Trendy, hip, slightly pretentious a common theme in the short north. The food was just okay. However, for a $16 dollar lunch you want a a bit more than just okay. Nearby competitors cost the same for lunch however their burgers are noticeably better. The service though friendly was odd. Bottles filled with water were placed on our table and shot glasses instead of normal sized glasses were given to us. Our bills came before everyone at the table received their food. Everyone in the party felt like they are being hurried along which seems to be happening allot lately at other establishments. We understand turnover is key in the restaurant business but then they are slow to pick up the checks and return the cards. Overall is was an unusual and disappointing experience, not horrible. This restaurant won't be in the top of the list when it comes to potential reoccurring places to grab a lunch. read more

(our favorites were thai chili mayo, whole grain maple horseradish mustard, the three sauces that come with the sweet potato fries, curry ketchup, special sauce + buttermilk ranch were all good too). we also split a burger, brisket with bison. It was delicious. Medium-Rare is where it's at from now on. Loved the fried pickles in the toothpick that held the burger together. we ended with a beet and panko crusted goat cheese salad, grapes, beets + walnuts in a nice sized bed of greens, perfect for sharing. The concept of real, hormone free and local food is something I really like. It's a huge plus that the food here is really good and you get a variety beyond just beef, chicken, pork. I've been here a few times since they opened about two years ago and while the prices are a bit much (but given it's organic, that's going to happen anyway) and I wish a side came with the sandwiches, the food and service has always been fantastic. My most recent visit was last week where I had the fries with the bison burger (I can't recall the name) and it was delicious. I ordered a banana milkshake and you could taste the bananas in it and not just mostly vanilla ice cream with chunks of vanilla like at some places. My friends enjoyed it when I've come with them and they're always busy whenever I show up, so I'd recommend arriving early. read more

I was trying UberEats for the first time and Bareburger happened to be on the app. I had never heard of this place before but after looking at the menu, I was already in love with the place. My boyfriend and I and his brother all ordered the Hot Honeyed Chicken sandwich with the large order of fries/onion rings with the assorted dipping sauces. When we got everything, I can't emphasize enough how much we loved every bite. I was literally in food heaven! So much, that I just had to leave a review for this place. Bareburger has a great menu, and a great space, which is why I gave it another try after about a 2 year break. However, like the first time, what I experienced was poor execution of just about everything that a restaurant does... Management has some poor kid standing behind the bar, greeting customers and taking drink orders, while feverishly trying to make 20 milkshakes per minute. We waited 10 min for two beers on tap while the other 3 presumed bartenders wandered around idly behind the bar. Our beers arrived just a few minutes before our take-out burgers. So we slammed them and left. If you're going to pay $15-17 for a burger with no sides, it'd better be pretty good, and cooked to order. I ordered the bison medium-rare, and when I got home with the takeout, it was a well-done, dried out mess that I had to slather in a concoction of sauces found in my fridge so that I could slide it down my gullet and forget about it. This was the first time I went to Bareburger downtown, I'm not sure if this was a location specific thing or was a meanie change, but there were so many more options. I was so so so happy when I saw they had the Beyond Burger (I am a huge Beyond Meat fan). The service was just okay, the back bar is definitely a little awkward, the sound of constant milk shakes being made was a little annoying. I really like the concept of this place: good, real food. I don't do most of their options but my dining companions enjoyed their food. I had the Farmstead Burger which is vegetarian, and it was absolutely delicious! The base was black beans and sweet potatoes amongst other goodies, wrapped in collard greens. The only thing that made it slightly less wonderful was the hummus. It was too much and really could have done without it. The sweet potato fries were just okay. Too soft-- didn't have that crispness of a French fry which was too bad. I want to go back and try their drink menu soon, for sure. Look, I love burgers. I could eat one every time I go out to a restaurant. So I've been looking forward to eating at Bareburger for some time. Yes, my Supreme Burger was generous and delicious as advertised, so perhaps the disappointment we experienced was due to the fact that we decided to go on a Saturday afternoon. Anyway, it was clear to both of us that the gentleman doing the hosting just didn't seem to want to be there, and he appeared to be "put out" with no matter what he was doing, including seating us. Maybe he just hates his job, or maybe that's his demeanor, but he should not be in the hospitality business either way. It took several minutes for the waitress to finally come over, and part of the deal is that she seats herself in the booth alongside us, perhaps as a gesture of trying to appear a little too friendly. After she took the order, that was the last we saw of her. That left serving responsibilities to the host and another man who appeared to be the manager. As I said, the burgers were delicious. No complaints. We ordered the combo of onion rings and sweet potato