Ambiance (5/5): I loved the decorations with the large plants, ceiling lighting into the back seating, and plenty of space between tables. The music was a nice touch too. It was not loud that we enjoyed our brunch in the semi-private dining towards the back. Service (4/5): There was two staff members floating the restaurant while brunch also included AYCD beverages so understandably more attention required. They were busy enough that service was okay. Staff members were super helpful and friendly. Dynamite (4/5) - the serrano pepper isn't as hot as a jalapeno so the bites were tolerable. It was stuffed with melted cheese so it was warm and creamy. Kinilaw (Tuna Ceviche) (3/5) - the fish was fresh but I wasn't picking up much flavors in the sauce Sinigang Wings (4/5) - the dry rubbed wings were marinated through which was tasty. Our order was overcooked which made the meat a bit dry. If it wasn't overcooked, it would've been my favorite of the small plates. Lumpia Shanghai (5/5) - I liked the thinly wrapped pork spring rolls which had a nicely flavored ground pork on the inside. Each bite complemented well with the sweet chili sauce. Lechon Kawali (Crispy Pork Belly) (4/5) - the pieces were massive and full portion for the price! I thought that the crunch was perfect and mix of fat was the right amount for a twice cooked pork dish. It is common for this dish to not be submerged in sauce, rather sauce on the side. The flavors were further complemented with the sauce. Tapsilog (3/5) - While the flavor of the pork was good, the bits of caramelized pork were too small. The overall portion of the dish was also tiny ($18). Otherwise came with 2 over easy eggs and a bowl of rice.

Small spot on Broadway in Astoria. I'm assuming and can walk by without realizing this really delicious Filipino spot with very good prices. We got the pork belly kare kare as our main and got the lumpia and pork skewers as our starters. The portions are very, very fair for the entrée, for thick cut slices of pork that's been cooked and deep-fried. Got the garlic rice (must get this was so so good) with the entrée and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered!

Came here for dinner with a group of friends. We were seated in the back area. The interior was lovely and rustic. There was a cozy atmosphere to the place. We ordered everything to share, including Lunpia, Truffle Fries, Garlic Rice, Pork Belly Kare-Kate, and Pan Fried Tilapia. The Lumpia was long and thin, satisfyingly crispy, with plenty of yummy pork filling. Truffle Fries had plenty of truffle taste, along with Parmesan and spices on top. Garlic Rice was perfectly cooked and full of bold flavor. The Pork Belly was delightfully tender with a nice crunch. The Tilapia was pan fried in coconut cream, served with green beans and tomatoes. Tilapia was wonderfully succulent, flaky, and well seasoned, while the cream sauce was light and paired beautifully with the fish, as well as the veggies. For dessert, we tried the Nutella Lava Cake with Ube ice cream and the Halo Halo of course. The Nutella Lava Cake also came with strawberries on the side and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. The cake was oozing with irresistible, warm, sweet Nutella filling. Ube ice cream was creamy and tasty. The Halo Halo was shaved ice chock full of jackfruit, flan, ube ice cream, and rice cakes. This made for a delicious treat with unique textures and tastes. Service was solid. Our waiter was welcoming and understanding. We were well taken care of throughout our time here and everything came out in a timely manner. I would be open to returning and would like to try the Shrimp Pancit and Skirt Steak.

I forgot the name of it but it's close to lomi.

Astoria, NY Customer service- welcoming. Ambiance- it can get crowded but it was fine when i went there with a friend. Clean as well. Bathroom- clean. Food- over all it was okay. Could be better though. Lumpia- i can taste the pinoy style homemade lumpia. Loved it! This i can recommend for anyone to try. Mami soup in the photo-- it was a bit bland and not the texure that i was expecting. I was expecting it to be silky, slightly gooey consistency and the umami.

