Worst service ever. On Friday, I went there to assure they would be playing the college football games today. They assured they were so I came back today. Got there early to get a good seat. Had some drinks, some food, my game started, and at the beginning of the second quarter they changed every TV to a different game with zero warning or explanation. When I asked, I got, "sorry". This is my second time at Barney's. Always a comfort dining by the patio and Covid safety measures are observed. You have an option to dine in, be at the patio, or street tables. Good ambience if you're into people watching. Our server, Adam, very nice, very friendly. Good communication from him, serving with a smile behind the mask, yes, I can tell.. lol Had the Reuben sandwich with fries and it's alright. Had the right sauces with the fries and I'm set! Always a favorite go to of mine when visiting Los Angeles. I know they are available for delivery via Postmates, Grubhub, UberEats and sometimes on DoorDash and for takeout and outdoor dining (with a reservation) currently in Santa Monica. I will be visiting in the next couple of weeks and will update this, if I learn anything more. I used to live in LA and this was the place for good drinks, a huge menu that looks like a newspaper and lots of sports visible with music from the 80s-2000s playing. I cannot wait for things to return to more like the old ways that I took so for granted in the future! The chili cheese dog with a side of hash browns is my favorite, but I can also attest the chicken tenders, steak fries, and breakfast options (available open to close daily) are all excellent. This was always my favorite location alongside their West Hollywood location. There are multiple Barney's Beanery locations in Los Angeles. It's also an allergy friendly restaurant. read more

I ordered the Cali Burger which was huge and juicilicious! Also had the sweet potato fries as my side which were very good. The server was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed sitting on the patio to people watch. Unfortunately, a music act was performing rather loudly but one particular person, somebody preaching the word of the Lord, was extremely loud. It was still a good time. One thing that happened, though, to some people sitting at the very front of the patio: a branch broke off from the tree above and landed right on their table or in their lap... I can't remember which but it seems the city needs to trim that tree if they haven't already. read more

Upon entering the restaurant, my girlfriend and I were told by the host to "have a seat anywhere that's open." While looking a seat, a waitress approached up encouraging us to sit in a certain area (which we realized was not her section, how convenient). Once we did find a seat, it was about ten minutes before anyone approached us. We ordered a beer, Barney's fries, and a coke (which was free for my gf because she was "DD," per their menu). The beer and fries arrived in a timely manner, however the server didn't even bring us silverware or napkins, when we asked him to, he handed us unwrapped silverware with his hand directly on end of the forks. We finished the fries before anyone checked up on us or gave us the soda, and as soon as someone did come we asked for our check. The server said she would give us the coke in a to-go cup since we were leaving, yet several minutes later we were still waiting on it. It was nearly sunset, and we knew we were likely to miss the sunset if we waited on these people to bring us the drink, so we just left without it. We asked for a table and he mentioned something about the bar crawl and his servers not having enough tables. Taste: 8/10 The first time I was here, I wasn't sure what to order because they had such a variety of food, but eventually decided on the chicken and waffles. The waffles were a little soggy, but the chicken was delicious! The chicken it came with were wings with honey glaze. It was crispy and the honey glaze added the perfect amount of sweetness! The Westwood location doesn't serve hot wings with honey glaze (which is the same chicken in the chicken and waffles), so I even returned a second time to this location just to order the wings. Experience: 7/10 The first time I came to watch a college football game and we were able to get a nice booth with a large projector. The second time, I tried to order takeout because I just wanted to get some wings. It was very difficult to order takeout, since they don't seem to normally serve takeout. I had to wait around the bar until a waiter noticed me and was able to take my order. It took about 15 minutes to get my order. Disgusted by the waitress working on Sunday 1/21. To the waitress in the lower, downstairs section with blonde hair and overalls, you truly take the cake for the worst service and attitude I've ever encountered in my life. I worked in hospitality for 6 years. I get having a bad day, as I had them many times when I was a waitress. But it was clear to see this girl was mean to the core. The table next to us even told us she rolled her eyes after walking away from our table. We were in awe. We didn't do anything except order and then tip 20% which I sincerely hope she can use part of to get a therapist and personal stylist. I don't ever stand for mean people, as they have a lasting effect that has bothered me since we left on Sunday. She was at heart a bully, and I am disgusted by Barney's for having someone like her as a waitress. All in all, this makes me sad and I have never given a bad review in my life. I worked my way up. I would never hire that girl nor would ever want to be near her ever again. I am disgusted and my family, long time lovers of Barney's (they had their wedding party at Barneys after graduating UCLA), will not be returning either. My niece and I visited Barney's Beanery Sunday, March 13th on our way to her basketball practice. She ordered the Breakfast Bagel with NO Bacon. I know because I repeated her due to the fact she has never had meat in her life! Her mother was a vegetarian while pregnant so my niece has NEVER eaten meat, let alone Pork, EVER! I am sure you all see where this is going... The sandwich came with bacon on it, we sent it back, they obviously Did Not Make Her Another One and Just took the pork off!! Good thing they left a piece on there so that she did not finish eating the bagel after taking a couple bites before noticing. This is unacceptable! If someone says they do not want something on their food, It Is For a Reason! People have allergies and other things you are not aware of and to take it upon yourself to make a decision like that is beyond rude and inconsiderate! My wife and I stopped in this restaurant on the 3rd St., Promenade, Santa Monica, California. It is a sports bar, that has more television monitors and I've ever seen in one place! I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, while my wife ordered a Caesar salad wrap. My dish arrived with ice cold grilled chicken, and way too many onions and cherry tomatoes. My wife's dish was OK I set my dish back and instead of remaking it the kitchen reheated the cold chicken, which dried it out further, and made it taste like shoe leather. I immediately mentioned this to the server, who apologized and reduced our check it by $3.70. It wasn't her fault, but I don't think we're going back to this establishment again, nor can we recommend it. read more

