This place took me back to my childhood pizza joint! A family owned business with delicious food. We had ravioli, spaghetti, pizza, and of course their famous garlic bread. All of it was really yummy. We had great service as well.

Stopped in the old Barbiere's here as it's been entirely way too long. I had the 11" gluten free pizza and my son had the 8" pizza. Both were as good as I remembered it. Topped it off with a canoli Yum!

After all these years, this place still packs them in! Had to wait a while as it was very busy. Our server Gia was awesome. I felt like it was 1980 all over again with the iceberg lettuce salad had two pieces of pepperoni, two pieces of cheese, one pepperoncini, and one olive and one tomato. Garlic bread had lots of buttery flavor and sizable. The pizza was hot and chewy. I'm not sure how I feel about the crust cause you really had to work at it.

Date of visit: August 24, 2023 When Mama Mia's was closed due to "excessive heat," we needed to find a new place that would help us get our garlic bread fix and boy did we succeed! This cozy 17-table establishment is the epitome of "hole in the wall," in the nicest way possible. We were greeted by quite possibly the sweetest server I have ever had, Dee Dee. She is the kind of waitress that drives customer loyalty and returning customers, which I feel we will definitely be after this visit! In addition to Dee Dee, the food was great! The antipasto had tomatoes, which wasn't listed on the menu, but they were easy to work around, and I enjoyed the little slices of cheese, pepperoni, and salami in the salad for extra flavor. The pizza was also quite good; we went with the deep dish and if you like bread this is definitely a deep dish for you. If you are more of a sauce person, best to stick with the thin crust here. Also thoroughly enjoyed the tiramisu, a famously tricky dish to make. I was also surprised at how well it was presented. I don't need it to be fancy, but it surely was! BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Really the highlight of the meal is the garlic bread. Sorry, it should be treated with the reverence it deserves. The highlight of the meal is. The. Garlic. Bread. It's garlicy, it's buttery, it's amazing! I would recommend eating with a fork and knife to save your fingers, but do not eat here without trying the garlic bread. Allergic to garlic bread? Eat it anyway, your last moments will be worth it!

Stopped in during the week and the place wasn't packed but it was pretty steady. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable! Good food recommendations. The canoli was amazing and the meatball sandwhich was also very flavorful. The food was so good that we even ordered a pizza to go!

Always a great pizza spot! We stopped by for a birthday dinner. We weren't sure what we wanted on our pizza but definitely wanted an antipasto salad. Our server said she'd take all of the order at once since they're slower in the kitchen due to staffing. We appreciated the heads up and dinner didn't take too much longer than normal. Great server who handled multiple tables at once. Food was good. Will come back!

Penne with meat sauce and extra mozzarella, across the table is lasagna

The food was amazing, but service was a little slow even though there weren't many people there (2 pm). I asked for extra mozzarella on my penne and it was perfection :)

I also had the opportunity to try the Agnolotti, filled with Maine lobster and house ricotta, finished with a peppercorn cream sauce and lemon oil. It was just as impressive. Large menu with just about any Italian dish you can imagine -some super creative- but also high quality pizza if you don't want to go for something fancier or are in a group. Large wine list. House cocktails. Truly awesome desserts that were tough to choose from -best tiramisu I've had in years! The hostess was lovely & our waitress was very professional but so sweet & personable (I believe her name was Kayla). It isn't a huge restaurant, being downtown, so it's a little cramped but I wouldn't call it a real issue. I highly suggest a reservation if it's after 5pm. Some outdoor seating as well. Lovely decor & wall art that adds to the Italian ambiance. Very clean establishment & easy access to well kept restrooms. Our bill was a bit high, but that was mostly because some of the cocktails were over $15 & the prices of those aren't shown on the menu -they sure were delicious but keep that in mind if you're trying to stay under $100 for two people. The food (& service) was totally worth the price though. Highly recommend coming in for a date night or even with the family! We started with a couple of the signature cocktails. My Papa Gio's Old Fashioned was outstanding. The additional Cynar amaro is a stroke of genius. For starters, we ordered the Fried Eggplant (Melanzane Fritte), which was probably the best we have ever had. It arrived piping hot, and the breading was fried to perfection. The eggplant itself was mild, with no hint of bitterness. The accompanying marinara sauce was thick and flavorful. For entrées, we ordered Gio's Stuffed Filet and the Chicken Parmesan. The filet was cooked perfectly to medium-rare and was delicious. The Chicken Parmesan was a huge portion. There were literally three chicken breasts, each with well-seasoned breading and fried to a beautiful golden crispness. It was excellent. We had plenty of leftovers and enjoyed several more meals at home. (The eggplant reheats especially well in an air fryer.) Service: We had a 5:30 reservation and were seated right away. We let our server know that we had a performance to attend and were assured that we would be out with plenty of time to spare. For the vast majority of the evening, the service was great. Unfortunately, things changed toward the end of the meal. We literally could not find our server, and we suspect they may have also been handling a party upstairs. Since we needed to leave, we had the host help us get our bill paid. Feeling rushed at the end of the meal took a bit of the polish off an otherwise excellent experience. Atmosphere: The restaurant is small and has an authentic feel to it. The photos and décor make you feel as though you're dining in a typical European restaurant. The tables are close together, and it was a bit noisy at times. Overall, we had a very good experience. I can't say enough about the drinks and food. I just wish the service had been more consistent throughout the evening. We are looking forward to our next meal there.

My partner and I walked in planning to grab nothing more than a coffee and bakery, but thanks to the bartender, Kimberly, we ended up staying and having the brunch special. Not the usual run-of-the-mill small talk, but real, intellectual back-and-forth that made us feel like we were catching up with an old friend. What stood out even more was how highly she spoke of the owners and her coworkers. You could tell she wasn't just reciting lines-she truly respects the people she works with and for, and that kind of pride shows in the atmosphere of the whole place. And yes, through some amazing visual descriptions, she convinced us - two guys who were only stopping for caffeine and sweets - to order brunch. Zero regrets. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and the food absolutely lived up to her hype. A memorable experience from start to finish. The drink menu features plenty of specialty cocktails, and I took our server's recommendation and ordered the Whisky Paloma, which was an excellent choice. I loved the chili dust along the rim. It was hard to decide, but I ended up ordering the Burrata pizza with grilled peaches, arugula, and honey. It was very good and would have been even better with a few more grilled peaches. I also ordered the grilled octopus because, if it's on the menu, I just have to try it. It was very good, along with the accompanying roasted potatoes. I prefer my octopus well grilled and firm, and this preparation was a bit softer than I would have liked. We finished with the tiramisu, which was a little disappointing. It was both very cold, as though it had just been thawed, and a bit soggy. Service: The service was very good throughout the evening. We were seated right away, and our server did a nice job of getting us settled in. The drinks and food arrived surprisingly quickly, and we felt well attended to throughout the meal. Thanks, Robert! Atmosphere: The building is a gem, with old brick on the outside and a modern, relaxing design on the inside. There is a foyer where guests are greeted and can wait for their tables. The wood wall treatments and lighting are inventive and upbeat. The many hard surfaces make the acoustics a bit loud, but we were still able to have a conversation comfortably. Overall, it was a very good experience. With a bit more attention to some of the final touches on the food, this could have been an even better experience. We would enjoy coming back again.
