Support your local bookstore! The sad truth is, this is my local bookstore. Barnes & Noble is now the "little guy". But you know what? Besides some very cool local used bookstores in the area, this is all I have! And I'll take. I do like this location. Not quite as big as some of the two story locations, there is still plenty here to look through. One of my favorite things is just aimlessly wandering through a bookstore and that's definitely accomplishable here. It also helps that (almost all) of the employees I've interacted with have been friendly/helpful. I've even gotten into some interesting book conversations with them, which was nice. They have an oddly large and impressive selection of non-book merch like toys and Funko Pops. Since there aren't that many B&N branches, I had visited B&N Fullerton prior to the Pandemic as well~Similar to the other 2 branches, there's a section for studying/reading. The restrooms were clean here as well as other branches. Parking was easy-to-find due to this branch is located inside the 'Amerige Heights Plaza,' Just sayin'.... read more

April 2021. This is the only place I can find the Consumer report magazine. I've checked every major store. Excellent customer service. Very organized they changed there layout in this store. I want to start off saying that this used to be my favorite barns and nobles to hang out at with my kids like 10 years ago! Today I was out Christmas shopping and let me say the staff was amazing I felt like I had a personal shopper. The employees went above and beyond to help me find all my gifts on my list so much so that they even had to find some items in the back stock room because they were out of season. Now for the issues.... My boyfriend needed to use the restroom but there was a sign saying that they were closed. My boyfriend asked how the employees what happened when they needed to use the restroom? They told us that the bathroom issue has been going on for weeks and they had to run to other shops to use the restroom in the shopping plaza and that a plumber has been there a few times and tells them that they were fixed but there were huge puddles of standing water and customers walk in there and then there is dirt and water all over! I hope that management will do something soon to resolve this issue but I don't plan on spending time shopping here until the restrooms are fixed and I feel bad for the very nice and helpful employees who have to work during the holidays in these not so clean hygiene environment. read more

But they have a ton of toys now- Starbucks is still there but not sure if it is the same with so many great coffee places these days. Very rude unprofessional service from management. They start announcing they will be closing in 1 hour and repeat the announcement every 5 -10 minutes. To me that feels like GET OUT NOW WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE! Now they have an employee at the door turning customers away from 15 minutes before they close ..... no wonder they are on the brink of bankruptcy. In addition we had to ask for the movie we wanted to purchase and while she was very helpful, We decided to pass on one of the movies and asked if she wanted us to put it on the shelf, she said no, indicating she wanted to keep it in the back room so the people who really want it can get it. That makes absolutely no sense as most people won't ask if they don't see it and it also prevents people from making an impulse buy. No wonder they are on the brink of bankruptcy. read more

My idea for some low-key Saturday afteroon relaxation: a cup of coffee, a warm oatmeal cookie, a good book or magazine to read for a couple of hours. I've been coming here more often to browse and read while enjoying a hot beverage since the Borders near me closed its doors. I like the size of this particular location and, as with almost any of the other Barnes & Noble locations, it is surrounded by a number of places to eat and shop. This Barnes & Noble will not have me missing Borders bookstores that are now all closed for business and have been bought out by B & N, but it will have to do. Still, there are some things that they can improve on; the others we just have to live with. The cafe baristas seldom greet you with a smile and seem more concerned about policing the area to make certain you did not bring in food and beverages from outside (a bit of an annoyance but understandable and necessary). The lounge is rather small and it is rare to find an empty seat or place to sit at the reading tables. I am also reluctant to try on the headphones to listen to any music CD samples because they do not seem to be cleaned often and I consider that unsanitary. The positives (e.g., large inventory of books, magazines, music CDs, DVDs, cafe, stationary and gifts section), however, far outweigh any negatives for me. And I will be a fan of B & N for as long as they are around. Unfortunately, these big chain bookstores are now a dying breed. Many of them are going out of business because they cannot not match prices offered by Amazon.com and warehouse clubs like Costco and Sam's Club. Perhaps there is a real irony here, some will say poetic justice, because the big chains like Borders and Barnes & Noble once opened up in droves, killing business for the independents by offering deeper discounts on books and more resources. And now the emerging market of the iPad, the Kindle and the Nook Tablet will soon make these devices the primary source for reading literature and eventually push all paper-bound books off the shelves of store showrooms and in its warehouses. This, to me, will be a sad day when it happens. read more