It seems like 3rd times the charm here because my dinner this time was delicious. Pork belly kare kare: delicious pork with delicious peanut butter sauce with tons of veggies. The thing though is that this is incredibly rich and fatty, and there are 5 long pieces. You have to share this dish to enjoy it fully. Lechon: also good, and not as fatty, so you can earn more of it. They come with 2 sauces, a sweet chili type and another one that's deeper and more viscous - liked this sauce more. Beef stew: had this again and would get again. Tender beef and has a sweetness to it. Chicken mami: more of a chicken noodle soup vibe that you'd get if you were sick; blander but seems intentional that way Lumpia: comes as 6, and very hot and crispy. My favorite appetizer so far. The truffle fries were decent but not a must get by any means. The cucumber calamansi is very forward with the cucumber but refreshing. The Filipino lemonade was refreshing and you can ask for it to be on the less sweet side which we did.

I didn't know what Barkada meant before coming here, so I had to look it up. It's a Filipino word for a group of friends. In that sense, the concept makes sense and the vibe check too. The bigger issue was the lack of structure when we arrived and tried to get seated. There should really be a clear greeting and a system in place like, "let me take your name and we will call you when a table opens up." Instead, everyone seemed confused about what to do once there needed to be a waitlist. We put our names down and no one even called us. After waiting, we went back to the restaurant and noticed how there were open tables. As for the food: we ordered the sinigang wings with were tasty and probably the highlight. The chicken inasal, however was very small for Its price point. For myself I had ordered the pancit with shrimp, but it lacked flavor so I had to ask for hot sauce for more flavoring. Also tried the Nutella lava cake, which was too rich for my taste. Overall, nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. With better service, training amongst the staff and changing up their menu this place could be much better.

The waitress was super sweet and helpful in making recommendations. The food was yummy and filling, with ample options to choose from in regard to meat, fish, and vegetarian options. We can't say that the particular entrees we tried inspired bold, visible Filipino flavors ... but they tasted good nonetheless and small businesses are doing their best. Desserts are 10/10!!!!

Ambiance: 5 star. Lively on a Thursday night. A large group was singing karaoke. Food: spring roll was excellent. Crispy, and the meat inside is tasty. Kare Kare, the pork skin is very crispy The shrimp paste goes well with the pork belly. Skirt steak is ok. I doesnt have much taste to it. I also didn't like the drinks either. Service is good, they checked on us to ask us if everything is ok. The waitress even offered us to sing karaoke, which my wife and I politely declined. It was a fun night after a stressful day at work.

I am SO happy to have a Filipino restaurant in Astoria! The owner and the staff are all wonderful! Conveniently located near Broadway subway station. There are plenty of table seats inside, plus bar seating and enough space to accomodate large groups. Some nights there are karaoke and there are other events here including live music, plenty of TVs to watch sports. I have been coming here since they first opened and have brought friends and family here. This visit I brought Filipino cousins visiting from out of town. 3 of us orderer food to share, then a couple others joined us later for drinks. It was still happy hour when we arrived. We each started with an Ube Espresso Martini and then later I switched to a Manila Mule. To start we shared: Sinigang Wings (I try to have these any time I'm here! Delicious sinigang inspired flavor dry rub) Lumpiang Shanghai Then shared mains: Beef Kaldareta Pork Belly Kare Kare And sides: Garlic Bok Choy Garlic Rice They loved the food and drinks and we even had some leftovers.

Super yummy Filipino food in Astoria. My favorite was the mushroom adobo, which had a great sauce. But the pork belly was also delicious. The lumpia spring rolls were okay; I couldn't taste the filling that much, but they were at least very crispy. We had a reservation for Friday evening, but it was pretty empty and you'd be able to walk in.

Got a dinner Groupon for 2. The service was great. The Groupon came with a choice of a $30 or less bottle of wine. I chose the Chardonnay. It was exceptionally good and paired well with my delicious Pork Belly. It also came with a desert to share. I ordered the lava cake and ube Ice cream. & the ambiance was great for a date night.

