    Oatmeal griddle cakes
    Alan C.

This place had been on my list for awhile. -TINY spot with VERY limited seating and no bathroom. -Famed oatmeal pancakes were a disappointment. Crunchy exterior and oatmeal interior couldn't make up for how greasy they were compared to other pancakes I've had. -The most interesting part was the cinnamon maple butter. -Don't go out of your way for this. However, I did buy their pre-packaged pancake mix, in the hope that I will be able to make something better at home.

not sure what the hype around this spot is about - been seeing it everywhere and expected above average griddle cakes, however my friend and i were really disappointed. they're soggy, small for 3 pieces, the banana walnut barely had a banana flavor, and chocolate chip was okay. more of a cheap quick diner quality, not worth the price/wait. they dont have any notable attributes of typical pancakes: crispy, fluffy, or even flavored well. just soggy and dense

This has been on my list for some time because of the gf options and no cross contamination which are important for my son. I made it on my most recent visit to SaMo and it did not disappoint. Nice vibe. Good coffee. Apple griddle cakes were AMAZING, and scrambled eggs were tasty, too. Service was good and a table was available without a wait. We were there on a week day, so that may account for quick service and seating.

Did the pancakes need syrup? No. But didn't want syrup? Yes. I had the OG griddle cakes and a side of eggs. The eggs were great. The pancakes (griddle cakes) were great. But I still wanted syrup for them. Breakfast by Salt's Cure's website states, "we do not offer syrup with our Oatmeal Griddle Cakes. Why? You don't need it. The batter itself has the perfect amount of sweetness you seek, and when topped with our Cinny or Sea Salt Butter and a padding of powdered sugar, you are good to go." Ok, that's their philosophy. And the pancakes (griddle cakes) were great, but they still seemed to be lacking something. I'm thinking that something was syrup. I don't think the pancakes needed more sweetness, but I felt the texture would have benefited from a gentle application of syrup. Other people seemed to agree with me. While we were eating, I heard a couple patrons ask for - and be denied - a side of syrup. You order at the counter and then grab a seat. Service was fine, but not particularly wonderful. Seating is limited. We went there at an off peak time and had a short wait for a table. (There were still a bunch of other customers, so it wasn't that off peak.) At peak hours, it seems like it's order at the counter and then hope you get a seat, which seems annoying. But maybe it works better than I'm imagining. The pancakes and eggs were great, so I'll probably go back sometime. But I might bring my own bottle of syrup.

Such sweet service & attentive! We got the pancakes gluten free, and tried the breakfast sandwich with chicken sausage and garbanzo beans. Everything was tasty!! Really impressed by the pancakes!! Cannot miss out on a very filling breakfast!

I've been here a few times and each time it was delicious. The eggs are soft scrambled and so creamy. The griddle cakes are delicious. The OG is my favorite. And the prices are very reasonable.

OG Griddle Cakes with Cinnamon Butter

These are the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. And that is not an exaggeration! I went here once then came back two more times over the next three weeks. The oatmeal griddle cakes are thin and a little crispy, packed with fruits or chocolate and topped with delicious whipped butters. You can even get them gluten-free or vegan! My favorites are the OG with cinnamon butter, pink lady apple, and blueberry. I thought I would love the banana nut but was underwhelmed and the chocolate chip just has chocolate on top so nothing special. But the OG with cinnamon butter is absolute perfection. And pro tip: get the pink lady apple with cinnamon butter, which it doesn't usually come with. The best combo. If you need some protein, the chicken sausage is well-seasoned and tasty or you can get eggs cooked however you like them. The inside is small so you may have to wait for a table, but they get people in and out very quickly so it's never too long. And ALWAYS worth the wait!

The chair and the immovable stool.

Breakfast by Salt's Cure is one of "those" places; a place offering so-so food that somehow creates a neighborhood mystique and manages to get people lining up, mostly people who don't know what's really good. Order at the counter, get a number, wait outside for the cashier to call your number and give you a table, then continue to wait for your food, which likely isn't fired until you're seated. Firing upon seating makes sense, of course, but what they're really doing is creating a wait list for tables but getting you to commit your money first so you don't leave if the wait becomes long. Hmmm. The decor of this relatively tiny spot is basically fast-food-plus. Your local Panera Bread probably provides more atmospheric panache. We were initially seated at a table where my chair was butted up against an unmovable stool bolted to the floor at the next table, so that whoever sat there would be practically engaged to me by the time breakfast was over. We were eventually moved, and so I didn't need to cheat on my wife over eggs, but whoever designed this nook must have been high. At least I hope they were high, because otherwise... ya know? My wife ordered the OG Oatmeal pancakes with cinnamon maple butter. These are paper thin pancakes in the Swedish style, and they were enjoyably tasty. Eggs served a la carte with them were, likewise, nicely prepared. I had wanted a traditional breakfast of eggs, meat, potatoes and toast, but they don't offer that as an option -- if you want it, you have to order each element of the dish a la carte, and doing quick addition in my head I figured that was crazy. So, I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was far, far less successful than the pancakes. An over easy egg with a barely melted slice of cheddar and a thick slice of overcooked, nearly petrified "picnic ham" that was too charred to reveal what it's intended flavor was meant to be. This was topped by an excessive amount of mayonnaise and an "arugula relish" that was essentially an arugula mayonnaise. Together, this mayo duo was like an unctuous spackle, and pretty much killed the sandwich entirely. I removed the top bun, scraped as much of the mayo from the egg as I could, and ate the remainder with knife & fork, but the infusion of heavy mayonnaise flavor and texture was impossible to ignore, and I found the adventure very disappointing. As my wife said, "they're famous for the pancakes," and I agree those were tasty. But between the prices and the missteps, and the fact that a traditional egg breakfast must be ordered with each element a la carte (which is just annoying), I can't recommend this over the many other options along Montana.

