, decorated and lit. You will find yourself forgetting that you are in Madison, WI! It's the perfect spot for Madison foodies. We went with a group of 8 and everyone greatly enjoyed their meal, although I can only speak for the deliciousness of the eggplant fritters and pepperoni with pickled pepper pizza. I would order both again, they were so tasty! The drinks were also great. They offer pages of cocktails, wine, etc. You cannot go wrong! Go for the food. It was quite good especially the pappardelle. The eggplant pizza was nice although it would have been nicer to have more veg and less chewy cheese. The gnocchi was not normal- it was cubes... had the look of polenta or tofu but it was quite tasty. Our least favorite of the dishes ordered was the shrimp pasta. If you think this is a nice quiet joint because of fond memories of the old Chocolaterian atmosphere, heads up that this place is LOUD. I'm glad we were with great friends, it could have been awkward. A couple of disappointing details. Our $7 Belgian beer was poured so it had a 6-inch foam head. I would have rather poured it myself. When our appetizer plates were collected, our forks and knives, which had sauce on them, were taken off the app plates and put back on the table to reuse ... kind of unappetizing. Offering a new we a dinner fork would have been appreciated or just leave it on the plate and don't collect them? So the place is new, maybe these oddities will get sorted out. Gorgeous decor, great location, excellent staff, and phenomenal food. The pricing is a little bit higher than neighboring businesses, but it is well worth it. Everything I've tried here is OnPoint. I've had everything from a fingerling potato salad with octopus to scallops on linguine special, to one of their housemaid pizzas. What is perhaps even the crown jewel at this place though is the Negroni's. They have them on tap! They are so delicious and the staff know a lot about what they are serving. We stopped by Bar Coralini for dessert and wine after dinner. We check in with the host and then two bar stool opens up. We go to sit and the two bartenders say "woah woah woah did the host give you permission?!". We all look to the host who sort of shrugs his shoulders. There were no signs that said the bar was reserved seating so it felt really unwelcoming. 10 minutes later the bar was pretty empty. So glad we got snapped at to save unneeded bar room. The pizza is wonderful! ... light, bubbly, wood fired with nice amount of toppings. We ordered the Speck and would get it again. Lastly, we ordered kale salads to share. We asked for extra dressing and it was perfect with the pizza. The muffuletta was also excellent, made with good bread made in house with all the essential and authentic ingredients. The place was much larger than I realized. I like how there is a little separation between the bar and seating area. The ambiance is cozy and comfortable. We landed at a table near the kitchen and oh the smells! Made me want to try everything. Our waitress was amazing and so helpful in explaining cocktails and the dishes as well as making recommendations. I love that flat or bubbly for the table. We had a carafe of each. The cocktails are delish and the food is mouthwatering. The restaurant is gluten friendly; however, it's worth noting that the crust is a frozen crust. I was with a. Friend who is not eating gluten so we tried the gluten free option. I wish it had been more firm. Our friends ordered a regular pizza and loved it. They also got the eggplant fritters.
