    Beef Ribs

THE Gaslamp BBQ Spot -- Accept No Substitutes! You're not gonna "find better" beef ribs down here -- because nobody else even has them. This is it. The only spot in the Gaslamp serving real-deal, fall-off-the-bone beef ribs that taste like someone back home in Texas or Florida is running the pit. And get this -- the owner/chef smokes with red oak wood. That's a pro move you taste in every bite. Perfect bark, tender all the way through, seasoned like they actually care (because they do). I visit San Diego from Florida every few years, and this has become my mandatory first stop. If you know BBQ, you'll understand as soon as that first rib hits the table.

Everything everyone ordered was hot, fresh and delicious. Large sandwich, burger and entree portions with sides. Very flavorful. I recommend, if with another, to each get a different appetizer because it's fairly shareable. ...personally, I'd say apps were alright, basic compared to main meal items tho. so I'd prefer to share anyways to get a little better taste of more options The place is cool and clean looking. Awesome decor and bar settings, also large outdoor side patio seating.. and great location between main streets for other eats, hotels and shopping. Service was on point too.

Finally found beef ribs. Nobody serves them. This place was a great find. Really nice server. Very attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Big enough space to handle a crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Portions were great. Beer was cold. I'll be back.

(Last visited 5/15/2022.) Hanging out in San Diego with some friends and we've been partying all day, but we need a break so we walked past this place so I HAD to stop in to see what it was all about before continuing on with the night. Atmosphere/Appearance: Based right downtown with a very inviting patio/street seating is this gem. We walked right in this very rustic, homey feeling space that made me feel like I was out in the backwoods of Tennessee somewhere, but I loved the character of this place. There's also a modern twist to it as well with the updated bar rail and crispy TVs. So we sat outside to enjoy the good weather along with excellent people watching spots... Service: I can't remember who took care of us, nor can I remember if we had any problems... so... everything must've been okay then, right? Lol. Food: Eh, mid. This is a BBQ spot, so I thought I was going to get some DAWG-ASS wings! I... in fact... did not. I had an order of Buffalo wings and an order of Buffalo. They're just basic-fried chicken wings that are thrown in a basket then sprinkled with sauce. Yes, "sprinkled". My wings weren't even fully covered. Come on man. Yeah, I could've sent them to be covered, but there's sauce on the table so I did what I had to do, but they were okay. Buffalo over BBQ of course, but not by much. I wouldn't get them again. My friend had The Duke Burger which is a thick beef patty, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. He loved it, so it was clear that I made a mistake. Lol. Maybe next time... Value: $17.00 for 8 wings. Nope, not even worth it. Maybe the burger, but maybe next time... In conclusion, eh. I don't know if I'd make a return visit. There are so many restaurants in the area and this one just did not do it for me so I think I'd try elsewhere, but feel free to try this place out on your own! Just don't get the wings, try something else.

Good food, service, and Guinness! Relaxed southern atmosphere with sports on every tv.

I came here during SDCC weekend. The ordering process was easy. We ordered at the cashier, they gave us a number, and we looked for an available table. They were not busy when we arrived, so getting a table was easy. The place has several TVs inside. It is a good hangout place to watch sports with friends. I ordered the Smoked tri-tip sandwich with coleslaw. I was bummed that the tri-tip tasted dry and reheated; it didn't taste fresh at all. It also needed more smokiness flavor and some seasoning. I didn't care much about the coleslaw. It tasted weird. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The service was quick too. The restaurant got busy by the time we finished our food. The staff was cleaning tables after people left. They were busy but still nice in assisting customers with their needs.

    BBQ Chicken Caesar Salad

After leaving the convention center like a starving zombie, I was lured to Gaslamp BBQ by the smell of sweet and tangy sauce. As soon as you enter you feel like your transported away from a busy Metropolitan area to a mountain cabin in the country. I ordered a cold IPA and the BBQ chicken Ceasar salad. The photo on the menu shows the chickn cut on top, but it was actually served as cut strips on the side, which actually turned out to be better for my personal preference. The ceaser salad is pretty straightforward, lettuce, croutons, and cheese.. but the chicken was very tender juicy and delicious. it seemed to be tossed in sauce after it was grilled so I was able to enjoy the delicious sauce on every bite. My gut wasn't ready to handle pulled pork, but that will be my order next time!

