Kari's Rating 8.5/10 TLDR: -They're famous burger comes with American cheese already -Mostly high top seating -Instagrammable Place Came in with a friend around 6:30 on Friday night and the place was just starting to get packed. While I waited for my friend, I joked with the manager, and he had a very good sense of humor and put me immediately at ease. Once my friend got here, we were escorted to a high top table next to the bar. I couldn't stop looking at the beautiful faux flower decor along the ceiling and by the bar. We ordered the Sauvignon Blanc that was poured into our stemless glasses. The waitress suggested the lobster roll as well as their famous "The Royal Burger," where the burger came on top of a large plate of Gruyère cheese fondue. Both the lobster roll and the burger came with fries or coleslaw. We decided to split the difference and get a little bit of each. The fries weren't super crispy, but they were overall okay-but realistically more of like a filler so there were definitely fries left when we got up to go. I personally didn't think they were worth heating back up as they were so thin you wouldn't have anything to heat up. The burger was absolutely delicious, but I personally didn't think they needed to add American cheese on the burger as well as it was plenty cheesy. The burgers were juicy and cooked to perfection on top of their crispy buttery brioche bun. I really like the pickle being sliced thinly because you just got enough of it without it being soggy. The lobster roll was as fantastic as the waitress was hyping up. The juicy piece of lobster her complemented, the perfect ratio of mayo on a beautifully buttered piece of roll. It was also the perfect portion size. My only critique was that when we got it to our table, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be served hot or cold as it was kind of room temperature. The lobster roll also came with a side of coleslaw, which I was confused about because it looked more like a salad as it didn't have a very heavy mayo dressing and actually tasted more like a spring citrus salad very lightly doused with lemon. I wasn't mad about it because I don't like very mayo heavy coleslaw's-but I also didn't realize this was the coleslaw as I thought it was a side salad. Overall, it was in a very hip and popping place and I probably would come back with friends. I do wish the waitress had introduced herself with her name and the individual bussing our tables had name tags on-I personally think it makes the meal a little more intimate. Overall, I left full and happy. The price was perfect for what we ate and drank. I thought it was a nice place in West Loop and I look forward to coming back!
Great lunch here recently! They have a lunch combo that gives you the option of a starter (salad, soup) and an entree (salmon, burger, chicken sandwich). That's what we chose, and it was so good! Caesar salad was solid, but the French onion soup was amazing! Salmon was delicious, placed on creamed potatoes. The burger was really good too. Cool decor and a friendly vibe. Service was spot on.
Went here today for girls brunch about 7 of us. The inside is picturesque and inviting. Food took a long time to come out but when it did come out it was well made and delicious. I ordered the steak frites- the steak was so good and fries were addicting! The rest of the girls really like their food and drinks. I ordered a mocktail and it so good! Our issue: we were told when we are ready to pay we can scan the QR code at the table. We scan the code then we notice they already added a 18% gratuity per check and on top of that at 3.5% surcharge. We barely saw our waitress, we saw the busboy way more (refilling our drinks, clearing the table etc). What the heck is a surcharge for? Service was mediocre and we know why. She already knew she was getting paid anyhow so why bother trying. I really hope the busboy gets most of that tip, he deserves it. This is why I'm giving the low review. I feel like we were being deceived. I would of preferred being told about the involuntary gratuity and additional surcharge. I'm always happy to tip on my own terms especially when it's deserved. And the surcharge is b.s
Bar La Rue -- Worth the Return Trip What started as a frustrating 25-minute wait with zero service could have derailed the entire evening. It didn't, and that's largely thanks to Christina, who stepped in and made sure the rest of the night was everything it should have been. The Vibe- Walking in, the decor immediately sets a mood -- light, airy, and reminiscent of a fresh summer afternoon. Fans of New York-style dining will feel right at home. Better yet, the layout gives you options: al fresco, patio, bar, or the quaint indoor dining area. Whatever your preference, there's a seat for it. The Food- Start with the chicken wings...full stop. Crispy, flavorful, and carrying just the right amount of heat (we're talking very mild, not a challenge), they were the highlight of the meal. We ordered three during happy hour and had zero regrets. The lobster roll made an equally strong impression. A member of our group enjoyed the happy hour version so much that she upgraded to the full entrée. That says plenty. The chicken sandwich looked the part and, notably, drew zero complaints from the other half of our table which, in my experience, is as close to a glowing endorsement as it gets. On the flip side, the French dip happy hour bites missed the mark entirely. Dry, chewy, and flat on flavor. Skip them. The NY Strip was my personal misstep. Cooked to a correct medium, but under-seasoned and tougher than it should have been at that price point. My instinct says it was a select-grade cut, and no sauce is going to fix that. I'd steer clear. The Drinks- The classic old fashioned had good flavor but skewed a little sweet, and the crushed ice left something to be desired. An old fashioned deserves a proper large cube. That said, the happy hour pricing softens the critique considerably. The group also enjoyed the cosmopolitan and the martini! The Verdict- Bar La Rue is worth coming back to, especially now knowing what to order and what to leave alone. The highs are genuinely high, and with a little navigation, it's a solid evening out.
