Cute local bakery with awesome vibes and occasional live music. I really liked grabbing a beer and some pastries to enjoy on the patio. My friend and I got the kouin amann (hopefully I'm spelling it right) and it really is something special: super crispy and just the right amount of sweet. Would highly recommend!

A review is a only as good as the person how has experience in what they are reviewing. I am a world traveling bakery experiencer. In my 30+ year of trying bakeries and sour doughs and croissants I have to say this place is outstanding. Lyons itself is very relaxed, mountain town vibes. If you are familiar with California it's very Topanga Canyon, if you are familiar with Mexico it's very Tulum vibes. It's a beauty welcoming earthy bakery as a bakery should be. And delicious which is the most important.

Excellent flat white - I mean really excellent. Cinnamon croffin was the perfect accompaniment. Cute coffee shop and good vibe inside and Lyons makes for a really good stop-off on the way to Estes Park.

    Moxie Dark Rye Bread

Let me say right away that this review is specifically for Moxie's Dark Rye Bread, NOT Moxie Bread Company in general, which I truly like very much-- lovely people, wonderful space, and the majority of baked goods are quite fine. The Dark Rye loaf itself is particularly small-ish whose straight sidewall measured exactly 2-5/8" tall, yet the heft of the loaf in its entirety can not be believed! When handed to me at checkout, my hand fell to the counter. It is as if the bakers have placed a black hole in the mix of each loaf, the weight of a thousand loaves in each one. Simply put and all joking aside, this is bar-none the heaviest bread per sq. in. I have ever had. The crust is not just hard, it was so impenetrable with our bread knife, I had to use a frighteningly sharp steak knife (with teeth a great white shark would be jealous of) to hack through the body. Before purchasing this Dark Rye Bread, I had no misconception that Moxie's Dark Rye is not a classic European-style rye bread, even though the description on the wall stated as much. Filled with pepitas & sunflowers, this hippie-dippie version harks back fondly to my days growing up in Woodstock, NY. If you're looking for a Jewish Rye with bountiful pops of carraway, or any other style of traditional rye bread found in the best bakeries, you'll have to look elsewhere. Without that wonderful combination of a distinctive hard crust and a supple elastic inner texture, this bohemian rustic rye seemingly from days of antiquity is a different animal altogether. I will say that If you're skilled enough to slice a thin piece that can fit in your toaster, you will be rewarded with a super tasty treat when slathered with butter. I just wish the overall experience was worth the pricey mini-loaf. One final disclosure, my partner thought that this particular loaf was possibly burnt. I agree it may have been slightly over done, but not by much past the intent, which is why I have included a color & exposure-corrected photo (~2/3 of the loaf length shown) for everyone to make their own judgement.

This place had affordable pricing. They have fresh baked goods. They do have a nice cafe type seating area and an outdoor area, too. You order at the register and they give the food to you. If you want something quick to eat and are running low on time, this is the spot to go to. Got the Jerusalem bagel here, and it hit the spot. They give you a choice between butter and cream cheese. Had it without either of those. The butter pecan toffee cookie was fresh and good. They serve a variety of nonalcoholic drinks here, too.

This is cute spot to get coffee and a pastry in Lyons. Definitely hippie vibes! There are candles, incense, crystals and other things for sale. I ordered an almond milk pumpkin spice latte, and it seemed to have been made with real pumpkin. There is ample seating inside. In addition to coffee and tea, this place sells beer and wine. They also have kombucha on tap. There are loaves of bread, and yummy pastries as well. I didn't get a pastry, this time but they looked great! I didn't see any gluten-free pastries when I was there. This would be a good place to stop before a hike for snacks and drinks. Check it out next time you're in the area!

Will be back (and again and again, but shhh! You should go before everyone finds out about it). People 10/10. Real, kind, generous. And with fun tidbits of conversation and humor. Ambiance: excellent for breakfast or brunch with friends, working solitary on your laptop, having a quick sandwich on the rooftop patio, or a work meeting (in-person would be nice because the velvet couches are legit). I really liked the attention to details (such as the hooks for hanging a purse under the countertop). Cool decor and the vibe is like somebody oversized den, but instagram-worthy, you know? The two highlights (neither of which I captured in pictures) were the mortadella sandwich (with mayo and what I think was pistachio) - EXCELLENT. It was a little pricey at $14 but a simple and hearty lunch. The other stand out item was their brownie - It was a mix of a little lava cake and chocolate fudge - again a little pricey but of all the things I got it was worth every penny. There is a walk up/take-away area and a sit down area that was charming. Parking is not always easy in the area but worth the struggle. I was extremely impressed and will be returning regularly.

