Stopped into Barbella today to get a rook piercing. This was my first time at Barbella as well as my first cartilage ear piercing. Before deciding to get my rook pierced I did some research and I had repeatedly read how painful it can be. However that was not at all my experience! Stephen was my piercer and he was extremely professional and experienced. The entire process took no time at all and the piercing itself did not hurt; just a quick pinch and it was over. I can not thank the team at Barbella enough for their professionalism, attention to detail, warmth, knowledge and talent. Ariel was incredibly helpful answering ALL my questions and Cat made my kiddo feel totally at ease and made piercing a breeze. I am so glad I didnt fall prey to ll the judgers who thought it was over the top to get lobes pierced at a piercing studio for 3 times the price as Claire's etc. I can assure you the value is there. The time spent with the piercer whose attentiveness to my kiddo's feelings, my reservations, and hygiene was well worth it and far better value add. If you are waffling about doing lobe piercing by needle vs gun, it is an easy choice if you come here. read more

I went to go browse their jewelry selection, and even though they were open, the door was locked. A girl with a horrible attitude proceeded to come open the door and asked if I had an appointment- I said no and that I just wanted to look at the jewelry. She had a face mask on, and told me that before I come in she was going to get a mask for me; I declined and told her to forget it. Super disappointed with the whole experience here. I choose not to wear a mask, just like some choose to still wear one. I will not support any business that takes away freedom of choice. read more

I came in today to get a second piercing on my lobe and had such a great time. Cat did a great job with placement and went into detail about aftercare. She helped me feel calm and relaxed by doing some breathing exercises. This was my first time getting piercings done with a needle and it was a great first time experience. They made me feel very comfortable and at ease, and I really appreciated that they prioritized health and told me I didn't have the anatomy for the eyebrow piercing that I initially wanted. One tiny little irksome detail: when it was time to pay, the pos machine shows a suggested tip amount for the piercing AND the jewelry. this place is amazing!! i came here w two other friends during their pet fundraiser where they do $10 for each standard piercing. i got 2 helix piercings with hoop jewelry for a total i was blown away by how great and smooth the whole process was! the staff is super nice and helpful :,) it was a bit of a wait but that's to be expected during such a great price reduction. i went around 6:30 and ended up waiting ~2 hours but it was 100% worth it! edit: realized way later that they really shouldnt have let me walk out w hoop starter earrings for my fresh helixes, that really set me up for disaster. i rlly dont know why they would even allow that? they took way longer to heal and one of my helixes is now crooked :/ read more

The first time I came in here I was greeted by a rad girl very sweet and helpful (even helped me pick out my jewelry). However, there was another girl in the front desk sort of a knock-off Skrillex, she was rude and had an f-off face the whole time. As for the work, Stephen is awesome! His skills speaks for itself. This dude is a cool cat, made me feel comfortable from the get go. He quickly switched out my daith piercing a couple weeks back/ resized my forward helix. The shop is nice and clean. They also have cool music. Fast forward to today. I came in for a basic question while talking on the phone. Not even a minute passed and the gremlin turned and was giving me all her suppressed anger & attitude. I had just taken my friend off speaker, like chill out! I even ended up hanging up. She then kept saying how I was distracting, yada yada yada that I was being rude. Before she was able to hand me a samurai sword for the grave mistake I had made, the sweet girl stepped in to my rescue! If Barbella ever published a "How to conduct business safely during Covid-times" It would be a Best Seller. As a customer, I must say how impressed I was at their protocol having stepped through it myself. But also the communication pre-appointment (online via their website) was very simple, concise and clear. The whole process was a dream. Now, all my previous ear piercings have been at Claire's with a gun....I did not know places like this existed. In comes Yelp to save the day, yet again. I made 2 appts back to back, one for my friend's nose piercing (STUD) and one for me to see if my closed up lobe holes could be salvaged. Once you step inside, they lock you in - basically to keep everyone else out. You are their main focus! The lady - sorry I didn't catch her name, but she helped us at the beginning and the end. She educated us about the jewelry and piercing care. No pressure to upsell or buy anything. Derek Wallace is who pierced us both and he truly put my friend at ease for her nose piercing!! He is very personable and funny, and so good at his trade. I would come back in a heartbeat! read more

