Nice atmosphere with lovely artwork throughout. Right down the road from 3rd street promenade There is a public multi level parking structure right next door plus street parking. Watch out because street parking is limited to permit after 6pm. Seating both inside and outside. There is a private room upstairs for parties and events. Happy hour available. Food is beautifully plated. Trout was a bit of a disappointment. The olives didn't seem to work with the grapefruit and fennel. Dessert trio was a nice combo

It has taken me this long to have an adventure at this magical place. The service was impeccable, detail oriented and smiles filled the energy of the restaurant. I wan to work here because I felt happy and seen! Meeting Michael was the icing on the birthday cake and the food filled my mouth and stomach like a diamond in the sky. I'm coming back soon for more. Happy hour made me happy until 7pm. Come join the fun!

Tuna was tasty, but was supposed to be hamachi.

We tried several Dine LA offerings in July/August of 2025, and this was the most disappointing. Portions were small, everything tasted good enough, but none of the entrees - Trout Almondine and Ribeye - were served even warm, much less hot. The ribeye was also scrawny. Salad was excellent, tuna crudo was uninspiring (was supposed to be hamachi), and the deserts were very good. The place was rocking, and as usual the back patio was lovely. Service was good but the servers were clearly overwhelmed. But I do expect more from Michael's, having been there many times over the years. Typically it's excellent. This meal was just meh.

Wow--Michael's truly delivered! I recently moved to Santa Monica, and my boyfriend insisted we check out Michael's--and I'm so glad we did. We stopped by during happy hour and ordered the fish and chips, oysters, wings, and the lobster roll. Everything was a 10/10. The service was fantastic--our waiter was attentive and checked in on us regularly. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place for Happy hour or dinner. Another bonus: it's just a short walk from the Promenade, which makes it super convenient. I've been dreaming about those fish and chips ever since. Can't wait for my next visit!

Went to Michael's with a few friends and we all really enjoyed it. I was concerned about parking and found that there was a public parking structure with inexpensive parking. We were seated on the back patio which had a lot of shade. The space had a good vibe to it. Our server never rushed us, she took the time to answer questions about the menu and made recommendations. So many times, you feel as if a server is there to do a job, our server was very personable. We shared a couple of Wild Mushroom tarts and for my entree, I had the Prime Short Rib. All of us enjoyed the food. At one point, Michael stopped by the table to greet us. I knew that the restaurant opened up in 1979 and a lot of chefs who went on to become legends started their career at Michael's. I found myself amazed that the restaurant had been open for 45 years which says something and that Michael was still greeting guests.

Excellent dinner celebrating my mom's birthday! It was lovely sitting outside protected by a tall awning. They gave heaters spread throughout so we never felt cold. We had syrah and a bottle of champagne that was amazing. We startes with the bread, fig salad and sausage pizza and incredible. We all loved what we ordered from the delicious branzino, wagu Bolognese, chicken and hamburger. We shared sides of cauliflower and truffle fries. For dessert we had pretty much everything on the list and are it up until we were all stuffed. I hope to return soon!

I've come here a few times now and it has not disappointed. Drinks are always delicious, the service is always on point. A few times the owner has come by and personally greeted to see how my experience was. I love going sunset hour because it has such a beautiful quiet atmosphere from the surrounding neighborhood.

We stopped by for their happy hour. They have a cozy patio and outdoor garden with heat lamps. The front was also dog friendly. The food was delicious. The oysters came with fun sauces. The fries from the fish and chips were so crunchy. The tuna tacos were fresh with great flavors. And the duck wings were amazing (although a bit challenging to eat without making a mess). It wasn't busy for a sat night and the tables were not all filled, but it did feel like we were being rushed out towards the end as we were trying to finish our drinks, as we were asked 3 times if we were ready to pay, which was the only downside. Otherwise the food was fantastic and would love to come back to try more happy hour dishes

Hi! Does anyone know if there is an all night happy hour on Friday?

    No, Sorry. Have Fun!

Is this the Miles Thompson restaurant, of James Beard nomination fame?

Yes it is. I've enjoyed his food since he was at Alumette in Echo Park.

It's located in the old Clock Tower building, and the Art Deco decor is absolutely stunning--dark enough to hide a bad day but vibrant enough for a girls' night. The Vibe: It's loud, lively, and perfectly "bohemian chic". If you're coming on a weekend, prepare for a crowd, but it's the good kind of crowded where everyone looks like they just came from a gallery opening. The Food: I'm still thinking about the Crispy Chicken Sandwich--it was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and came with a fennel-apple slaw that actually felt fresh. We also shared the Bacon Wrapped Dates (obviously) and the Hand Cut Kennebec Fries, which arrive in a bowl so huge it could basically be its own zip code. The Drinks: Their Happy Hour is arguably the best in the city. I had the Japanese Dream with matcha, and it was expertly crafted--not too sweet, which is my biggest pet peeve. The "Misfit" Moment: The service can be a tiny bit slow when it's "rammed," and there's a 4% kitchen fee that feels a bit unnecessary, but they make up for it with those complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookies at the end. They are warm, gooey, and life-changing. One major heads-up: I heard a rumor they might be closing their doors on April 18th due to some landlord drama, so get there while you still can.

Tasteless except for the pickles. What a struggle. I finally gave up 2/3 through. I realized I was forcing myself to eat it just to have something in my stomach. So then we ordered two so-called French fries. They are hardened little chips. None of the five of us at our table could stand them, and that included my grandson who normally likes crispier fries. He tried cutting 2 or 3 of them with a knife, and couldn't. I could tell my husband was very so-so about his salad. My daughter-in-law liked her Asian noodle salad though. My grandson liked his plain hamburger on a bare bun - how ridiculously basic. My son liked his pasta. At this point, we all decided on no dessert because the batting average was so low. Obviously, not coming back.

We split a $20 bottle that probably would have been $12-14 per glass elsewhere. Last night I spent $60 total for an appetizer, entree, and my portion of the wine. I really wanted to leave a glowing review because the kitchen absolutely delivered. That said, the service was incredibly frustrating. I understand it was Valentine's Day, and as someone who also works in the service industry, I tried to be patient and empathetic all night. I know holidays are chaotic. But our server was inattentive, dismissive, and overall made the experience way more annoying than it needed to be. I won't say where we were sitting because I don't want this server to get in trouble. Could've been a bad night for him. But you gotta lock in. At one point, he verballed the dessert options so quickly and with such an irritated tone that we just decided to cancel dessert altogether because he genuinely sounded fed up with us being there. It completely changed the vibe of the night. Ironically, the food runner was the one keeping everything together. He was kind, attentive, and actually seemed to care, so I ended up tipping him cash separately because I wanted to make sure he got something for his effort. I'd still come back for the food, but I really hope the service experience improves because it took away from what could've been a great night.
