This letter is a legitimate complaint regarding a situation that recently occurred involving a Honda certified powersports dealership located in Waco, Texas. Before I get into the specific details, I would like to make my opinion known that this Honda retailer should no longer be allowed to sell Honda products of any kind due to the criminal activity that is strategically and repeatedly carried out by several of its employees. My name is Wes, I have been an experienced motorcyclist for 35 years, I've owned many bikes, both street and dirt. I will say that when it comes to off-road, Honda has always been my choice for bikes or atvs. About a year ago, I was finally able to purchase my most sought-after dirtbike, the Honda CRF 450R. Owning this bike was an dream come true for me, but about 6 weeks ago, it turned into a nightmare. One day, my bike quit firing, so I would have to take it in for repairs. I did a google search for Honda dealers near me, and Barger's Allsports in Waco popped up. I called their main number and asked for the service department. The receptionist transferred me to the service writer named John Burrough. I explained to John what model bike I had, and what I thought was wrong with it. He kindly assured me that it was a common repair, and shouldn't take that long, but then he mentioned their shop was running about 4 to 6 weeks behind, so if I brought it up there it would just be sitting until it came up in line. He then went on to tell me that he works on bikes on his days off, and this could save me a lot of time and money if I was interested. I know this is a common thing for skilled individuals to take on side work for extra cash, so l agreed for us to swap numbers and continue this conversation after he got off work. Around 8 pm that evening, I met up with John to drop off my bike for the repairs. John texted the following morning to confirm that the bike needed more extensive repairs than I anticipated, $2,300 worth. I told him that I wanted to go ahead with the repairs, but that it would take me a couple of days to put that amount of money together. I kept my word and sent John the $2,300 via cash app, but once John had the bike and the money in hand, things went sideways. After 2 weeks of almost no communication, I began to get the feeling that I was getting ripped off, that I had just gotten taken for a $5k bike, and $2,300 cash. Out of curiosity, I called up the dealership and asked the receptionist to speak to the manager. Trent promptly picked up, and I asked him if John Burrough still worked there, and if he was in that day. I briefly told Trent the situation, and he calmly responded with "I'm sorry that has happened, but I don't think there's anything I can do to help." Trent's comment seemed strange to me, as if he were a little too apathetic for such an egregious accusation toward his service writer. Over the following weeks I read through the online traffic regarding Barger's All sports and I noticed, most of the reviews were far less than positive. Many were dissatisfied with the service work, some claimed they were ripped off, and several mentioned that the staff at Barger's were unprofessional, or downright rude to them. However, the most shocking review I found was a customer 1-1/2 years ago that had the exact same scenario as me, where John Burrough promised to save him time and money repairing his Honda CRF, but he never saw the bike or the money again either. When I read this man's review, it confirmed what I had already been feeling in my gut for weeks. These low life's are using Barger's service department to get their motocross bikes plus all the needed upgrades completely free. It was obvious to me that Trent and John are both in on it, which means Trent conveniently looks the other way every time a bike and upwards of $2,000 goes "missing." I hope this story will circulate through the off-road community, especially in Waco and surrounding areas. I would like fellow riders to join me in spreading the word about Barger's All Sports so they can go out of business soon, and make certain John and Trent never work in another motorcycle shop in the future because they are a disgrace to the racing community, and I hope everyone lets them know they aren't welcome in it anymore. This is your local place for Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Honda motorcycles plus several brands of ATVs. (You're out of luck for Yamaha in the Waco area.) They kindly let me test-ride a used motorcycle once. In most other regards, I find them lacking in the service and parts department. More than half the parts I've ever inquired about for my 2011 Suzuki have not been in stock. What HAS been in stock has been outrageously expensive, ranging from maintenance items like air filters ($50) and oil filters to things like replacement turn signals. The parts desk isn't terribly helpful, either. New bikes are priced one way, but then with another 20-25% in hidden fees (not taxes) added on if you pursue a purchase. It feels like their hands are in all of my pockets, and I just don't like that. At least that other dealer on the other side of the highway is nice inside. read more

After waiting for over a month for them to look at my 2 older jet skis, I was told that the fuel was really bad and they needed basically a good cleaning at a cost of $2500(oh sorry, one needed a new battery) My husband went to pick them up and they charged him $300 to tell him the fuel was dirty and they did a compression check. They left them sitting for over a month there and were full of water. Didn't even have the decency to drain it out. I know companies need to make money but I really believe that because these are older skis, they just couldn't be bothered with them and threw out an astronomical figure so we would just take them away. Just got back from Barger's, where they fixed a brake bleeding issue that I had caused, as well as fixed the air temp display, which was screwed up by the tech at Central Texas Powersports, (now RideNow). Enjoyed catching up with Chad again, and I'll travel to Waco from now on, rather than go to RideNow. The additional hour, (each way), is worth it, when I get real service! read more