We ordered a pepperoni pizza and the pizza was so thin and oily that all the cheese and pepperoni came off as soon as you took a slice of pizza. I'll get straight to the point... I ordered a Ranchero Omelet while seated at the bar, it was served cold and the portion or actual size was underwhelming. Never once did the bartender/server ask me if the meal was satisfactory, I was hungry and ate a cold tiny omelet nonetheless. I'm at the point of my life where I really don't complain to management anymore when unsatisfied with a meal, I just never go back. The hostess was sweet and sat us right away The server took 10 min just to come to the table to order our drinks. It was Thursday early evening so why so short staffed. There were at least 4 empty tables around us so it wasn't like it was a weekend day during dinner rush. Our waitress would literally disappear. She finally took our order, and didn't come back until we asked for the check. Someone else delivered our food, I had a glass of water and never got a refill!! Horrible, horrible service. Back to the food. It was halfway decent for a pub. We ordered the Philly cheese steak, nachos with chicken and sweet n spicy wings. The sandwich was a nice size, good seasoned meat and perfect about of peppers and cheese to top it off. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The nachos were a little dry, lack of cheese but an overabundance of sour cream and guac on top. The wings were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Sauce was perfectly balanced. The food came out sequentially instead of all together so by the time some people got their food the rest had already finished eating. On top of that, the food was very mid. The Ruben sandwich is one I would not recommend (it was so dry and stiff it cut the roof of my mouth) and the southern chicken salad was just fine (it came with one bell pepper on top I wished was cut instead of there for design). read more

