I finally dined in at Ros Niyom! The food here is still as solid as when I order takeout. My friends and I shared the following dishes: Fresh summer rolls - Had tofu inside which was okay. The peanut dipping sauce made the dish, as the summer roll on its own doesn't have much flavor Ga prow moo sub khai dao (ground pork and rice) - This dish was a bit greasy. Local Thai spot in LIC that we wanted to try on a Friday night! Dimly lit inside and the waitresses were super attentive, my water was always filled. We got the spring rolls and curry puffs to share as appetizers. While these apps were tasty, there was nothing super unique about them. My folks were in town and Ros Niyom has been on my to-eat list for quite some time now, so I figured a nice Thai lunch with my folks would be a nice. We got in around 2ish on Saturday and were promptly seated (as the only customers there at the time). The interior is cozy and clean (including bathroom). We were promptly given some table waters and menus. After perusing the menu, which had a nice variety of apps and entrees, we settled on: Apps: Fresh Summer rolls - Rice paper wrap, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, mint, tofu served with hoisin tamarind sauce and ground peanut. My dad was pushing these, and while they were fine...it was really just a bunch of wrapped greens with a small amount of tofu...I thought stomach space could have been better utilized, BUT...that hoisin peanut sauce is delicious (as a peanut/peanut butter fiend). Thai Dumplings (5 pcs.) - Steamed or fried shrimp & chicken, shiitake mushroom, water chestnut, sesame oil ,scallions, cilantro sprinkle with fried garlic served with black sweet soy sauce vinaigrette. This was my mom's choice (steamed) and she definitely won the appetizer war...these were plump, juicy, and delicious. Mains: we were admittedly a little bit boring as my dad decided to copy my order after he inquired where I was leaning (he was going for the salmon initially), and my mom got a different variety of the same - but, despite some redundancy in orders, these were delicious! My mom got the Karee Talay - Stir fried shrimps, squid, scallops, new zealand mussels with egg, curry powder, roasted chili, milk, bell peppers, scallions, onions and celery, typically served with Jasmine rice but it looked like they actually gave her squid ink spaghetti. I had some of the spaghetti and it was delicious with the curry broth soaked in for sure! My dad and I both got the Pad cha talay - Stir fried shrimps, squid, scallops, new Zealand mussels with garlic, fresh chili, herbs, young peppercorn, fingerroot, bell peppers and thai basil leaves served with Jasmine rice (I opted for brown rice sub). Plenty of seafood, nice kick, this was delightful. Oddly, after finishing the main course, they staff cleared out table and just handed us the bill, without inquiring about any tea/coffee/sweets. We came here based on reviews plus where it was located. It is a fairly new place as the decor looks very up to date so it's nice. Even the bathroom was so pristine, so you know it's a new restaurant and everything was renovated. The service was great. I was impressed with how attentive they were. They immediately had us seated once a table was ready. Gave us menus and water right away without us even asking. There's even a qr code for those who just want to see the menu. Once we knew what we wanted, the waitstaff took down our order and served us right away. The Thai Zaab wings were pretty good. It was different from any wings that I've had before because of the Thai spice that they used to season it. I LOVE ROS NIYOM with every inch of my body. Their flavoring is a bit on the sweeter side, which I absolutely LOVE. But this place literally does everything right. I thank god everyday that I live 3 streets from this restaurant. Their spice is LEGIT. I like to get their noodle dishes, specifically i like adding spice to my pad thai. The spice hurts so good and I wouldn't have it any other way. Usually spice will overpower flavors, but at Ros Niyom, even while dying from the spice, I can still taste all the delicious spices and sauces in each dish. The chopped beef kapro with fried egg is also AMAZING. My friend put me on this and now i inhale this dish every other week. Anyway, this is the best thai restaurant in the area. Trust me!!!!!!! I went to Ros Niyom a few weeks ago, and have gotten takeout from there since. I was really excited to try this place, because I love Thai food but don't love most of the options in the area. The restaurant is a good size, with a decent number of tables. I went on a Saturday with one person, and we were seated immediately. As our meal progressed, the restaurant got entirely full. Service was prompt and polite. I have tried the following dishes: Cheese Puffs (4.5/5): Great. They are small, very crispy, and have a great amount of cheese in them. I basically try this dish anytime I go to any restaurant that has them, and I enjoyed these a lot. Mango Salad (4.5/5) Very good. The mango was fresh, with a really nice amount of fish sauce. It was really nice to share. Massaman Curry with Tofu (3.5/5): Not my favorite of the dishes I tried, but it was okay. It was on the sweeter side for my taste, but the vegetables were all well-cooked, and there was a lot of tofu. Street Noodle with Mock Duck (4.5/5): I really liked this dish. The noodles were cooked well, lots of veggies, and good mock duck. Spicy Eggplant with Mock Duck (4.5/5): Really great dish as well. The eggplant was ample, and the mock duck was good. It actually separates itself apart due to the diverse menu options and authentic taste. Now, my first experience was take out so I can't comment on service but staff appears to be friendly and the ambiance inside was very inviting. Zabb wings are good. I am writing to file a formal complaint about my recent visit on 9/26/23 at 8:30pm at Ros Niyom Thai Restaurant. Unfortunately, my experience was not up to the standards I expected, and I would like to bring a few issues to your attention. Firstly, upon arrival, I was disappointed to find that I wasn't greeted, despite arriving at the designated restaurant I was informed that I would have to wait for an additional 20 mins before I could pick up my food (take out order). This was inconvenient and frustrating, as I had to use the restroom. I was told by one of the staffs that didn't want to give her name, that I couldn't use their restroom because it was only allowed for customers dining in. So I asked politely what is the difference between ordering online and dining in for someone to use the restroom? She said dining in is for customers only allowed to be use and ordering online is not allowed for the restroom to be used. Which it didn't make sense to me. Secondly, I found the staff member being rude and extremely inconsiderate of me needing the restroom weather I ordered my order online or decided to dine in. I asked to speak to a manager but the staff refused to ignore my request. I've never felt humiliated in the years living in NYC better known my neighborhood. Lastly, I was disappointed by the level of unprofessionalism that the staff presented to me. I've tried Ros Niyom a few times for takeout now and i'm writing this review to remind myself to stop trying. My default when trying a new thai restaurant is the pad thai. But i've also tried to diversify in the past few efforts to see if maybe my experience was a one-off. It wasn't. The Pad Thai is... not good. The Roti Massaman seemed promising and the flavors are definitely good - but the roti itself was tiny in portions vs the soup sized massaman(?) and so deeply greasy that it was just not enjoyable. Same for the basil fried rice. The thai dumplings and puffs were also sub-par which just has lent to an overall - wonder - is it just takeout and not like this in person (thus the many 5 star reviews?). Their spring rolls with peanut sauce, not hard to mess up, stand true. But the rest, has me looking for another thai place from now on. read more

So glad that there is a local Thai place that opened up to compete with Tuk Tuk nearby. The ambiance is dimly lit, so it's easy to miss if you're just waking by. I've had the Roasted Duck Curry, Street Noodles, and Tom Yum Soup. This new Thai restaurant is a good addition to LIC. Cozy intimate ambience with soothing music playing in the background. The place is small and clean, the servers are very nice and friendly. Food are pretty decent. We had the Papaya Salad and Chicken Satay as appetizers. On main course we ordered Pad Thai and Massaman Curry with Shrimp, tasty and shrimp were so fresh. Although I always like the sweetness on both dishes but found that they made it a bit too sweet. We also tried the flavorful Red Snapper Whole Fish with Basil Sauce and Roasted Duck Curry was delicious.