I came here, they are drop-in only, for a 3rd lobe and then decided helix. It was the afternoon on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. We had to wait for about half an hour, but it went by fast because you have to sign the online form, pick out your jewelry, and get a written quote. Everything was explained and all questions were answered. My friend and I went together and we had the same piercer attend us both. We were told to avoid bodies of water for 6 weeks. And could come back for an assessment for infection in 4-6 weeks. We worked Parker, who was very nice, patient, and most importantly sanitary. At the last moment, I changed my jewelry for one of the piercings and Parker was very kind and patient about it. We were able to lay down on the medical exam table which was good to relax and keep still. The walls had some cool artwork to look at. Parker was very calm and explained everything thoroughly. I expected it to be more painful, in fact I feel blood draws or waxing hair was more painful than the piercings in my ears. It felt as safe and professional as a doctor's office. While it is very pricey (to be fair, I haven't had my ears pierced in like 20 years when I was a kid), it was worth it. I plan to be back for more! We paid at the end and I got a saline solution that I had to use at least twice a day. I got the smaller container because I was going to travel on a flight that week and wanted it for my carry-on. I also got a small brochure and a contact card with information on it for how to clean my piercing. When I walked out it was a little windy and cold and that seemed to cause a little pain, but I didn't need any pain medication that day. Sleeping was probably the biggest challenge because I sleep in the side I had the helix piercing so I had to sleep on my back. They did recommend an airplane donut style pillow, but I didn't have one, so I just put two regular pillows near each other to form a V and left a space for my hear to go in between and that seemed to work fine for the helix. The lobe pain didn't bother me at all to sleep and I was able to sleep on the side that just had the lobe piercing. My friend got her nose piercing too, which she said was a little more painful and she was happy with her outcome. She said she brings her kids here and has had good experiences with them too. I'd recommend trying this place out. I plan to come back in the future. read more

I cannot say enough great things about this place! Yesterday I went in with an irritated a** nose ring & I needed help finding something to replace my current cheap ring. I was in search for something that was real gold, reasonably priced, and fit properly. They made me feel as comfortable as possible, made suggestions and schooled me on proper aftercare as well. Within just a few hours my nose began to heal and looked sooo much better. Today my nose looks 90% better than it did yesterday and I'm not even sore from the ring swap out! Been in and out of the those doors for over 10 years and never had a bad experience. Their staff is friendly, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable. Their jewelry is worth the price because the quality is top notch - you get what you pay for! I got my belly button pierced 10 years ago that had Swarovski crystal in the jewelry and to this day it's still pretty and never had an issue. Then a few nights ago I brought my 2 girlfriends in and we got a few ear piercings and it was such a fun experience - we plan on going back soon for more! They've also taken care of my friends who had bad luck with piercings done by other piercers and probably saved a trip to the doctors because Stephen removed them before it got bad plus had accurate advice for proper care. read more

I had a septum piercing for a few years that I absolutely loved, but had to remove for some reason I cannot recall, and for some reason the hole partially closed once I tried to insert my jewelry. I had passed this place several times and thought it had outrageously great personality, so I called to make an appointment for the next day. Steven (Stephen??) dude with the amazing style - was my piercer. We decided to attempt to reinsert new jewelry as maybe his deft hands could work magic mine could not. After several attempts we decided to go ahead and pierce it again - once it was done it was crooked as hell - but this master told me to hold off on judgement and to allow the swelling to go down (trying to insert a new piece first had caused the swelling) he was absolutely on point. This new piercing calmed down within 24 hours and felt better with far better placement than my previous piercing. The old one I could feel rub against cartilage and this one never hurt or bothered me once. It healed fast and never hurt once. If you're thinking of being pierced I'd recommend this place time and again - they're not as$holes with egos like other places, and they know their stuff. read more

Staff was friendly and welcoming - I had been concerned they would be off put that they were having to just pierce a little girls ears, but they treated her awesome and spent time with her. After a lot of nervous research, I am SO glad I decided to take my Mom here to get our ears pierced. It was my first piercing, and I was very worried about the aftercare/possible infection, but they have been so helpful throughout the process. Derek did our piercings, and he was awesome, super funny but also very professional, + did an amazing job. After a few days, I had some concerns about my healing process, and they not only got me on the same day, but Stephen was very helpful in assessing my piercing + giving recommendations to ease the swelling.