They have a great happy hour but the service can sometimes be a bit slow. The oysters are always fresh and I love the mini lobster roll!
We came here for an early Sunday brunch. The place wasn't full yet but pretty much got full by the time we finished our meal. I started off with a Bloody Mary. I usually don't order alcoholic beverages for breakfast/brunch. I have to be in the mood for it and when I looked at the menu, their Bloody Mary sounded pretty good. It was supposed to come with candied bacon lardon and a Gruyère skewer but what I ended up getting was a plain ol Bloody Mary with an olive and a lemon & lime skewer. I immediately noticed it and had to back to some previous pictures. I then asked our server about the missing cheese and bacon and she apologized and said they had run out. I did send it back but did kind of ruin the rest of our day. My wife ordered their breakfast sandwich and I ordered their Royal with Cheese Provence style. Pretty much their double smash burger with American cheese, dijonaise and the cut in half with bit cut side ends facing down on their Gruyère cheese fondue. Definitely a lot of cheese but it's really delicious. The burger itself was really good but I would argue that it's an actual smash burger as the patties didn't look smashed and they were both perfectly the same size. Still a good burger though and I can see myself returning for it again.
Very cute ambiance. Ordered the chicken caesar salad wrap and it was delicious. The fries came with a very tasty aioli as well.
Visited over the weekend for lunch and can confidently say this place makes a damn good burger. We ordered the Royale with Cheese (regular) and the Provence Style, and both were phenomenal. If you're a big fan of Gruyère and don't mind a more cheese-forward burger, go with the Provence Style. Otherwise, my vote would be for the regular version. The espresso martini was excellent, and the ambiance was super cute and very camera-friendly. The bar area was absolutely gorgeous and made the whole space feel elevated and inviting.
What a cute vibe. The aesthetics were in point. The service was really good and the drinks matched. Unfortunately, I did not order any food this time around but I'd definitely be back to try the food.
Moms night out/girls night/Galentine this is that spot Aesthetically pleasing but quite loud and we couldn't hear one another. We came for restaurant week but ended up just ordering off the regular menu because we felt like the cost was about the same and the cost to value just didn't make sense $45 for a 2 course meal meh & no dessert included Located in west loop you'll sure have a difficult time looking for parking as we circled around 3x to finally snag a spot but even so we had to walk 3 blocks out from Haymarket Food just alright. Honestly, kinda overly priced but expected due to location. FOOD Tuna Tartare - Just ok, not much of a wow factor. The only wow is that we didn't get to finish an the busser prematurely took away our plate RIP Crispy Chicken Wings - Star of the night tbh but $20 for wings is madness. The glaze on that wing was chef kiss though Steak Frites (5 oz flat iron) - Nothing quite worth mentioned beside it costing $37 and a little flavorless Royale with cheese + Provence Style - Yes, we paid $7 extra for our burger to sit on top of cheese but kinda had to live a little cause it's their speciality. Actually we made use of the cheese and dip our steak in it DESSERT Brûlée French Toast - I wasn't feeling the mushy consistency that came with the French toast Warm Apple Bread Pudding - Was the better dish of the two but also similar in consistency DRINKS Bonne Vivant - I wish I got this! Took a sip of my girlfriend's & it was delish Strawberry Spritz - Too light and just tasted like a punch Overall just an ok experience esp if you wanna splurge. Totally bill $500
I overall had an amazing time dining with La Rue! We were instantly greeted with a friendly smile from the hostess which is a good sign. And quickly brought to the best seats on their indoor patio. The restaurant had a beautiful atmosphere, lighting, and friendly staff. I ordered the cheese fondue with grilled chicken on the side, and it was to die for! The drinks were pricy but I guess it's worth the experience, right?!
