The lone star lemonade is amazing, just switch the vodka with Malibu for a DELIGHT! The mimosa champagne is always good. I met a new waitress named ASIA and she went above and beyond for us. On yesterday, 4/15th my friend and I decided on Bar Louie, as it was right in the middle and a perfect meeting spot from both of our homes. And of course, we are prepared to indulge in a nice HH as usual. Who doesn't appreciate a good happy hour?! We walked in and we were greeted by the bartender and he informed us that we could seat ourselves. Now the place was very, very empty. We sat and waited and waited and started to look at the menus so that we could decide what we wanted. SN: The menus were filthy and very, very sticky. My friend was like is someone going to help us or what. I stood up and looked over to the bar area and asked the bartender who is going to serve/assist us? He then called someone. Then to the left of our table near the patio area there was a very large group that appeared to be having a meeting. None of them acknowledged us either, BUT everyone stared at us. I was baffled. So then the bartender, who had been very helpful ended up coming by to bring napkins and ask us what we wanted to drink. We had already decided amongst ourselves that we were going to leave. I thanked him and we proceeded to leave the restaurant. With this being a fairly recent place of business to come to the area, I did not appreciate that type of service. This is bad even for Bar Louie which sets a low standard for food and service. It's a Thursday afternoon with less than 30 people here and we sat at the bar. On the upside, the interior and patio are great. If only this was a competently run restaurant. Let's start with walking in the door. This is apparently a sit yourself establishment but you would not know that from the lack of signage. In addition, the employees will not make eye contact with you. Watch first time customers stand awkwardly at the entrance to see for yourself. 1. The ice tea. It is literally jet black, like iced coffee, and tastes old and musty. It's okay to have decent ice tea in Texas. 2. Beer. They have a partial draft beer list in the menu which states you should ask the server regarding rotating and seasonal draft beer. The problem is that the bartender has no idea what is on draft and they do not have a list. You therefore have to get up and walk over to the taps, which the bartender encourages. 3. Food. Less than 30 total customers and it was 52 minutes to get an order of chicken tacos and sliders. The chicken was cold. The taste was below average at best. 4. Bathrooms. The women's bathroom was filthy. You are better off walking next door to the movie theater who has flawless bathrooms. With all of the employees standing around talking with one another or on their phones you would think the bathrooms would be clean 5. Service. Once you receive your drink you will need to ask for another one. We saw this happen to all of the people at the bar. 6. Open containers of condiments. See picture. Disgusting and likely a health code violation 7. Dirty glassware. The dirty bar glassware was left next to the open condiments. At no point in the two hours we were there did anyone remove the glassware Overall this is an embarrassment of a restaurant. read more

We went to hang out here for a little while to get out of the house they were having a end of summer theme it was very cute...Brooklyn was our server and she was absolutely great she was very attentive and very knowledgeable. Was at this spot this past Friday with Friends - I haven't been to Bar Louie in forever, so I forgot about their reverse happy hours - that start at 9pm. The waiter that saw us at 8:30pm confirmed it started at 9, brought us water and said he'd be back for our orders at 9. He did come back at that time, but then told us he made a mistake - Friday isn't included. BUMMER..... but we ordered anyway. The drinks are good - the Lemon Drop is very nice and the roasted veggie flatbread was surprisingly good. The service was good and steady - didn't want for a thing. I'll check the specials online myself before going next time..... but there will be a next time. WINNER! read more

