Food quality has continued to decline over the years and they can't compete any longer. After being under quarantine for months, we decided to go out for lunch because Bardenay has an outdoor seating area (less chance of contacting the virus). We made reservations. The restaurant called and confirmed our reservations that morning for 1 PM seating for 3 on the patio. When we arrived, the hostess informed us that our reservation was for inside and there was no seating available on the patio. The hostess and her compatriot we very rude and offered NO solution to their obvious error. Our server was very good, congenial, and efficient and our food was very good and well prepared. However, the manager needs to be paying attention to what is going on at their front door. This isn't my first bad experience with Bardenay, and, in the future, I will avoid going there. read more

I really wanted this place to succeed. They just failed at a-lot of little things that in the end made them fail. I liked this place. the building itself is gorgeous! the outside looks like a fancy aspen hotel and the inside is like a beautiful cabin. it's right on the river. they did a good job with the whole place....that's kinda where I stop loving it. I don't like "seat yourself" restaurants. it makes it feel less formal. and I don't like the tables and chairs they chose- they cheapen the whole place. they should have picked like those nice heavy wood tables- it feels like it's outdoor furniture inside. the chairs are super uncomfortable. they are missing the mark here for sure. it's just a bunch of tables all over the place. the seat yourself situation basically means you have to flag down a server to bring you some menus. both times I have been here this was the situation. it's a damn free for all. the food all sounds good but I have to say nothing I have eaten there impressed me very much, except for the sweet potato fries. which are a frozen product so we will move past that. i've tasted a good amount of stuff off the menu because everyone gave me bites to try, and I just wasn't wowed. I wanted to like it more than I did. the prices are really good though, so if you're coming here for a bite at lunch and don't want to spend a fortune, I would say this is a good place for that. 5 years and countless satays later, and I am still excited to go to this Eagle gem. The daily specials are always an adventure you can count on, but what I also love about this establishment is their consistency and quality. You won't find a better portion and cut for a salmon sandwich in town. Always ask for an extra side of that saucy sauce to dip it in. Today I tried to order via my Smartohone. Very difficult but finally placed the order. Called to find out if order had gone through & was put on hold. I drove 35 minutes to the restaurant, & was still on hold when I arrived. No one ever came back on the phone. When I arrived & went inside, the young lady, after I told her what happened, got a man who I had to repeat the information to. He went away & after about 5 minutes came back & said the order had not come through. Neither of them would tell me who put me on hold & left me hanging. I wasted about and hour & 20 minutes. Great service and great Bloody Mary. This review is for the cook. The two of us ordered Eggs Benedict and were disappointed to get dry English muffins with hardly any hollandaise sauce and over cooked eggs. We really like the place and it's close to our house. We just want our yokes runny and enough sauce to not have to chew through dry muffins. The lady sitting next to us offered the same feedback unsolicited when she overheard our order. Ginger soy chicken salad is a 10/10. I will never get anything but this item when I come to this resteraunt. I have had my fiance bring me here multiple times and the problem with the meals that he has received is they give you almost no meat. I mean serious the SMALLEST amount they can possibly get away with. He gets like a slice when he should get a good slab of meat for the cost. They literally put as minimal amount of meat as possible. My girlfriend ,and I rode our bikes to this place on a Sunday afternoon. The bike rack out front was kinda messed up , and there was a bush right next to that was overgrown, and severely impeding our abilities to lock our bikes. As we entered the establishment the hostess Showed us to the lamest seating area in the place. At which point, I asked for a better place to sit. Which she agreed. We ordered the club sandwich, and fries which we split. The food came surprisingly fast. I'm glad we split it because it was a lot of food. The fries were crisp, and the sandwich was good. What can I say everything was good, other than the bike rack, and being offered a lame area to sit. The waitress didn't bug us to much. The food was fast, and the food was good. I was in town on business and Bardenay came highly recommended and it happened to be next door to my hotel so my colleague and I gave it a try! The place was packed and very lively which is usually a good sign. We were greeted and seated immediately and our server took no time at all to come over to us. She made great suggestions for drinks and communicated the specials to us. I went with the Chicken Cordon