To everyone at Groomingdales, Thank you all so much for having such a delightful, caring, clean salon. We have been to 4 grooming salons and were very disappointed with the care of our dog, Bear. Your salon gave Bear the best grooming job he has ever had, and everyone greeted Bear as if they had known him for years, and they all said good-bye to him also. Everyone in the salon was so up and cheerful, it was a pleasure to bring Bear In and pick him up. Also at the other salons Bear was there at least 5 hours, here he was in and out in 1 1/2 to 2 hours. We won't go anywhere else for Bogie and Atty's grooming! Wayne is very accommodating and listens to what we want for our 2 terrier mixes. Atty (short for attitude) can be difficult, yet Felipe's charm and skill won her over. The shop is clean, has convenient parking, the animals are well cared for, walked after grooming, given water, and smell & look beautiful every time we pick them up. The grooming visits are only about an hour for each dog, which is far less that other groomers. Groomingdales is worth every penny to us! It gives us peace of mind that our 4-legged family members are in good hands. read more

George is a phenomenon. Our dog Cleo is a 6 year old Havanese and has loathed the groomer since she was a puppy. Once we switched to George after we moved to the Peninsula, she doesn't mind going. And when we pick her up she's always gorgeously groomed. Cannot recommend George highly enough. We love that he's now Cleo's groomer. read more

I've been taking my pets to Groomingdales for 14 years now (when I started I had a golden retriever and a long-haired Persian cat, currently I take my beagle/Pomeranian mix) and have always been very satisfied with the staff's work (bath/nails/haircut/etc). The owner is very compassionate and loving towards the animals and the help is also great with animals - my pets have always been ready on time!! I know almost all dogs and cats don't like to go get a bath but when I pick my dog up she's very happy. I know she's been treated right, in fact after being diagnosed with a collapsed trachea, the team at Groomingdales takes extra special care of her and never put a lead around her neck. When I had my golden they also took special care of her as she always got ear infections if water got into her ears and even used special shampoo after she became allergic in her old age. Is it possible to give NO STAR to this flaky business??? I don't review often and have never given a negative review, but I have to warn people about this flaky business. I made a grooming appt. for my 13 yr. old. jack russell terrier and said that I wanted to book her at a time I could get her in and out quickly because of her age. When I arrived on Saturday w/ my dog, I was told by the owner that he was having a "crazy" day and I should return on Monday when things were slow. No problem... I returned on Monday to find a sign on the door saying "Closed due to illenss". I had received no phone call advising me not to come.... still, no problem. I called on Tuesday to reschedule and was told to come in between 9:30 and 10 AM on Thursday. I arrived with my dog at 9:40 and was told that I was late and another dog had been started and my dog wouldn't be out until 12:30. When I reminded him that he had promised a quick in-and-out, he told me to return in 20 min. w/ my dog and he would have her done by 11:30. I left and received a phone call 5 min. later from the owner telling me that he didn't want to groom my dog because she was overweight and should be seen by a vet. OK, she is overweight for her size, BUT HE HAD SEEN HER ON SATURDAY WHEN I CAME IN WITH HER.... WHY WASTE MY TIME FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK??? I was surprised and somewhat embarrassed by the phone call and asked him if he could clip her nails at least. He said no!!! This guy just didn't want to be rushed or bothered with my dog. I have 4 jack russells and have seen many groomers in my day.... never have I had such a bad experience. Should have trusted my instinct when I went in the first time and the place seemed kind of dingy. My advise is not to waste your time! read more

I arrived on time to bring in my new 6 month old Miniature Schnauzer and a friend's dog whom Groomingdale's had groomed on three previous occasions. The person at the desk didn't recognize me or the dog and had no records and he insisted I fill out yet another card. When I began asking questions about the cut for my new puppy, he became agitated and said, Oh, you Schnauzer folks - short beard, long beard you never can be right. I voiced my concern that after 3 visits he considered me a "new client" and didn't recognize me or the dog. He promptly retrieved the dog and said if you don't trust us, take your business elsewhere. I scooped up the dog and went to the car. He followed me out to the street yelling, You need me more than I need you and then kept repeating, God Bless You and Merry Christmas. With this kind of desk personnel obviously stressed out, I was glad to remove the dogs. Turns out my puppy had Kennel Cough and I saved all his clients from the contagious disease. But will never take any animal to this shop again. read more

