The large plate (half size) fed 2 people so definitely worth every penny. The arancini and skirt steak were a let down but the sauce accompanied with them were flavorful. We came here for my birthday and it was very conveniently located, it's in a little center so the outside is really pretty. There's a huge parking lot which was super easy. Going in the place is trendy with an open kitchen concept behind the bar. We were seated towards the back which I was thankful for because with babies it can get awkward sitting in the middle of a restaurant trying to soothe your whiny children. Our waitress and busboys were friendly and patient. We all started off with a couple of glasses of wine and the guns and rosés sangria carafe. For tapas we had the Beef Empanadas which were only ok, the Hanger Steak, Patatas Bravas which were a favorite and I recommend everyone tries, grilled okra (was surprised how much I loved this simple dish), house marinated olives (must have), charred pulpo (so yummy!), jamón & manchego croquettes (fantastic, the baby loved it), chorizo w/ sweet & sour figs (my husband loved this and he's not an adventurous eater) and the grilled leeks (needed to be cooked a bit more in my opinion). I went to Barcelona in Norwalk Thursday night with my family and my kid, We have been here and the Stamford location multiple times, the ambiance it's great, and the food was great as always, the bussgirl Nora and runner were really nice, but our server Javier didn't help for us to have a great experience as we usually do, I asked him to please let me know what the kids menu was and he said we only have chicken fingers and fries, I said my kid has had the pasta here and he said yes we have pasta with butter, I said can I get the pasta with the marinara, he said we don't have that here we're not an Italian restaurant with an attitude, which I find very rude and unnecessary to say, first of all as I told him you don't need to be an Italian restaurant to have pasta with Marinara sauce for kids secondly mi son has had the pasta with meatballs and marinara multiple times at Barcelona, I wish that rude comment was never made, other than that everything was good. read more

We had Mother's Day reservations and after almost 2 hours all we were served were drinks and hummus. Over the course of our meal runners left our drinks and appetizers on other tables requiring other guests to pass them to us. The restaurant seems very disorganized and not well managed. We probably will never return because after two hours and $150 with tip all we got was a drink and hummus (my children did receive their microwaved pancakes and meatballs) my wife and I did not receive any of the tappas Probably could be a great destination. I've been a long time customer of Barcelona since the very beginning. I go at least once a month usually to Stamford and sometimes norwalk. I noticed that the menus seem to have changed a bit the last time I went. The chickpeas and spinach seem to be more like a spread and it had more of a lemon zest flavor which was nice but not as good as the original. We ordered the meat platter for two which I have ordered at least a hundred times and it was good but not spectacular like it usually is. The pork was undercooked which I sent back and when it came back to the table it was still undercooked although after letting it sit for 15 minutes it seemed to cook through better but I did not want to eat it and take any chances. The half chicken also seem to be slightly undercooked where the skin was not crispy but the chicken itself was cooked through. But the rubbery skin had to be removed. This is the only time that I was less than satisfied so it could just be a fluke and of course I will be back and I will update my review assuming things improve. read more

Barcelona is a great series of chain restaurants that is typically very reliable and consistent. I was disappointed the other night when I ordered the steak tapas dish "medium" and it definitely was on the rare side. When I asked for another very politely, the waiter seemed annoyed and then I could hear the cook and him discussing it in the back. What returned was a grey piece of charred, well done steak. I addressed this again with the waiter and he apologized but when the bill came, it was still there. Not that I wanted a free dish, but it just seems like common courtesy to do something in response to this. They get 3 stars and the opportunity to make it right over time, but this was super disappointing from a restaurant that I go to often. read more

