I got a tuna salad sandwich and a New England clam chowder My friends got chips and salsa/guac, the fattest calzone i've ever seen, a burger and fries, and something else i forget.... but they ALL looked delicious and for sure tasted amazing!! I would def come back here. The only reason i gave them a 4 is our waitress had issues with our check. Three out of five of us brought card and we told her how much to put on each, but she kept getting confused. In the end, though, it seemed like everything was settled and i paid 9 bucks for my meal including tip and tax. BUT a couple days later i check my bank account and it says they charged me $18.20..that's over double the amount i got charged for...so uhh yeah -.- so i called and the lady was really nice and said that it should be fixed by the next day. I've been here plenty of times... I've dragged all kinds of friends here at all hours of the day and only ONCE (yesterday) have I had a poor experience with service (& without asking the server deducted 10% off of the bill). The food is great, everything is good so try it all! If you love drinking options, this is the place for beer lovers and liquor lovers the same; and they literally have EVERYTHING, so if you're looking for a good time, you'll find your liquid courage of choice here. It's on a perfect spot on 3rd street, and if you sit outside on a random day, you'll always find entertainment just looking over the patio. Wow, I am shocked at the negative reviews... With that said, LOVE THIS PLACE. I love the eclectic decor, the big comfy booths, and their patio area right on 3rd street, which is where I always sit so I can people watch and enjoy the street performers while eating. The food is always super delicious and fresh and surprisingly, not very expensive. Every time I've come here I've always had exceptional service, the waiters/waitresses are not only friendly but they check on you frequently to refill drinks. Speaking of drinks, I like that they offer Gingerale as a soda, not many restaurants have that option for a beverage. They also have a very extensive menu offering everything from burgers, to fish and chips, to mexican food. I suppose a lot of folks would call Barney's a restaurant, but this is a sports bar and the wall of TVs is proof enough of that. The whole place overwhelms with pop culture from the bathrooms - most enjoyable stall I've ever experienced - to the tables covered in celebrity photos cut from magazines. The menu has a few unique items, but nothing exceptional. The usual - pizzas, calzones, wings, burgers, etc. However, what does set them apart, and which made me feel like I was back in Indiana at a Steak 'n' Shake, was the chili. I opted for the chili sampler platter and was surprised to see how big it was when it arrived. I tried all five varieties of chili and enjoyed the Texas Style the most. The tortilla chip and shredded cheese toppings were a nice touch. Overall, the food is good, but not great, and unless I had no other options to watch a game, I might come here. Place is ok! The only thing that makes this place good is the outside seating on 3rd street area so you can people watch while you eat! I had the Juicy Lucy Burger which was ok. Melted cheese inside the burger patty.. Had a cup of chili which i didn't care for! Service was good. I like the buffalo wings here better! I've always wanted to go to Barney's when I would go to Burbank Mall. Finally came here with my gf's after we went to dinner nearby. We just wanted to hang out and catch up some more. It was a Thursday night, found some seats at the bar, but it was pretty busy. Gary the bartender was super friendly and attentive. Made suggestions. We actually wanted to go to Hooters but kitchen was closed so that's also why we came here. As usual we were craving cheese so we got the Mozzarella Sticks and I'm not sure what it was exactly but I just didn't like them at all. Sad face. The décor is awesome. Seriously, just RANDOM sh*t everywhere I love it. Such a fun bar. Came back this past Saturday evening. Super crackin. I really didn't know there was an upstairs! There's another pool table (but tables nearby so I don't think that would work out that well), BASKETALL and SHUFFLE BOARD. My friends and I had a couple beers and played shuffle board it was awesome lol. Great place to just chill and hang out. Got hungry while walking around 3rd Street, so just decided to check this place out. If you're big on sports + drinks then this is perfect for you. They have a tonnnn of TVs and they're all on various sports. It was mainly focused on football + baseball when I came. There's outdoor & indoor seating. Indoor, there's a bar & tables. The tables really stood out to me. It looked like they went through a bunch of magazines and cut out different people and phrases and pasted it to the table. And each table was different. Very cool. Their menu has a variety of choices including