I try to visit Prohibition every time I go to SLC. When I heard they had opened a location downtown, I knew I had to try Repeal. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere was very cool. They had a Jazz pianist the night I went. I ordered the Bison Ribeye and the Frozen Fig Soufflé for dessert. Both were amazing! It may have been the best steak I've ever had. My waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and had some great recommendations. It's a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. I will be back, and I suggest you give it a try sometime.

Loved the ambience of this place. You walk down a staircase and it opens into a speak-easy type setting with low lights and tables in quaint areas. The bar is wonderful with the lights and choices in front of you. The menu is an old newspaper which just adds the best touch! The bartenders are wonderful and open to helping which is very nice. I was able to try the Iron Work drink as well as the handmade Tahitian vanilla ice cream and the chocolate tartlet! The tartlet was interesting. I loved the chocolate but I got a little lost on the cream with basil on the top. It was good at first, but then I just went for the chocolate. The Tahitian vanilla was to die for!

Loved this place! The vibes, drinks, music, lighting were perfect. We stumbled upon this place on a Friday night and were thoroughly impressed! The band playing that night was awesome. I'm really glad a place like this made its way to SLC. Would definitely come back!

Ever since my son started really getting into Jazz music, I've been eagerly awaiting his 21st birthday so he could go to a real live jazz club with me. Well, the day finally came and we booked a table at Repeal, anticipating a cool jazzy experience. We were not let down! The atmosphere was swanky, the food and drinks were exquisite and the service was phenomenal. I'm so excited that downtown Salt Lake City has such a great place to sip on a Martini while listening to live music. It's spendy, no doubt. But you're not attending a low-level bar. This is an elevated experience and you're going to pay for that.

We were initially seated at a high top that wasn't intimate, for a date night. The server gladly moved us. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and generally just fun and pleasant. She was exceptional at her job. The bartender didn't have a local rye whiskey. No problem. He came over to explain and make a recommendation. The Black Manhattan was awesome. For my next drink I asked him to be creative. The drink was fabulous. The bartender was world-class. The food was good. Portions are small but that is totally acceptable for this level of dining. Pricing is acceptable for the quality. If you are looking for budget dining, that's ok.... you should just look elsewhere. They are no trying to operate in that space and are clear and upfront about that. The bar tender and server were open minded and accommodating. What I can't figure out is the "chef". We ordered vegetarian and pescatarian food. When we wanted to order the noodles (plain) without meat, we were told that the chef doesn't allow substitutions. How hard is it to plate fresh pasta noodles without meat? The server and bartender more than made up for the "chef" and so 5 stars it is!

Seek this out. The cocktails are top shelf in every way: creative, compelling, crushable. Live jazz plays behind the golden age ambience - the vibe cradles you in glamour. And the quality meets the moment. The small plates are indeed small, but they're refined rather than lacking. The octopus in particular is next level. Like escargot from a parallel universe. Entrees are more normal sized and equally well prepared. Huge shout out to the bartenders! We felt welcomed, valued, and almost immediately part of the Repeal family. This is a great spot for a romantic date night as well as just some quality cocktails. We're big fans.

Wow!! What a total makeover and totally moody vibes! Since it took over the old Bourbon House my expectations were pretty low however I was blown away from the total makeover and vibes that this place has created. From the moment you walk in till you leave you feel you are in the coolest place. The food was delish and presentation great. The reason for not giving it 5 stars was, 1 no prices on anything and if there were the printing was cut off so if you had a budget to stay in this wasn't the spot. The staff wasn't unpleasant but they def didn't make it a memorable experience and when we went for a bday nothing was expressed wishing a happy birthday and when asked at the end of the meal to take a picture of the group I was met with a little bit of an attitude of they were above doing this for us. I would have been a little more ok if it had been busy, which I wouldn't have asked but it was completely empty in the front and the host was just on their phone. Despite the minor service and menu hiccups, I would still go as I just was in love with space layout and the Shrimp Lemon Fettuccini!

I enjoyed the brisket pasta dish for dinner and would recommend the octopus and ahi tuna apps...delicious! Kind of a speakeasy vibe being in the basement. I guess they have the largest selection of whiskey in Utah so that is a bonus if you're into this. Good local beer selection. Overall a little pricey but food and service was good. Recommend trying!

Repeal is a whole vibe. We scored a booth in the back with a piano view, and it was the ideal setup. The musicians are wildly talented. That piano player. Credit where it's due: the chef showed up. The Lion's Mane mushroom dish was creative and unexpected, presentation on point. We also did the ahi tuna, octopus, and endive salad. Every plate looked thoughtfully planned, polished, and meant to be shared. Tapas is my love language, and Repeal speaks it fluently. Bring me another Manhattan Sil vous plait.