1/2 - Great Vibe, Great Service, Perfect Spot for a Celebration We were out celebrating my brother-in-law's 50th birthday. He wasn't really interested in doing anything big, so we surprised him with dinner at Bar La Rue, located at 820 W. Fulton St. right in the heart of Fulton Market. Bar La Rue is a trendy, upscale Italian sports bar with a twist. The interior is filled with greenery, elegant white flowers, and gold-trimmed décor. Most of the seating near the bar is booth-style, and the dining area is elevated, giving you a nice view of Fulton Market through the windows. Our server was excellent--very knowledgeable, extremely accommodating, and checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed. He also did a great job advocating for the restaurant and their partner locations. When I arrived, my sister and brother-in-law were already enjoying the bottomless fries from the happy hour menu. My brother-in-law also ordered the French onion soup, which he loved. My sister had a salad, which she also enjoyed. For entrées, my sister ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and found it delightful. My brother-in-law couldn't resist trying the Royale with Cheese, which is basically two mini burgers skewered together and served in a pool of melted cheese. He thought it was just okay. I ordered the Steak Frites. They offer three different cuts, and I chose the New York strip, priced around $79. It normally comes with fries, but I swapped them for mashed potatoes, which I think was the better call. The only thing missing was a vegetable, which would have rounded out the dish nicely. I ordered it medium-well, but next time I'd probably go with medium or let the chef cook it to their standard temp. Overall, it was good--not incredible--but solid. The star drink of the night was the French Kiss, made with Creyente mezcal, Luxardo Del Santo, lime, mango, and serrano pepper, priced at $16. It was delicious and definitely the table favorite. My sister started with a martini she wasn't impressed with, but once she tried the French Kiss, our waiter quickly made the switch. Since it was my brother-in-law's birthday, they surprised us with streamers and a tasty, chocolatey treat, which was a really nice touch. Overall, we had a great time. If you're looking for an elevated bar experience with good food, strong drinks, and great service, Bar La Rue is a solid choice. I'd definitely recommend it for a date night, and I'll be back to try their brunch. Solid 4.5 out of 5.
