I'm lowering my rating by one star. I still think the staff is friendly and the environment is nice, but my past three visits there have been a number of flies buzzing around and it's distracting while I'm trying to drink my coffee or get work done on my laptop. My other complaint is that I sometimes experience a slow internet connection when I connect to their wifi. Maybe someone else was connected and running video but the reason I go there is to work on my laptop. I might have to go to Stone Cup next time. read more

Three stars for the friendly staff and atmosphere; two stars for the food. Pleasant cafe - too bad the food did not measure up. I drive through Lyons once a week on my way to hike in the mountains. This time I was hungry and stopped at the cafe. Purchased one cheese+vegie sandwich and a piece of pie for later. The sandwich was tasty but disappointing - there was one small and thin piece of cheese and the avocado pieces (that cost an extra $1) were so miniscule I had to search the sandwich carefully to find anything. Only thing generous in this sandwich was the overly large slices of onion. I was still hungry after this inadequate lunch so I tackled the pie - worse, much much worse. Bland, anemic bottom crust + canned fruit filling. Ate the filling and threw the rest away (would not normally have eaten the fruit but I had a 10 mile hike ahead of me). Next time I will just remember to pack my food ahead of time and save $13. They seem like nice people so hopefully they can improve their food. read more

This place feels a little greasy (somehow, for a coffee shop), but the iced coffee was quite good!

This place is cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. I had the veggie burrito and it was small and not very tasty.

I love the Barking Dog. Yes, it is smaller than the Stone Cup, but the owner is a really nice guy. He is always smiling and super helpful. The baristas that work here all seem to be genuinely happy to be at work. The vibe is kind of funky. Perfect for Lyons. Bluegrass music softly playing in the background and plenty of good pastries and typical (but really good) coffee shop food and drinks. My favorite things to get is the locally made chai tea and a toasted bagel with cream cheese and fresh tomato slices. This is certainly not Starbucks. It may take a few minutes to get your food, but it is made right in front of you by people that are nice and genuine. I love the small town feel and great customer service. read more

Solid neighborhood joint. Full of locals but welcoming to strangers. Lots of light through the huge front windows, chill staff, groovy tunes on the stereo. Oh, and a Baaaadass BLT (get it w/ cream cheese on an everything bagel). read more

Lovely place for breakfast and to sit on the sidewalk and talk. Their menu is great. The breakfast burritos we had hit the spot perfectly. I love that they have the option of coffee mugs out for patrons to use instead of paper cups. I'm finding this to be not the norm anymore so it's a nice thing to see. read more

The barking dog is just our favorite place to go when stopping through Lyons especially in the early mornings before enjoying a good hike. They have a great seating area in front and outback and are dog friendly outside. Don't forget to keep your ears open for some good bluegrass read more

Very nice coffee and sandwich shop. I had a Nutella latte, which was quite good. The froth on top was creamy and just the right amount.

This coffee shop seems really friendly and their coffee creations are delicious! The Baristas are attentive, and seem to really know how to whip up a great morning starter! The parallel parking is limited to the Main Street, but it almost seems like half the customers walk there anyway, so you can usually find a spot very close. They also offer breakfast sandwiches, and the only three I've ever ordered, were all uniformly prepared with fresh vegetables and quality bread products. Puts Starbucks to shame, try this place!! read more

Breakfast , teas, lattes, pastries, sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, and smoothies, and super cheap day old baked goods; this place rocks. Dropped by after a nice bike ride to Lyons and was fully stoked to be able to expend the rest of the cash in my wallet ($3.00) for some post-ride sustenance, an awesomely moist raspberry and chocolate muffin (I would have taken a photo, but I devoured it within seconds) and a somewhat ok "fig bar" pack. The not too exciting "Fig bar" pack was not the fault of the barking dog café - they didn't make it there; just a pre-packaged product sold along with the cliff bars and fruit leathers. That muffin really was excellent. There are nice tables. some provide sun protection with umbrellas, out front, rocking chairs, and bizarre artwork fashioned onto their newspaper dispenser - the Lyons Recorder. Inside, there are tables with people dining, sipping on coffee, and working on their computer. Cool artwork is strewn throughout the establishment, and along with the comfy chairs and tables, the place makes for a cozy spot to spend some time. O yea, there's also a huge patio outback with more seating and tables. Dogs welcome. read more

I visited Lyons for a couple days to hike in Rocky Mt. National Park and felt so at home here. What a great way to start one's morning! I love coming to Lyons specifically for Barking Dog Cafe. I especially love their breakfast burrito and the coffee is good. Great vibes and cool atmosphere. Today I was very turned off by my barista who didn't greet me at all, had zero eye contact, lacked customer service, and failed to announce when my food was ready. Despite the bad service today, Barking Dog remains one of my favorite coffee shops. I recommend a try! read more

This place is a mixed bag. The food was average, reasonably priced, and came out fast. I imagine the coffee would've been good, if there was any. Informing the barista, as a sign by the pots instructs, does nothing to improve the availability of coffee, which is pretty unfortunate at 8 in the morning in a place where you pay first. In general, the staff appears to be friendly to the regulars, and pretty rude to everyone else. Maybe they were having an off day, but nonetheless probably not somewhere I'd stop again. read more

If you're passing through Lyons, this is the only legitimate cafe to visit. Great coffee beverages, great breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and great service. My only complaint is that the salads and burritos are slightly sub-par, but hey, who goes to a coffee cafe to get a salad or burrito? Would give 4.5 stars for what it's worth, but I gave it 5 because 4 is too low! read more