breakfast, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers/hotdogs, pizza, mexican, etc. Really impressed with this. Decided to go with their mexican menu & got 3 soft tacos: fish, shrimp + beef. All 3 were very delicious and filling. And pretty cheap? I thought it would be $4 each for fish & shrimp (cause thats what it said on the menu) but when the bill came out it seemed like all 3 tacos were roughly 2 something each. And this was on a Sunday night around 7/730? Only downside is that I wish they gave me salsa for it. Or just something. My first bite of the beef taco was really dry. Thankfully my boyfriend ordered a fajita which came with a small cup of salsa. Wish they brought out our food faster. I mean its Mexican food....it shouldn't take that long? Idk. We had a visitor from out of town who wanted to try Barney's and he was staying in the area, so Barney's it was. We talked to the host to be seated, he told us it'd take 10 minutes, so we were awaiting near by. But then, we noticed that he was seating other people who were coming from the street, so we went to talk to him and he seated us right away. Why did we have to wait then? He was seating people that were coming after us. Anyways, the place is very loud (hard to have a conversation), it's a sports bar and they have HUGE TVs everywhere, the crowd was rowdy, too. Not my kind of place. But we got in time for their Happy Hour (Mon.-Fridays from 4pm-7pm) and got a few half-off appetizers and beers on draft. They do have a good beer selection (we got New Castles). The appetizers were just OK, pub grub, greasy, nothing sophisticated. We got the big plate of nachos (Half Time) - with cheese, sour cream, fresh guac., beans and chili. I personally didn't love the chili in this combination. We also got their mac&cheese triangles (greasy), just OK, their chicken fingers and fries (their fries are mediocre, fast-food type, had better), and some chili cheese fries (they gave me a stomach ache). Pretty old-fashioned style pub-grub. They need some updating! The service was OK. Overall, I can't say we had a bad experience, not a great one either. Food (of this type) it's just OK. Barney's Beanery is basically your typical sports bar. Lots of big screen TVs everywhere; a great, diversified beer selection with lots of options for both draft and bottled beers; a huge menu of greasy bar food; and pool tables and shuffleboard to play. There are tables outside on the patio, as well as on three levels inside, so needless to say, this place is huge. Know what you're getting yourself into coming here because the food isn't anything special and most things are fried but it's the drinks and ambiance that make this place what it is! Barney's is the perfect place to watch a game or hang out for a chill night. If you're ever in the area, make sure to stop by for Karaoke at 10:00pm on Wednesdays and Trivia Night on Sundays at 9:00pm: both are a BLAST! The trivia is actually doable but still challenging and they give out some bomb prizes (so be sure to stay until the end!), plus the crowd is fun and the servers are attentive and friendly. This location is a little bit of a maze, but clean and with a large bar. The menu also has some items not available at other locations, so be prepared to make some hard decisions! The stars I'm giving to Barney's are mostly for the food. They have many, many choices, including all-day breakfast (YAAAAAS!), pasta, burgers, and salads. I had the chilaquiles, which are tortilla chips dipped in red chile over scrambled eggs, served with guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream, rice, and beans. They were yummy and satisfied my hunger after a long day of sightseeing AND I like that I didn't have to pay extra for guac or sour cream. This location is also on the promenade, which makes for a lively dinner experience and great people-watching. I subtracted some stars because of the service. It was the most HORRENDOUSLY BAD service I've experienced in a long time. Our waiter, Chris, came by exactly twice - once to take our drink orders and once for food orders. No water refills, no "how is everything," nothing. I know what you're thinking: "But Amy, maybe it was busy! How would you feel if you had to wait tables during the dinner rush?" It wasn't actually that busy, as my friend and I got there at the tail end of the dinner rush. There were several empty tables around us, including in his station. AND he walked right by our table multiple times to take orders from people who sat down after us, so it certainly wouldn't have been a Herculean task to check on us or fill our water glasses. The host walked by our table at one point to seat some people and we actually had to ask him for the check because Chris was nowhere in site. Spoiler alert: customers should not have to hunt down their check at a restaurant. It was like once our food was ordered, he wanted nothing to do with us, which is the opposite of how service should be. I do like Barney's Beanery because it's iconic and has delicious food as well as a big menu, but if Chris' service was the benchmark for how customers are treated on a regular basis, that's a problem and the servers need some lessons. read more