The SERVICE 4/5 stars. Our server was truly amazing. She deserved the 5/5. Great recommendations, super genuine and fun, had the best energy and was CONSTANTLY checking in on us; however, a couple of the other workers could have been a little bit more open with communication. We were sitting against the window at the high top wraparound bar tables (feels like an extension of the bar), so the bar is easy to order from and was our go to as soon as we arrived. The bartender took our order, but was standoffish as if we were doing something foreign or a big "no no". Finally the server in charge of our area told us that the bartenders are in charge of the bar and there are other servers for all the other tables/zones. If we were told that from the beginning, we would have made sure to follow the order of the place and order from the correct server. A few of us truly felt bad, but now we know when we go in next time what to expect. Barleymash is always a great time, so we always want to make sure we are doing it right! I truly recommend sitting anywhere else but that window/wall on a packed night, but sometimes you have to deal with what you are lucky enough to get!

There's also outdoor seating which was great for people watching. Prices were super reasonable here compared to a lot of restaurants in the area. We shared a bunch of foods between 3: Burger with Mac and Cheese and Fries, Ribs with Tater Tots and a Caesar salad, and garlic buns. I actually ended up calling the Tavern and Bowl to see if they had any earlier reservations and they told me if the person who requested an earlier time didn't pay the deposit I'd get the time slot. When I entered the restaurant around 7:00 PM, I was stopped and questioned extensively by security regarding my service animal. Rather than being asked the limited ADA-compliant questions permitted by law, the interaction became prolonged and uncomfortable while staff repeatedly attempted to determine whether my dog was a "real" service animal or simply an emotional support animal. I remained waiting at the entrance while this was repeatedly discussed back and forth. What made the situation especially humiliating was that another patron openly laughed at me during the interaction while walking outside for a cigarette. I later realized this same patron had her own dog inside the establishment in a stroller the entire time. Staff members appeared very familiar and comfortable with her, and multiple employees, including my waitress- referred to her as a "regular." Although her dog was eventually moved to the patio area, the contrast in how the situations were handled made me feel singled out, embarrassed, and unfairly scrutinized. I later spoke with management in hopes of resolving the matter respectfully. During that conversation, I was surprised and concerned to hear that neither management nor staff were familiar with psychiatric service animals or their protections under the ADA. Psychiatric service animals are legally recognized service animals when trained to perform disability-related tasks, and this lack of awareness was deeply concerning, especially in a city like San Diego with a large disabled and veteran community. I fully understand that businesses are allowed to ask limited ADA-compliant questions regarding service animals, and I also understand that many establishments have dealt with individuals falsely claiming pets as service animals. However, there is a significant difference between appropriately verifying a service animal and making a disabled customer feel publicly interrogated and humiliated. The overall handling of this interaction lacked professionalism, sensitivity, and basic understanding of ADA service animal protections. No customer should feel mocked, scrutinized, or publicly embarrassed simply for entering a restaurant with a legitimate service animal. I sincerely hope this situation can serve as an opportunity for additional ADA education and proper service animal training for staff moving forward so that other disabled guests do not experience similar treatment. I would appreciate being informed of any steps the restaurant intends to take regarding ADA compliance and staff training before I determine how I would like to proceed further. Thank you for your time and attention.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by an uplifting open-air environment, truly a breath of fresh air that felt like stepping onto the observation deck of the USS Enterprise. The amazing views of the bay were nothing short of spectacular, bringing a serene beauty that rivals the finest star systems. Over the years, my wife, her girlfriend, and I have become frequent travelers to this culinary haven, beaming back for nearly 15 years--a testament to its enduring allure. The selection of IPAs and mixed drinks is impressive, catering to even the most discerning palates in the galaxy. The choices are vast enough to satisfy anyone embarking on this flavor exploration, whether you prefer a refreshing drink to toast a successful mission or something bolder, like a phaser on stun!
