After a great day of checking out an amazing and epic art museum and some cool rainy weather, we…read morewere in need of some delicious, comfort and yummy food. We wanted to eat something that would be filling, comforting, grab a few drinks but not necessarily need a whole sit down experience. So we stumbled upon Casita Taqueria. Thanks to the other awesome reviews, we knew this was the place to go! It literally feels like a casita when you walk in. They have lots of outdoor seating, picnic tables and such. Inside had a bit less seating (especially when it's raining and most of the people want to stay indoors). Either way, we found a table for 5 in no time. The ordering is easy, you go up to the register, order what you want and then they bring the food to you. No servers no waiters just easy. Highly recommend ordering a pitcher of margarita, we got the spicy jalapeño one and it was so refreshing! The food was delicious, freshly made, quick, and perfect for a lunch break. We got the tempeh nachos, rice and beans bowl, chips guac and salsa plus everything else the rest of our table got. We left full and our hearts happy! The ONLY THING I wish I would see was a super spicy house sauce. Which btw, they have a little fridge of their house made sauces for you to grab and enjoy. I just WISH there was a spicy one, the sweet one was pretty good!

We ordered the chip trio, 2 tacos, and a burrito. The queso was fantastic, the guac was decent, the salsa was very smokey which is a personal preference if you like that flavor or not. I really enjoyed the barbacoa but unfortunately did not like the carnitas - it had a sour flavor. Also, I was disappointed by the hot sauce because it wasn't hot at all (even the habanero one- just very sweet and tasted only like honey). However, everything is very reasonably priced and if you want a quick, affordable Mexican place in St Pete then this is a very solid choice. I give it a 3.5/5!

I love how you order at the window and sit down outside, there's no indoor area. Perks of Florida!…read moreLots of options and I wanted to try so much, but I'm only one person. I got the ceviche and the flautas. The ceviche wasn't my favorite, I'm used to citrusy fresh ceviche. This was more creamy. The flautas were amazing! Probably some of the best I've ever had. Good crunch, good filling. Still thinking about them. Great spot for lunch!

Extremely disappointed. My buddy and I walked down from Vertical Ventures hoping for good…read moreSpanish-style food and left feeling ripped off. Service was slow, and the pricing is absurd for what you get. Two street tacos ran almost $15 each taco was basically just a shell with a finger's-length portion of shredded protein, nothing else. The shredded pork and brisket tasted dry and bland, like they'd been sitting in a warmer for hours. On top of that, the sides are a joke: almost $4 for a tiny, maybe four-bite portion of rice or refried beans, and they even charge extra for sour cream. The rice was cold and under-seasoned, the beans tasted straight out of a can, and there's no lettuce, no pico de gallo, no real options. When I asked about swapping in black beans instead of refried, I was told they simply don't offer that. At these prices, you're paying for the downtown St. Pete location, not the food. This felt like a scam -- tiny portions, upcharges on everything, and food quality that reminded me of something you'd get in prison. I've lived in this area my whole life and won't be recommending this place to anyone, especially tourists in the summer. Given that the previous original red Mesa restaurant here didn't survive either, and that got shut down I understand why.
