Strolled here because I was staying at the Hotel next store. Greeting was extremely friendly, and the atmosphere was very unique from its decor to its floor plan. The wait staff was extremely attentive, and worked as as team when serving, clearing, and of course checking up. The food was exceptionally good and very cost effective. The only thing we noted after eating there two evenings in a row was that no manager had seemed to visit any tables.. this was not however a big deal as the staff certainly was in top of everything. read more

Really good food! I've been to the Boise location (Grove) and Eagle. Eagle was better honestly, the service was great. At Boise we waited 20 minutes to have our order taken even though it wasn't busy and our server was visibly on their phone. Food was delicious, just wish service had been better- my water was empty almost the whole meal. read more

Bardenay is Ok. It is a nice place, good place to hang out if you are looking for consistent, ok food where the hanging out is a higher priority than the food. The food is average. Typical bar type menu. Spring and summer are nice because they have a great outdoor area. We typically go here when we do not want to think too hard. Or we are itching for their fish and chips which is really good. I am NOT a fan of come in and sit anywhere. Which is what Bardenay is. So, on a Friday or Saturday when it is peak time expect total chaos and delays in anyone noticing you sat down. Do not be in a rush or for anyone to help you if all the seats are full. read more

The salmon is never the same but always excellent. I've eaten it a hundred times. My personal preference is for the version that is more balsamic glaze over the gravy version. Which is what it has evolved to. read more

Tonight we met some friends from out-of-town at Bardenay in Eagle. We like going there for their signature cocktail, and my husband swears they have the best greyhound in town--because it's made with fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. On previous visits, although the food and drinks are always good, the serving staff has been mediocre. That is until tonight. We had the pleasure of having Chancie as our server, and she was engaging, personable, and professional complete with a sense of humor. She took great care of our table and made us feel welcome instead of customers being processed through. We'll be asking for her the next time we stop in. read more

I would come here more often but it is so inconsistent! The service tends to be slow, food is "meh". I'd only go here for a drink on the patio. Although the last time we did that the drink was served with a piece of mint garnish that was unrecognizable. Droopy and black. Went to Bardenay for lunch- party of 6. Showed up and was told it would be 15 minutes and took down our phone number and our party sat/stood at the doorway. After 25 minutes and watching other large groups that arrived after us be seated, we returned to the podium to be told that the hostess was unable to locate our party. We were then told that a different table would be ours and they were waiting for the party to leave, after the party left the table remained dirty for the next 15 minutes. Resulting in a total wait time of over 1hour 15 minutes. At which time we requested a manager who apologized for delays brought chips and salsa and was not seen after which. After we were sat it took 45 minutes to order and then another 45 minute wait for food. Food was average but will not be returning to Bardenay. read more

Great atmosphere, beer selection and moderately priced menu. Unique concept is a bonus. First time dining at a restaurant/distillery. Hopefully it won't be the last. If you like rum, you have to try Bardenay's. It's pretty unique (in a good way). Our party was equally split between ordering lunch and brunch. All were equally satisfied. I sampled the bacon from a brunch and have to say it's some of the best I've ever had. Service was helpful and prompt. Would definitely return to Bardenay. read more

Still one of my favorite restaurants! I usually go to the downtown location, but I love the Eagle location, too. The building is large, bright, spacious and on the water. It can be difficult to have a conversation when it's super busy, but I haven't been when it's been busy in a long time. I usually order the mediterranean steak pita with a cup of the bean and chorizo stew. But on this visit I ordered the fish and chips. The breading was crispy and golden brown, the cod was delicious and plenty of fries came with the dish that I didn't finish them all. The dish comes with a spiked chili sauce, a lemon wedge and cole slaw. I'm not always a fan of slaw as I find most places use too much vinegar in it, but Bardenay's slaw is nice and balanced. The service is always great. They even accommodated our two tables of adults and teenagers with ease! read more

Great place. Distill their own rum, vodka, and gin. But you can get a drink with just about any brand of good booze. Great location and ambiance. No reservations though and can be really crowded at times. Nice patio though, but watch out for mosquitoes at times as it is next to the Boise River. Drinks are really inexpensive. Martinis for less than $6 each? Outstanding. Food is good and moderately priced. Try the fresh potato chips and french dip appetizer. We go back at least once per week. read more

My family and I were visiting from out of town and met our other family members at Bardenay for dinner. We had a reservation at 4:45 and were promptly seated on time. The service was great, the food was delicious. At one point, after we had been there for about an hour and a half the waitress advised us there was another reservation that would be arriving soon and they may need our table in about 15 minutes, due to some of the outdoor seating being canceled because of the weather. A few minutes after, the manager came up and told us they had remedied the seating situation and to "relax and enjoy our drinks and life." Great experience!! read more

