The Bbq was easy and quick to order and I ordered: *2 Sets of FULL RIBS with a side of beans. *BRISKET PLATTER with a side of Fries. *CHICKEN PLATTER with a side of Potato Salad. *PULLED PORK PLATTER with a side of Garlic bread. *LEMON DROP cocktail. My Son had the FULL RIBS, and my husband and I also had another set of FULL RIBS that we shared. They were tender and delicious, lots of Bbq Sauce on it. Our side was Baked beans, I like baked beans cooked with Bbq sauce, here the bake beans are lightly seasoned but still good. My son's friends had the BRISKET PLATTER, CHICKEN PLATTER, and the PULLED PORK PLATTER. They said that they were good and tender. It's good bbq here, but I had much better ones at other bbq restaurants, and with more of a really strong smokey smell and taste on their Bbqs. Here all of the Bbq sauce did not have that bbq smoked smell and taste, but as I said they are still good. Customer service here is Fun and very friendly. We had 2 cool servers Marfy & Jason who were always very attentive on anything we might need. Parking as alway is a pain here, it's Gaslamp so it's very busy downtown 'coz it's close to the Convention center and the Stadium and there's lots of restaurants around here. Mostly dinner time is always busy here in Gaslamp especially on the weekends. It's less busy if there's no Baseball Games or Comic-con, so plan ahead when visiting the Gaslamp. read more

The staff are friendly. The inside was very rustic. Could use some updating. The food was overpriced for the quality. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and the dressing clearly came from a bottle. Nothing special about the chicken. I tried my sister's pulled pork and that was flavorless. It didn't taste like barbecue it tasted it more like boiled pork. Went again the other day, I lowered my rating to 3-stars, I may have gotten a little over excited at my star assignment last time. I did still use extra sauce (so did the hubs), our side was french fries and they were really good (I can't remember the last time we had them, so that may have contributed to why we thought they were so good). We had the same waitress as before, she's still friendly and answered questions knowledgably. We went right after the pet parade on Saturday and were surprised that, once again, it wasn't very busy. A HUGE complaint this trip is how sticky the condiment bottles were - each of them was gross to touch. Not just a little sticky, but flat-out gross. You could SEE they were going to be sticky. I *completely* understand that folks use their sticky fingers to add sticky sauce, I get that, however these things need to be wiped down after EVERY meal. Especially since the place is as slow as it was each of my two visits. One thing that surprises me is that the menu doesn't tell you how much meat is included. I really wanted to like Gaslamp BBQ, but it was a major disappointment. We ordered the John Wayne Platter with BBQ ribs, pulled pork, and one side. First red flag: the ribs tasted like they had been sitting around and just microwaved before serving. Dry, bland, and definitely not what you'd expect from a BBQ place. Only one side came with the platter, which was ridiculous. Half the plate was filled with a giant mound of potato salad--so cold it literally hurt my teeth. They could've easily cut that portion down and offered a second side. We also got the turkey sandwich, and honestly, I wish I had taken a photo. It looked sad, thrown together, and yep--no side with that either. For the price they charge, this place should be delivering way more in quality and flavor. Bottom line: Skip it. Came here just for a drink before the game. It was Saturday early afternoon. It was about half full. The setting / environment / ambiance was a little slow and leisurely. There wasn't a rush by anyone. Which is fine. We had a ton of time before the game. Took a look at the menu and took a look at some of the food next to us and it didn't look appetizing at all. The fries looked sad and the meats looked dried / it didn't have a ton of sauce on it. I'd probably never eat here. But I'm sure they could do some pretty decent appetizers. Gaslamp BBQ was a regular stop at the downtown food tasting festivals (e.g. Taste of Gaslamp) that occurred prior to the pandemic. I paid a visit to redeem one of their coupons and to pick up some grub to-go. A bartender took my order of a BBQ Smoked Tri-Tip plate which came with a choice of a side dish. The roasted vegetables were my pick. About 15 minutes later, a bag was handed to me by a kitchen staff member. When I got home to eat, I opened up a take-out container which had the meat slathered with barbecue sauce on it. Unfortunately, the tri-tip pieces were dry. If it wasn't for the sauce, then the flavor was missing too. I certainly didn't detect much smokiness. The veggies were not much better. Perhaps the pulled pork was what I should have chosen because they usually serve up a sample of that during the festivals which have been pretty good. The potato salad was my favorite part of dinner, there was something in the coleslaw that I didn't care for, a spice I could place the taste. The Greek salad was ok just some lettuce with big chunks of cucumbers and feta some sliced onions. Nothing spectacular. I think the soda gun needs to be cleaned, I had club soda with lime and it tasted old.
