Luck, maybe. Or instinct. Either way, it paid off. The place has bones. Stone walls, a lived-in feel, and a room full of people who look like they've been coming here long enough to have a seat without asking. It's loud in the right way. Feels honest. Now the food. The wings--here's the truth. These are the kind where they split a full wing and call it two. That's a ding. Always will be. And the sauce? A little flat. Not bad, not offensive, just... didn't say much. At least it didn't try to melt your face off, which counts for something. But the rest of the meal? That's where this place earns its keep. Crab cakes that taste like crab, not filler. Mashed potatoes that didn't come out of a bag. Vegetables that had some life to them. And a burger built like it had something to prove--juicy, stacked, and handled right. The kind of plate that shows up and you know you made the right decision. Service sealed it. Our waitress--sharp, funny, moving like she's done this a thousand times and still enjoys it. You don't see that much anymore. She made the whole experience better without making a show of it. If I could put zero stars I would. I had a really disappointing experience at Barnaby's. The bartender's attitude toward my group was rude from the start. We were there to have a good time and only had ONE--and I mean ONE--drink each, yet we were treated like an inconvenience the entire time. When my friend tried to order a drink, she responded with, "Can't you see I'm doing something?" There are much more respectful ways to ask someone to wait. Later, my friend hadn't tipped on his first transaction because he planned to tip on the next one. After she looked at the receipt, she threw it down on the bar in an unprofessional way. Another friend politely asked for napkins, and she tossed them onto the table instead of simply handing them to him. What made the experience even worse was that she seemed friendly, smiling, and laughing with other customers, but every interaction with our group felt cold, irritated, and disrespectful. I can't say why that was, but it definitely made us feel singled out and unwelcome. By the end, I was so frustrated that when I ordered a Surfside, I handed her a $20 and sarcastically told her to keep the change because she clearly needed it more than I did. Looking back, I shouldn't have reacted that way, but after the way she treated us all night, I had reached my limit. Customer service goes a long way. We were respectful customers, only had one drink each, and there was no reason to be treated with such an attitude. read more

We have been somewhat regular visitors at Barnaby's Restaurant & Pub since moving to the area about a year ago, coming in for the deals and atmosphere. We've had some great experiences and some okay ones, but nothing like what we experienced tonight. We came in to get drinks and appetizers as a party of three and were accused of providing fake IDs, despite all of our IDs being real. Our party consisted of a 28, 25, and 23 year-old - one of these being a first time customer. After greeting our waitress, trying to order drinks and giving our IDs, the waitress accused two out of the three of us having fake IDs (which is completely false.) We asked to speak to a manager and tried to explain the situation, as we were confused and upset considering we usually enjoy our visits to this location and were being falsely accused of a crime. While speaking with the manager, our concerns and feelings were dismissed, and then we were asked to leave after being told that the restaurant has the right to refuse service to anyone and started using profanity towards us. While we understand that they are legally able to refuse service to anyone for any reason, we were simply trying to clear up the accusations being made against us. We were asking for our IDs to be rescanned or for some further action to be taken so we could prove they were valid and receive service. We would have even been fine with authorities coming in to scan our IDs to verify their validity. We are deeply upset and disappointed by what we experienced, and it has completely ruined our perception of a place we genuinely used to love. No amount of cheap food and beer deals is worth going through what we just experienced. Never in my life have I felt the way this restaurant made me feel tonight. I know this review will probably get lost among many others, but I simply cannot stay silent after what we went through tonight. The customer service was poor, and there was little effort made toward reconciliation or customer satisfaction. We went there for Quizzo Trivia nite & were very disappointed. The Quiz Master was all the way up at the bar, which is separated by a wall from the diners. He's hard to hear & his jokes are lame. He should be out in the dining room with a cordless, handheld mic. He could be heard, he could talk to people, ask where they're from, joke with them, etc... It would be much better. We were in a bit of a hurry and my wife had eaten appetizers here before, so we stopped in for dinner. First, the service was very good. Our waittress knew of our need for speed and was very attentive. Our meals were delivered quickly. My wife had the quesadilla as before and was satisfied. However, I ordered the beef burrito. Unfortuately, no amount of sour cream, salsa, lettuce or cheese could drown out the taste of the meat. At best, it was old and overcooked. At worst, it was beginning to go bad and tasted of dishwater. I took about 4 bites (knowing I wouldn't have another chance to eat for hours), but any more would have definitely been chancy. Food has really gone down hill. We ordered the humus to go and the vegetables were all spoiled... We received green peppers instead of roasted red and they were rotten. Everything had a fizzy almost ammonia like taste so we gave up hope and threw it out. Update: I was told my mother was given a gift card and an apology from the manager. We will definitely be giving them another shot. He said he hoped we would give them another chance. Seems like the manager is business wise. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly. However, after waiting 15-20 minutes with no acknowledgment from a server, I approached the host stand. The host was apologetic and explained that our server was busy and would be over shortly. As she walked me back to my table, she paused to speak with the server, who was standing nearby. The server glanced at my family, shook her head "no," and did not approach us.Her name is Mel Within minutes, I observed the same server Mel attending to tables that arrived after us, while our table remained unattended. At that time, my family and I were the only Black guests in the restaurant, which made the situation particularly troubling. I returned to the host stand to request a manager. Shortly afterward, the server approached and offered an apology, stating that she had been busy which i understand. When the manager arrived, rather than addressing my concerns, he repeatedly asked if I preferred another server. I explained that my issue was not about reassignment but about professionalism, fairness, and teamwork. I was disappointed by the manager's (KYLE)dismissive manner, which only compounded the frustration of the situation. Although the service did improve once the server finally took our table, the initial denial of service and the lack of accountability from management left my family and me feeling unwelcome and undervalued as guests. I am bringing this matter to your attention because I believe strongly that every guest deserves to be treated with fairness, respect, and courtesy. I ask that you review this incident with both staff and management to ensure that all guests, regardless of race or background, receive the same standard of service. Definitely hit this place!! It was really a 4.5 so I'm rounding instead of down. Lots of big stone walls and timbers so it was a nice atmosphere. Just a little too dark which made reading the menu a little challenging. Ok, onto the food. Spinach and Artichoke dip was piping hot (little bland though) but definitely good. My cheesesteak with mushrooms and tater tots was really good. Stuffed full and very flavorful. My girlfriends cowboy burger with sweet potato fries not only was correctly cooked at medium like she asked but the lettuce and tomatoes were super fresh like they were handpicked from the garden, bright green and vibrant red. And the pickle was super yummy and crunchy, not just a salty, soggy, log thrown down. Kudos to these guys!! This is where personal taste comes in. We both love our fries crispy with a good crunch and both were super crunchy. We were super happy we took a chance on this place and then we received the bill. Just had the worst experience here. Had a table of 7, one meal came out 30 min late after we notified the server it was missing. Server ignored us after meal was missing and did not check on us. Great friendly service staff. Food is 'almost' average, cocktails drinks a bit on the weak side with alcohol, you're better with the beer. Half rack ribs is on the sweeter side, meat is tender enough you can peel off the bone, and the portion is quite big. I asked for vinegar to tone down the sweetness and it worked great. I have been here numerous times recently, when I sit at the bar it's a 5 star place, great service, great food, great bartenders. When I am here with the family and sit in the dining room the food is still just as good and when you FINALLY get a chance to order the food comes out quick..... however the service is extremely slow, seems like it takes for ever for anything having to do w the servers. My family has been coming here since 2013 when we bought a house nearby. It is an almost weekly event to go for kids eat free mixed with $5 wings with my daughter. Sometimes the wings are amazing but on these days they can't keep up with the volume. Throughout the COVID 19 pandemic we have continued support when they started takeout and tipped full price. They were very conscientious with spacing, etc. This week they opened up outside seating and with a five year old we still didn't feel comfortable and ordered take out on Wing night. They didn't tell us until we picked up the food that they weren't honoring their specials for takeout anymore. I've been here multiple times over the last 7 years and just last night had an experience that will keep me away for good. I was served moldy cheesesteak egg rolls. The manager explained their unsafe food practices that led to problem. He said that where their egg rolls are stored is too warm so they begin to sweat and the restaurant rolls them in corn starch before frying and serving them. This is a very unsafe practice that led to me getting sick. Unfortunately what was even worse than the mold covered egg rolls was the service. I had managers arguing -literally arguing- with me that it wasn't mold on them but corn starch. I wish I had taken a picture but I never imagined needing one, as anyone with halfway decent hospitality skills would've simply apologized, offered a replacement and taken the item off the bill. However they continually denied having served us mold, which they 100% did. Corn starch is not black. They did take the item off the bill, but never once did they acknowledge or apologize for their mistake, and they revealed the unsafe food practices I mentioned above. This was the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant ever. I understand that mistakes happen and sometimes food storage can be difficult, especially in busy kitchens, but there is absolutely no excuse for what I experienced here. My husband and I eat here with our kids often as it is close to our house and we've always had a good experience. On Tuesday we sat outside with our 3 year old and ruthie waited on us. She was very attentive and unfortunately (we believe due to the combo of heat & chocolate milk) our daughter got sick and we had to cut the meal short.