Our 7-yr-old grandson loves to read. So whenever we're in La Habra we stop by Barnes and Noble for a new book. The children's section is well-stocked. Lots for great picture books, paperbacks and discounted books from which to choose. He'll browse for a while, collect a few possible candidates for purchase, then lead me to a chair where we read the stories. Although he enjoys being read to, normally he does the reading. He loves to read with gusto and marked emphasis, often so wrapped in the story he gets reminded to use his "inside voice." We're usually surrounded by a few other readers doing the same. All trying to decide which book to buy. Such a cozy place to spend an hour. We enjoy the toy & games section, though we seldom buy them from the bookstore. They tend to be more expensive than Target, which is across the parking lot. While I find myself purchasing more e-books for adult reading, there's nothing like a book in a child's hands when they're discovering a new character and delighting in the accompanying pictures. I always go to this particular Barnes N Noble to look around and sit at the Starbucks. They have a good variety of books and 9/10 times have what I'm looking for. Staff is very friendly and helpful! It is a little more expensive than Amazon, but the prices aren't too bad and I'm happy to support the business. Their products are sometimes cheaper on their website and they price match in-store. Went there today and purchased a coffee and decided to it purchase a few books. After a few minutes of being inside I was approached by very rude associate who claimed that I should not have a drink with me and that I cannot have it in the store. He acted like I was committing a crime and tried following me out with it. Guess he had nothing better to do. read more

Barnes and Noble Fullerton provides the best manga deals out of all the Orange County based stores! I follow their Instagram (@bnfullerton) and Tiktok (@bnfullerton) to keep up to date on their sales. At the time of this post, there's a "Buy 1, Get 1 - 50% Off Manga" sale and I've noticed it lasts for a couple months before they decide to end it. I've also seen great deals on their Light Novels, Graphic Novels, and some of their manga will end up in the Book Annex with an additional discount! The staff who work in the manga section are old school otaku - they have endless recommendations on lesser known titles which is a big plus since mainstream manga is harder to collect due to ongoing delays with publishers exporting printer jobs and keeping up with demand. Overall, the staff at B&N Fullerton are friendly, helpful and have amazing suggestions, no matter what you're in the mood to read! read more

Just posted this on another site, wanted to post here as well. Came here last night, went to get a coffee at 8:45, store closes at 9. Was told by the barista, as he's walking away from me, that they're closed. Asked him what time they closed. Seemed to catch him off-guard. He pauses, then says, '8:45.' I said, 'Not 9, huh?' 'Nope.' Seemed like he was lying. Confirmed today by calling the store that he was. What's more, I saw on another site that there were complaints about this same exact type of behavior, from as much as three years ago, and one reviewer even suspected racism. He complained to the manager, said they didn't even seem to care. This store is just bad, man. Really bad customer service, and now the plot thickens with a potential racist barista with a grudge. Sounds like a bad parody of a movie. Really bad customers have to deal with this, and even worse that the store don't appear to care. Shop somewhere else or just by your books online. The Amazon driver throwing the package at your front door offers better customer service than this store. read more

I had trouble finding a birthday card for a one year old. I wish they carried the Moleskine City Notebook for Los Angeles. I'd also like a kiosk where I could look up the location of a book myself. If you have a Nook there's a daily coupon and free book download (get the code for the latter from the girl at the e-reader display). I wanted to get an engagement gift too but they don't really have books about being a poor groom. Most of the books about food are cookbooks. My friend and I go here to read magazines at the cafe. Sometimes I buy a guidebook. The foreign language study section has French, Japanese, and Korean. The person sitting next to me said that sitting on the floor isn't allowed in the store. There was no one in customer service until I was about to leave. There's no DK Eyewitness Guide to SF on the shelves. They have a good selection of Jonathan Adler file folders and presentation books. When I visit, I have a good time. The environment is relatively quiet with nice and cool AC on a hot day. I love that the vibes are casual and laid back. I love Barnes & Noble. There aren't many close by so this is the one I visit most often. It's well maintained and I never have an issue with parking. There's a coffee shop inside and the books are always well organized and in their proper place. The employees have been helpful too, they've pulled books for me when I couldn't find them. You can usually see workers roaming around looking to help people out. They are a bit more pricey than Amazon and Target but I'd gladly pay more to make sure they stay in business. Bookstores are becoming more rare and I'd like to see this one stick around. read more