Very cute place for a girls brunch or bachelorette party. They have a beautiful floral ceiling on their covered outdoor space. Food portions are on the smaller side for the price but I enjoyed the food. The menu is rather limited but it makes decision making a bit easier. Service seemed a bit spotty once the place started getting packed. Parking situation can also be very tricky with very limited street parking, and the only other option close by is valet parking at Beatrix across the street. read more

Ambiance - decor was amazing, florals all around, intimate, great for dates and small groups, i sat in a table by the window - it was super cold! Service - our main courses came out in a timely manner, tatter Tots were forgotten and took another 20 min, the busboys kept trying to grab/clear our plates every 10 min even when we had food on them Food - we got our steak medium rare and it was still dry, sea bass didn't have much flavor, crispy tater tots were way too salty read more
A gem!!! I love it here and would go here for brunch anytime. Chicago is lucky to have bar la rue. The service is A1, drinks are fab, and the food is elite!!! The place is also soo incredibly cute, it's a dream brunch spot. I genuinely have nothing bad to say about bar La rue! 10/10! read more

Stumbled across this place while looking for a spot to have brunch in Chicago. 1st of all, love the place! So cute and loved the option to either sit outside or partly (or u can completely dine indoors). Love the flower decor as well Service is great! Everyone is so attentive and prompt. Our waiter was fantastic. Now food! I love the lunch for 2, $25 each. I got the French onion soup followed by spicy chicken sandwich and my friend the Caesar salad followed by the cooked salmon on mashed potatoes. We also got a side of half a dozen oysters east and west coast. Oysters were good! The only thing was that the chicken sandwich was just too..I guess saucy for me or maybe it was too salty, either way I really couldn't finish it but I did appreciate the flavor. Just something was too overwhelming (not the spice) and I couldn't put my finger on it. The salmon though was nice and light Highly recommend giving this place a try! Their drinks are so very good. Will be adding to my list of places to come back to when I'm in Chicago again read more
Love this place because I like to watch sports at a bar that gives girlie while I do so and this is that place. I've been there for brunch and drinks after dinner. We ordered the fondue. OMG. Get the fondue! The cheese is flavorful and the veggies add a little bit of healthy. lol. I want to try the bougie chicken nugget. We got all kinds of drinks lemon drop shots by strangers, mimosas, vodka tonics and a drink with chambord in it and procecco. Such a fun spot! Bar staff is always fun and nice! read more
Come here for HH! It's from 4-6 M-F and the deals are pretty solid. $2 oysters, $9 drinks, and $10 bottomless frites! Our server was the sweetest server ever - she was so kind and really let us enjoy the bottomless portion of the fries! Beautiful space and it's definitely lively! Since we went relatively early, we saw the space get more packed. Oysters were not the best oysters, but for $2 a piece I'm not complaining! What a beautiful place to spend your afternoon in Chicago! This is a perfect place to pop in for a couple drinks and bites whenever you're strolling through the city, especially in the spring of summertime. This would've been a five star review, except for the fact that I did feel like the food lacked a little bit of flavor and seasoning however, I'm willing to give it another chance due to the ambience great service and fantastic drinks that I had. read more

Bar La Rue is a cute spot with their flowers on the ceiling but also have TV's if people want a drink and watch a game. Our waiter was very nice and even made sure to give me a birthday dessert! My friends and I enjoyed our meal as it was very delicious! We started off with a dozen east coast oysters ($48), crispy tater tot's ($12), and escargots ($17). The oysters were very good and I felt like they went by quickly, sharing with three people. The crispy taters were very crispy which I appreciate. It was definitely next level in how there wasn't too much plain potato to the crispy part. The escargots were a must try if you get them too often. I wish there was more bread for the butter and oil in the dish. For the entrees, I got the Royale with cheese ($18) and added bacon ($8) and made it Provence style ($5). The add ons were worth it! I thought I ate my burger slowly savoring each taste with the cheese, but my friend was shocked at how fast I finished my meal. The bacon was not just strips of bacon fortunately. It was more of a piece similar to pork belly. The melted cheese Provence style is a must try which is what I came for. My friends all enjoyed their dishes as well so I would say go for getting the Steak Frites 7 oz ($54) and the half roasted chicken ($39). The side order of fries ($8) were some great crispy fries with garlic aioli. Can't complain with that combo. Overall, Bar La Rue is definitely a spot to try. The restaurant is cute and the food is delicious! The staff are all very nice and attentive as well. read more
