Whenever my friends r looking for an activity in fishtown, I always recommend barcade! Great selection of beers and bar food, childhood arcade games at a great price. Just remember to bring cash and ID! But even if u forget, you can get cash from the bar for a small fee :) Environment is chill, everyone minds their own business. Probably take an hr or two to hit all the games (depends how good you are) Highly recommend to check out if you're in the area!

Barcade is my favorite place to go for arcade gaming without the pay by the hour business model that every other old fashioned arcade now goes by. I've been to almost all of the locations in NYC, Philadelphia and New Jersey. They're all great and consistent. This location is in an easy to find location near the waterfront. The food is really good just like the other locations. It's all gourmet bar food fare. They have a nice list of local craft beers too. The games selection varies by location. This spot has some of my favorites such as Street Fighter Alpha 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Captain Commando, Lucky & Wild, Crazy Taxi, X-Men, and more.

Service was incredible and they had one of my favorite orange wines. I would love to see Arkanoid and Doom, the original. Maybe even Alex Kidd in miracle world. Also, wouldn't mind a little variety in the music. It's very dude-heavy and not a lot of hip-hop. We would love a little more diversity in the playlist.

This place is such a hit or miss when it comes to vibes. I've been here a handful of times, all in the evening, mostly on weekends but this particular time was a weekday. The chicken nachos were great but the pepper dog was not it AT ALL, I couldn't even eat it because jt tasted raw. The drinks were just okay, but the staff was super nice and arcade games are always a good time. It's definitely more casual than not.

I wanted to get out of our usual go-to areas of Old City, South Street, or E Passyunk. My partner in crime found Barcade in the Fishtown area. So one rainy Saturday we schleped up there. What a great find! 1st it's as if Paddy's Pub & Gameworks had a baby named Barcade!. Industrial loft vibe, tons of old school arcade games and rows of picnic tables. They had me a Bloody Mary. By far the best I had in Philly. Street tacos were tasty too. Deviled eggs Just like I used to make. The staff was really nice, bartenders accommodating. And the best part - I'm still a pinball queen - not quite a wizard - but got the high score on Willy Wonka. BAM! Such a fun place. Definitely want to come back. But is it Chubby Chick friendly?? Absolutely. Ample space for my 6'8" partner in crime and for my big bum. 4 Double chins! And 5 stars!

Service is outstanding, food is delicious, reasonable prices. We'll definitely be back!

I absolutely loved this place. I loved it so much I want to plan a trip back to Philly just so I have an entire day there. The games were super fun and nostalgic, beer was great and the food was really good too. I just loved everything about it

    Ask the Community - Barcade

    Is this business kid friendly?

Can children go in a Barcade? Everyone must be 21 and over with valid identification except during designated Family Days.

    What's the best parking options?

Off the record, but the Sugar House'Rivers casino has free parking and is a short walk away (mind the weather, of course). The casino had a deal with the Fillmore for parking so I don't think they overly scrutinize the cars in the lot

How quick is the food service here?

Every time I've ordered the food has been served very fast. I usually order their tacos when I go.

Is there a working photobooth here? Thanks!

Not as of my last visit a couple of months ago.

Cristina Martinez's lamb barbacoa and handmade heirloom corn tortillas are featured on at least 3 Netflix shows. It's a restaurant that we couldn't pass up, and it totally lives up to the hype. First of all, it's cash only. There's an ATM machine conveniently located inside the restaurant. The ordering process was easy. We were greeted immediately and handed a menu. The service here is fantastic! The staff greet you with smiles and warm welcomes. There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We were there at an off peak time so there were no issues finding a table. My husband ordered the 3 taco deal. He chose steak as the protein. I had 2 individual tacos so that I could try the barbacoa and cochinita pibil. We also split the guacamole with handmade chips. It came with 2 tasty hot sauces. I could definitely taste the jalapeño in the green sauce. My husband loved all the spicy toppings and sauces. It was exactly as we thought it would be in terms of flavor. Especially the cochinita pibil which is something we had previously in the Yucatan. Everything was so clean and fresh tasting. The technique in making the barbacoa truly brings out the full flavor of the lamb. The value was there considering the amount of protein in each taco. The toppings were all fresh and delicious. The nopales (cactus) was a new topping for me. I had a few on the side to try it. It was a nice addition to the barbacoa. I can't forget to include the mango agua fresca and complimentary cake in this review. The aqua fresca was the best I've ever had. The mango was all natural. I didn't detect any artificial flavors. I believe the cake was apple cinnamon. They make different ones daily or seasonally. It was the perfect ending, and not too sweet. Don't miss this gem in South Philly. It's on 9th Street and just south of the Italian Market area. It was totally worth a special trip. I'm so glad we got to experience it for ourselves.

The bar has a fantastic variety of tangy, spicy, bright toppings and salsas to make your taco your own. My favorite is always the reddish orange salsa and this one tastes just like the taco places back in Texas. The tacos are hefty, so that makes up for the slightly higher than average price. They didn't have jamaica when I went so they subbed in mango juice and it was incredible, my new go-to. Service is friendly, fast and there's plenty of seating and a nice outdoor space.

The meat in the tacos was so dry that it was hard to chew and swallow. Some of the pieces were cooked to a crisp. No amount of salsa could make them better. I'm sorry I didn't take photos of the tacos, but trust me me I get no pleasure from leaving a bad review for this place; I am not lying or exaggerating. I thought they were going to be one of our local gems. I choked down a half a taco, gave the rest to my husband and he couldn't eat them either. The churros actually had raw batter in the middle and the outside was rubbery and hard at the same time. You could barely bite through it. I'm a cook and I know that that is about keeping the oil at an even temperature to get the inside done and not overcook the outside. Someone in the kitchen did not know what they were doing. The thing is, I have had their food before and it was pretty good. I don't know if there is a new chef or what happened, but I can't trust them after this experience.

They have a great Taco Tuesday deal with $1 tacos, offering carnitas and chicken tacos as part of the special. The carnitas tacos were seasoned perfectly -- 8/10. The only thing that would elevate them even more would be adding pico. The chicken tacos were a 4/10 unfortunately. They lacked flavor and tasted like plain boiled chicken placed on a tortilla, which was disappointing. We also ordered the Tres Salsa and chips. Out of the three salsas, the green and red were the standouts and packed the most flavor. For drinks, we ordered margaritas on the rocks ($5, plus $2 additional for flavor). I tried mango and passion fruit -- the mango tasted more like orange juice, while the passion fruit maintained its flavor much better. If you're looking for a family-friendly indoor/outdoor spot, this is a great option. I noticed a good mix of couples and singles, which made for a nice atmosphere.
