This place used to have great food - not any more! This review is about the third time we had an error in our order and bad food. Mosticioli with cheese was dry because they over cooked it. The cheese on top was dark brown and crusty. Ordered sausage sandwich on garlic bread with cheese and onions- no cheese no butter on the bread and they sautéed the onions so they were greasy and limp. You might expect those onions on a greasy burger. Extra garlic bread ordered was the color of dark toast and wad very hard. . After all these years, this place still packs them in! Had to wait a while as it was very busy. Our server Gia was awesome. I felt like it was 1980 all over again with the iceberg lettuce salad had two pieces of pepperoni, two pieces of cheese, one pepperoncini, and one olive and one tomato. Date of visit: August 24, 2023 When Mama Mia's was closed due to "excessive heat," we needed to find a new place that would help us get our garlic bread fix and boy did we succeed! This cozy 17-table establishment is the epitome of "hole in the wall," in the nicest way possible. We were greeted by quite possibly the sweetest server I have ever had, Dee Dee. She is the kind of waitress that drives customer loyalty and returning customers, which I feel we will definitely be after this visit! In addition to Dee Dee, the food was great! The antipasto had tomatoes, which wasn't listed on the menu, but they were easy to work around, and I enjoyed the little slices of cheese, pepperoni, and salami in the salad for extra flavor. The pizza was also quite good; we went with the deep dish and if you like bread this is definitely a deep dish for you. If you are more of a sauce person, best to stick with the thin crust here. Also thoroughly enjoyed the tiramisu, a famously tricky dish to make. I was also surprised at how well it was presented. I don't need it to be fancy, but it surely was! BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! I moved into the neighborhood and asked my neighbor for good pizza nearby. They suggested Barbiere's so we walked over and said we were new to the neighborhood. It's Italian-American, they aren't trying to be authentic Italian, which means they have great Italian American (New Yorkish) pizza, 'ghetti and meatballs (my fav), and a decent house Chianti. He said the delivery comes from Door Dash and he has no control over that. He said it is a 3rd party. Then he said the website is driven by Froogle, a 2nd party. In other words, he had no intention of dealing with my dissatisfaction. I told him to cancel. He said he couldn't because of Froogle. I ended up paying $51.24 for a pizza and bread that I never received. My husband and I had fond memories of this restaurant from our high school days, and we wanted to see if it was the same. Service- overall I think the service was just okay. Our waiter was really nice but I was left amazed by the service from all the staff Food- we ordered the medium salad Antipasto salad. It tasted really good. I would have preferred to have more cheese on it but it was a great tasty salad. My only big critique is that that plate for the salad was bigger, while trying to grab it, it would fall on the table. A bowl would be nicer. The pizza was really good. We ordered to mushrooms and spinach 16" which was filling. Garlic bread was good as well! Final thought- on the top of the menu for the pizza it states there is a 20-30 wait. Barbeire's Italian Inn is a charming neighborhood Italian eatery offering up hearty portions in a cozy setting. Came here on a late Sunday afternoon looking for lunch. Even past the usual lunch hour, this place was bustling with patrons (a good sign, yes?). They have a variety of salads, soups, pastas, and pizzas in addition to other popular Italian dishes. I ordered their lunch portion meat lasagna while my dining companion opted for their vegetarian lasagna. The lasagna was hearty, cheesy deliciousness--just like lasagna ought to be. The lunch portion is still quite large. I would imagine the dinner portion would leave plenty to take home for lasagna lunch leftovers (lasagna makes for amazing leftovers, no?). The star of the show, though--that garlic bread! Big, thick, slices of of bread garlic buttered (wait for it!) on both sides. Indulgent and utterly scrumptious. The service was quite friendly and even with their size and popularity, we were seated right away. The pizza gets such rave reviews, I can't wait to try that next. WOW WOW I wanted to grab something for dinner for later before the winter weather got any worse and the roads were still good. I rarely order pasta dishes because I cook them so much at home but a