Hi there, I just wanted to give a quick shout out to my bartender Jake! I was meandering the Promenade doing a little early Xmas shopping. Needed a quick bite and came in to Barney's. Hoo boy. Place was SLAMMED. Barely any room, people everywhere, hootin & hollerin. I'm not a sports person at all, so it was very overwhelming. But I was hungry! Found a seat at the end of the bar somehow. Really, I was almost wedged up against the restrooms lol. Bartender politely told me it would be a minute, I didn't mind. By the time he came back to me it had probably been about 15 min. Not his fault. He told me he'd buy me a beer for my patience. Had a nice Corona and a heaping plate of yummy jalapeño cheese puffs. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2018 - 6/100. YEE: Crawl 'Til The Ball Falls: NYE 2018 Bar Crawl. STOP #2. Hubbers and I got a bit hungry. Closest to stop #1 (The West End) we thought about getting a couple of apps and maybe a drink or two here. We were asked by our hostess if we wanted to be seated at a quiet or noisy section. "Noisy," Hubbers requested. We were seated immediately at one of the tables behind the bar. I find it interesting how they sectioned this entire restaurant. The quiet section is downstairs. But upstairs are some games to keep you entertained - air hockey, pool table (covered for the night), shuffle board and the like. Hubbers and I loved our table, though. We were situated at the very end of them high tables. We had a view of practically every TV screen showing different varieties of sports, sports news, etc. We also enjoyed the overall decor. We were given the menu not too long after. Whoa, that's A LOT of food! I guess our eyes were much hungrier than our stomachs because we ended up ordering too much grub! We got Barney's appetizer platter (we shoulda stopped there), a cup of Barney's French onion soup (because I'm a sucker for these things!) and Hubbers wanted to try their tacos al pastor. He was asked if he wanted sides of avocados to go with those (at $1 per order.) He opted for just 1 side order. The French onion soup was delicious. It could have spent a bit longer in the broiler to brown the cheese a little more, otherwise, good. Good amount of cheese commensurate to the amount of onions, croutons and broth. The platter is nothing to sing about. It pretty much compared to many platters I've had at other establishments. Hubbers mentioned they're supposedly known for the chili, but I felt it wasn't as bangin' as he made it sound. The tacos, though, were bomb! Do not let the appearance deceive you. The meat was tender and seasoned with a little pop of spice. The one side order of avocado was enough for 3 and that made a difference with the overall bite. We both liked this a lot. We were enjoying our stay so much that we didn't realize it had been almost two hours since we were initially seated. We even ended up ringing the East Coast's New Year up in here. It got very crowded rather quickly to the point where it was standing room only. The playroom and the quiet area wasn't packed since the bar was where things were happening. (On a side note: there was a lady who was clearly and deeply inebriated that she crashed onto our table as she walked by. No damages, though, she should have been escorted out than letting her sit back to order more drinks at the bar.) Our server came through few and far between as the night went by. Understandably, it is NYE after all. But she clearly was busy, going to and coming from what seemed like everywhere delivering drinks and such. We enjoyed our stop, for sure. 3.5-3.75 for now. Been coming to Barney's for awhile sat at the bar to have lunch. Bartender seem disturbed that i ordered a soft drink! And then he served it in a plastic cup. I tried to order a soup and was informed it was not available. Then told a few minutes later it was... sorry to bother you while you are working! I paid $4 for my two sips of soda and left! Yesterday wife and I went to Barney's Beanery on 3rd Street. We sat down and asked for water without ice and a slice of lemon while we looked at the menu. I asked for extra napkins (didn't have my invisalign case with me). A woman was sitting right behind us and she started mocking me like a little child and saying water with lemon and no ice. I thought she was probably drunk and ignored it... Until she came to our table and got on my face. She asked me how much I tip. Shocked by a stranger with a weird attitude, I didn't respond. She started saying people like me (I'm middle eastern) are such shitty tippers and that she could tell just by looking at me. I told the server about the incident, and let him know I didn't know the woman and she didn't know me. The server said he would talk to the manager and thanked us for not making a scene. Later when the women went to the restroom her friend sitting with her turned around and apologized from us for her friend. That's it. Nothing really happened. Barney's Beanery continued to serve this woman knowing what she did. I'm not sure what motivated this stranger to get up from her table and come to ours, ask questions about how much I tip, then accuse me of being a shitty tipper. From the way she sounded, I guess it was the way I looked. Well, overall it was a good night. We enjoyed our drinks had some sliders, onion rings and calamari. Calamari was on the saltier side, but I recommend the rest. Service was good. It's just that I wish this establishment did something about the incident to show that kind of behavior was not acceptable. read more

I was casually walking the streets of beautiful Santa Monica while I unexpectedly stumbled into this one of a kind, spectacular establishment. I was absolutely dumbfounded by the water I received. It quenched my thirst into the ground. One sip and it felt like my whole body was born again. I asked for my water with lemon and boy let me tell you I had no regrets. This lemon slice changed my life forever. I haven't even gotten my food yet but I will be back in approximately 2 and a half hours for more of this absolutely breathtaking water. Ambiance is frat house dungeon, service was ok, and prices are in line with expectation. My complaint is that 12 hot wings should never cost nearly $26 anywhere. The first order arrived old and cold, but our server quickly addressed. Chicken is expensive everywhere but typically priced about $1.25-1.50/piece. Never have I paid more than $2.25/piece. That's utterly ridiculous. If I'm in the area I may stop in again, but it definitely won't be for the wings. read more
