Being a little generous with a three star rating. Stopped in on a Sunday night, ample parking decent size place. They were not very crowded, maybe a handful of tables occupied and the bar was a little on the full side. Hostess was nice, found a seat for us immediately. The service was a little underwhelming seemed like our waitress was also cooking the food. 20 minutes after we ordered, I was told they were out of my entrée, the crabcakes, a bit ironic, eh? So instead ordered a few appetizers. Overall, the food was fine, main problem we had that the bussers and waitresses kept trying to take our plates before we were finished with them, very strange, almost like they were trying to rush us out. Was not checked on very much-only had one drink each. Though I ordered 15 wings only 10 were served, but they only charged me for 10. Not a very attentive waitstaff to say the least. Different Cheesesteak #1228. The Surf and Turf Cheesesteak - make it your own. I went on a Saturday night at dinner time. The young women manager should be celebrated and taught in schools. She chatted with customers, directed staff, and when the bar got a little backed up, she jumped in to pour drinks and take orders. It was refreshing to see her take pride in her work. I got a cheesesteak with a side crab cake. The sum was greater than the parts. The Cheesesteak was average. My Crab cake was a touch dry. Together, they were spectacular!! Wish I could give 0 stars. Drinks were meh at best. The pineapple martini was sickeningly sweet. We ordered the crab dip appetizer. There was so much salt on the dippers, we couldn't eat them. When I commented to the server that the cook was a little heavy handed with the salt, the response was "I guess he's trying to close your arteries." No offer to fix it or get new dippers. The crab cake sandwich was ice cold. Too much roll; not enough crab cake. The price I was charged for the sandwich was higher than the price on the menu. Not even the fries were good. He followed that with a burger he found excellent. Service exceeded expectations. Lori, our attentive server, made us feel welcome from the start, and the owner was hands-on and energetic. A mix-up with my entree was fixed instantly, without me even asking--something rare in most places. We enjoy wine with dinner and they had a decent wine list. Hilltop was a great find on a random Chester County afternoon. Mother and I had a fantastic lunch and a few drinks too, and everything from the service to the food was great. For starters we got crab bisque and baked oysters. The bisque is a must! The oysters were great too, especially after a little hot sauce. For lunch I got a crab cake sandwich which was pretty good. I probably wouldn't get it again just because it wasn't really anything special, and all the crab legs walking past me looked a lot better honestly. But it was decent. My mom randomly got a reuben which she enjoyed. The waitresses were great, if a bit overextended. The bartender took turns tending bar and waiting tables as there seemed to be only two staff for the whole joint (which also meant I head to wait forever for my cocktail sauce). We are new to the area and wanted to try this restaurant for our sons birthday. We were seated promptly, and that is the only good thing I have to say. The service was terrible. We ordered an appetizer but never received it. It was on our bill, however. One entree was delivered 10 minutes later than the other three, and this was after waiting an hour for our meal. Another entree had the incorrect sides. We had to ask for silverware after the entrees were delivered. When the band started, it was so loud you couldn't hold a conversation with the person next to you. I could go on and on. We were visiting from California so we know good food and we enjoy seafood. We were impressed by the food and service. I had linguini with clams which was the best I ever had. My husband had a mixed seafood plate - the shrimp was unbelievably fresh. Everything was delicious. My son had a massive steak and really liked it. We were there on a Thursday and there was good live music - lively but not ear splitting. The chef came around to check in and see if people were enjoying their meals. I love this place. Ricky will show you to your seat. This place is jammed packed on Saturdays. Be prepared to wait for about 30 minutes to be seated. Great menu choices. However I go for the all you can eat crabs. Including your choice of King crab clusters or blue crab. They don't skimp on servings. They bring out large portions and dump them on the paper covered tables. A plastic pale is given for shell dumping. The staff is very nice and approachable. Vicky took great care of us. I ate here for the first time last night for a friends birthday dinner, I wish I could give it a 3.5 stars because I'm not totally sure it's worth 4 stars but I'll give the benefit of the doubt. Disclaimer: I didn't get to take a ton of pictures because my hands were covered in the crab leg seasoning (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) so I apologize for lack of pics. We started out with the bucket of claims which I was pleased to find out were $10 rather than $16 because it was happy hour pricing. We opted to have the garlic in it which was probably a mistake. While the clams were fresh, there were HUGE clumps of garlic in some of them that almost made it inedible. I would recommend getting these without garlic. We then got the all you can eat crab legs for $34. The crabs were fresh but on the smaller side. I didn't have any of the blue crabs but the other people at my table said they were good. They offer a French fry/salad bar buffet that you can help yourself to. Fries were okay, a little mushy but the salad was fine. The reason for lack of stars is price, I think they were pretty pricey for seafood that was just ok/good...nothing spectacular. Also while our waitress was very nice and extremely informative, she had a ton of tables which led to water not being filled up the whole entire time and a couple times people had to go up to her to get another drink or whatever it may be. Again, not blaming her for this..she was just very busy. I think someone else there could have helped fill up waters and what not. Overall, if you're in the area (it's a HIKE from Philadelphia suburbs) it's worth a check out. Just be prepared to spend some money. read more

Their crab cakes come pretty close to the best I've ever had and their steamers are delicious. Yes this place is divey. No it doesn't look pretty. No it doesn't exactly look clean either, considering you dump your shells in a bucket on the floor.