A beautiful interior, exceptional service and a feeling of welcomeness from the moment you walk in until you leave. The vibe in here is really upbeat. Loudish music plays in the background while diners raise their voices to get a conversation going. Decor is rustic (and awesome). Saturday night. We had reservations... But when we got there, there were 8 to 10 parties waiting in a very small space to be seated. After waiting a half an hour, super close & bumping into other people which is not recommended in these Covid times, decided to go to a nearby restaurant instead. We have a gift card to this restaurant, so we will return, but only during off-peak hours. The food is good, from the one time I was able to go, but not exceptional. The experience is festive and fun so I do understand the popularity of this place. The staff for the most part is always so welcoming and warm especially Nadia who is always the first one to greet us when we arrive just wish we had the option as having her as our server as my wife and kids love her!! This place delivers every time I get food from here, whether dine-in or take-out. The roasted shishito peppers are a personal favorite, and the charred carrots are an unexpectedly delicious dish! The albóndigas have a lot of flavor, and the charred pulpo is one of my favorite things here with it's rich, creamy almond purée. I had a really good experience working with the staff here for a work event for about 20 people. They were very helpful throughout the entire process and there was definitely no shortage of food. We got to try lots of different things, I really liked the meat/cheese board as well as the shishito peppers. The chorizo and figs dish was also delicious. Paella is always a big hit too! Personally, the paella was a bit too fishy for me, but they also have a veggie paella option if you feel the same way. Overall, great quality food and super friendly staff! read more

Amazing evening at BWB Waypointe. Greeted by Charlie, who greeted us with his amazing and friendly smile. Immediately seated and greeted by Jake, our server for the evening. Brooke and Brandon also came over to say hello and Liam, the bartender, came over to say hi too. I brought someone new with me and I was excited bc I usually go to BWB Stamford. Tonight's meal was delicious. The chef brought out a few tapas himself and assured me that each dish was vegan. For the record- I HATE mushrooms. And I ate half the dish! They were spectacular. The mahi mahi was apparently delicious, the eggplant was a favorite, the humus was yummy and the tomato salad was awesome. We had cauliflower and zucchini which were both great too. Barcelona was my staple restaurant. My anniversaries, gatherings would all happen in this location. Prior to Covid the Norwalk location started to go down. I gave it a shot again after Covid a couple times and even tried the stamford location. I cannot hype it up anymore. This last time was the worst experience. Usually the service is good but this time sadly it was both the food and service. It was NYE and our waiter came up to us without introducing himself and wanted our drink order. We ordered wine. When he came back to check on us we ordered food. After that, I can't tell you one time the waiter came up to us unless waved down. Our tapas came out before our drinks. Which I understood it does happen. Unfortunately though the mussels came out gummy....wish I could've told the waiter about because I always finish them, but he was no where to be seen. Steak was overcooked and ridiculously salted to cover flavor. Finally drinks came out, not by our server. And we had to ask our food runner for bread. We weren't checked on, and I knew it wouldn't make last call at this point. I'm glad I ended up asking literally anyone but our waiter and put in one more drink. We literally wanted to throw our money away and continue order more and more drinks but we were just never got checked on. Huge miss for them. No "how is everything." So disappointing. Still continued to tip well 22% I just wish we picked another place for a holiday. Just in general, sad to say goodbye to one of my gems. read more

Always love barcelona and have been to one in west hartford and new haven a few times. Was in the Norwalk area so decided to try. Food was overall great but service was disappointing. I understand with covid it is an adjustment but a bit more attentiveness and courtesy would help immensely especially as we all try to be in some kind of normal. Barcelona is a strong brand in Fairfield County, because the food is quality. They make good food. That's why it deserves four stars. My go-to tapas are patatas bravas, the benchmark for all others. If you screw this up, the rest of your menu mustn't be good. Fried potatoes with a mayo and ketchup (basically, hopefully they make those condiments fresh). Always a good empanada or albondigas. The best item on the menu here at Barcelona, was one of the soft cheeses with bread they have, though I have to go back to remember which one. They also had a cauliflower dish that was decent, though because of slight lack of flavor, I wasn't impressed. I also had the hangar steak, as mentioned above (you thought I forgot about that)--whenever truffle oil is used in food, it ruins it for me, no matter how subtle. I am just not a fan. It's become generic, ubiquitous, trendy. Anyway, a solid place if you don't mind paying $11 for tapas steak. Wow, this seems like more of a bad review than good? I'm advocating you go and try, because there is always something for everyone. 2/3 tapas per person should do the trick. Just make sure to get a cheese. And share! read more