If you think it sucks, then do tell me a place where I can get a fab one here in LA. I ordered a 1/2 rack on ribs with bbq sauce. 1/2 rack- Nothing special, first bite was really good because I was really hungry. But then as I ate it, it was just ok. I would order it again. I would choose fries instead of Onion rings. O and the BBQ (because you can choose terriyaki) I would ask for it on the side in case you dont like it. Fish n chips- Again I haven't had much fish n chips all my life. All I remember is nasty frozen flat fish. You don't get that here. Their fish n chips is the best fish I've ever had in my life. Fried just right and the fish tasted really fish and thick enough that the batter doesn't feel over powering. You should order this and try it when you come. Supreme pizza- I didn't eat this but everyone said it was a little soggy. But why eat pizza when you are at a place like this? Stay away from this. Overall, food was pretty good and I will come back. The only big problem I had was with the service. The waitresses feel fake. They come only when they are here to serve. And our waitress didn't even served us. Just only the damn rude ass bus boy served us who dropped our spoon and didn't bother bringing another.. what did I do? I made him take away my nasty French Onion Soup. Why the four star? I have been to the Pasadena locAtion quite a few times and I love it! This location, not so good. Two stars because the hostess was friendly and they have a cool patio overlooking the promenade to people watch. Our server, who never told us her name, was not friendly. I understand people have off days but she most definitely didn't want to be there waiting on us. She returned only once in the whole time we were there so we had to get refills and the check in the same time! Just in case she never came back. I ordered clam chowder, which said 'New England clam chowder' I LOVE New England style chowder and my friends it was not! It was very weird they added vegetables and bacon and whatever seasonings to make it yucky. I was so disappointed! To top it all off, every SINGLE piece of silver ware has gunk on it. This place is huge and great during or for football season. The property is deceiving with the small patio styled front seating. Yet walk inside and be wowed by multiple televisions in of a two story monstrosity. Places with this sort of Dave and Busteresque ginormousness can be a put-offish. I immediately recognized how short handed the staff was and gave them the benefit of the doubt by politely requesting my game of choice at my table this didn't happen for thirty minutes. SoI supplemented my loss of viewing game pleasure with the "viewing party" that my alma mater was having up stairs which didn't bode well with my other half tho my sun seemed to think the goose all machine and the pool table were automatic yes's for him. The food fare was below at best the service was slow-the bartender forgot the first drink we ordered while the food came on time it wasn't any different than fast food which is sad. The waiters and waitresses danced confused and short handed from table to table and it showed which made every game on television something of a mirage. I love all the TVs here! You can watch any game, anywhere, anytime! My friends and I came here yesterday, on a busy Sunday, to watch the Warriors game. We were seated inside, sort of half-downstairs. First off, if you're coming here for the first time like I was, the menu is HUGE. They have everything you could possibly want at a sports bar and then some. My friend and I shared the Nacho Mama's Nachos and the 15-piece Hot Wings, half buffalo and half sweet & spicy. Food wasn't mind-blowing, but it's good bar food. I liked the sweet & spicy wings, and I also appreciated the fact that they weren't just completely smothered and dripping with sauce. The nachos come on this ginormous plate, so plenty to share. This is a great place to watch the game because they had both ESPN and ABC on, so even with the game delay yesterday afternoon, we were still able to watch the entire Dubs game on the next screen over. I also saw a big projector screen in the next room over, where people were watching and cheering. Service was also great. Barneys is a chain. Standard bar with standard bar food. The college kids like it no doubt. I've had their food at multiple locations, and its fair, but nothing worth going out of your way for. They are typically located in a busy shopping area, and attract the expected crowds just like any other sports bar. What bothers me is that because they know they have a steady stream of tourists / window shoppers, they tend to lack in the service department. We tried to come in with a group to watch a sporting event, and were promptly told to just give up and try elsewhere because the wait was too long... that's not very polite, is it? Perhaps you could have apologized, recommended a nearby bar, and possibly even invited us back another night for a complimentary drink? Imagine that! read more