My pups got cuts that I had to fix when I got home because they were so crooked..AND they got kennel cough which they had NEVER gotten in their lives. I will never be taking them to groomingdales again. read more

Lucky Groomingdale's! The world's best groomer has just moved there. Lisa D. has been taking care of my anxious pup for years. He went from cowering and whining whenever I took him to be groomed, to tail wagging and excited whenever I told him he was going to see Lisa. She's so patient and gentle and clearly loves animals. Burlingame is a bit too far for me to go, so I'm in a deep funk trying to figure out how I'll get by without Lisa! read more

We have been clients for 5 years when we lived in Hillsborough. Two years ago we moved close to Lake Tahoe and we still bring Bailey (our Kerry Blue Terrier) there. We make a day of it. Bailey can't wait to see Wayne and Philippe. Wayne is the BEST. He makes you feel great with his warmth and kindness when you walk in. All smiles and truly cares how you are. I was just in this week and the first thing Wayne said to me was I'm sorry to hear that your mom passed away. Touching for him to remember this from the last time that my husband brought Bailey in. Philippe is the BEST groomer. Bailey's tail starts wagging when she sees him. Bailey is in such good hands and we know it. He truly has a gift with animals and it shows. Yes, all the positive reviews are true. I've been a client for 8 years and from the start Wayne has always been accommodating and as business owner he should be. As with any business relationship there will be issues and that's where the true customer service comes in. How does a business owner handle the many issues that may come up with grooming your dog? The issues could be cutting nails too short therefore bleeding, fungus on paws, cuts on back and chest, eye infections, smells after two days, keeping dog all day, over booking clients and many more. Not including the trips to the vet to care for these issues. All these were my concerns. Wayne was sometimes defensive, but mostly corrected them. I kept many other issues silent. I stayed because of Philippe. His pet grooming is amazing. Wayne is temperamental. I felt I had to tread lightly with Wayne for fear of him loosing it. He went through many groomers, except for Philippe. I stayed, until I couldn't. Wayne finally lost it. read more

I first learned about Groomingdales from my doggies 'Grandma" who took her Lhasa to Wayne. My guy is probably a Schnoodle, but we fancy him a miniature Irish Wolfhound. Groomingdales has always done an exceptional job with our little chap,Noah. We are all so appreciative. Whatever we request, is delivered, and with expertise. Noah actually looks forward to his excursions to Groomingdales because he knows he is in great hands and how good he feels and looks when he leaves the salon. Wayne is so loving and caring with my dog. He has been grooming her for years and I wouldn't take her to anyone else! My dog has wavy full hair, like a retriever mixed with a schnauzer on a bad hair day so I shave her down in the summer.... looks like a puppy afterwards and very soft and cute. read more

Love this place!! I have three very tiny dogs (3lbs.,4lbs., & 7lbs.) that must have their nails clipped quite often. I can just walk in anytime (I don't come on weekends when I know their going to be busy) and have them taken care of immediately. Wayne, I believe the owner, is just so kind to my babies. I had never met him or heard anything regarding Groomingdales until I just happen to park near the shop and went in. Love the place and the great prices. Wouldn't want to go anywhere else. read more

they left my cat in her travel bag with a urine soaked shirt after she had been washed and lion cut ,looked like she had been groomed fast as there were small burns from not letting the clippers cool during the cut , i used to go there for the stylist dell ,but she retired . i wish they had put her in a clean kennel . she was also hissing terribly at something or someone as we left . read more

I have been coming to Groomingdale's for services for my dogs for the last 17 years. I love Wayne, the owner, and all the staff. They listen to exactly what I request and do a good job of pleasing me. My dogs are always happy when it is over and don't fight me when it is time to visit the next time. There is humor everywhere and Wayne had done a good job of decorating the salon. Prices are fair and services are timely. Just a great neighborhood vender worth supporting. read more

We have a cocker spaniel who has been going to Groomingdale's since she was a puppy. The staff is friendly and likes dogs. Wayne is so accomodating in setting up appointments and my dog always comes home looking great and with a colorful scarf around her neck! I have recommended them to all the dogs in our neighborhood and all the dogs on my block are returning customers. They also provide a nice service of teeth cleaning once a month. Consistently excellent care and attention to detail. They are extremely caring and affectionate with my dog and I am always pleased with the results. I frequently call at the last minute to schedule grooming and they always try to accommodate me.