Barcelona reminds me of the classic mindless corporate endeavor. Nothing I experienced or tasted was above average and some was poor. House marinated olives were nothing special. The lemon hummus was average but the fried pita bread was so overcooked I feared I would damage my teeth trying to chew them. The escargot were served barely warm with an unpleasant sauce that had a film on top suggesting that it had been pre-made and not properly warmed. The grilled Berkshire Pork collar had a tasty onion sauce but the Pork was basically tough grizzle. As I am writing this I am wondering why I gave it 2 stars. Had all the new locations popping up both locally & nationally ruined the real deal? Cookbook too? Anyway, my hiatus has officially ended & happy to report that something's have changed but my over all exsperiance was a pleasure. We enjoyed a variety of tapas/ small plates. Standouts were: grilled calamari w shaved caramelized garlic w chili oil & parsley - perfectly grilled, tender, very flavorful. A Spanish Goat & sheep's milk cheese was soft & creamy like a Brie served w tart green apple but the real treat were ther figs soaked in brandy- delicious. My friend enjoyed a beautiful Rioja from Spain & I had a Vogner. Both were perfect. The interior is nicely done. Great sense of space, variety of textures/elements, low lighting. Restroom is modern, clean but a bit dark. Our bartender was friendly, knowledgable regarding both wines & the menu & offered suggestions based on our leanings. Things that were off putting: The rest of the bar staff was a bit "green" & uncultured. Our cheese was "microwaved" (gasp!) making it eventually harden defeating the original point & making it unspreadable. Parking can be a real hassle in SoNo. read more

My friends and I are huge fans of barcelona and we were SEVERELY disappointed after tonight. we've had a reservation for over a week and were told we had to wait 50 minutes for a table which we didn't get for 1 hour, but at that point we started eating at the [very packed] bar area because we were so hungry. I have loved this restaurant for a long time - from the previous location I used to visit in Greenwich VERY often and now this one in Waypointe. My husband & I decided to go last weekend when it was very nice out & have dinner outside. When I called to reserve a table and they were going to be fairly busy for the time we wanted, the hostess went above and beyond to find a good time to insure we could be seated outdoors. We have visited this location several times before, but our experience this time was by far the best ever. The food was spectacular, especially the baked oysters, the shrimp ajillo, pulpo & squid ink arancini. We have always loved Barcelona. The new space is laid out so nicely with a beautiful bar, showcasing all of the fresh ingredients as well as being able to watch the chefs in action. Aside from looks the food is ALWAYS incredible. Some favorites: hangar steak with truffle sauce, grilled octopus (pulpo), jamon and manchego croquettes, and the dulce de leche crepes for dessert are to DIE for! My husband and I tend to go on Friday nights and sit at the bar where Mariana always takes great care of us :) BJ, one of the managers is always so sweet and attentive and always makes sure to come say hi. I have to say our best experience (which prompted me to write this review) was this past March 24, 2018. I planned a birthday dinner for my husband here and they handled everything from A to Z. I brought a cake to them earlier in the afternoon and they stored it in their fridge and brought it out with candles and sang with all of us. There were 25 of us all ordering off the regular menu which we knew would be a little challenging but they handled it with grace and control and everyone was super happy! We order 2 glasses of wine, the spinach chickpeas tapas along with the sashito peppers and Brussel sprouts to start, right off the bat. Was starving. It's was 6:40 and we had an 8pm show to get to right around the corner. 5 mins later When the wine was delivered we ordered the chorizo and shrimp share plates at a per person charge as a main course.... 5 mins later our neighbors sat down and perused the menu. 5 mins later they placed their order for drinks and food. 5 mins later their drinks arrived. 5 mins later one of their tapas came out.....then another one 2 mins later. Then 5 mins after all of their food came out and we were almost done with our wine. I assumed the tickets were swapped. ROUGHLY 7:15 they ask to take our finished bread plates away and I ordered two more glasses of wine assuming it would be served with our dinner. Our wine arrived in one minute. I flagged our waiter down .... I pointed to the almost all empty plates of our neighbors and gave him a minute to figure It out..... All apologies and confusion. Please cancel the tapas order just serve us dinner ASAP I asked nicely. He obliged. 5 mins later our dinner arrived. Actually it was someone else's dinner but we ate it. It was Calamari and Chorizo... not shrimp. Served over toasted pasta..... I was starving. We ate it. It wasn't even good. It tasted like something a 13 year old threw together in the oven. Little pieces of spaghetti and super salty chorizo with frozen squid. Mostly stuck to the pan burnt. The burnt parts were the best. I told him to charge us for we got that we ordered..... but I would accept an apology round of drinks. Bill was $21. I gave him $40. He's gonna need the money.
