We stopped here on the way to the airport as we were leaving Saint Michael's. I had read all the reviews and really wanted to go there. I got a vegetarian wrap that had eggplant, avocado, and other items in it and my spouse got a breakfast sandwich. My wrap was to die for. It was chock full of well, primarily avocado, actually and it was just delicious and really hit the spot. I don't know what they spiced it with or what all else but it was just really good. The breakfast sandwich is also good with egg sausage and cheese on a croissant. The lady at the register was very nice and while we had to wait a little bit of time, I don't think that was anything to complain about. We also got a guava cream cheese pastry, and it was flaky and delicious. I would definitely eat here again, especially for vegetarians. AMAZING. This place was sooo good. Great coffee & tea, amazing food, cute cafe and patio. I had their bodi Buddha breakfast bowl, which I wish I could eat multiple servings of! The hot menu items were just OK for us and definitely very pricey but we frequently tried whatever "day old" baked goods were available and they were all very delicious! We also tried tree of life smoothie and a smoothie of the day which both were good, not great. We also found a bunch of amazing eco friendly gifts at the front of shop! When I returned to the island this year and drove by Barefoot Buddha I saw the new sign and my heart lept for joy. This place has been such an iconic business and a place where many of us gather and get good wholesome food and a very chillaxed zen atmosphere to socialize. The previous owner created such a jewel, we all grieved when it closed. Corey, the Chef was always top-notch. To hear that she has bought the place and updated the decor and menu is very exciting. I couldn't wait to go in and see if the sweet potato wrap was still on the menu. It was! I look forward to trying new things but it may be a while because once you've had that wrap it is hard to consider anything else. Walking into Barefoot Buddha is a breath of fresh air. Located across the street from Havensight mall, you can get a tea or coffee, grab a healthy bite or smoothie, shop around in the boutique, AND pick up your mail if you register for a P.O. box there!!! My one and only fuss is that they don't offer free wifi. Can't have it all I guess! Other than that, an iced coconut mango tea is my favorite and I have heard nothing but rave reviews on their wraps and smoothies especially for those vegans out there! Whenever I'm done hemorrhaging money from moving down here, I have my eye on some maxis and necklaces I want to buy. read more

This is my absolute favorite coffee shop on island! They have been in business for 13. years and they have the best Organic Coffee! Barefoot Buddha also has a vibrant menu full of healthy and delicious options for the whole family. If you stop by be sure to ask what the daily specials are because they are to die for. From the moment you walk into Barefoot Buddha, you are greeted with radiant smiles from the staff, they are friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere is relaxing and has a beautiful island oasis kind of feeling. While you wait for your order be sure to check out the boutique, it is full of beautiful clothing, jewelry crystals and more that are sure to enhance your wardrobe. Once you get your order there are 2 seating areas inside and outside. Took a bus to get to this restaurant in hopes of getting something vegetarian from a place with such positive reviews. When my date and I attempted to place an order we were prompted to wait a "couple minutes." A few minutes later we were prompted by the staff to have a seat at the table and someone would be over to help us in just a moment. Some 30 minutes later and still no food or order even taken. We ended up leaving as the staff seemed preoccupied with ensuring the food counter didn't grow legs and walk away or something. Luckily, it seemed secure and stayed motionless much like the staff of this restaurant. Next time my date and I travel to the islands, we will be sure to avoid this pitfall. Although this might be a good place to use WiFi if you like spending $5 to "add wifi to your order." STAY CLEAR. read more

I've been to Barefoot Buddha a few times over the years and I love their zen vibe, good food, and boutique next door. I wanted to try the vegetarian roti but they were out. I got a refreshing hibiscus unsweetened iced tea and the sweet potato wrap with hummus, spinach and goat cheese (minus aioli and tomato). I liked that the wrap was grilled, but I'm not sure I was crazy about the flavor combo. My husband enjoyed his tuna salad sandwich with mango chutney. The fat turtle is a place on the dock, complete tourist trap, NO Caribbean food available at all. Yum! What a great spot. Barefoot Buddha is delicious and you don't feel awful after eating the food. I love that they serve breakfast all day. Very vegetarian friendly. My boyfriend and I ordered two of the bagel sandwiches and the banana yogurt parfait to split. The sandwiches came with turkey and bacon, but they were very accommodating and allowed us to substitute avocado instead. We were so satisfied and felt great afterward! It's beyond me how this place has the rating it does. We picked this place solely on the Yelp rating and were very underwhelmed. Here's the rundown. Food: Two Panini's (sandwich only), two beers from the six they had to choose from, and a cup of soup was $45. The sandwiches were good but nothing to write home about and certainly not worth the money paid. The organic beer was good but overpriced. The soup was bland and uneaten. Service: nonexistent. You order at the counter. They call your name. You bus your own table. Atmosphere: Signs all over the place say no cell phone use allowed yet the music is a "Zen Wrecking" 85db. I get it. It's a tea and sandwich shop dedicated to locals and offers yoga and every hemp threaded outfit made in the VI's but to garner top billing in a resort town? WAY OFF THE MARK. We left and went two doors down for drinks and dice games with the locals and had the best time in years. read more

Running errors this morning and decided to get breakfast, the quiche was good, and so was the salad that was served with it. On the other hand the blueberry muffin was dry, and very hard. Once I placed my order I asked the lady "do i just grab these... "Muffins" And she said "no" and plopped the plate on the counter and said "use this".... I was kind of turned off by that... The atmosphere was really quite and relaxing... I did ask the lady behind the counter to try and heat it up in the microwave, it didn't help! This is why I have this place 3 stars. Barefoot Buddha was seriously a lighthouse in the storm after a hot day of cruise activities on the island. My brother and I didn't really know what to expect, but we'd heard they had vegan and veggie food there, so we made our way across the crazy construction and went inside. The vibe there is about as far from local as you can get, but if you don't hold that against them, it's awesome. All the staff were super helpful and accommodating in figuring out what my brother could eat, and we were lucky to get there right before the lunch rush. I got the sweet potato wrap, and it was a fracking revelation. I think I told my brother that it was the first time in my life I'd ever enjoyed food so much that I didn't want to swallow. I just wanted to keep that flavor in my mouth forever. And in case you don't understand what I mean, just read this description: Roasted sweet potato, hummus, rosemary goat cheese, Roma tomato, Chipotle aioli & fresh seasoned spinach. AMAZING. We also both got lattes, and I was thrilled to find out that I could get my Almond Joy latte with almond milk! First time I've ever had that option in a coffee shop. My bro got the same with soy. I was way too full from my wrap to get one of the amazing looking dessert items, but man, if I had it all to do again, I would've brought one along with me back to the boat. Also: their little shop that adjoins the restaurant area is fantastic. I bought a gorgeous leather bracelet there and had to stop myself from getting more. We were visiting the area and were excited to go here and followed the map through some seedy parts of Charlotte Amalie until we called and realized we were very far away and had to walk about 25 minutes more because unlike the map, this is not in the downtown historic area but near the cruise ship dock. It's a given that the food here was healthy and delicious, the people who worked there were nice, the atmosphere was adorable, the boutique was cute too. I only wish we didn't have issues with the location and that the prices weren't inflated, almost $4 seems quite high for a bagel with cream cheese. read more
