I just took my sister's toy Yorkie, Lily, here to get groomed, and she looks and feels great! She's had a lot of problems in the past with groomers - she wasn't properly socialized with dogs and gets very, very nervous when left alone, especially in a cage. In the past, she's been cut by a professional groomer so badly she had to go to the emergency room and get a cast put on for weeks. Another time, we thought we were being cautious and took her to a friend, a vet's assistant with grooming experience, and she was cut again to the point of needing staples put in, so to say I was nervous about taking her to a new place is a vast understatement. I needed her groomed on very short notice, and Jeff, the owner, was patient and accommodating. I called yesterday and he was able to fit me in first thing this morning, and he was very, very patient as I asked a barrage of questions and stressed over and over again that she's a bit traumatized and needs to be handled carefully, because she moves around a lot. It turns out my sister missed one of her booster shots too, but Jeff was okay with me rushing over to the vet's office and getting it done. The cut itself is great! It wasn't too short or too long, she smells wonderful, and most importantly, she doesn't seem horrified by the experience. She was happy and fluffy and clean and was able to eat lunch right afterwards, which she doesn't do when she's stressed out. We started using grooms by Leah when our groomer became impossible to get in and due to a schedule change at work I really needed someone open on weekend. I called on a Monday and was able to get an appointment that weekend. I loved that Jeff takes you to show you around which in 15 years of owning dogs that need grooming I have NEVER had happen so that was nice. The only problem I have is twice my dog's beard has been uneven and two of the three times one of the cuts was shorter than requested. I still think they are a good option especially with the ease of scheduling but the cut wasn't the best I have had for my dogs. If in a pinch I will return but I would have to be much more specific on my expectations. read more

We are new to Leander and we have definitely found our groomer! Robin did a fantastic job on both my dogs. Our Flat-Coated Retriever mix was groomed with great detail and our 15 year old lab was gently bathed and cared for the whole day. My dogs were happy to see me when I picked them up but they also didn't act like they wanted to leave! That never happens when I've taken them to be groomed! They usually are running for the car! I have been taking my Yorkie to Leah since birth. So, our dog was very accustomed to the staff. We must admit that our Yorkie get's very excited when meeting new people. We were not aware that new ownership was in place when taking our dog there. Owner Jeff Hobart is a real piece of work. He is the reason that we will never step foot back on the ground there. Very rude & disrespectful & as it shows a lot of customers are not interested in taking our dogs back. When you are a primary point of contact for a business & in management there is a level of professionalism that needs to be put in place when handle people. First time there was fine. Our dog was happy and the cut was decent. The second time there our dog came home very unhappy (and this is abnormal) and the cut was not good. Around her eyes there was a noticeable mistake on one eye brow. Like care was not taken around that area. Also, who trims a dogs eyelashes? That's how careless the cut was. Even more concerning was the unhappiness in a dog that's rarely so. Still wondering what caused that. Nothing was said by the owner when we picked her up. The cut looks ridiculous. I have taken my Black lab/Border Collie mix there a few times for grooming, and they have always done a great job with her. They are very accommodating with making appointments. My dog looks beautiful, and I know she is not easiest to deal with at times, she is a bit headstrong. They said that they didn't have any problems with her. They are professional. The last place I took her wasn't very friendly or inviting to me, so that is why I came back to Grooms by Leah and I am happy that I did. We've used them for several years, and our dog is always happy to get there and peaceful when he leaves (other than being excited to see us). Groomers are kind to the animals. I feel very comfortable boarding my dog with Bark Avenue. They treat my dog as a member of their family with very loving care. I feel like they're very caring and I'm very pleased with the level of service and the accomadations are clean and comfortable. They send texts and pictures of my pet and reports on my pet. They have a lot of high-tech features where they can watch the dogs and monitor the facility. I can call/text and check anytime and I just feel like it's my dogs home away from home. The groomer said she would have to shave our 5 month old sheepadoodle because she was so matted before she ever touched the dog. When we objected, she said she could brush her out but would have to charge more. When we asked about the discounts she had offered, that was when she revealed that she was the new owner and that discounts from the old owner didn't apply. The old owner told us our dog had a great coat as did the groomer we took her to after visiting Grooms by Leah under new ownership. read more

So having a Gordon Setter we are always hesitant about finding a new groomer. Since we recently moved from Indiana we knew that we had to. After extensive searching as well as conversations, we found Bark Avenue. We took our guy up there today and were greeted by the owner outside with their leash since they are being very respectful of social distancing. Halfway through our guy's grooming, I got a text that they would be a little later than expected which I really appreciated. When I received the text to pick him up me and the hubby jumped in the car and went to go get him. We were once again greeted by the owner and one of us was invited in to make sure that we were happy. We were more than happy and Luke looks the best he ever has! I sent a picture to our breeder and she just couldn't get over how nice he looked and said to tell the groomer that they did a good job. A+ job all around :) read more
