I just went and got my hair cut at Barclay's by Mary-Michael - she was great! I didn't come in with a picture, but I described to her how my hair texture is when I blow dry and how my hair texture is when I use product and let it air dry, I told her I was wanting to grow it out, but I really needed a trim and reshape and she nailed it. It looks gorgeous, she listened to what I wanted, and she was super fast. The atmosphere was great. There's a coat rack for you to use at the front door, and they have lots of great products available in the front. There was upbeat music, but it wasn't too loud, and they gave me lots of coupons on my way out for use at my next service. I have never found a place that I liked sufficiently enough to make my 'regular' but Barclays and Mary-Michael have earned the spot! read more

I went here a year ago and got my hair cut by Alex who did an amazing job and I absolutely loved it!!! However, I'm an ex Cosmetologist and as my hair grew out, I trimmed the layers a few months after and decided to just grown it out and schedule to have it all re-cut and layered and foiled since my scalp breaks out from ppd and ammonia in hair color. I made that appointment for today along with my mother to get a mani and a pedi for her birthday and I made these appointments back in December and we both requested the day off from work to get these services done. When we got there, the receptionist told us that they fired their nail tech and would see what they could do and in the end, no one there could give my mother what I had originally hoped to get her and I wasn't going to let my mother go home so I could get my hair done since this was a day planned for her bday present as a mother daughter day. The best part was when I asked the receptionist why they didn't contact the scheduled clients to inform them of this change to accommodate them and her response was "When we let her go her schedule fell out of our system and most of her clients were family members anyways." That is just terrible business especially since you promote Day Spa and your website has nail services!!! If I had been informed that they no longer had a damn nail tech I would've moved my hair appointment and been fine canceling my mothers nail appointment and scheduling elsewhere, but instead, because it was frustrating and I had scheduled my entire day around this, we left!!! There was a gentleman in the entryway talking to an elderly woman and I'm pretty sure he was the owner and as we were walking out, his remark was "Leaving already?" I said "Yep" I have never done a review on yelp except for today and so it shows how irritated I was about this, but if anything, if you do go here, ask for Alex!!! Go here if you want to get poor customer service and charged more than expected. They advertise a cut and color for $50.00 but watch out, it seems like a good deal until they add addition charges for additional color. Also add additional charges if you "hair is too thick"?? I don't know what that means, but apparently it means they can add another charge. They are very rude and make you feel uncomfortable the entire time you are there. Avoid at all costs!!!! read more

I'm only giving one star because you can't write a review with out it! Went in to get info on a hair color I wanted showed Mary Michael what I was looking to have done she said she could do it I payed about $500 dollars to have my hair screwed up I wanted silver highlights and ended up with orange highlights instead! Defiantly do NOT recommend this place spend your hard earned money else where! The stylist at this salon work on commission so more you have to return the more of your money ends up in their pocket! A couple years back finally decided to change up my hair. Finally found a picture I wanted my hair to look like (granted yes I know it WONT be exactly the same) they had the cut and color deal for 50$ going on. Lady said she could give me that deal and then whatever more it would cost for the highlights I wanted. 3 hrs later I left extremely PISSED OFF!! This lady had no idea what she was doing. I wanted blended highlights and specifically told her "do not give me streaks" I ended up getting an underneath color of dark black brown which I did NOT ask for nor coincided with my pictures and huge fat skunk streaks. And I ended up leaving paying damn near 200$. The girl was a young girl who's name I don't remember. When giving me my "streaks" she left the product on my hair for way to long that my scalp was on fire and had to have someone else rush to get the product out. Was just an over all HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience!!! I don't understand how 50$ and some highlights gets to 200$!!! If you want good service SCREW THIS PLACE!!! It's a joke! read more