Barger's is fine, but only if you buy oil, filters, etc. If you are there to get work done on your toys, expect to pay an arm and a leg. I was warned by fellow riders and toy enthusiasts that they were expensive but I figured I'd see for myself. After paying 3x-4x above others I'd say they were right. If you don't mind the drive, I would go to Woods Fun Center in Austin. I did and still do all my business there, but I thought I would try somebody local. This review is for service although they do have a pretty showroom. To begin with there aren't many options in Waco when it comes to repair. That said my wife and I were in a pinch and I had spent too much time trying to figure out electrical problems on my 10 year old V-twin. School year was ending, we had bought property and had to be out of the rental in mere days. I no longer had any more free time. Andrea called them and they came and picked up my bike. That alone was worth a positive rating. I had peace of mind and didn't think about it for a couple of weeks. When we called though a couple of weeks later no one had yet looked at it. Hmm, I was a little worried, but school would be over soon and I could address myself (I'm teaching as a second career. Second year into it. While I love the work, not being able to do much of anything during business hours was not something I expected). About the time school ended, they called and said everything was cared for. I just picked it up today and am happy with all that occurred in the transaction. Pricey? I don't think so. Competent? Yes. The only reason I'm selecting a 4 star instead of five is the turnaround time. I had no issues with it, but others needing speedier service might. Worst place to go to. Said I needed engine work on my atv for low compression. It was brought there for dirty carbs. I picked it up because I wanted a 2nd opinion on the low compression. A guy in corsicana found the compression to be within spec and the carbs were never touched. Had rust inside of them needle was in wrong, butterfly wasn't working. He cleaned them and put them on and synced them. Runs perfect now great power and starts fine. According to bargers it needed an engine to run. Lies all around from this place. read more

I'm giving this company two stars,but if it wasn't for two employees, Tommy and Bryce, I would give this company zero stars if possible. Tommy and Bryce in the parts Department are great, I can highly recommend buying parts from these guys. But that's where the good news stops. I have been loyally patronizing Bargers all sports for a few years and have spent quite a considerable amount of money there. Somewhere north of $30k between a vehicle, accessories and parts for another vehicle purchased prior. My problem arises with service, or more to the point, warranty service. Some dealers will do what's right, even when The Polaris warranty team won't. This is not one of those dealers in my experience. Bought a brand-new RZR 1000 from Trent, the GM. after my first ride I noticed a leaky shock. So I took it in for warranty work. The shock should not be leaking. On this instance I got the runaround. I was told it was normal and only worry if it got worse. Well the car has four shocks on it, and only one is leaking, obviously it's not normal. In my mind it was already "worse",that's why I made the 45 minute trip to get it looked at. My resolution with that problem was, I sent the shock to a third-party and payed out-of-pocket to get the leak fixed. Oh, and I forgot to mention, the dust cap Where the leak was, was so loose when I bought it, I could tighten it by hand. My next issue arose when my differential on the front of the vehicle was malfunctioning. The vehicle would go into 4 x 4 at weird times,and eventually got stuck in 4 x 4. I took it in for warranty service. A few days later, I received a call from Jason in service. He explained that they had fixed the problem by cleaning out the electrical connections. He said they must of had a short in them from condensation.I reluctantly accepted his explanation and loaded up the trailer and headed out. When I got there the problem wasn't fixed, the car was still getting stuck in 4 x 4. This time I stayed with the tech while he diagnosed it. Within minutes of testing he notified me that the differential would need to be replaced. Which is what I expected would happen. Sometime later I get the vehicle back with a new differential in the front, however somethings not right. There is now excess noise and vibration coming from the Drive train in the front. It's to the point where my Experienced passengers were concerned about reliability and safety, as was I. It's highly unlikely that a drivetrain error would cause a fatal accident, but it's possible. I took it back to the bargers all sports, only to get the runaround again. They claim they've sent videos to Polaris and Polaris won't authorize them to do anything more than a visual check. Apparently the noise and vibration is not being translated well through the camera. I politely spoke to Trent the GM, this was the first he had heard of this new problem with the differential, I informed him that The vehicle is not right. I know what it sounds and feels like, I had put 400 miles on it prior to this problem. I politely explained to him that I was unhappy with my experience. I got the shoulder shrug, meaning if Polaris wasn't going to do anything about it, then neither would he. At this point I'm not sure what I am going to do, I have the car back now but it is just like it was when I brought it in. Trent could've easily bit the bullet and had one of his guys look inside the differential. It may have cost bargers all sports $75 to do that. But apparently my future "new vehicle purchases" and my past loyalty combined.... Is not worth $75. Some dealers in will do the right thing for their customers, but in my experience, this one did not. read more

