I love my new salon and my daughter goes there too! They are all very welcoming and customer service is top notch. What I want to address is Mary-Michael's talent w cut and especially color. I saw Ariana for the first time at Barclays and it was such an enjoyable appointment. She was punctual and very detail oriented. I had about 6 months of grow out and she got to it with a heavy foil to help blend me. I appreciate how quick I was able to make an appointment and booked with her because of her other great reviews. I'm all for addressing dissatisfaction at time the of service.. which I made it very clear this was unacceptable especially for $300 with tip.. they were "double booked" and weren't sure when they'd be able to squeeze me in. I had a cut today with Ariana. This was my first time in. My hair was a mess. Layers grown out weird, shaggy, no real style. Ariana really listened to me, made suggestions and we came up with a plan. First time today. Saw Leslie and she is my new BFF! My daughter recommended Barclays and I was not disappointed. No 'young adult' hype advertising. Don't meant to say it's for 'elders only'. It's not!! It was just nice to walk in and the atmosphere was so calm and relaxed. No airs put on. You're there to get your hair taken care of and that's what they give. In addition to excellent conversation, wonderful atmosphere, nice line of products for sale, and friendliness I haven't experienced in quite a while. Felt like I may have found my new hair home Leslie was awesome. She listened to what I needed and delivered it 100%. Loved how my hair came out and had a pleasant hour while I was there. I rarely write reviews. I've visited this neighborhood salon twice and both experiences were great. However, this time was FANTASTIC. I've lived all over the country, including NY for a long time, and this was on the same level. I had the best hair color and cut in years. Ariana was amazing. Super honest and didn't push product/services. The color turned out amazing and not at all brassy, blended well, and the cut is so cute. Ariana actually listened, took her time and made sure everything was perfect before I left. Plus, she provided such a nice and long neck and head massage - went above and beyond. Everyone else was super hospitable and the vibe was relaxed. HIGHLY recommended. I'm telling all my friends about this place and I will, of course be back for their fabulous services :) read more

not going back there.....! mary michael colored my hair maroon after i wanted an auburn color! when i went back to have them fix it i was there for 2 hours and they were having a trainee do my hair!! she didn't even know which shampoo to use and they had to show her ?? i finnally left with a wet head and no cut or style and they still wanted 100. dollars....for nothing !!!!!! it was 82 for a color and then she added another 16 for the mix put on my head...the color itself?? it should be included with the 82.00? i even told them i had an interview to go to and i didn't get out of the chair...with a wet and unstyled hair....for 2 hours which only gave me an hour to get home change, dry my unstyled hair and get to the interview!!! sheryl is not a good reseptionist at all! rude, rude, and very unfriendly!! read more

I think I have found my new salon! Being a new mom, I have struggled with finding time for myself to go do self care things. I had a weekday opportunity where I was finally childless, so I decided to request an appointment at Barclay's using their online appointment request. The process was super convenient, fast and easy, and I didn't have to bother calling the salon at all, they were able to confirm and remind me of my appointment via email/text. So much more convenient for a busy full time workin' mama! Now to the salon itself - This is a very cozy salon and the stylists all do their awesome hair creations in a communal type area. If you are used to a sprawling salon with lots of walls and empty space, this is not what you will find here. If you are looking for a true small shop salon experience with friendly stylists that feels like an actual community, this is the place! I loved the atmosphere and all of the stylists, including Brianna, were extremely cool and friendly! I saw each customer with a smile on their faces. Brianna was relatively new to her trade, but she did an absolutely excellent job at listening to what I needed for my crazy lion's mane of fine textured long thick hair. She was not overly opinionated about what she thought would be best, and I walked away with an excellent cut to my exact specifications, and silky smooth hair. On my way out, she gave me some coupons and a sample of cleansing conditioner to try. I love the extra touches! Top notch customer service, and I think I can safely say you have a return client in me! I cannot recommend them enough. I have had my hair colored, cut, and styled by Mary Michael for the last couple of years. I have gone from various salon businesses and found Barclay's to be the place to be!! The staff is always kind and caring to work with, no matter who it is. Upon arrival I am always greeted with smiles and offered frequently if I would like any coffee, tea, or water. They know how to treat their clientele well. :) Over the years Mary Michael has worked with me when I had long hair and now short hair. She is always upfront and honest with me, if something may not work out she makes sure I know what to expect. The reception staff also makes sure I understand costs for what I'd be charged and it is all within a reasonable price! In my opinion they never over charge which is a huge plus considering over gone to places where coloring my hair, one color all over, cost upwards of $400...just for Color! No including a cut, shampoo, and style. The facility appears on the small side from outside, but when you get in it surprises you with hidden gems. The location is well kept, cleaned, and organized which is saying a lot considering how much hair goes in and out of that place. All in all if you're looking for a wonderful salon that wont charge an arm and a leg, treats you with respect, takes care of you well, and is upfront and honest with you on all aspects...Barclay's is the place for you!! And honestly...why would anyone settle for less? P.s. if you want a real treat, schedule with Mary Michael and she will give you the best head message you've ever had. read more

