Bar Julian is a fun bar at The Thompson Savannah. I really enjoyed the Classic City Draft beer. (I think that was the name) It was real fresh and happy. The male bartender was excellent. The female one was very unhelpful when I asked for some ice dduring the day. She wouldn't give me any. Meh I wanted to try their burger, but ran out of days. The whole bar area had a really nice vibe. They had a singer a couple nights. She was great. The whole area is very cozy. I would say stop by here even if you are not staying at The Thompson. It is probably one of the most fun places to be in the area. read more

It's worth the visit for the view, the craft cocktails and Mediterranean style snacks on any day but especially now as it's decorated for Christmas and featuring a themed menu. If there's an event happening or maybe just a busy Saturday night, recommend making a reservation but it's very much worth the wait as well. Beautiful inside with a gorgeous view of the city. I was really impressed with this rooftop bar and restaurant. Great and friendly service and hostess as well as wonderful food and a stunning view. We sat at the bar one day and another at a table in the bar area and you have panoramic views of the water and city from here. On a sunny day you can see for miles and miles. They have outdoor seats when it's nice and large garage doors they can throw open so I'm sure in summer this is a great place to be. We had breakfast two days in a row here and both days were excellent service and delicious food. We also stopped in to browse for a light snack and their lunch menu looks wonderful as well. It's a Mediterranean-inspired menu with lots of pita, naan, fresh breads and yummies. My husband had the Shakshuka the first day with their fresh pita bread and the breakfast pizza the following day. Both days, absolutely delicious. His breakfast pizza was phenomenal in taste - I liked it as well. I chose the eggs Benedict the first day which isn't like the traditional style - it's a bread boat (huge) with eggs and greens and cheese inside. No meat. It's a giant portion and I probably wouldn't order it again. The second day I ordered the yogurt and granola with a side of fruit and the warm pita bread - it's warm, fresh, soft and doughy and thick. It reminded me of the some of the bread I had in Egypt. SO delicious with some butter and jam! The yogurt parfait is a super small portion - the small side of fruit for $4 is well worth it - lots of grapes, pineapple, apple, melon, blueberries and strawberries. A great selection and generous size. I'd happily eat here again and again and would come back for lunch as well. If I'm in town again, even if not staying at this hotel, I'll search this out for a meal! read more

This is one of the best Rooftop Bars in Savannah to go see an eye memorizing sunset . The picture soeaks for itself. However seating is extremely limited so if you can make a rsvp. Bar Julian is a rooftop bar with impeccable views of the city of Savannah and the river. It is a bit away from all the local shops but a quick off down the river. It was well decorated for the holidays with "Frosty's" pop up Christmas bar. Drinks were a bit pricey but again the view was breathtaking. Unfortunately, I couldn't provide a more acceptable rating. We snagged a table outside but it seemed to take a while it to get cleaned. I ended up grabbing menus from another empty table inside so when our server arrived we were ready to order. Sydney, our server, really tried her best but think she was a bit overwhelmed. In total we ordered 1 holiday drink, 2 beers and an espresso martini. The espresso martini was delicious and one of the best ones I have had, but it cost nearly $20. There was a party near us who ordered multiple drinks as well and they similarly waited a while for their table to get cleaned, get menus and drinks. I love rooftop bars and this one has the added benefit of having amazing food, cocktails, and mocktails. When you are here, you have to order the bread platter. It is the best bread I have ever had. It is dangerously good. I'm staying downstairs in the hotel and in a period of less than 24 hours, I have ordered three bread platters. It's that good! Another great thing is they have baskets of blankets you can use when you are sitting outside and it gets too chilly. Came on a Sunday night and sat at a high top table close to the bar. The rooftop has beautiful views and they boast that they are the tallest rooftop in Savannah. The Mezze platter was good here, pizza was ok. They do have a good variety of cocktails and a few mocktails on their menu. Very modern and new inside. read more

