The bar is the highlight here. Friendly and happy service, and the drinks were perfectly made. All of the flavors in balance. Make sure to order the Pińa Colada. I normally find to sweet or too much of some ingredient. This colada was in perfect harmony. If you order the pork chop, be certain to tell them how you want them cooked. Great place to find food on a late evening in Viejo San Juan as most food places close early. The service was quick, food was great and the vibe was good. Went here for a quick bite with my wife before lounging at the Casa de Montecristo (Cigar Lounge) which is half a block away. Would return if I was in the area again and hungry for some good food. Staff was friendly and welcoming offering suggestions on drinks and food options. Low music is played in the background as you enjoy dinner in the outside terrace sitting under lit patio umbrellas. We waited 25 minutes for a table at lunch rush, which is fine. We had beers at the bar and then we're notified our table was ready. We sat at the table for at least 15 minutes and no one came over. I asked one female server if she was our server. And she said she had to check....nothing. I went back up and told the woman who sat us that no one had been over and she acted surprised and motioned like she would send someone over....nothing. At one point, the three servers on shift were having a discussion, eating and drinking up by the bar...still nothing. Two more tables sat and they were immediately greeted by servers...still nothing for us. My boyfriend managed to get the attention of the one male server who came over to us and apologized. He took our order and, though not speedy service, we did finally get food. The pizza was tasty, but undercooked and soggy. Most of the toppings were in the center, leaving a puddle of water in the middle of the pizza. The wrapping on the chorizo was never removed, so we were pulling plastic out of our mouths the entire meal. Pizza sauce (or chorizo) was pretty salty. We had the Clasica pizza. Caesar salad was average at best. Argentinian empanadas were ok. Beer was icy cold, the music kept cutting out and we were being eaten by mosquitoes by the fountain that had some standing water in it. read more

My friend and I ordered a couple of pizzas to go so we could picnic on the lawn by the fort. This was a good and bad idea because: Good: picnics are fun; the lawn by the fort is beautiful and windy Bad: this pizza was scrumptious, but also a lot to eat (like you wanted a fork) so not a great picnic food. We got the Humita and Forgazza (sp?) and they were both so good! Plus they have a super cute courtyard with beautiful trees and happy little lizards. Short review because we hot and stopped in for a beer and to cool off. Only appetizers. After lugging enough luggage for the Queen of the Nile up four flights of stairs I needed to cool off. We found Bari Pizza joint. They serve way more than pizza. They have breakfast and brunch menu items to go along with lunch and dinner choices. We sat on the patio which offered a noticeable temp drop which was a relief. It's a beautiful patio vey shaded and music playing at the perfect volume. We were greeted by the host which was personable. We ordered two bottles beers which came out nice and cold. We also got an appetizer order of calamari and it was very good. The pizza was amazing and there were so many different choices. We chose the eggplant parmesan and the meat lovers pizza. We got small pies and while they were a bit pricey it was totally worth it. Let me preface this by saying this is a good 3 stars. Do not let that put you off! We stopped in for a bite after wandering the town. My rating is 3.5 stars (rounded down) and it comes down to service. That said, I would come back to try more food for sure as the pizza options looked amazing. We were seated quickly, but had to wait to order, get water (for me only), get one dish, get the other dish, and finally wandered out to the bar to find our waiter for our bill. For a quick bite, it took nearly an hour. So, while nice, service was not fast. The food you ask? Cheesecake was creamy and crust was solid. It came with a bit of fruit on the side. The empanadas were very hot (from the oven?) and stuffed with beef (?) and delivered with a spicy fresh pepper and onion sauce on the side. Very good!! I recommend getting them to start. Great happy hour prices, food, and customer service. During our stay, we came here twice for dinner and breakfast, and thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We were sat promptly, with a choice to sit inside in the air conditioning or outside on the patio where mango trees surround the area. We wish we found this place sooner, being the fact that our AirBnB was right next door. Their food and drink prices were solid, with two mojitos being $9.00 and Cuba Libres being two for $8. This place is kid friendly, for pickier eaters, offering mac and cheese, chicken tenders, pizza, etc. For dinner, we ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and it was PHENOMENAL -- it was stone-fired pizza. The char on the bottom of the pizza and the freshness of the dough was delicious. The medium size could easily feed 2-3 people, depending on whether drinks and appetizers are ordered. The ambiance is very relaxing, providing throwback music from the 90s and 80s. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for pizza or American style cuisine. read more

We stopped in for some shad and a little snack. What a great choice, the spinach and artichoke dip is amazing. They add roasted red peppers to give it a little extra something and it works. It has a cute out door walkway with tables that is where we sat but there is in door seating. The term "The place is just a hole in the wall" certainly applies here, but what a delightful little place it is. The place was clean, open, cool and airy. It was very comfortable after a long walk outside around Old San Juan & El Morro. The staff was fun, friendly and professional and we were quickly seated. In short order we were cooling off in the outdoor, breezy courtyard under beautiful mango trees (with protection from falling rain or mangos by sturdy umbrellas). The sangria was excellent which we enjoyed while waiting for our order. The food was served quickly and professionally by Brian, who we enjoyed as our waiter very much.