I took my Kawasaki mule in because it would not start. Two and a half weeks later I get a call from the service department to tell me that the problem is the battery leads, and they need to be replaced. He also told me it needed an oil change. For two battery leads and an oil change he quoted me $187.00. I told him I would change the oil myself, so all I needed was the battery leads put on. For 2 battery leads the bill was $67.00. I don't know how this place stays in business ripping people off like that. I learned my lesson. I will drive to Temple or Dallas/Fort Worth to have work done the next time to avoid being raped by the labor fees Barger's charges. Don't let them bend you over. Go someplace else! The first three guys who wrote reviews must be related to the owners of Barger's, work there, or are trying to get a job there. The markup cost they charge for parts and labor is unbelievable. About 15 months ago, I spent just shy of $2k on a rear brake, fuel pump, and battery for a Sportsman 500. I tried to negotiate a better price but they unapologetically would not budge. I was in a bind and had to spend the money. The other day, this new battery was completely dead and would not take a charge. The ATV was garage kept the battery maintained, and looks as if it came right off the shelf - not a blemish. I took the battery back to Barger's and they invited me to buy a new battery for $200. I politely reminded them of how I had not gotten anywhere near the life out of the battery and how much I had already spent there. Their response; the battery has a one year warranty and there was nothing they can do. I have had $2 AA batteries last longer than this $200 Polaris battery. If that weren't enough, the woman at the parts counter got short with me when I asked them to work with me on the price considering how much I had spent there. I went across town and found the same battery, got a two year warranty, and paid $110. With online sales growing like it is, having good customer service is key to growing customer loyalty. I have three boys and I may consider upgrading to a larger ATV to fit us all. How likely am I to to buy at a place with a service department that treats customers like this? Barger's Allsports will not see me or my money ever again. read more

The power on our scooter would shut down whenever it went downhill for a long time. We thought this was an engine problem, and decided to let Barger's take a look at it. We called every other day to see what the status was, but the workers would only tell us that they haven't started on it yet and they would call us when it was finished. Two weeks later, we got a phone call that it was ready to be picked up. When we asked what the problem was, they told us that the battery needed to be replaced. Should a battery really take two weeks to replace? However, we will give them some brownie points because they gave us a pretty good analysis on the entire scooter. read more

After they overhauled the carbs on my motorcycle, I've had it back in twice for fuel leaks (from the overhauled carbs), and now it's leaking again! All this in the span of 1500 miles. Suffice to say I have no faith they can fix it. read more

I dropped my motorcycle off to have oil changed, fluids checked, front tire kept losing air, and my husband installed a tow pack and he wanted them to check to make sure it was done correct. My issue is I dropped it off on 7/22/2020 and did not get it back until 8 /28/20. That is over 5 weeks that they had it. I called the first time at 2 weeks and was told it would be done by the end of the week. When I stopped by at the end of the week, he said no one told me it would be done by the end of the week. I guess I imagined it. After that I went down there every week. I was told again that it would be done at the end of the third week, but again it was not and again I was told that he does not promise dates. Finally the fourth week they completed the things we had wanted done, but there was an issue seals on the fork, which I wanted fixed but they had to order the part. Finally the part came in on 8/25/2020 and it was installed later in the week and I finally was able to pick my motorcycle up on 8/28/2020 at 4:00 pm. My son had told me when I first got the 2009 motorcycle to not take it to Barger's because they are really slow. I thought maybe they had improved, but they haven't. read more

This place is a total waste of time with rude employee's and no respect for good customers....called in today for a part that they had in stock...told the parts employee I was on my way...over an hour drive one way.....after I arrived he dug around in a box of plastic envelopes for a while and told me inventory hadn't been updated and they didn't have the part...no apologies or nothing...when I told him how far I had come he actually thought it was funny...told a couple of salesmen up front and only got smiles out of it. I thought after many website reviews I wanted the Seadoo GTI SE 130. After visiting another dealer and left in the dark many times I made my way to Waco. The sales reps (David and Chad) were very friendly and courteous. After talking to David a bit he seemed to be way more knowledgeable about the skis than myself and I had researched them ALOT. So after 3 trips to Waco from Killeen I decided on the more costly GTI Limited. I was offered a great price and moved forward with my own financing. Thursday evening David spoke to USAA (my bank) and gave them all the necessary info to seal the deal. He called me to let me know he talked to them and everything was set. I assured him they were going to overnight me a check for the full amount and I would be picking up my ski Saturday. I called and got the ski insured with Progressive. Saturday when the FEDEX guy showed up my daughter and I were excited to go pick up our new Jet Ski. We finally make it to Waco and I'm informed that because I had no cash on the ski it was already sold. So you mean after the salesman talked to my bank and I told him I'd be there Saturday to pick it up it was SOLD! SO ok I understand business is business and it was sold to the first guy with the cash...but why wait til I drive all the way to Waco from Killeen to tell me all this and then try to offer me a lesser model after it was the salesman who talked me into the bigger one in the first place. I'm sure t his review will never make it on your website (can't say that I blame you) But if something can't be done to make this right. I will make sure that my 3 trips to Waco, $22 over-night fee for the check, my wasted time and such BAD business etiquette does not go un-noticed.