This review is for the HORRIBLE customer service from NORMA. I brought my niece here as a reward for her straight A's on her report card. My 12 year old niece ended up leaving here in tears because of Norma's rude, bad attitude while ringing us up. Long story short, we ended up coming back to the store a few minutes later because we thought there was an error in the transaction. As we walk up, Norma's first and exact words to us were: "What now?" .... wtf! What kind of greeting/response is that!?! What was supposed to be a fun trip to the bookstore ended in tears for my niece, and I had to explain to her not to let this rude lady ruin her night! Horrible, horrible experience for the both of us! Why would we ever want to come back here again?! Word of advice to NORMA... don't be in customer service if you can't even be polite to a soft spoken 12 year old girl!!!! read more

We loved trips to Banes & Noble. My husband gets lost in the record section and the kiddos and I head straight for the back and hang out with all the great books in the kids section. Walk down the street to the real Starbucks to get yourself real coffee, the staffs that work at Starbucks inside this location have no idea what they are doing. Ordered 3 different coffee types and they kept asking me literally how to make them..sorry I'm not a barista. Ordered a pistachio cold brew, where they displayed a giant poster saying "new item" and they gave me a latte pretty much saying it's the same thing. i specifically went in the store and ask if they have kano demon slayer pop and the lady at the customer service says no its not in store yet and she specifically told methat they can not hold or reserve it because its a first come first serve. so next week comes i went in the store out of curiosity if they got their kanao demon slayer and to my disappointment she said that they receive them but they are all reserve and hold hold ffor other customer. I told her about the first come, forst serve and no reservation and they cant hold it for customer and she was just looking at the same paper that has a print out of kanao which the other lady that told me about the first come first serve why holding the paper saying the company has sent that restriction about this pop. but thankfully the barnes and noble at long beach town center that i call if they have them and told me that they do not reserve and hold it for customer cuz its a first come first serve, i was able to purchase one its a 13 minutes drive but atleast they are honest unlike the people at the barnes and noble malvern store which are misleading and not friendly like you cant ask them for help. read more

They did their best to help us with whatever book we needed, in stock or not. Also, Teanna (sp?) was sweet and helpful. She put our books in boxes and helped us load them in our cars. read more

I have mixed feelings about this location. On the one hand they had a book in stock that my wife was looking for, and held it for us. On the other hand, what's up with their Starbucks? It was out of almost everything, they don't accept gift cards, and the staff was, shall we say, less than enthusiastic. It seems to be on the small side overall with less selection of books, videos, etc. than other locations. We usually go to the location at Marina Pacifica, and will continue to do so. As Barnes and Noble is one of the last bookstore chains, I can't help but accept that they've definitely persevered longer than their competition. And, while there aren't as many brick-and-mortar bookstores as there used to be, I'm glad that there's at least a few B&N stores than I can go to and browse books once in awhile. Service is a little hit-and-miss. Sometimes, they're pretty helpful and/or polite during checkout. Other times, I've seen them just jam the books into the bags without a care of damaging the corners of the books or creating scratches on the covers. The cafe area can be a bit of a mess, and, during midterms/finals, it can be a little overbearing to just be near the cafe with laptops just fully out cords everywhere. But, hey, it's a cafe, so that's what you do. I do like their Black Friday event, though, which is where they sell signed copies of some bestselling books, such as Ann Patchet, Mitch Albom, Jan Brett, Guy Fieri, Alton Brown, Anthony Bourdain, etc. Varies every year. I've only started their B&N membership. $25 a year, so I guess it's okay if you buy more than 12 books a year. There's a few coupons available when you first sign up, but I still find Amazon to be a little cheaper. Parking is fine. Huge shopping center (Target on one end and food at the other end, with B&N in the middle), so no trouble with parking, even on Black Friday. As for prices, I'd only really come here if I had a 30% off coupon (you don't need to be a member, but the coupon is only for one item per transaction). Extra 10% for being a B&N member gets tacked on top of that, so that's pretty cool! read more

