I am leaving 5 stars bc I don't want to hurt their business. However my true review is that the Peking duck takes a VERY LONG TIME. We ordered other dishes, which came and we ate. And then we waited another 45 minutes for the duck. We were already full by the time it came out. With that said, the duck was tasty. Just be aware they have not yet sorted out their service aspect. My true rating would be 3 stars for that reason. Even after the Peking duck came, no one seemed to care or apologize for how long it took. One more note: the wrapper/cucumber/scallion etc is only a few pieces. How do they expect you to enjoy Peking duck without the wraps to enjoy the entire duck they carved. Considering the 45 minute wait between dishes, they could have comped some more wraps. But they did not. The service was also very poor as they barely checked on us during the long wait. read more

Okay, this is not your grandfather's Baron's. Something has changed. Every year or so my family drives over to Bellevue for their Beijing Duck. In the past we would order other dishes just for a little variety but not because they were delicious. That's no longer true. The menu is expanded. There's lots of choices besides the duck that are worth ordering. Well, worth is another question. Nothing is inexpensive. The cost of the duck, plus tax and tip might be enough for a meal at another restaurant! I lived in Beijing for most of the 1980s. During this time foreigners like me were still considered honored guests so I often was invited to eat 北京烤鸭。Roast duck. For most Chinese, eating this is a rare treat for special occasions. Baron's duck is as good as any I have eaten in Beijing. Unfortunately until yesterday it was the only good dish there. They must have a new chef. In addition to duck, we had 干炒牛河、wagu beef, sea bass and a shrimp dish. All excellent. The place was very busy. Lovely ambience, a bit different from many other Chinese restaurants, which appear to want to express that they want to put their money into the food, not the decor. Actually I believe the owner is not Chinese and most of the servers weren't either. Speaking of service, it was just okay. For the price you could expect more. It may be not for another year or two, but we'll be back. read more

New chef new recipes... We'll be coming back more often. Came here for lunch with my mom and as soon as the MaPo Tofu was put on the table, I knew it was going to be good. We've come here for lunch before and the food was ok.. not food you would expect this restaurant to put out. Lunch specials you get Hot and Sour Soup and it reminded me of the kind I grew up on. It's a pretty decent single serving and so happy it was cause it's so good. Definitely not the same soup we had before. The Mapo Tofu was delicious. It wasn't saucy or soupy like it was before, great spices and it's a huge portion. The Kung Pao prawns were excellent. We thought we'd get 5 prawns but there were a lot! The flavor was excellent. Food was amazing when it eventually got to me. The only little problem was the service... this could have been because I was alone so I sat at the bar. It was quiet but a little too much. Went in the middle of the day on a Monday and was able to be immediately sat. We came specifically for the Peking Duck. The service was quick and they validated parking! Service was kind and very attentive. The Peking Duck was delicious, they carved it in front us of and gave the leg and wing which was a nice touch! The duck tasted really good, not too oily but still keeping the duck flavor. My only complaints would be the amount of wrappers given, too few and have to pay for extra, as well as the amount of cucumbers and spring onions needed more but enjoyed how each person got there own personal dish with sauces, spring onion, cucumbers. We also order bao buns which were delicious, such fluffy dough and a really nice start to meal. Loved the presentation and kind staff. Would come back if I'm the area again. read more

I pretty much come here exclusively for the Peking duck, and if you're smart about it, go on a Monday for the 30% off deal -- makes the price a lot easier to swallow. The duck itself is really good, and the green beans with pork were a solid side -- had a nice little kick that helped cut through the richness. Pro tip: order the pu-erh tea. It pairs perfectly with the duck and does a great job washing down the oiliness. Highly recommend it. One gripe: the wraps and condiments that come with the duck are pretty stingy for the price point, and extras cost you. You will almost certainly need more, so just budget for that upfront. Service is fine but nothing to write home about. Ambiance is nice though. If you're in Bellevue and craving Peking duck, this is the spot. Pricey, but the duck delivers. read more