Nice atmosphere but pretty loud. Server was very attentive and knew the menu well. Located right on the Boise river so would be a great location in warm weather. Ordered the filet and while tender, it had no flavor. My red wine seemed warm but I still managed to have 3 glasses :-). My husband and I went to the Eagle location of Bardenay last night; this was our 41st anniversary and we wanted to do something special. Made on-line reservations a couple days prior, and were thrilled to find a 7PM opening on the patio. It was described as being enclosed, so we figured that it would be comfortable. When we arrived, we were shown to our table, which was indeed in an enclosed patio area. There were hanging string lights that gave the area a warm glow, and the quiet was a pleasant change from the extremely loud indoors environment. The only drawback was the temperature - it was about 50, maybe 55, and not a heater in sight. We asked about having a heater brought out but were told that they had all been taken down in preparation for summer. We asked about a table indoors, but being a Friday night, there was nothing available for more than 45 minutes. We decided to tough it out, and ordered a nice Cabernet to enjoy with dinner. Speaking of dinner, it was deserving of a five-star review. The chef was able to accommodate my lactose intolerance and replaced the Madera sauce with his own seasoning on my filet. It was delicious, as was everything else that we were served. The service was fantastic, and the wait staff was very kind; I think they felt sorry for us, because by the time that we left the outside temp was down to 41. My husband and I tried to ignore the ambient temperature, but it just wasn't possible. What should have been a quiet, intimate celebration of our marriage turned into a shiver-fest. Our message to the manager of Bardenay Restaurant and Distillery in Eagle is this: WHY ON EARTH DID YOU ALLOW THE ON-LINE APP TO OFFER SEATING IN AN AREA THAT WAS OUTDOORS AND HAD NO HEAT AVAILABLE? And, why was there no contact from anyone who identified themselves as a manager once we were seated? Several waitresses checked on us throughout the evening, but no one said they were in charge. It would have been nice to have some acknowledgment of our discomfort and the restaurant's error in seating us in such an inhospitable setting. We never heard from anyone in charge. I wish that I could leave the 5-star review that the food and the staff deserve, but I just can't in light of how miserable we were. As a result, I can only give one star to a place whose managers need a refresher in basic hospitality. read more

I have been to this restaurant several times. I have enjoyed the food and have not had a bad experience in that department. But the horrible bright lights and the loud music when the restaurant is so loud already is too much for me. The only way to avoid any of that is to sit at the bar which is always nice and we get great service from the bartenders. But it is not always convenient to sit at the bar when you have a larger group. Please management turn down those spotlights and turn down that music ! Better ambience would bring me back more often! Whoever we are dining with at the time always agrees. Too bright and too noisy. Just thought I would speak up! Love the food! read more

We had dinner for 4 here Mon 09/25. Pleasant ambiance with seating on outside patio. Service fast and attentive without overwhelming. We had flank steak, New York steak, shrimp pad thai, and ceasar salads, plus appetizer. Food was all good with nice plating presentation. Only negative was New York steak having a bit too much gristle and fat, but good flavor. We recommend this establishment and will return on next visit to Boise from Portland. read more

Best service I've had in a long time! My fiancé and I went in on a whim after hearing about the restaurant from a coworker. Right as we walked in the vibe was awesome. That's important to me for sure. My fiancé had the fettuccine Alfredo and I had the Charbroiled burger with the peanut dipping sauce. The sauce was amazing! I had never tried it and I'm very glad I did. The service was amazing. Not too nosey which is perfect. No one likes the server that comes by every two minutes asking is everything is okay like a insecure girlfriend. I forgot his name but he had a sick beard and made us feel like one of his buddies. We gave him a nice tip and he definitely deserved it. I would recommend anyone that's looking to try someplace new to check out Bardenays and give them a shot! read more

Service was fine. Food was blah. Went for brunch on a Sunday around noon. My husband and I both ordered salmon dishes and the salmon was just meh. Not cooked well. My salmon came on the pear spinach salad and looked like the slab of salmon was just thrown on top of it. Not sliced or anything. Did not look very appetizing. If your staying at the Hilton garden inn then you'll be happy to know this place is right next door. Hold your horses though and don't get too excited... unfortunately the manager (Stacy) at this place is extremely RUDE. We were in town for a wedding (seriously a celebration) so as you can imagine we were a larger group of about 12 sitting in the bar area, and conversing with each other-- obviously a group that big is going to be a little loud, unless your in a library studying for a final... but we weren't we were celebrating the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. having a good time, Stacy (manger) comes over about every 5 minutes telling us we're too loud and disturbing the restaurant (keep in mind there were 2 people eating in the restaurant) she could have reseated them or had us move to the patio? If we were really that loud and disturbing, but she didn't instead she made rude comments and we literally felt like she was harassing our group. She even told some of us we were better off going to a bar down the street... I mean we're a large group buying drinks, you'd think she'd be happy to have a group that large there spending money at her bar/ restaurant... apparently she doesn't care about the profit of the restaurant. Because of her attitude I wouldn't exactly recommend this place to anyone who likes to talk and have a good time. I'll take my hard earned money else where. On the bright-side our waiter Skyler (who seriously deserves 5 stars and a Promotion) was amazing he kept accommodating us and kept apologizing for his manager's behavior and attitude. --I mean really who seems to be the more mature person here?! Skyler for the win. If your a group of 2 or more, talk and like to order drinks and want to spend your hard earned money don't come here cause Stacy will freak out and won't know how to accommodate you. Really hoping the supervisor reads this review and tells Stacy it's time for a career change- maybe a librarian would be a better fit for her as she doesn't like "noise" or people very much. read more