Had to wait 30 minutes for a table, which was okay, when I got in the waiter LEON served us drinks and took our order of food, one hour passes and no food came in, we get up to ask and his answer is "what did you order again?" He never put our order in and never checked in with us for one hour. I would try to understand the mistake if it was a busy night, but the restaurant was completely empty. Worse service ever and we did not even got an apology. Place was pretty dead anyway comparable to other restaurants around, and with a service like that I understand why. I came here with some friends on a Saturday and I ordered the Flying Dog: Doggie Style beer. It came in a bottle and was fairly good for $5.50. The waitress was nice, but she was not very attentive. A male server had to come to our table multiple times in order to pass along what was needed to our waitress. Other than that I liked my experience. Things to improve on would be to offer a beer or appetizer special of the day. I am used to going to the Westwood location. I thought that they would have similar prices, but the Westwood location has more specials on beers on tap than this Barney's location does. We waited over an hour for our food and after the meal she had the audacity to tell us that if we we're barely going to tip, to tell her beforehand so she could refuse us service.(Which I think is illegal to refuse service on the grounds of not receiving a tip.) I dont understand how she can just walk in circles around her tables and have that authority complex like she deserved getting a tip. Maybe if your restaurant payed your employees better wages, they would give better service. Whenever I went, I always ordered the burger and fries and ​it was always so good, the cheese was melted to perfection, the buns were perfectly buttered, and the patty was so delicious. But this time, Barney's Beanery was not the same at all. When I walked in I was immediately seated which was nice. After around 20 minutes we had to call a server over to order our food. After waiting around 15 minutes, I knew something was wrong right off the bat when they BRANG out my burger.. I was in complete misbelief! I opened up the burger to see two small patties stacked on top of each other and what looked like McDonald's cheese, BARELY MELTED ONTO THE BURGER alongside with these nasty, dry looking buns. My friend also mentioned that her food came COLD. The only thing that was warm out of the three meals that we ordered was this nasty burger. Since we had been walking and shopping all day, we just decided to eat our food anyway. Lastly, when I finished my meal I decided I would go to the bathroom and oh my goodness! I walked into the stall not expecting a smudge of poo on the toilet seat with toilet paper all over the floor. I ate at Barney's yesterday with a bunch of friends. We chose the restaurant because it had a cozy outdoor seating area that was perfect for a warm Saturday morning. Even though the place was packed, they were still able to seat us in less than 20 minutes (if you give them your cell phone number, they text or call you when your table's ready). There were a few mishaps along the way. Two people from my group ordered coffee and one cup came with an inch of coffee grounds in the bottom of the cup. One person ordered toast and the toast came with an obvious mold spot on the crust. Another person ordered eggs benedict and the English muffins were not toasted. (I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was perfectly delicious.) HOWEVER, I was really impressed with the way Barney's dealt with the entire situation. They replaced everything quickly and without question, which is all we really hoped for, but when the waitress brought the bill, we were pleasantly surprised to see that they had discounted our entire order because of what had happened. It took us way to long before he took our order Food/Drinks - They're supposed to be known for their "world famous" chili, so I ordered a Texas Chili bowl that came w/ jalapeno corn muffins. The chili was pretty good, but doesn't live up to the hype. The two corn muffins that it came with were good too, but they were about the same size as those $0.25 gumballs some stores have in. Got some jalapeno poppers too. They were good, but the ranch dressing they came w/ was really watery. $8.50 for a Maker's Mark - they're definitely keeping a REALLY close eye on pour counts here. Generous with the ICE, but stingy with the alcohol. Misc. - I like the outside seating. If you want to people-watch or just get some fresh air while eating, they've got a good # of tables outside for you.