Not worth the price. The pecking duck was a major disappointment, especially the way pieces were cut. The braised pork belly was not tender enough and carried some gaminess. We were back again this year and it was just as great as ever. The restaurant is always lively and busy, but the staff somehow still manages to be incredibly friendly and welcoming. What really stood out this time was that the waiter we had last year actually remembered us and stopped by our table just to say hi. That kind of personal touch says a lot about the place. We also have a toddler, and they've always been very relaxed and accommodating. If we need to walk around with him for a bit, no one makes a big deal about it, which parents will definitely appreciate. We started with drinks, and I have to shout out the Fire Breather Dragon--it's made with mezcal and has a really nice kick. Highly recommend if you like something smoky with a little heat. Of course, we always come for the Peking duck, which never disappoints. We ordered a bunch of dishes family-style so everyone could try a bit of everything: - Pickled garlic cucumber salad (so refreshing and one of my personal favorites) - Seafood noodles - A fish dish - Black pepper wagyu sirloin We also tried to order the special fresh lobster, but unfortunately they were out that night. The kitchen did send over a spicy duck platter, which was a nice surprise. Honestly, everything was great, but my personal favorites were the seafood noodles and the black pepper wagyu sirloin--both were packed with flavor. The worst service for HH!!! Server forgets your drink order, brings your food orders that you didn't order but she argues with you and then says, sorry I may have misunderstood. As we watch her walk back to the bar , obviously she talks about our table as the entire crew looks at us. The service was horrible but food was such bad quality. Tofu on HH was so hard and dry we could barely eat it. So surprised this place is still open despite the poor food quality and horrible service. Was here for a wedding, we were served with a wide range of Chinese dishes. All of them are very good, and the following 2 dishes are the most stand out! Black Cod with ginger: Great heat from the wok enhanced the flavour of ginger and freshness of cod. The sauce is flavourful and each bite of fish's are soft. Beijing duck: The chief prepared a whole duck for the table. You can made the warp yourself with few slices of duck, cucumber, sugar and oyster sauce. The duck is hot and juicy! We had high hopes for Baron Sino Kitchen & Bar, but the experience was disappointing. Service was extremely slow--we waited a long time just to place our order, and even saw another guest struggle for nearly 20 minutes to get his check. The pacing of the meal was also off. Appetizers arrived well into the meal, and the signature Peking duck came out only after other dishes were cold or finished. While the duck itself was flavorful and well prepared, the other dishes fell flat. The fried eggplant was mostly heavy breading with barely any pork, the vegetarian noodles were undercooked with an unpleasant texture, and only the green beans were decent. To make matters worse, we ordered the duck rack but after waiting over 30 minutes, after the main duck dish came out, with no sign of it, we eventually had to cancel. That, more than anything, highlighted the lack of coordination between the kitchen and service staff. Overall, the experience did not match the restaurant's price point or its promises. Baron Sino Kitchen & Bar is a shell of what it used to be--we visited about five years ago and the food and service were far superior then. read more

We showed up to an empty restaurant and were seated right away. The drinks were delicious -- the lychee martini was especially great. Unfortunately, the food experience was pretty disappointing. When we first looked at the menu, we were told they were out of dumplings. Not just one kind -- all dumplings. That's a pretty core dish for a Chinese restaurant, so it was surprising. The cucumber salad was also lacking flavor, and the spare ribs were just okay. After we ordered, another guest sat down and was told about the happy hour menu. We were surprised because no one had mentioned it to us. When we asked to see it, we found that it actually had a better selection -- including dumplings, which we had just been told they were out of. That was frustrating and definitely changed our experience. If we had been given the happy hour menu from the start, the night probably would have gone very differently. I did notice they're currently looking for a new chef, so hopefully some improvements are coming. The ambiance here is elegant and moody. Our server was cool in the beginning, but definitely got the feel over the course of the dinner that he would've rather been elsewhere lol. When it comes to food the best dish of the night had to be the prawn curry hands down. It was so flavorful and was a healthy portion. The spicy soup dumplings were also good, though hard to get out of the container without puncturing them as they were stuck to the paper. The noodle dish was below average. I was upset with how little flavor it had. I've also never had flavorless peking duck until last Friday. For the duck to be $88 I was expecting more, but I guess you're just paying for the "performance" from the gentleman who comes to your table to carve the meat for you. I'm so glad I saw him at a prior table as well because they leave sooo much meat still attached to the bird/bones & just discard it in the kitchen, leaving you with like 20 pieces of cut meat. Baron's has a mixed menu overall. The Peking duck is solid, and the fish dishes are good. I would skip the mapo tofu, and all of the fried rice dishes were pretty mid. If you're choosing between dishes, the crab vermicelli is a better option than the lobster rice. I'd also skip dessert here. Our lunch experience was unfortunately disappointing, especially given our expectations for a higher-end restaurant. Three of us ordered the passion fruit shrimp appetizer, a whole Peking duck, shrimp dumplings, and siu mai. The restaurant was not very busy, but there were long waits between each course--often more than 30 minutes. Even getting water refilled or requesting a new water cup took quite a while. We were also surprised by the portion of the Peking duck. Although we ordered a whole duck, the amount of sliced meat served appeared noticeably smaller than the whole duck served at the table next to us. When we asked about it, the waitress said, "It was a whole duck, but yours might have been a little smaller. Let me get you a nice box of duck bones." (Customers have the option to take the bones of the duck you ordered home to make dishes). She later brought us a box of duck bones and told us it was the heaviest box. I found this response quite strange. Why I need a heaviest box of bones if it wasn't the duck served to my table? For a high-end restaurant, this does not seem like an appropriate way to address a concern about receiving a noticeably smaller portion. We also found the additional charges somewhat high, including $10 for an extra portion of pancakes and $4 for an additional condiment plate. The dim sum was another disappointment, as it did not taste freshly prepared and seemed more like reheated frozen items. Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations in terms of service, portion size, and food quality. Based on this visit, I would not recommend this restaurant and would not return. read more

