We had a lot of fun checking this place out! We're suckers for barcades for starters, but it checked off a lot of things we look for: good selection of games (would love if they had ski ball!), spacious, and chill. The food is also pretty bomb. I got the house made vegan burger and it was really good!

Came here for a holiday party! This place was super fun, we had a private buffet, unlimited tokens and top shelf bar drinks for a few hours. Lots of fun arcade games - love the stranger things pin ball machine and this Asian games machine that's towards the back on the right side. That one was really fun and you can have up to 3 players. The bathroom was clean! They also have a private area in the back that you can reserve for an event. Super cool place and the bar staff were nice.

Ok so just an updated review. They done upgraded their nachos! So nachos are the best dish they have imo and the smash burger 2nd. They got better chips (harder/last longer in the sauces) their salsa is also way better, and whatever else they changed done upgraded the flavor. But my favorite bartender is still David god bless and try to beat me in the race car game, I dare you.

We love this place! We've gone for date nights and brought our friends. Such a cool vibe and hang out spot. I've ordered the Buffalo cauliflower wings every time. So good! My husband gets a smash burger, fries are also good. So nice to eat good food, grab a drink and play arcade games. If you can't find a parking spot in the adjacent lot there's always street parking. I want to come take our kids on a Sunday family day in the afternoon. We'll always take our friends to this spot.

Throwback retro style! Cool spot to check out however they should make it about the experience and label EVERY game 1 token... Nobody is an expert here they just want to replay their childhood games. No need to take advantage of that. Great variety, good drinks, something for everyone service was quick Con: Some games require 2 or more tokens which is a downer

Onion rings were good but the portion size was lacking.

This is a very fun place. It's 21 and up all day, every day, EXCEPT Sunday when kids are allowed. So keep that in mind. Also, consider this a shameless plug for Galco's, which is literally right across the street, on the same side. There is no better store, maybe on earth, to find zillions of interesting soft drinks, beers, international alcohols, etc. They have other stuff, too. Back to Barcade: the draft beers are excellent. The food is fine. We tried the onion rings and they are nice and not greasy, although the portion size was stingy. But if you came here for the games, they are great. They have all the old school games, Ms. Pac Man, Asteroids, Joust, Donkey Kong, Q-Bert, etc. They also have a ton of pinball games. The prices for the games are outstanding. Most cost one token (25 cents). The most expensive games--pinball-cost three tokens (75 cents). And every game was in working order although a couple of the video games glitched a little. The three of us played games for about two hours and spent $20 on the games. (Clearly, they don't make money on the games--it's the beer and booze where they make their money, which is fair.) I would come here with or without kids. What a great spot.

Brought out our inner big kids for vday. Had a blast!!! You're gonna find all of your 80s-90s favs! Such a retro feel and they have endless machines. Even as the day went on and it started to get packed - I never felt like I was waiting in line for a game. Games are anywhere from 1-3 tokens (quarters). I was pleasantly surprised with the bar food. Their double patty cheeseburger was a solid backyard burger. Fries felt hand cut and fresh. Their Mozzi sticks could use some more cheese, but had a great melty pull to it. They offer a wide selection of beers AND you can sample. Would love to hear some oldies hip hop or rnb to add to the vibe.

Surprisingly good food from Barcade. We got the nachos. Plenty of cheese, sour cream to cover each tortilla chips. Our group had ordered other food from the menu and enjoyed them. It is truly a barcade with majority of the This was a fun hangout spot to catch up with friends. It was not too busy for a sunday night. Plenty of street parking around.

My wife and I came here for a date night and it was so much fun! They have so MANY games to choose from. The place itself was a lot bigger than I expected. On top of the games they have a lot of drink options and the food was great as well. Definitely recommended!

I had such a great time here! I was looking for an arcade bar to host my birthday party at and stumbled upon Barcade. I sent a request and reserved a table and food for 30 people on a Saturday night from 8:30-10:30PM. Mars was very easy to work with and helped me get everything settled for the night of. Parking in the area was a bit difficult on the night but wasn't impossible. We found street parking and then walked over. IDs are required to get in and it was quite crowded. Thankfully there were a lot of workers and we were able to get served quickly. I ordered party platters for the event which included the fried pickles (really good), French fries, super smash sliders, grilled chicken sliders, chicken tenders, and fried cauliflower. Note that if you don't buy a certain amount of food you can't bring in cupcakes or a cake from somewhere else. All the drinks were tasty and the food was great, they even provided to go containers for any leftovers. Some of the games ate our tokens but the employees were able to help us out and gave us back some tokens. Other than that all of the machines are well maintained and were very fun to play. Thank you Barcade for helping me have a great birthday gathering! You definitely need to stop by!