We went here yesterday for an early dinner (first timers) and were very impressed. Loved the decor and seating (very comfortable). The service was on point. Food was excellent as well. If I could give this place 0 stars I would !! We came in around when happy hour was ending so it was packed inside but not that busy to not get attended too. We got attended to right away by a server she had green hair. She did greet us right away and asked us what we wanted to drink and we ordered a bar & I ordered a melon margarita. We waited for the drinks and it took FOREVER!!! I was trying to be patient but it's just ridiculous everytime I come to this area I feel like I'm being treated indifferent compared to the typical customer which is sad for the server considering my bf and I have been servers so we do tip and tip right . I usually will not complain or send back anything but today was unacceptable on everyone who was working. Like I said the drinks took about 15-30 minutes. Once the drinks came like I said I ordered a melon drink . The cantaloupe slices I gave to my friend she was eating it and realized there was something black on it. I look on the other slice and it was MOLD!!! When I asked the server what was on it she said " that's apart of the cantaloupe." And continued to walk while I was talking to her. Which I understand she "seemed " busy but while a customer is speaking to you stop and attend, and also learn the difference between what mold is and what's supposed to be on the cantaloupe. So we already had asked to close out by then of course she did that quickly and then once she came back I told her it was mold and she proceeded to apologize saying , " omg I'm so sorry " and took the drink away. Which annoyed me because this could've been avoided if she one. Stayed and talked to me and two. Knew what she was selling and when the food has mold on it! Never coming back !!!! Abstract: Other than the IHOP on Bellaire and Grand Parkway that had no eggs one morning (no tragedies ocurring..no floods or plagues of locusts or infestations of velociraptors), The WhatABurger directly next door (diifferent, day, time and situation...totally unrelated to the IHOP event....and yes I did say something evil about this particular WhatABurger..I'm convinced that this franchise is there to remind us why we should appreciate the 99.99% of all other WhatABurgers) and the Starbucks on the West side of Hwy 6 close to FM 529 where the Barista said 'they did not do "pour-overs" (it's bound to happen that I would find the one and only coffee Nazi in Texas..."no pour-over for you") this has got to be the single worst dining experience I have ever had the misfortune to have...the place looks nice but as my Mother always said..."you can't tell a book by".. well you know the rest of it. Content: Okay, you now read the abstract...let me present my data. If you choose to replicate the study and have the same outcome you have been forewarned. I should have known when there was no line at a new restaurant on a Friday night in LaCenterra that at very least it was not going to be a 5 Star Review however if you read any of my reviews you'll find that I try to find some redeeming value in every business I visit...I'm a business owner and I believe owners invest a great deal and deserve the benefit of the doubt if you have a poor experience....since there are, I think, 2 other locations for Bar Louie either the owners have a great deal of cash and are just 'popping open' restaurants or this particular one has or had a poor manager whe we visited. it is a visually pleasant place, nice ambience, so stick your head in and have a look but exit rapidly and go to another restaurant because the pleasantries will end quickly. The server was pleasant but took 20 munutes to tell me that the beer I ordered was out at the bar (it was Friday night...at 19:00 hours...7:00 PM at a place called Bar Louie) well such things happen...certainly not the end of the world...so what about this beer says I selecting another option..."I don't know" was the servers response...this was in the list of less than 10 beers on tap listed as their favorites on the 1st page of their menu in a restaurant that was certainly turning tables but had plenty of vacancies...enough that the few stragglers who happened by were able to sit on entry...my wife ordered an Ultra which wasn't on their tap menu and was served a glass...when she inquired as to the whereabouts of the bottle from which it was poured the server said it was on tap...again...not the end of the world and an assmption made by my wife that ordering a beer not on the tap menu would result in a tapped beer is certainly not the reason to pan a restaurant however after waiting 20 minutes for a beer in a bar, in a restaurant with vacant tables,at least 4-5 servers o the side of the restaurant on which we were sitting and being told rather curtly after about 10 minutes of waitng for an order of 2 beers that 'the bar was backed up' (ceratinly not with my beer order) seems odd...and the reason I would suggest that the place is not well managed. I could spend another 20 minutes and 10,000 words telling you about hte overcooked hamburger I recieved the 2nd time (the 1st order served was not my hamburger to which the server stated 'they keep doing this to me') and my wife's rare hamburger which she had ordered me 'well-done' (not the result in her estimate...a poorly done rare hamburger) but I'm not going to belabor the point...oh wait...I will..."may I have some 'ketchup' (or catsup if you prefer) please"..."sure"...after about 5 minutes I asked the folks who were dining next to us if I could use their bottle....they said yes and I was gratified to induce some moisture into a meal which surely came from a still dehydrated MRE... the ketchup was for the fries BTW....a startling and I suspect rare request for a condiment in a restaurant that 'features hamburgers' and french fries. My wife was so perturbed she asked for the manager...I became perturbed with her request for certainlty a bar unable to serve a beer after 20 minutes by a server uncertain about the availibility of the remaining 9 or less options of beer on their "Featured Beer Menu" was not going to be able to timely produce a manager??? After about 5 minutes the server returned to tell us that the manager was 'snowed' under...likley with the vacant tables. Conclusion: Skip it. read more