Pastel tones, vibrant flowers, and opulent furnishings accent the electric interior of Bar La Rue. Effervescent chatter and a well-dressed cosmopolitan crowd breathe further life into an immaculately organized seating area, centered unsurprisingly around a magnificent aquamarine cocktail bar. Tasteful LED displays and a single large TV above the bar displaying a UFC fight are the only reminder that this is -- in fact -- a bar in Chicago and not a Parisian happy hour that has spilled into an otherwise unfettered side street. Service was crisp and efficient, whisking us through the meal but always without rushing. The various cocktails and wines were well-curated. The espresso martini in particular was certainly a crowd-pleaser. For food, the playful acidity of the tuna tartare served as an inspiring introduction to the meal. The steak frites were unfortunately a lackluster follow-up -- the temperature was a touch closer to medium than medium-rare and the flavor was unremarkable. Perhaps the bernaise or the au poivre are more required accoutrements to the steak than the supplements they were presented as. Classic macarons rounded off the night. The satisfaction of the meal and wonder of the atmosphere of Bar La Rue was cast in sharp contrast to the bill presented to the table at the end of the night. Even the base bill, before the veritable cornucopia of fees was piled on, was quite large. The price wasn't entirely a deal-breaker, but it certainly brings pause to an otherwise charming evening. read more
Made reservations for two for lunch myself and my friend celebrating her birthday. We walked in through the wrong entrance, near the pretty cool mirror. We eventually found our way to check in & we were seated away in a booth. The restaurant wasn't too crowded for a Friday lunch. It was restaurant week, and we already had an idea of what we would order. My friend ordered a zero-proof cocktail to start. I had a Diet Coke with lime. Both arrived promptly. We both ordered the Cesar salad and Royal burger with fries. I ordered my butter with the fondue cheese. Our burgers arrived before the fries, so the camera ate first then our growling stomachs until our fries arrived. Since we were celebrating my friend's birthday, they were courteous and presented her with a celebratory dessert. The crème brûlée french toast with gelato. Of course at this point we were pretty stuffed so we split it. The staff at the host stand was courteous enough to take our photos afterwards. They did a great job. Overall we had such a great time I decided to download their app and rewards program. read more
Two of us stopped in on Saturday afternoon while spending time in the West Loop. The aesthetics of this restaurant has caught my eye from the sidewalk over the last few months. It is truly one of the most social media worthy places in the area. I tried three food items: Crispy Tater Tots (10/10) Not your average tater tots at all. One order comes with 4 large sticks and the flavor leaves an impression. I highly suggest ordering these. Pan Seared Sea Bass (7/10) The flavor profile was good, but not super memorable. It wouldn't be a repeat order for me, but also not a bad option if you are craving fish. Tuna Tartare (9/10) The tuna tasted fresh and this was a good light appetizer I didn't personally try the royale with cheese, but my dining partner enjoyed it and said it was really good. While you can have a whole meal here, it really sticks out to me as being a fun place for apps and drinks. read more
Such a beautiful space - floral decor everywhere, with a patio and big open windows that give the whole place an airy, semi-outdoor vibe. The inside is beautiful! The decorations make you feel transported. It's a perfect place for a girls happy hour/brunch. We were very happy with the happy hour deals. We split a bottle of bubbles that was only $36 and got some $2 oysters. The person I was with is allergic to other types of seafood but their seafood tower seems like it's a steal during the HH deal. They had very nice crispy frites that were great to munch on. Our server was friendly and helpful with decisions. I would come back here for HH! read more
We don't live in Chicago but when we visit which is often we always check out a Prime and Provisions restaurant, they are the best! Bar La Rue did not disappoint... the ambience and really beautiful floral and French decor had me at hello! The food and drinks were top notch. I started with a delicious espresso martini to get the evening going with a jolt! It was great. We shared their version of tater tots which I loved! So unique and tasty. I had the burger provincial style with all that yummy cheesy fondue. Omg so darn good. Absolutely would return. read more