Pancakes were good. I tried the Original OG because I just wanted to get an idea of what the taste was like without any additives! Some of the reviews scared me about the texture but tho it was a bit different from regular pancakes, they weren't mushy. I actually liked them without any syrup, I thought the cinnamon butter situation was sweet enough. I also liked that I didn't feel heavy after consuming the pancakes like regular pancakes do! I didn't order any sides and they're pretty thin so 1 person could easily eat the 3 that comes with the order. Service was cool, you order at the register and then you sit!. Just know that there's not a lot of seats so be prepared for the possibility of taking your grub to go..

Salt's Cure in Santa Monica is a cozy little breakfast spot with a small menu that focuses on what they do best--like griddle cakes and sandwiches. We tried the sausage & egg sandwich and the chicken burger. Both were a bit on the salty and saucy side, but still super tasty. The chicken burger comes with a patty instead of a whole piece of chicken, which wasn't what I expected, but it was still really good. One heads-up: they don't offer WiFi, even though a network shows up. Just something to keep in mind if you're planning to hang out for a bit.

Breakfast By Salt's Cure is a top spot for brunch in Santa Monica. They're always busy, so order at the counter and they'll seat you when when your order is ready. There's a small lot behind the restaurant. For the food: The must-try order is obviously the oatmeal griddle cakes. The cinnamon butter takes it to the next level. Add sausage patties for a complete breakfast. They also sell premade Griddle Cake Mix that would make a great host gift.

Came in during a rainy lunch time and the restaurant was empty so seating was a breeze and there is a small parking lot in the back. You order your food at the counter and then they bring it out to you after you seat yourself. We had a variety of food and all had a great texture. The Apple griddle cakes were DELICIOUS - no syrup needed. The hash browns are also a must try. They're crunchy with a wonderful fluffy center. Finally, the eggs are made to your liking - soft, medium, or hard. This is the place for you if you're looking for a place to grab a fast, basic, and delicious breakfast. I loved it!

I'm going to get right to it. If you come here and don't get the griddle cakes, you are doing yourself a huge disservice. Those griddle cakes are what dreams are made of. Crumbly and decadent. Sweet and smooth. Packed with flavor. Everything else on the menu is a bonus to complement the griddle cakes. While the sides are pricey for what they are, they are also fresh and delicious. So, although the menu is smaller, it is quality. We came on Monday at about 12:30 p.m. The service was friendly and quick. The place wasn't too packed on a Monday afternoon, but I have noticed that Breakfast By Salt's Cure gets much busier on weekends. This cute, hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint takes the cake (pun intended) for the best pancakes (griddle cakes) I've had. So, for that reason alone, 5 stars.

We were lucky enough to find a metered street spot directly in front of the restaurant and did not have to wait long at all for our Saturday morning brunch for a table of two. Our server was also very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. I started off with the Iced Maple Latte and thought it was really nice. It was a really sweet treat and I enjoyed it. For my breakfast, I chose the Eggs Benedict with the Sujuk sausage and added avocado and croissant. It was one of the best combos I've had in a long time and I am already eager to go back again to get it. I would highly recommend to everyone and would happily say this is one of my favorite breakfast options around.

We agreed to outside patio seating at tall seats which is more than fine. but we were sat at a shared table with a family which is fine when you have context that you are doing so, but i spent the beginning of the morning listening to two different children play of their phones blasting the sound. additionally both the seats we were in were directly in the sun which for me is fine but my bf burns very easily. but okay fine, it is what it is. We politely waited until the table next to us emptied, and then told the waitress we would like to move because the sun. She said we would need to wait and she would need to check. And then came back and told us they were too busy. We watched the seat we wanted to sit in be empty until we asked for boxes for our food. We watched another table stay empty until we left. The waitress never introduced herself either. Additionally, no one checked up on us during the entire meal. Usually any sit down restaurant would ask how your meal is. No one did. we weren't even given silverware when our meals arrived. we had to go get them ourselves. We had to ask for boxes after sitting and waiting for anyone to check in. We separately had to call out to the oblivious waitress to even pay, as she was standing out there just looking around. The food was great, like i wish we would have had cash to tip the cooks themselves bc the food was really good. But Ive attached photos of the food (great!) and photos of the many empty tables that made them sooo busy they cldnt accommodate the paying costumers that already ordered. my boyfriend and I have both worked in the service industry before. But i would just say that they had horrible service which can ruin a perfectly good meal. I hope if the owner is the one I met at the door, he considers getting new waitresses .

On the Internet on every possible site it says that the restaurant is open till 10 o'clock. In fact, when I went to enter this Yelp also said it's open till 10 o'clock. I walked in at 8:45 asked the people if they were open they said no that it closes in a couple minutes meaning 9 o'clock and that you'd have to order immediately. This is again my pet peeve with restaurants in California. If you're going to close your restaurant at 9 o'clock you must stay open at least an hour after that so people can sit down take their time order their dinner and eat their dinner and then an hour after that you close the kitchen, but you leave it open for dessert for another half hour then people can order their dessert in a calm manner have their dessert and still enjoy their dinner and sit around. This business of having a close time and then telling people they have two minutes to order is a bunch of crap. This doesn't happen in Chicago. It doesn't happen in New York and it doesn't happen at high in restaurants. So if you do this, you're not a high-end restaurant you're a low restaurant. It probably is having trouble staying alive anyway. So don't do this. I will always give you a one or two star review. I have enough followers and you should take my word for it that you can't do this. If you're open till 10 o'clock be open till 10 o'clock and give people time to enjoy their dinner.
