Had an amazing experience here for our date night! Delicious house music beats accompanied by a friendly staff. Alessandra is such a nice hostess, and Natasha was our super sweet server! So the staff are actually terrific. The food is very good. The location is excellent. The reason for the one star is the giant wall size TV playing sports that they installed along with the TVs above the bar. Here's the short take: Good food, good service, and a comfortable yet upscale setting. Here's the long take: Very good pours on the wine, and decently strong mixed drinks. I normally order several appetizers to share with friends, most recently the flatbreads, each one of which was very good, ample, and satisfying. My last visit we had the cannolis which were solid without being overly sweet. So, I recommend this place and prefer it to many others of similar ilk in the vicinity. read more

The waitstaff was super helpful and friendly. They were able to share what was good recommendations for food and drinks. The food was so good and had healthy options which I craved. There also heavy food for those that are wanting more of a meal. Sizes portions are small for those looking for generous sizes. But you'll get full enough if your with friends sharing appetizers. Tonight. I was very happy when I got home and opened my takeout food from BarToscana. I ordered the Sogliola (mild white fish gently panko crusted) w/ lemon caper sauce+broccolini and mushroom soup. The fish was incredibly cooked and so delicious it was cooked to perfection. I'm so pleased I made the decision to order takeout, the food is great. I'm not sure why I was so resistant to checking out Bar Toscana for so long. I've lived in the neighborhood for over a decade and went to Toscana a few times for dinner, but didn't have any interest in checking out the more casual version next door. I think it's because I thought it would be a noisy bar where you would have to fight for seating and then go through the cumbersome process of ordering drinks when they're busy. My husband went a few times and told me to give it a try. So one evening we made reservations for dinner and went. We had a nice table by the window and went early enough so it wasn't too packed. It does fill up, especially by the bar area, but we had no issues with ordering food or putting in multiple drink orders. The ambiance reminds me more of a lounge/drinks in a cozy bar/library type of place. I really enjoyed my dinner there and will definitely return again in the near future. read more

We came for Valentine's Day this year and had a reservation for 8pm. It was packed. Our host sat us and then the server came at some point. Not sure if they were short a server, but our host actually ended up taking our drink order (which came really slow because they only had like 1 or 2 bartenders) and the host did apologize. He also took our appetizer order. Took ages to get the food, then the server came to see if we wanted the check and I told her I would like to order my entree. Fail. We got our entree order in and ordered another drink which took ages to come again ... you would think with all this waiting we would get something comped right? Nope. Anyways we proceeded to order dessert. Our dinner took over 2 hours almost 3. Food was pretty decent but very pricey (small portions). Our bill was over 300. This experience left a very mediocre taste in meh mouth. For the amount of Money we spent they should have tried to do something nice since we spent a majority of our time waiting for our server to come and she only really came 3 times( the first time to introduce herself, 2nd time to try to give us our check before we ordered our entree, and 3rd to drop off our check again), thank god we at least had our host who would pop in when we would be sitting there with empty drinks and no food on the table. Not sure if I'd return... I'm sure I can get better service and better food with the amount of money we would spend. They are not good with service recovery or valuing your business here. read more

Recently visited for drinks and appetizers. The cocktail menu was interesting with a lot of unique drinks, and I enjoyed the raging bull drink I ordered. The bruschetta was ok, definitely think it could have been a bit better with balsamic. They bring out a free appetizer of breadsticks and veggies which was a nice touch. read more