Came here for pre dinner drinks so don't have too much to say about this spot. We sat at the bar in the wonderfully floral dining area, which felt quite lavish with its florals and chandeliers. Bar was open seating and we were lucky enough to snag the last 2 spots, though it did clear up in the 20ish minutes we were there. I ordered an espresso martini and my boyfriend the bold fashioned. Loved my tini as I had been craving one for days at this point. He didn't love his drink as it was pretty smoky (didn't say it was on the menu, but they did smoke it at the bar in front of us). Bartenders were nice and immediately offered up a sample of a wine we inquired about. Drinks came up quick and so did they check when we asked. read more
Really enjoyed our brunch here. I had coffee, the ambiance is great. They had tvs so the boys could watch the bears game. We had the French toast to share which was delicious, my husband had the breakfast sandwich which was delicious. I had the Lobster omelette. I liked the omelette it was very tasty but I think I would get the sandwich next time. It was just very good haha! The star for me was the spicy tater tots! Yum!!! We came for happy hour and sat outside, but unfortunately the weather had us cut our time here short as they didn't have room for us to move inside. We did get to try the fondue, bottomless fries, and rosé. These were great happy hour deals, and the fondue came with a lot of fresh veggies and thick pork belly. Next time I'll have to try other items on the menu and the beautiful interior! read more
I got the bougie chicken nugget. Yes the nugget was higher quality than McDonald's but not sure it's worth the price. It was cool to get one time. The burger was good. Not the best I've ever had but solid. Wish it was hotter when it came out. The service was fine and inside was so cute! The oysters were very fresh along with the fries. We went for happy hour and the prices were a good deal. Definitely want to come back and try their French onion soup. read more

Honestly, I loved this place. It's got the ambiance of an upscale French Restaurant with some great burgers! The Royal with Cheese served over gruyère cheese fondue was awesome. That is the main reason you come here for sure!!! Server was very friendly and the food was great. They had a nice selection of cocktails making it the perfect spot for a night out. read more

Stopped by Bar La Rue for a casual lunch and was pleasantly surprised by this stylish little spot. The decor is absolutely beautiful, modern, cozy, and perfect for a light brunch or grabbing drinks and snacks with friends. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and honestly, it was one of the best I've ever had. Perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and beautifully presented. We also tried a few small bites. The tater tots were incredible (crispy, flavorful, addictive), but the chicken nuggets with caviar didn't quite do it for me. Interesting concept, but not really worth the hype or price. My only critique is that the menu felt pretty limited, so I'd recommend checking it out online before visiting to make sure there's something that catches your eye. All in all, great vibe, top-tier cocktails, and a few standout snacks. I'll definitely be back for the drinks and those tots! read more

Bar La Rue is sooo cutee. It's a great spot to get dressed up and head out with your girls. The ambiance is so chic. Colorful flowers hanging from the ceiling, bottles on display in both the windows and bars. They have a really nice indoor/outdoor shaded patio, as my as a regular outside seating area. Service was great. We scheduled a reservation and were greeted promptly. The waitress was very nice and attentive. I ordered the mussels with some truffle fries. The amount of mussels you get is definitely shareable. The sauce the mussels were cooked in was divinee. My only complaint is some of the mussels (not all) had that weird mussel after taste. It really turns me off to the dish but thankfully there wasn't too many. The truffle friends with the garlic aioli sauce was soo good! Definitely ordering fries no matter what dish I get lol. My friend ordered a salad. She said it was good. To me it looked a little light...but then again I guess that's why you order salad right? lol All in all I would definitely go back and next time I'd try one of there delicious looking cocktails. read more
Really liked it here! I will say I like la serre more but it's a cute spot to hit up with your girls and it's great food! I visited for a happy hour with a group of 3 others. We had been wanting to try this spot for a while The ambiance and decor take center stage. It gives "French café". I give it 8/10. The restaurant looks great in photos, but in person, all the artificial flowers and greenery felt overwhelming to me. Service 7/10. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. However, the bussers were overly intrusive and encroached on our personal space. I understand that the layout of the tables can affect this, but it's easy to communicate when you're heading into someone's personal space. I am more than happy to reposition and accommodate. Drinks 7/10 Just okay. Your basic city cocktail with a fancy name. My whiskey sour was served with a huge skewer. Food 6/10 My favorites were the fries and the salad. The burger was delicious but extremely salty. I could only manage to eat a quarter of it and couldn't imagine eating more. The oysters were disappointing; I only had one out of the three I was allotted due to the number of people present. However, they were nicely cleaned. The steak was good, but we requested medium and most of it was well done, with only 2-3 strips being truly medium. Additionally, most of the steak was lukewarm. I am glad I tried it and checked this place off my list. Would consider trying again during happy hour. read more