lasagna dinner came to mind so I called in a to go order. My whole experience with the people was pleasant and my order was ready on time. Then menu is small with pizza, a few pasta dishes, a few sandwiches and deserts basically which I totally like because I feel smaller menus usually have better food. I opted for the lasagna dinner which comes with 2 garlic breads, cup of minestrone soup, small antipasto salad and a small spumoni ice cream. First off my lasagna dinner came in a half filled full size paper grocery store bag, it feeds 2-3 people easy. My lasagna was the meat sauce with mushrooms and came in at just under 2 pounds, that's impressive. The lasagna was tasty and super cheesy with tons of mozzarella with a meat sauce that's not the sweet annoying style with mushrooms. The minestrone soup was ok but honestly minestrone soup has never done anything for me. The antipasto salad was nothing special as salads go with a tomato, pepperoni, sausage wedge, pepper and one black olive over iceberg lettuce. The garlic bread was super thick with the texture of an artisan sourdough bread that seemed toasted and dipped whole in a pool of garlic butter and not toasted/cooked again but good with a bigger garlic smell than the taste which I liked because I thought it would be super garlicky and it was not. It's a dense hearty bread thats cut lengthwise, l like a lighter bread personally that's toasted but it's different/good in a weird way. Take that great garlic bread and smash it into the lasagna to pull all that sauce and cheese for a tasty appetizer. Overall it does make for a well rounded lasagna dinner that can easily be shared by two average people and if you like Italian cheesey/saucy goodness than try the lasagna dinner because it did not disappoint. read more

About six months ago, we ate dinner (for the second to last time) at Barbiere's. During this and previous visits, we were very unhappy with the dirty carpet in the entire dining area... food scraps, napkins, general table debris, all totally being ignored by both servers and the teenaged hostess. We had been, during earlier visits over the last two years, generally not so happy with the cavalier attitude of the young, teenaged and obviously inexperienced help in the dining area; hostess and servers alike. The next day, after that second to last visit, I actually called and spoke to a manager at the restaurant and told him about the condition of the dining room and the our perception of the help. He was apologetic, said he would take action and offered to comp us a meal. We declined the offer and haven't been back until last night, 8/25/2012 at about 8:00PM. What brought us back was a strong yen for pizza and the convenience of Barbiere's being close by, so we decided to give them another shot. The carpeting: A lot cleaner! We ordered a pizza, garlic toast and a glass of pinot noir. The garlic bread came quickly. It was (is) very good and unique, albeit very, very oily. Upon getting the glass of wine, I immediately saw that I would be in competition with several fruit flies that were now dive bombing the wine glass. Unfortunately, one took a successful Kamakazi dunk in the wine while I was swatting away. Hmmm. With my better half shaking her head in disgust, I started to fish the poor fly out of my wine with a spoon, intending to drink the wine (which is why I was getting the "you're disgusting" look). But then.... what's that? Ah heck. Inside the wineglass, I am now looking at a round wad of what looks like a splotch of thick, greasy dried fat, stuck to the inside of the glass. That did it for both of us. We showed the server, who was genuinely contrite. We asked to have the pizza packaged to go and asked for our check. The wine, obviously was taken off the bill, but she also took the garlic toast off, even though we had taken a slice out of it. Strike three. We're done at Barbiere's. read more

He required us to order the garlic bread... this stuff is crack. Actually no, It's better than crack. They soak the bread in a giant vat of butter so it's a heart attack waiting to happen but if I died and that was the last thing I ate..I'd have died happy. You should definitely order it with a side of marinara sauce with meat and a side of parmesan cheese. Absolutely delicious but be sure to grab a lot of napkins- lots of buttery fingers after that one! The pizza was good but it wasn't great. Maybe it's because I'm used to eating New York style pizza rather than the thinner and crispier pizza. We got half sausage and half cheese. The cheese was coming off the sides of the crust and you couldn't even manage to find the crust to hold the pizza.