We ordered two different kinds of sandwiches, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The flavor was completely on point, everything was so fresh, and they make it right in front of you. The deli is run by a super cute couple, and you can tell how much care they put into their business. We happened to visit during the shoulder season, so luckily the line wasn't very long. However, I've heard from others that this place is super popular, and during the peak summer season, there is usually a line waiting right out the door, and after eating here, I can totally see why! In fact, we loved it so much that we tried to go back the very next day, but unfortunately, they were closed (they are closed two days of the week, so be sure to check their hours!). I highly recommend stopping by Scratch Deli and Bakery. It is a must-visit spot, and we will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

All of their meats are cured in house and served on their fresh baked bread each day. They are vegetarian friendly and offer vegan and gluten free options. They also offer breakfast items like burritos. Be aware their sandwiches are loaded with ingredients and big. I could only eat half of my sandwich. I do appreciate the size though as you never know how hungry you are going to be after a long hike especially in this altitude. We went with the turkey sandwich and added cheese, all kinds of toppings and a spread. These sandwiches were very tasty and all the veggies on the sandwich were so fresh. Their baked goods looked so inviting especially the cinnamon rolls. I will have to come back! Service was efficient and helpful. Parking can be a bit of a challenge when they are busy. Creative Cakes I…read morefound Tasty Cakes on yelp while searching for a bakery to make my sons birthday cake. I was impressed with the work that was presented online and wanted to patronize her business. The communication between us was fairly good with the exception of a blip when there was a family emergency. Kellie was pretty nice throughout the entire process but I did feel a little like I was bothering her with questions. I figured since I paid her $115 for a 8 inch round cake, that it was okay to make sure it was being made the way I envisioned. At some point, I went to the baking section at Michael's and looked at an 8 inch pan and thought it was super tiny. I inquired about how much it would be to make it 12 inches. I've read that she charges by the slice but I was hoping that she could cut me a deal but it didn't happen. She just said that it added 'x' amount of slices and will be an additional $55. No worries, it's a business and I completely understand. My total tab on this cake was $170. We threw a few ideas around but I gave her complete freedom to do as she wished. I'm usually hands on with everything but thought it would be nice to just let an expert do their jig. When my babies big day came, the cake was nice. It was detailed and a lot of work was definitely put into it. It was just not my personal cup of tea. Nonetheless, it was a good center piece. I ordered a bubblegum cake and I wish I didn't. When I first discusses flavors I asked about bubblegum and Kellie said that kids like it. I wanted something different so I thought it was a good choice. I only cut 20% of the cake and not one person ate a complete slice. I threw a majority of the thing away the next day. I was a little disappointed. One kid asked me what flavor it was & I said, "bubblegum." In which he replied, "Oh yeah, it tastes like bubblegum...with puke in it." I'm not blaming Kellie for my flavor choice but I would have appreciated some honesty. I suggest sticking to a normal flavor. Besides the taste, the cake wasn't very moist. I believe she started to bake on Thursday for my Saturday night party since she emailed me on a Wednesday stating that she was going to get started the next day. I know the giant (Jack the Giant Slayer theme) on top of the cake was made later because the color was more vibrant and the texture was a lot better than the main cake. This is a "cottage food" business and I really wanted to love it with all my heart. I just feel that it was a little pricey for the overall experience I had. Given the type of home based business it is, I wish she could have worked out a deal with me for a bigger sized cake. I guess I just have a chip on my shoulder because I could have ordered an amazing half sheet of scrumptious Haupia or Hawaiian Paradise cake from the notorious Kings Hawaiian bakery for under $50 if I were still in California. Tasty Cakes Cakery is a great local choice if you have the money to drop on a custom cake. Kellie does great work. If I were to do it differently, I would choose a better flavor, draw out exactly how I wanted the cake to look & ask if she could bake the cake the day before. I would have loved to meet her in person but we did everything through email, postal service to send payment, and text. She also asked if it were possible to change my drop off time because her husband was playing a game someplace and wanted to watch it, which was okay with me. I was just in school at that time, so my husband was there to receive the cake without me. Anyway, sorry for the novel. I just wanted to share my experience with my yelp community. Check her out and decide for yourself :) Solid 2.5 Stars rounded up to 3 for an A-OK experience.