I have to laugh at this place. Went there for lunch today. Had two Chop Chop Salads a coke and a glass of wine for lunch. Not much change out of $60 when I settled the bill. When I was walking out I noticed their lunch menu in the vestibule. There wasn't one on our table and our waiter mentioned nothing about it. What is the point of having a lunch menu if you don't give it to people at lunch?! Really goes to show you the disorganization here. Service here is so so slow. We asked for an additional side of dressing for one of the salads and never got it. As mentioned before we really like the space. The food is just very bland (hence asking for more dressing) and the service is just too slow, especially for lunch. read more

We had the absolute best experience at Bar Louie last night. A good time always starts with a good waitperson and our server, Denise, was the absolute best. Our party consisted of 3 of my male cousins and their wives and me--I was the DD and my husband had to work early the next day. I lead with this because my male cousins can be a handful when they get together, but our server handled them with ease and patience. The food and drinks were also great. We had bar snacks: pretzels, chicken quesadillas, and loaded tots. The pretzel bites were soft and not chewy and served at a perfect temp. I preferred the mustard sauce as opposed to the quest, but to each their own. The chicken quesadillas had a good ratio of meat to cheese to tortilla, and the tots were crispy--nut mushy and served with fresh jalapeños. I didn't drink any of the cocktails but my group had no complaints about any of the drinks they ordered. They have a nice beer selection, too. We will be back. Hope to see y'all there. read more

I've been to this bar several times, and each time, I've held off on writing a review in the hopes that my next visit would be better. It wasn't. Everything about this place is so disorganized. It's a self seating restaurant/bar. You can chose to sit in the patio or in the booths inside. But either way, you're gonna be waiting a while for service. The servers have always been very nice but they can't seem to handle their sections due to the fact that it's self seating. Each time I've come here, it's been impossible to get a a hold of my server to ask for condiments or water. Whenever the server comes by the table, I know that I won't be seeing them again soon for at least 20 mins. Every time I go, I have to keep in mind that my time may be wasted. I could not find my server on my last visit to ask for my bill. I even considered leaving cash on the table because of how long it took for me to flag her down. Bar Louie is changing the bar scene everywhere . They have started to expand and can be found in almost lively neighborhoods . This one is consistent with the others I have been to . The patio, open island bar, good food, sports , local beers all strike a chord with my senses ! I took my colleagues here on a Wednesday night for a dinner , and none of them had ever been to a Bar Louie . They all liked the vibe , setup , food and the options . We got burgers, spinach and artichoke dip , sliders , hot and spicy chicken sandwich and tacos ! Everything was great , the best was the spinach artichoke dip. I tried the impossible burger with egg , and it was surprisingly good and tasted like meat . The location is great and the patio looks out to a great view of the residences nearby ! Sorry I just got confused because this restaurant smells exactly how I thought Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment would smell with the corpses. The table was filthy, the menu filthy, sent dirty tableware back only to have to ask for clean ones repeatedly and eventually just cleaned our own. The waitress - still holding dirty menus - after opening the obviously filthy kitchen door, reached w/bare hands into bins to garnish. Thank heavens I ordered a beer (which was way too warm). $17 for 3 fish sticks and cold fries was the capper to a less than stellar experience. What an absolute nightmare. I would literally lose my mind being the only server in a bar with 8 tables, 3 of which who just got sat, and not a single person helping out. The manager on duty, Jacob, sat at the bar on his phone the entire time and never looked up once. Our server was literally drowning while the bartender sat right next to the manager.