Had a lot of fun here with my friend who showed me this place. Nice selection of pinball and 80's arcade games for average price of .25-.50 cents a play. Food and beer available although we didn't try any of those options. A little warm inside but wasn't very crowded. A fun spot to hit while in the area but nothing I'd personally go out of the way for. Affordable out all in all.

So we took our nephews to this place we wanted to do something different and this is definitely something different. The thing I like most about this place is that it feels like you're walking into a time machine literally back into the 80s with some of the older video 80s games even the music is 80s new wave music mixed with a little bit of classic rock but it's all good fun and I love that they have a bar there and we actually had dinner there and the food was decent. It's not great but definitely not bad but well worth it and the people are very nice there. The service is very good, and when you get your tokens, you get a good amount of tokens for most of the games there which require only one token per play except if you're playing pinball that requires three tokens, but nevertheless, we had a fantastic experience. Definitely recommend this to anybody who is looking for something different. My nephews just turned 22 they're twins and they love 80s music and this is the era that I grew up in so jump on the bus and take a short ride from wherever you are locally within radius to this place Barcade it rocks!

Great little place in Highland Park. If there's a full side video game that you played as a kid, I'm sure it's here for you to play and relive your childhood. The menu is full of your typical bar food, wings, burgers, etc. But with flavor. The wings were really good. I'll have to go back and try the burger. Someone in our party had it and enjoyed it. It looked good, too. The service was really good as well. The bartenders were helpful. I'm not much of a beer drinker, and I didn't want a cocktail, so they helped me decide which beer to choose. Great time. Great place. Great atmosphere. I'll be back.

Never left a review in my life but I waited for 10-12 minutes at the empty bar for him to take my order waited till 6

    Is it kid friendly?

Update as of 1/28/25! Barcade will be family friendly from open until 5pm every day in January, and then beginning in February, EVERY SUNDAY will be Family Day from 12p-5p.

Can you rent the whole place for a party?

Yes! Go to Barcade.com and click "Book a Party"- you can submit an inquiry here and the events team will reach out to you with quotes!

Can under 21 can come in and play?

Only during family day on the first Sunday of every month from 12-5p

For a birthday party, can I bring a small cake/plates/forks to the restaurant?

There is a back area with tables which would be convenient for this.

Is there a heated outdoor area?

No however the patio is cozy

What kind of music, if any, do they play?

You can literally see everything they play in real time on their public playlist https://www.last.fm/user/barcadela def not kids pop at all like the other answer said.

Do they ask for proof COVID test OR vaccination still? Some people in party can't take vaccine just…

    Just went yesterday. Nope.

Can we bring board games and just drink and chill?

There are plenty of tables, and even tables outside. If you're there not too late and it's not Friday or weekend, you may be ok. The dim light inside comment is true for night time, but they are wrong about the tables... there are so many it's nuts.

Can you bring outside food and birthday decorations (balloons/party favors)?

No, we don't allow outside food/beverages or decorations. We have a full kitchen, and guests can book party reservations at: Barcade.com/Book-A-Party.

What time is last call for food?

    An hour before closing time.

    Are kids allowed?

On the first Sunday of every month, from 12pm-5pm, they do a family day and allow kids. Other than that, this is a 21+ venue.

    Is there an outdoor patio?

Yes, there's a small area facing the sidewalk and street. Good for watching your bike on the rack if you ride there too.

Is there an air hockey table?

No air hockey. Just pinball machines and classic arcades

Is it all ages for brunch?

No. Once a month they allow individuals under 21. Follow them on Facebook to find out when the next all ages day is.

Today, Alexander was behind the bar, and I did what I always do: "What do you like?" I've been coming to Hippo for years, so I know the menu changes with the seasons. Alexander recommended the sweet corn cappellacci, which immediately reminded me of an old Action Bronson episode on Vice where he raved about it. No lie--it might be the best handmade ravioli I've ever had. The pasta was perfectly made, and the sweet corn filling was incredible. My girlfriend ordered the chicken thighs, which have been a staple here for years. If you're having trouble deciding what to order, you really can't go wrong with them--they're always a home run. I ordered the burger as it comes, but since I'm not a fan of horseradish, it just wasn't for me. My friend also mentioned that she would've liked more cheese on her burger. That doesn't mean it's a bad burger it just wasn't my personal preference. The potato fritters, however, were excellent, and the Bolognese pasta was the standout of the night. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the sauce had great flavor. For dessert, we tried the warm cookie skillet with ice cream. It was good, but it reminded me of a regular Pazookie, nothing that really stood out. Reservations are hard to get, so we arrived early and grabbed seats at the bar. The bartenders were friendly, the service was great, and the drinks were well made. I can't give this place a five star because the burger was disappointing to me. However, I would definitely come back for the service and the rest of the food.