While visiting a nearby speakeasy, we asked the bartender where he liked to go as a local. This was his first and only choice. Bar Julian is a rooftop bar with an amazing view of the city lights, and on a temperate December night it was the perfect choice. Our server was admittedly new but very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great for couples or small groups of friends. The menu is pretty limited but the drinks and food are moderately priced for a night out in Savannah, and I could definitely see this place as a date night destination. Aside from a wide selection of boozy indulgences, Bar Julian also slings up quite a few tasty treats and although most are noted as sharable, they aren't exactly small bites and we 100% over ordered. We got a Georgian Cheese Bread (w/ egg because why not?) potato wedges, feta dip and nachos. Way too delicious and way too much; we had lunch for two days. Worth it. My fiancé and me were looking for a Mediterranean food for a responsible price and a bunch of fellow Yelp Elites spoke highlights of this dinner spot. I enjoyed the Mushroom pizza and the chocolate sundae the most and the chicken kabob was the best maybe just the style of how it was cooked just wasn't my favorite. My fiancé enjoyed all three food items but agreed the chicken kabob was okay. The service was a bit slow which felt enough more slower with our waitress coming across as if she was just doing the bare minimum and was taking she time. The vibe of the dinner spot was great and people were having a good time with the outside tables overlooking Savanah being filled up which took away from our experience since the temperature was just right to dinner outside. Great drinks, views, and service! I came here with some friends. Although I'm local, this was the first time on the east side of the city! The Bar is on the rooftop. It has great views of the city and from a different angle compared to the other Savannah area rooftop bars. I came by at 8:30 pm on a Saturday. There was a host stand but no host, so seat yourself. We sat at the bar because the outdoor seating was full. Inside the music is loud but upbeat. A mix of current pop and contemporary remixes. Their menu has a wide selection of cocktails, wines, and spirits. I saw my Bourbon of choice, Michter's. I had that in an Old Fashioned and in their Summer 09. Taylor was nice enough to give me a taste of the Summer 09 typical whiskey, and it was not for me! However, with Michter's, it was on point. It has a nice blend of Summer citrus with Fall spices, and looks almost like a reverse Tequila Sunrise of you lightly swirl it. It is definitely my go-to drink here now! We stopped by this rooftop restaurant for breakfast during our one-night visit. We weren't used to the layback style in the South and thought we could finish breakfast and then go back to take a nap before hitting the road. However, it took us at least 2 hours to finish. This is a must go. It's a Savannah show stopper! Perched above the eastern wharf, you can sit outside and watch the sunset over the river and city. They offer a happy hour at sunset and the red wine is quite tasty. The food is really good. I highly recommend the pizza or a sandwich. The dough is scrumptious. Everything comes out temperature perfect and nicely plated. The staff are also warm and inviting to round-out the experience. The prices are competitive and not hotel double charged. We decided to come here for delicious drinks and a beautiful view and we got both! We were seated quickly as we came off the elevator and were seated outside to enjoy the view. The view is just beautiful and calming. I also really like the decor! The seating outside is nice. The chairs are comfortable and the tables are sturdy. They also have fans that spray misty water which is nice for those hot days! The waitress and hostess were both kind and friendly. The Negroni was delicious! Terribly disappointing experience. We made reservations to sit inside a couple weeks before. We showed up a few minutes early and when we checked in we were told we would have to sit outside even though we made reservations. (It was 45degrees F today outside). When we told the hostess our reservations were for inside she told us we would have to wait 45 minutes to get a table. We left, went to another restaurant, were seated and served before we ever received a message from Bar Julian about our table. We will never be back, we will never give them our business and we will fervently inform everyone we know about how terrible the service, planning, and execution of this restaurant was. F for effort. Overpriced, pretentious, and patronizing. PS. We went to the COMMON on Broughton and it was AMAZING. We were seated right away, the service was fast, friendly and fantastic. The prices were good ($12 for bottomless mimosas!) and the menu was absolutely mouth watering! They even had a delectable seasonal menu with some incredible specials. We'll definitely be back there again and again. After the seating fiasco at Bar Julian, with their complete lack of interest in making the situation better and reluctance to rectify it in any way, we've marked it on our DO NOT GO list. Since it was attached to our hotel we made three trips here. Every person working was great! We loved the food. Two trips in were for brunch and one trip was just for the bread! This is the best kept secret with the best roof top views in Savannah. The hotel is beautiful as we walk through.(haven't been a guest yet ) Very upscale and trendy in appearance. Great cocktails. Awesome view and great food! I went to bar Julian for a salsa night and it was awesome! After dancing the night away I slipped up to the rooftop bar for some late night eats and drinks! The bartender made me a pretty good spicy margarita. I do think the drinks are a bit pricey but it's likely do to the small extra touches such as a flower frozen into the ice cubes. I had the mussels and it comes with so many! Their house made chili oil was also great! I will definitely come back soon to enjoy another drink and hopefully some of the pizza at Bar Julian. read more

I love this place. The view is outstanding, and the food is the best I had in Savannah on our most recent trip. Get the pide. Just do it! They had obviously taken some call ins and one manager, and one server were doing all the work. We were missing flatware, sugar bowl, etc. and requests for items were just forgotten most likely since they never materialized. All was forgiven with that view and the FOOD. (seriously the pide). It was the perfect spot to catch the sunset if you get outdoor seating. I have been here a few times now and the food still amazes me. It is legit Mediterranean food, the falafel is so delicious. I always get the platter, extra falafel. i absolutely love the chicken kebab, the chicken melts in your mouth and the rice is really good too. The drinks are good too. I've been there different times of the day, but each time, the staff is friendly and routinely check up on you to see if you need anything. I've sat inside and outside too. Both were nice. There are two outside seating areas, one is usually out in the sun so that isn't always comfortable in the summer but the one in the back is nice and the sun isn't over you so it is cooler. read more