I had the worst salon experience of my life last week at this salon. My regular stylist was out so the owner did my cut. He barely asked me any questions, poked me in the face twice and dropped the straightener in my lap. The layering he did is just horrendous. I will have to go to another salon to get it fixed: uneven, ragged layering and almost a mullet. Besides this, he was negatively complaining the whole time about how hard it is to keep the business going. Then he charged me 10.00 over the regular price with the other stylist. I am from Florida, so i don't have a favorite hair salon. I thought i would give this one a try, i knew it wasn't cheap. But It was for an important event so i went for it. The people are rude. there is not much more to describe them. I went for a regular blow drying, and then flat iron. when i got there, i thought i would get my nail polish removed and possibly a clear polish. Didn't want them to do anything more. so i asked how much, hoping they said 5 or something. They told me i would have to pay for a regular manicure..... right there is when i should've left. But i didn't. The lady called me in, and started with my hair. An hour later. she left it puffy and wavy. it was horrible. then she said she didn't have time to do a flat iron. (Which she needed to do in order to fix her mess)... because she had another appointment. i told her do what you can. But seriously. never ever going back there. I don't remember how much they charged me, it was around 50 to 60 dollars, for something i could have done better myself. I paid, and left. stopped at Walgreens and bought nail polish remover. Once i got home, my puffy hair was worse than how i went into the salon, and i had to flat iron it myself. Worst. Experience. Ever. Good thing i found a better hair salon, the women are nice, and welcoming. They did my hair, and charged me 25. I was thrilled with the results, i left a nice tip. now, whenever i am in Everett, i go to the better hair salon, and avoid, at all cost, the Barclays. read more

It was a good haircut and color. My wife liked it but, My problem lies with the 48 dollar overcharge I have yet to see returned. Bad enough to pay 204 for a haircut but to get my receipt and my bank to match up was a laugh. I was overcharged 48 dollars. So she had a 252 dollar haircut. My wife was promised 5 days ago this would be corrected so I was extremely nice about. Well that was 5 days ago and have yet to see my money so I recommend you take your money elsewhere. My wife will definitely not be returning. read more

Company Christmas party last night. Rain/wind. Homegirl needed her hair done to withstand the elements. My usual salon was having an open house, so no go there. Called a few other salons, also booked - I was in luck with Barclay's; they fit me in at 3pm for a style. Julia was my stylist - she was super nice and very competent. I didn't go in needing anything fancy, just my shoulder-length straight hair curled. I would do it myself but I can never get the back of my hair curled. Style set me back $22, which was the "associate" price. Not bad, though at my usual salon a wash and style is about the same price. Good place to go in a pinch, but I'll still be loyal to my regular salon/stylist. read more

I normally go here for my balayage. And normally I am happy. I showed them a picture of what I wanted (which was a lighter balayage then what I had) and was told it was possible. 6 hours later (not kidding) I left wth the same color I already had and a trim. Also Ryan was complaining half the time because his other client was there and he hadnt finished. Saying things like "it was a good day" he was a cool guy until then. When my hair was finished I was surprised to see practically no change at all. This cost me almost $300. I've never paid that much for a balayage there. The most I've paid was close to 200. Anyways, not very happy at all. I am disappointed because I actually used to like going there before. read more

I had a terrible haircut at a different salon and I was devastated. I had a family reunion to go to and I didn't know what to do. I stopped by Barclays to see if they could do anything to fix my hair. At first they said they had no openings but the owner Ryan Barclay overheard my situation and said he would try to fix my hair. The owner's son who is the manager gave me a horrible haircut! It wasn't at all what we discussed, he admitted it was much shorter than what we talked about, then he cuts himself. The bandage wouldn't stay on and he got angrier and angrier. He became flustered and told me my hair would grow back. I've been wearing hats for a week since I left the salon. I called to see if they would give me a refund or a gift card to another salon and the owner told me to grow up! I am contacting the better business bureau. I've been going to Barclays Hair Design for ~11 years now for hair coloring and cuts. The salon is very neat and clean and the stylists do amazing work. They have a large variety of hair products for sale as well and the prices are competitive with comparable products at other stores. This place is phenomenal. I was way overdue for a cut and color. My previously bleached blonde had at least 6 in of grow out. Upon entering the young lady who.greated me was so kind and sweet. My apt was with Kandie who I've seen before and is the only person I let touch my hair. I had no clue what colors I was interested in. But she was so patient and helped me find a more manageable color for my wallet. Something that won't look bad if I cant come back right away. While I was getting cut the manager I believe came over and he was so kind and helpful. Giving her some sweet tips on my cut and how to make it lay different to acheve the look she was going for. She learned a cool trick and I walked away with what I think is the most flattering cut and color I've ever had. She's always done an exceptional job. She just keeps getting better and better. Another gentleman came over and was so cool and super funny. On my way out a lady getting her hair cut stopped to look at my hair and just loved it. Thank you Ryan for your response! I will say that I highly recommend Raychelle for adolescent/teenagers. She had the best personality and engaged my shy daughter by showing interest in her. It wasn't fake, I felt she could really relate and was just trying to make her feel comfortable. She also gave her a GREAT haircut! I also like Theresa because she is gentle, friendly, and down to earth--doesn't try to upsell me on things I don't need, which I sometimes find really annoying at other salons and the reason I don't go back. (If I go in for a haircut and didn't ask at all about highlights, I don't want the stylist to keep suggesting that she can do great highlights and even do a sample on cut ends---I don't want to have to keep saying I'm not interested.) I showed five different pictures to my hairstylist I let her pick out of the five which one she thought she could do for me out of that five she picked this picture below after she had done my hair and blow dried it I told her I was unhappy with it and pointed out the reasons why I was unhappy she said that she understood the reasons why I was unhappy and would reschedule me a free appointment to fix the mistakes on Thursday, May 12 two days before my appointment to fix the mistakes that were done the first time I was told that my stylist did not feel comfortable doing my hair and that she does not feel that she did a bad Job and that nobody in the salon would be willing to do my hair I paid almost $300 while I was there to be told that I would have to pay for additional services if I wanted it fixed when it was discussed that she would fix it for me for free the manager said that no one would be willing to fix my hair or able unless I wanted to pay additional costs and that they would not fix my hair or refund any of my money I would never recommend this to any of Friends or family!!! read more