ORDERED: **TARTUFO NERO E BURRATA ($25) Burrata cheese and summer black truffle thin-crust pizza was decent, but I preferred a warmer, crispier, and cheesier pizza. **TIRAMISU' BAR TOSCANA ($9) Pavesini soaked in espresso, mascarpone mousse and chocolate shavings is one of my favorite desserts in the West Side. Creamy and whipped, the texture and flavors are perfectly combined. Not too sweet; just right. **GNOCCHI A PIACERE ($22) Potato dumplings tasted wonderful and fresh with our choice of sauce. We chose the meat sauce. Solid Italian fare. Customer service was excellent. Cocktails were excellent (we kept ordering the Old Fashioned). Place was BUMPIN during Oscars weekend. We arrived around 7:15 we were a little late for our reservations valet parking was great walked in our table was ready. .shout out to the host even though we were little late she was so gracious and sweet and lead us straight to our table. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because the food was amazing! We ordered a little bit of everything such as Margarita Pizza, crust was cooked to perfection in the thickness of the crust was not too thick nor was it to thin it was right in the middle. We also had tuna tartare, eggplant meatballs,noodle squash with some type of marinara sauce. Oh and let's not forget the lasagna and the cauliflower very tender so much flavor in every bite. Ambiance was very barish-chic. service was #Meh if you even want to call it that I don't know if she had too many tables but she rarely checked on us but the barback seem to be on it as far as refilling our Waters but there were a few times where we had two flag somebody down to order something and even to pay Drinks: umm okay they all have great little names, I had the gimlet which was ok but not really strong and not much flavor. But then again gimlets are plain& basic. one of my friends had a drink that was supposed to taste like Peach, it came out very pretty but tastes nothing like Peach. Soooooo. Over all the girls and I had a great time food was 100% amazingwe were there for about two and a half hours some of the girls stepped outside for a second to smoke. They could use some help as far as service and making the drinks taste better and not watered down so I'm going to give them a strong 3.5 and yes I will return! First of all, Toscana is one of my all time favorite restaurants as I have been going here for over 20 years. I was excited when they opened Bar Toscana as it allowed more space and of course a full bar. This was the first time I have eaten here as I have been for drinks before dinner but never eaten here as Toscana is so awesome. The atmosphere and vibe give off a modern coolness. There is seating at the bar and tables along the window. The menu has awesome meats and cheeses in case you just want starters. The wine menu is impressive and the drink selection is just as great. Hats off to the owners and staff as this bar is well organized and done right. We ordered a bottle of the super tuscan red Bolgheri Podere Sapaio from 2012. For starters we had the tagliere di salami which is a selection of italian salami served with homemade bread sticks and giardiniera to start. We also ordered the burrata speck with stracciatella, green heirloom tomato jam, smoked prosciutto and grilled pretzel bread. Both starters were beyond awesome. For dinner I had the cappaccio piemontese with thin beef fillet carpaccio with marinated artichokes, shaved pecorino and black truffles to start. For dinner I had the mortadella pizza with mozzarella, mortadella, champignon mushrooms, and grilled red onion. Everything was AWESOME!!! Got here for a night drinking. Pretty dark from outside, a little bit hidden. Fancy brentwood area, they have valet parking on the side street. A little bit small than I thought. It was all full by the time we got there. It was about 9pm on a weekday. We sat at the commu table. The girls next to us were already too drunk and were flirting with the guy sitting in the couch, saying ' you are the kind of man i want'.. really loud. Music is good here. Wine is pricey, exceeding the cocktails for majority of them. I barely see this happens. I hope this indicate their wines are good. Cocktails are about $14, and there is a big selection. Wines are over $15 for most of them. Tried the champagne, a little bitter, but really refreshing. My friend had a dessert wine, which smells like flowers, and tastes like apple. Really sweet. As we were not really hungry, only tried their burrata appetizer. It was good. tasty and fresh. For $15, yes, it is a $$$ bar. Ventured in to Bar Toscana late last night for a night cap. Bar Toscana is an off shoot of Toscana and a very welcome addition to Brentwood. It is a low lit, modern, long bar with several small tables lining up a long window that overlooks Barrington. It is a fantastic place to stop in for a drink while waiting for a table at Toscana, or as a destination for a few drinks and small bites. We did not eat there, but plan on coming back to do so. The bartender was very friendly and extremely busy making hand crafted cocktails. I will update this review in the future, once I have had a chance to eat at Bar Toscana. read more

On a pretty average night, I'll go out with my friends and one drink turns into a couple which turns into 'one of those nights' - well last night we were on a mission for a 'just one drink' night, which honestly doesn't happen as often as it should. We were on the hunt for a bar with an adorable decor, a radiant ambiance, friendly service and tasty beverages - great news for us that Bar Toscana is right around the corner and perfectly fit the bill! I got a Sorrento: Tequila, mint, cucumber amazingness :D next time, I'm going to have to ask for the jalapeno infused Tequila, it was already good but this little kick would make it even better! Love this place! It is super cute, intimate, chic and sophisticated while being less stuffy than Toscana next door. Sometimes you want to have great food and a cocktail without the razzle dazzle. Ben, our server, was very attentive and gave us great service. We tried the branzino and parpadelle funghi pasta. Both were delicious! We also loved their drinks! I got the Mexican Picante cocktail. Great place for a quick meal. Nice atmosphere not too loud but lively. The food was simple but very curated: we had a great salad with peas and artichokes, an array of 3 Italian cheeses really special, especially the blue cheese which was not too strong as it usually is. A great strawberry and pickled onion jam was accompanying the cheeses, and the bread was perfect. The pizza was truffle and mozzarella really good flavor combo and nice texture to the dough. Cocktails were also very well done, I got a pear Bellini and my hubby a smoky rye concoction, not too sweet! Will go back again, hoping to get a table in the middle of the action. The server/bartended did not seem to care at all about our table (two women who are not 20-ish). The olives were very mushy/soft as if they had been sitting in their brine for too long. This is one of my neighborhood jaunts. I hadn't been in a while, recently made it back in for dinner. I just love the food here. You really can't miss with anything. But on my latest visit I had the spaghetti and clams. Excellent flavor, with a slight spice, fresh clams. Just great. And their Tiramisu is the best in the city, not even a doubt. We had a reservation and were sat promptly- told it was a table it the corner and cramped, but it was valentines so we accepted. We waited bare minimum 20 minutes for drinks. The two tables sat immediately in front of us were done eating before we got our food. Everything was tasty, but the portions were tiny, and not even just for the money. I left still feeling like I could eat. Not what you want for 100 for a drink a piece, an appetizer, and two tiny "entrees". Gets 3 stars for the taste of the food- less for anything else.