Such a cute little hidden spot! This is where Bourbon House used to be, and it's now a cute and classy little jazz bar. They have bites and drinks, and we went on a Thursday night and there was live jazz music. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and our server brought out a cake for her and the band played happy birthday. Such a great little spot, I can't wait to come back!

Atmosphere! The jazz quartet was amazing! Felt like a speakeasy by going down into the basement. Decor was impeccable. Menu was small, but our table of four tried quite a bit, with no bad vibes or tastes. All the proportions were just right! And dare I say, the bourbon collection is high end, and extensive. Will highly recommend!

This restaurant has a cool ambience and we went for the live jazz music! The music was great however they charge a $25 cover fee... at a restaurant I thought was bizarre. Anyways, the food is pretty expensive as well though we knew that going in. The menu only has 5 entrees and one of them was sold out that night so 4. I got the chicken which was very delicious and a side salad. I could tell their food was well made though I wish there was more options. We also had a reservation for a table although it was in the corner where you can not see the band so we switched to sit at the bar, kind of disappointing. The bar staff were very nice to us and the drinks were good as well. Probably would not come back since I got the one thing on the menu I wanted to try.

We were quoted a 10-15 minute wait despite there being multiple open tables everywhere, which already set the tone. The person at the front also seemed like greeting guests was a personal inconvenience. Not exactly the warm welcome you'd expect from a place trying this hard to look aesthetic. To make things worse, several pastries sitting in the front display were visibly burnt. Not "artisan charred" -- just burnt. The pastries we ordered were actually good, which makes the rest of the menu even more disappointing. We tried the soft scramble, pork cheek tartine, truffle tartine, and mushroom fettuccine. Everything looked beautiful but tasted either burnt, bland, or both. Every toast item arrived burnt enough that you could taste it in every bite. Our server came by often to refill waters and check on us, but the service somehow still felt oddly impersonal. Since the restaurant wasn't busy at all, it also made us wonder how attentive the service would be during an actual rush. Honestly, this place feels more focused on looking trendy than serving good food. Stick to the pastries if you go -- it's the only thing worth ordering.

Everything was delicious- well seasoned and perfect temperature- soft scramble look yummy - the Benedict so good they made it a yummy meatless dish! The eggs poached well and served with peas a really neat compliment to the dish. Mushroom pasta looked very good and I'll have to order it next time. Funghi pizza was excellent- the béchamel was excellent and melody of mushrooms yummy- crust was good a bit dark on the top but bottom crust good. He took the time to explain every special in detail, made us feel like we were longtime friends, and struck the perfect balance of being attentive without ever hovering. The atmosphere is the standout, fun, funky, retro, and very unique. It's everything I want in a restaurant vibe, and I do love that it's 21+. For a second, I thought I had found my new go-to Italian spot in SLC... but I was wrong. The food is way overpriced for what you get. We started with the puffy bread ($15), which was actually great, but the tiny side of dip was $6, bringing bread for the table to $21 for basically a few bites each. We also tried the eggplant parm ($18), which had solid flavor and texture. Then came the mains... and this is where it went downhill.. A friend and I ordered the tortellini in broth ($29), and after one bite, we both said the same thing: it tasted like overpriced chicken noodle soup. There were maybe 6-7 tortellinis total. Another friend's spaghetti was overly salty and felt very basic for the price. The ravioli ($27) was the best of the entrees, but still pretty mid and not worth the cost. Service didn't help either, very slow, long gaps between apps and mains, food coming out at different times, and drinks rarely refilled. There were plenty of staff around, so it was surprising how little attention we got. Overall: the interior is a 5/5, and I'd maybe come back for a drink at the bar if I was in the neighborhood. But for the price and quality, there are much better Italian spots in SLC.

Then we shared the pasta sampler (which has a much cooler name that I can't recall because I don't speak Italian!). I was never a big fan of gnocchi but it was fantastic, served in a spicier tomato-based sauce. There was a spectacular butternut squash ravioli, spinach ravioli, and a spaghetti with an indescribably delicious cream sauce. Overall, that dish is NOT to be missed. We also had a special entree of beef tenderloin with mushrooms, shaved potatoes, and an oxtail sauce. We shared it because OMG food coma, which was a great call. We finished with the tiramisu *swoon* and the lemon gelato with lemon juice, local Utah honey, and sea salt sprinkles. I'm not a big lemon dessert fan and I wouldn't have normally ordered it (I had the tiramisu). The lemon gelato with honey had such a pleasantly unusual texture. The honey had the mouth feel of stringy cheese but the flavor of spring. The gelato was delicate and soft and the salt just amplified the experience. Zachary was our server.