Loved the burger! Probably the best I have had. Definitely would get the potato fritter. garlic bread , scallop crudo, and chicories salad. If you don't know what chicories are ask. (It's not the normal salad) Burger is great. Lasagna Vongole is aa slightly whimsical pasta, rich and delicious. Vegetarian mushroom Bougon is rich very satisfying and they have a wonderful list of red wine that can accompany perfect pairing. The baked Alaskan is thoughtful and unlike the traditional but fantastic

The bartenders are on top of it. The service is great and they're really fast. There's boots and there's high tops and low tops and it's really comfortable seating and it's very dim and cute.

I was planning to have a few beers again but when I saw the prices and played it safe. Had ONE 16oz beer $9.25 and the final price was $11.56! Obviously added charges ( I did leave a tip so it really cost me $13.56) Seriously it's 12 noon on a Tuesday??? I've traveled to many states and also overseas and have paid this much for a TOURIST location. Highland park is not that kind of place where charging this much for a single beer makes sense. Will I come back? Absolutely not I'm reading lots of reviews and seeing proof of this place up charging customers and now I'm telling you the same this place is not worth your hard earned money. IF this place served 20oz pints my review would not have been so concerning. My advice to this business is lower your prices or more people will be opting out of this place. I was planning to bring my wife sometime but on second thought I don't think it's worth it. I can spend this kind of money at a more upscale bar with a coastal view. There was a man sitting at the very end of the bar with his laptop and he acted like he was on something. Kept getting g up and walking behind the bar to grab canned drinks over and over. He must have been an owner/manager? My man, maybe if you stopped drinking your own supply the beer prices would be lower. Try to taste your food the speed you were eating looked like you were about to have a heart attack. Pros; it's a bar that opens at 12 Cons: ridiculously high beer prices

Glassell Park is a hidden neighborhood in Los Angeles, anyway, and if you don't know what you are looking for, you might zip right past W&S, as we did. Parking is hit and miss, but there are side streets and you will find a space if you give yourself an extra 15 minutes before you come. The neighborhood is mysterious to me, sort of pricey grunge & hipster, iykwim. But! Once you are inside, you are in a completely different world. Bright, clean, genteel, muted, with dappled sunlight dripping through various apertures and alighting in a soft glow here and there on shining metal tables. It's beautiful. Some catchy upbeat contempo-pop music streamed steadily at just the right volume overhead. I found myself resisting the temptation to get up and dance. There are several rooms from which to choose, but I wanted to be seated on the wine-red suede banquette that gave me a view of the whole restaurant and out onto the tree-canopied street. From the time we arrived to the moment we left about an hour later, we were showered with warm smiles and attentive service. And the food? Exquisite. See my pictures. It was hard to choose. One tiny disappointment was they were out of the biscuits that I wanted to start with, but I enjoyed the crusty tender Clark Street bread slices served with warm creamery butter instead. It only got better from there. The two bowls we ordered were filled with fresh vegetables, cooked to perfection, topped with an egg prepared as we requested, i.e., over medium. The portions are modest and it was all so good, we didn't take anything home. We ordered coffee and were brought two tall steaming mugs of Americano, smooth, dark, and delicious. Best of all was the Lemon Lavender cake, a seasonal specialty. Honestly, it might be one of the best, moistest, most flavorful and elegant cakes I have ever had. So fantastic, that I just ordered some lavender buds (if I don't collect them from our garden) to replicate it at home. I don't drink much alcohol but if I did, I would head here for one of their experiences or tastings -- they have a formidable list. Check all this out. And hurry if you want to have Lemon Lavender cake.

Everyone also didn't feel particularly welcoming, from the hostess to the waitress (no smiles). Thankfully, we were seated outside for some fresh air, although the warm murky smell still lingered a bit outdoors. The menu seem fairly limited since nothing really stood out to me as especially exciting. I've studied the menu prior before going, and was only looking forward to their burger, but they didn't have it during dinner apparently. While the dishes were descripted very well on the menu, there was no depth in flavors. I'm talking about the pork belly, lamb chops, tartare, Spanish octopus, and especially the seasonal pasta. I'm happy that it wasn't overly salty, but overall the food tasted mediocre and felt a bit basic. I'm only saying this because I could make it myself, at least the lamb, fatty pork belly, and pasta. Portions were also on the small side. Service was a bit slower as it took some time to get seated and receive our food, and one of our dishes was forgotten until we reminded the staff after already finishing most of the meal. On the positive side, we were able to find easy street parking about a block away, and the restaurant itself has a cozy ambiance that would probably be great for a chill dinner with some wine. However, my group left still feeling very hungry and unsatisfied. To be fair, we came in hungry, and the portions and long wait didn't help.