I had a horrible experience here. Beware. I had an appointment scheduled for 6:30 pm with Robyn and she didn't get me in the chair until almost 8:00. She had 2 other clients there at 6:30 as well she was working on and was back and forth between us. I was annoyed but okay with going late because I just wanted it done. I wanted a balayage with violet highlights. Because we were going so late, the salon owner, Ryan, came in to close and he complained out loud over and over about how he had to get his kid to sleep. The stylist became very stressed and I felt like she rushed things and didn't do everything she said she was going to do. How is this my problem when I had an appointment at 6:30. I was not told that they couldn't do what I wanted or offered to finish on a later date. I probably wouldn't have wanted that anyway because I just wanted it done. While I was there, there was another stylist who didn't have any clients. Why couldn't she work on one of us? I finally got done at 11:00 pm! It looked okay when I left but wasn't exactly what I wanted. The stylist wanted to sell me product which I was willing to consider and wanted to setup follow up appointments which I was willing to do at that point. The next day, I was got really upset because my hair that was supposed to have violet highlights, now looked like it had orange patches instead. Then the clincher in all this is I was charged $253 for this balayage that turned out horrible. I waited a couple of days for the stylist to call. She never did. I contacted them 3 times with no return call. I debated on going in person to demand that something be done to fix it. But, honestly, if they aren't willing to contact me when I was being nice voicing my concerns and willing for them to fix it at that point. Why would I want them to continue to do stuff that would potentially really screw up my hair. I have mentioned my experience to everyone that asks about it and they are shocked I was treated this way. And others have mentioned their bad experiences with the same salon. Too bad I didn't hear about those earlier. And not once was I told how expensive this would be. I expected to pay about $125-150 and instead, was charged $253. And now I'm going to have to find someone to fix this or deal with my orange hair. read more

Salon offers special pricing deal but then charges more at the check out time without telling you. Had a botched color job. Every color stylist can make a mistake but the manager refused to refund and was rude about it too. I was at another store after the visit and met two other people who stopped going there because the owner was so rude to one of them, and the other was charged more than the price quote she got too. Don't waste your time or money here. They act very friendly and oh so professional while they are just ripping you off. read more

The owner foiled my hair and there were messed up parts (literally spots) all over my hair.I went to another stylist for a cut (she doesn't color..Gene Juarez) and she was shocked by how bad the color was. My hair looks so bad it is embarressing! So after talking to several professionals I decide to go show Ryan what he did and request a refund. He is lucky I am only asking for a refund because the corrective color I need isn't going to be cheap, he would have been wise to give me a refund, it would have cost him less money. Ryan offered to "fix it" but I declined. Seriously?! If you mess it up this bad and now my hair is fragile you think I'm going to give you another shot at it?! No thanks! If he couldn't do a good job the first time why would I think he could fix his mistakes which is far more complicated. He then basically tells me he doesn't give refunds and says, "have a nice life". Wow! Not only is he an awful hairstylist but he is a rotten manager, and business owner as well! Sadly I didn't read the reviews prior to going there but if you read the reviews, refusing to fix their errors or give refunds is a common theme here. Ryan's parents were great stylists and business owners (especially his mother) and they built this business. Sadly, Ryan in my opinion lacks integrity as well as the skills to be a good stylist. How would I know? I too grew up in the industry and have been a licensed stylist for over 20 years. I also owned a successful salon for several years prior to retiring from the industry. Worst bleaching of my life. I went to get my hair professionally done and expected the stylist to know what she was doing. She let the bleach sit in my hair for about an hour and a half, and then took her time blow drying it. She proceeded to put a toner in that turned my hair a steely blue-green, which I did not ask for. I am not allowed to have un-natural hair colors at work, and I had mentioned that to her while she was bleaching my hair. Not only did that happen, but I discovered blisters on my scalp from how long the bleach was on my hair. The environment is very claustrophobic and very narcissistic. The stylist was great to talk to and very personable, but she botched my hair. She failed to mention the pricing to me when she started, and since she took her time bleaching, toning, and unnecessarily blow-drying and straightening my hair, I was out $200. That for me is a whole weeks pay, for three hours of ridiculous bleaching. I understand my hair is thicker, but I have shorter/medium length hair, and it should have taken a maximum of 1-1&1/2 hours. The toner dulled the level of bleach that I wanted to be at, and my hair is now turning green. I can't do anything to correct it because of the fragile state my hair and scalp are in, so the most I can do is wash it every other day and hope the color fades so I do not get in trouble with corporate at work. I do not recommend you go to this salon, even though the stylists are very personable. You will walk out extremely unsatisfied and disliking the results. They are also not open on a Sunday or Monday, so if anything happens to your hair that you don't notice until Sunday or late Saturday night, then you're screwed. I am never going back, except to get my refund. read more