I attended a small wedding here yesterday and was thoroughly impressed. The apps were adorable and delicious, the drinks were creative and tasty, and the atmosphere was delightful. The staff was friendly and attentive, and Mira especially was a delight. She went above and beyond to make my friends feel special and cared for on their wedding day. Bar La Rue is a beautiful and darling French restaurant! I very much enjoyed my visit during Chicago Restaurant Week. Their Kale & Endive salad, Pan Seared Sea Bass and Steak Frites were particularly hits in my book. I absolutely loved the crispy skin of the sea bass, crispy fries paired with fragrant garlic aioli. Our server, David, and hostess were both extremely friendly. Thank goodness for David's patience, as it was a cold afternoon and I asked the poor thing to get me at least 3 rounds of hot water. He also gave us 2 sparklers to celebrate my friend's birthday. Thank you! I would definitely return for another round if possible! read more
Delicious spot for brunch and a great place to bring friends visiting from out of town! I do wish they had more of a coffee bar (they have regular coffee, no syrups or additions for an iced latte) for brunch times, but totally understand them wanting to keep it a more streamlined menu. I did get the watermelon juice, which was tangier than expected. Our table tried most of the breakfast menu items, the favorites were the French toast and the breakfast sandwich. Both were medium sized proportions that left has content and not over full. We were there on a Sunday morning and there was a DJ but the atmosphere and music was still chill enough for us to be able to hear each other and converse, which was wonderful. read more

Amazing upscale dinner, with a fantastic happy hour. We went here for an early dinner and the happy hour is fantastic.. $2 oysters and $10 unlimited fries. And I mean unlimited. The wait staff is fantastic and definitely kept the fries coming without us saying anything. We also got the bougie chicken nuggets with caviar which were amazing! As well as the royal burger with the skillet cheese which was very cheesy and everything you want from a smash burger. The atmosphere was beautiful and very romantic. Would 1000% go back! read more
Came here today with a large group for New Years Day brunch and was really impressed. Service was excellent (our sides were slightly delayed but the server took those off the bill without us even asking). The interior is GORGEOUS. And I got the burger in raclette cheese which was the best thing I ate in 48 hours in Chicago (including a Michelin star restaurant). Would come back - fun vibe for a girls brunch/dinner or a date! read more

This review is from the summer when it was approaching 90 degrees during a Saturday morning. I brought a friend from out of town for brunch and we asked the hostess if we could be sat inside. She denied us and said this was due to the reservation already being set. I found this odd since I had never had an issue with such a request, and we literally just had had the best service at Bavettes the day before. Overall , the food was good and our waitress was excellent. However, sitting outside in the heat was not enjoyable at all, and to make matters worse, I noticed a group of women escorted inside after they complained. There was plenty of seating inside at the bar and available tables. I've never experienced such a lack of accommodation before, and have not been back since. I hope they've improved this policy or at least revised it. read more

Absolutely loved this spot for drinks! Very cutesy interior with various seating options. A friends referred to it as a perfect GNO (girls night out) bar, and she was right. The espresso martini was a vibe, and I loved it! Also our server Julian was so sweet, helpful, and attentive! We will definitely be back to try some snacks, next time :) read more
Bar La Rue was such a great spot--cozy, stylish, & just the right amount of lively. The service was amazing, & our waitress knew the menu inside & out, which made ordering so much easier. The tots were next-level crispy & so flavorful. The roasted chicken was juicy af, with the most perfect mashed potatoes underneath soaking up all the goodness. The burger Provençal style? A must. So cheesy, so good. & dessert was unreal--light, chocolatey, & the perfect way to end the meal. Definitely coming back. read more

I came here for Restaurant Week and shared everything with my dining companion. Overall, the food was good but not great. The burger was solid, but not the best I've ever had. The steak frites were a bit of a letdown--not bad, but nothing special. However, the fries were excellent! Unfortunately, the macarons at the end were disappointing. Honestly, the ones from Costco are better. read more