Bleu which was on special and it did not disappoint! I had also ordered a side Caesar salad before my meal and that proved to be a little too much food as the salad was huge! The Basil Instinct was delicious as well. I was visiting family and one of my brothers, who happened to be visiting as well, was raving about this restaurant. In fact he and my sister-in-law had visited every day since they had been in town. Interior is very spacious and I like the look of it. You can watch sports on TV at the bar. Bartender is very friendly and make a good drink. The outside is very spacious as well. The food was great. We ordered a few appetizers...wings, calamari, dip trio. I did have the beef pho as my entree, and even though I love salt, this was way too salty for me. Nonetheless, it was edible and tasty. We came in on a Friday night and waited about an hour for our table. Finally seated we ordered the smoke trout appetizer, unfortunately it was forgotten about so we waited awhile before it finally came. It was ok. My husband ordered a cocktail and it was really watered down, a beer that was ordered was a little warm. I ordered the bruschetta salad and it was a soggy, cheesy mess. It was a cheese salad. My mother in law ordered fish tacos that were so cold they weren't edible, and the two turkey clubs our kids got tasted like they were from a Denny's and the fries were cold. Been here a couple times. Food is decent. Cooks got our order wrong (asked for sauce on the side) not once, but twice. Second time they just tried scraping the Mayo off the sandwich. Beware of the flys! I've never seen a place with more flys indoors than this one. Buzzing around the tables, landing on our arms and having to swat them away from food. What an expensive Easter Mistake! Bardenay came highly recommended, so we decided to give the Easter Buffet a try. I was severely disappointed in the following: ALL of the hot dishes were barely warm. The prime rib was tough to the point of nearly being inedibleable. The tables were crammed together to the point of having to coordinate with the people at nearby tables, so that people could get up! There was only one fruit choice & it was poorly presented as if as an afterthought. As for the Belgian waffles, I think they were cooked previously and then deep fried to bring them back to life. In a word... YUCK!" I suspect the "maple" syrup was fake "maple" syrup - aka Mrs. Butterworth. The waitstaff did not clearly explain what beverages were & were not, complimentary. On the plus side: People in our group spoke highly of the omelet station. The dessert choices were delicious and the variety was very nice. The staff were attentive. While, the food and atmosphere here are always good, the hostess has a lot to be desired. It is my husband's birthday today and we wanted to dine outside on this 90 degree day. She told us it would be at least 20 minutes. (Nobody was waiting for a table at the door). I have been going to both Treasure Valley Bardenay locations since it first opened downtown and this is one of the few times that really missed the mark. Sunday Brunch. Very limited menu, which is actually great but when one of the main items is a benedict, you have to nail the eggs. 3 out of 4 eggs were poached way over hard. The chicken was dry and rubbery and was missing the spice promised by the menu description. I would love to say that the cocktails were on point but I can't. Apparently extra spicy just means a lot of horse radish. For a place "known" for its spicy mary, it sadly missed the mark. Sriracha is interesting for a mary but not really a fan and the only taste was sriracha and horse radish. I will say presentation was very nice but overall, just disappointed. read more

This has been one of favorite restaurant (we have live in Eagle 25 years) for over 20 years have eaten here hundreds of times. Ordered takeout last evening wanted the shrimp salad they said they no longer offer it. We ordered French dip with salad Pork fusion tacos with 2 side salads and an appetizer. We have ordered this so many times and everything was different I mean drastically different- the French dip was horrible meat was so tough roll was different; I wasn't able to eat it even the side salads were different. Ridiculous that they won't allow dogs on their patio. We are on vacay traveling through town with our dog. It's 90 degrees outside so we can't leave dog in our car. We went here for lunch my husband's birthday. A few tables put together can easily sit a party of 6 to 10. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The only entrée that wasn't that great was the vegan Buddha bowl, but that is just because it was mostly a spinach salad and I don't enjoy raw spinach that much. The mediterranean hummus appetizer was very good. My husband enjoyed the salmon. My mom liked her portobello mushroom sandwich. The toddler liked the buttered noodles and fries. I got the ace Pear cider and that was yummy. Even at lunchtime it was pretty full in the restaurant so I would imagine dinner time is fairly crowded as well. The noise level was pretty high so it would be OK to bring children here. The outdoor patio looks very inviting so we look forward to returning in the warmer weather to eat outside. read more