Barkada is a new Filipino restaurant in Astoria serving modernized Filipino cuisine. We went on a Friday night, and there was a live band -- fun vibe but definitely loud, so if you're planning to chat, maybe pick another night. From the outside it looks small, but it's surprisingly spacious inside. The servers were super friendly, and Jamae (who I assume is the manager or co-owner) was wonderful -- very attentive and personable. We started with the kinilaw, sinigang wings, and truffle fries. The kinilaw (Filipino ceviche) was a pleasant surprise -- fresh fish, coconut milk, and a nice kick from the peppers. Delicious! The sinigang wings were crispy and flavorful, though I didn't quite get the sour sinigang taste. The truffle fries were tasty and full of truffle flavor. For entrées, we had the kare-kare pork belly, kaldereta, garlic rice, and fried chicken. The kare-kare was my favorite -- rich, savory, and paired well with the pork belly. The kaldereta had decent flavor but could've used more gravy and a bit more tenderness in the meat. The garlic rice was a bit sticky and hard, not my favorite texture. Unfortunately, the fried chicken was undercooked -- bloody inside and on the plate. We were really looking forward to it, so that was disappointing. The staff handled it well, offering to replace it or bring another dish, but it did dampen the experience a bit. Jamae was very apologetic and even sent over two calamansi-tequila shots as a kind gesture, which we appreciated. For dessert, we had the ube lava cake (chocolate cake with ube ice cream). The cake was dry and not really "lava," but I appreciated that they still honored the order even though it was no longer on the menu. Note: it contains nuts or pistachios, so be careful if you have allergies. For drinks, we tried the calamansi margarita and ube espresso martini (I had mine on the rocks -- could've used more ice). The calamansi margarita was refreshing, but the ube flavor in the martini didn't really come through. Overall, service and vibe were great, food had some hits and misses, but I'd definitely come back with friends or family to try more dishes. You can tell they really care, and I'm excited to see how they grow!

Absolutely loved my recent visit to Barkada Social Club. It's unlike any place I've ever been to in Astoria or elsewhere, honestly. It's a high-end bar serving Filipino/American fusion dishes. The ambiance is casual, but the service and cocktail menu make the place feel really high end. I ordered their Old Fashioned Romance which came smoked, and was absolutely delicious and incredibly strong. It's like getting a little show in addition to your order watching them smoke it. The cocktail menu isn't as outrageous price wise as you'd think for a social club, either. Most cocktails are $15, with a happy hour that serves $8 classic cocktails plus $2 off signature drinks. I was a little hungry and went with their chicken skewers which blew me away. The softest, melt in your mouth chicken that was perfectly marinated and grilled to perfection. For dessert we tried the flan which you could tell was homemade. Silky, sweet, absolutely perfect. I will definitely be back here!

The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. I would definitely consider hosting another event there, or dine here on my own.

I tried the SnS Pornstar which came with sprinkles on top and was my favorite drink of the night. It was super refreshing and light. I also tried the cotton candy which comes with actual candy and the drink was also refreshing and surprisingly not too sweet. Service was great and would come back here to try other drinks!

The bartender, the one person who should be welcoming and engaging, came across as rude and lacked any charisma. On a Friday night, good energy behind the bar makes a huge difference, and that was completely missing. I ordered a margarita, which is one of the simplest and most common cocktails to make. I asked for it really sweet with plenty of salt on the rim. Instead, it came out barely sweet and with almost no salt. For a $17 margarita, I expected much better. I've had to return the drink because I've had better margaritas for $12 at other places. While waiting for my friend, I had to wait with a glass of water because I didn't trust the way they made the drink. The bartender told me I either needed to order another drink or move, which felt unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. To be fair, the food was good and the space itself is nice. However, the bar service left a very poor impression. There are plenty of more affordable places where the staff are friendly and make guests feel welcome. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this place. Give this place a 6.5