Whenever I visit my grandkids in Fullerton, a trip to this Barnes and Noble is on the agenda. My grandkids love book browsing and shopping, as do I. I signed up for their membership (which is a little pricey at $25 per year), but it gives us 10% off all items. (Additionally, if you order a book to be shipped, you get the 10% off, plus free expedited shipping.)Their children's section is large and welcoming, but could use a few more adult chairs and a person to offer assistance during peak hours. My 5 star review is based in the location and cleanliness of the store, but especially on the superior customer service. I want to give a shout out to Tree who was so nice and helpful, and who treated my 10 and 12 year old granddaughters with respect. The manager John was also very helpful and friendly. It differs only in location being in the center of Amerige Heights as opposed to along the perimeter. So much brain stimulation here, it's challenging to not touch something. I used to spend a shit ton of money on books and I wish I still did. But since I possess library cards, I have chosen to rest my investment in books and sometimes borrow my way to learning. What a place to study in the middle of the Amerige Heights Town Center. As i parked I saw the trees which reminded me of fireflies and the silver moon sparkling. I walked in the milky twilight over the green green grass. I walked in and saw nothing but books. I was dissapointed thinking there is no place to study, but then I zoomed in to the left and there it was. I saw like 18-22 tables each with 2 chairs or more. I saw a nice area with students studying and spanish classical/jazz instrumental in the background. They had starbucks cofee, cheesecake factory deserts, indie sodas, chips, water, milk and mucho chocolate. They stayed open till a little before 10 and I definitely progressed my studies. I took small breaks to look around and found a few books I liked. I loved thier geography, self-development, sports and magazine section. The place was well kept, organized, good use of space, enough privacy, good aisles, clean, and the people were cool. The guy who served my coffee was freindly, quick and the other guy too. Parking, there is a ton. There are so many perpedicular and paralel eateries such as Daphne's Greek, Teriyaki, KFC, McDees, Soup plantation, pizza, mochilato, Islands, Chocolate store, Target and a few more I missed. on Malvern in between Bastanchurry and Gilbert, Not far from 91 and 5 freeway and near fullerton college. If I am not back tommorow it is only because I am checking out the Barnes n Nobles in LB or the Borders in LB. This location is comfy and inviting. Except during the holidays, the customer service seems to be limited to a few employees roaming the store, so help is hard to find. But the customer service at the in store Starbucks is stellar! I recommend their matcha tea. read more

As a resident of northeastern Cerritos, why the heck did I not ever think about looking this direction for shit to patronize until recently? Apparently, I only recently discovered Amerige Heights after living next door all my life and I realized that the stuff here is stuff I've sometimes driven to Long Beach, west LA, or southern Orange County for. Damn, all that traveling in retrospect, when I could have gone to a quieter, cleaner, and more polite location simply by looking to the east, north of the 91 Freeway. In any case, the Barnes & Noble is an imposing presence here, as evidenced by the fact that a large roundabout with fountain is in front of it. I think this is probably the closest B&N to my home, when all this time I've been going to Long Beach. This location does have the added benefit of not having ghetto people surrounding you. It's a one story bookstore, and I love how they make it very convenient for me and my tastes. The shelves I'm mainly interested in, business and humor, are right next to each other and they are up towards the front near the Starbucks and the entrance. Totally convenient. The parking may kinda suck, as there's none directly in front of the store (only a fountain in a roundabout). You kind of have to park off to one of its sides and approach the main entrance. You can also go down the aisle in front of it and try your luck finding parking in front of the smaller stores and boutiques. However, just note that if you fail, it's hard to back track and you may have to exit onto Malvern Avenue and come back around. I was pleased with the inside of the place as it was kept in good order. I just didn't have the full experience of coming here during the school year yet, but I can imagine little kids running around, which would be a slight turn off. In all, I would come back here more often from now on and forgo going to Long Beach. It's too far for crappier quality (parking, patrons, and location). read more