fries, and we got onion rings and regular fries. Or should I say cold onion rings and limp french fries. To me, there is no excuse for ANY restaurant to serve cold fries, especially places like Bareburger which charge premium prices. Eventually we flagged down a man we assumed was the manager and he brought us some crisp, fresh and hot sweet potato fries. See, they can serve hot food when pressed a bit.. We needed extra napkins since we were only given one each with the table setting, so we flagged down the host who obviously was annoyed at our request and simply tossed the napkins on the table. Unfortunately, the waitress never showed her face again so we had to bother the host one more time for take home containers. We sat there again for several minutes and we flagged down the manager to bring us the check, which he did, so we paid and left. BTW, the place was virtually empty, so why did they feel it necessary to bus our table while we were still sitting there finishing up our drinks? It's a minor point, I know, but please bus the tables AFTER we get up and leave, it's just rude. So, all in all for nearly $50 including tip we learned a good lesson - don't go back to Bareburger, stick to Smashburger or someplace else that gives good hot food and good service without scowling, at better prices. I am super disappointed, my boyfriend and i were soooo excited to come and try it and when we got there they said it would be a 15 minute wait, which is totally fine, so they took our name for the waitlist and we were the only ones on the waitlist at this time. So we sat at the counter and waited and once a table was ready, another group walked in as the other table was getting up and the employee sat them because they had just walked in and completely disregarded the wait list. We asked an employee about it and she said "oh well it'll just be another 15-20 minutes, probably , for another table to get up". At that point we were so annoyed we just decided to leave. The whole place was just so unorganized and it seemed like none of the employees knew what they were doing or what was going on. I built my own burger and asked for queso fundido. There was "bare"-ly any cheese on what they brought out. The other toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion) were fine. Had an overall great experience. The menu offers unique burgers and even unique meat such as elk, duck, and bison. I tried the Grindhouse burger which was made with elk and I was impressed. I also split a side of the appetizer fries with my friend, which is the perfect amount of fries for two. The meal was a good size to leave you full but not overly stuffed. The service was also great! It was not that crowded but we were helped right away and after we ordered our food came within 5 minutes! I got the elk burger here with fries and onion rings. If you want a quality burger this is probably one of the better burger places I've ever been to that specializes in quality burgers. I highly recommend the elk burger it's not too gamey and it's delicious. The onion rings are also some of the best I've ever had they're crunchier and bigger than almost any onion rings I've ever had the only reason I didn't give this place a 5 Star is because I wish the burgers were a little bigger. I would highly recommend incorporating mandatory training for all employees around best practices for customer interaction. The food & service was awesome! I had the Flaming Bacon Burger and my husband wanted just a regular BLT of which they made without a problem. The fries were hot and tasty -we had the special sauce and the smokey sauce which were a nice change from regular ketchup. The BLT and Flaming Bacon Burger were hot and fresh. There we were traveling up and down north, hitting up shops for the most unique and best of items everything from the goodwill (with no airflow whatsoever not even a box fan) to Grandview mercantile. I am new to being thrifty, and now I know how much I've been missing out. I've always thought it best to buy new and buy best. Now the vast majority of my shopping is thrift and there is only an increase in quality, and I often find such unique pieces that I would never find I store. I'm referring to a turtle necklace that says "rub me, I'm lucky" so I do. I've found this makes a great difference on my day. Food was great. I had been dying to try this place out for so long. My friend and I finally got around to trying it for lunch on Saturday. The place is super cute, and there a ton of options. I opted to make my own burger, with a side of sweet potato fries. The service was negligible. Actually really really bad. I ordered my burger medium rare, and it came out beyond well done. It had the texture of a rubber tire. I informed my server, and she seemed annoyed when I asked her to take it back. When it came out again, half of the condiments I had ordered (and paid for) were missing. I had to send the burger back a third time. When the burger returned, the kitchen slathered the burger so heavily with paprika mayo that it was the only flavor I could taste. Perhaps it was out of vengeance (I'm kidding......... kind of) My friend asked for ice that never came. Our waters were not refilled once. Our server literally did not come to our table one time. What a gem of a burger joint in a vastly growing food city! From the decor to the friendly service, to the all local beer selection to the ever evolving cocktail list, you are bound to have a fun and delicious time here. I lived downtown and this was the perfect walking distance for some good eats and a killer happy hour. I recommend the Big Blue (elk and blue cheese based) and a stout, or if you're there for brunch (yes there is a brunch), get the chicken n' French toast with a mimosa. Your hangover will be cured.