Go-to place for roast duck! We came for the Mother's Day combo so there were limited options compared to normal dinner, but it was a lovely evening. The sauce used for the duck is a tad sweeter than I'm used to (authentically speaking) and they don't give nearly enough pancakes for the duck. The refills are also pretty pricey at $4 for 12. The pea vines in broth were very tough and not at all what I was hoping for. The flavor was pleasant but they were really chewy so we had to reach for some floss after. Kung pao prawns and chicken were pretty tasty and flavorful, kung pao is a mysterious flavor profile in the first place so every place does it differently! Love the duck egg buns here. Double-tipped on auto-gratuity, promised a fix, but still charged incorrectly! Check your statements carefully. I had dinner here with a party of 4. When the server brought out the initial bill, I noticed they had already automatically included a 20% "Large Party/Prime" gratuity， but additionally tacked on another 20% tip on top of it. I pointed out this double-tipping error on-site. The server re-issued a corrected receipt showing an itemized discount/credit of the additional tip. I was under the impression the issue was resolved right there. To my frustration, when I checked my credit card statement later, I was STILL charged the full unadjusted amount (including the duplicate tip)!Fortunately, I kept the final corrected physical receipt as proof and have already filed a formal dispute with my credit card company. I just had the feeling at that moment that they would have this full unadjusted amount charging issue. If you dine here, ALWAYS double-check your itemized receipts for hidden/auto gratuities, and verify your actual credit card charges afterward. Terrible transparency and service experience. read more

Walked past this many times and finally got some time to check it out. We tried a couple of items during dinner time. The black pepper beef wagyu sirloin was crispy on the outside and soft inside and was a very good complement to the Wok fried udon noodles. We also tried the soup dumplings. They were all pretty good. Personally I feel that the quantity to price of soup dumpling is a bit too steep. The service was okay. They have a default 2% charge for the kitchen staff. Food was pretty good - 4/5 stars Pretty classy joint and I would think of this place as Asian fusion rather than straight typical Chinese cuisine (e.g. like a Chinese restaurant). This is why the name of the restaurant has "Sino" in it. The service is good but I really hate the lady that ushered me away from the Bar area. I had a baby I was trying to get to "nap" and there was literally no one at the Bar and it was the quietest place. She said "Sir, please exit the bar area cause no one under 18 is allowed." No "sorry sir", no nothing -- just a demand. I understand if it's a rule and the restaurant could get in trouble -- I had no clue and there were no signs saying that the bar area is 18 and over. Not like my 7 month old is gonna be like, "Can I get a whisky on the rocks? House pour please." I won't be spending $1200 for dinner here again for drinks and food for the larger party. Has a pretty big restaurant seating on one side, and then a smaller section with small tables and the bar on the other side. We went for happy hour at about 4pm on a weekday, and there was hardly anyone there. This review is for their happy hour, which has a smaller discounted menu. The food is mostly dimsum items, and there's a list of drinks as well. The dimsum is pretty affordable, $5-7 per item, and even the platter was $13. We got the platter and a bunch of dimsum items. They tasted decent enough. Not as good or authentic as a nice dimsum restaurant, but no big complaints and pretty good considering the price. The lychee martini I got was sweet, which I liked. Total was $70 which is very reasonable, and we were full and didn't need dinner. Service was really good. read more

However, we were sad that because we sat in the bar, they didn't cut the duck at our table and it wasn't given as an option when we ordered. We even double checked that ordering it in the bar and in the dining are wouldn't be any different which the server said it would be the same. However, after it was delivered, we watched as people in the main dining area got to watch their duck cut, table side and see the rest of the full duck. We were a bit sad. read more

Plus the order of dishes honestly felt out of order. Ordered the duck, which came first then sio mai came last but not together. Veggies came last with the rive. Their reasoning is they make the food from scratch and that it was busy. Was also told at the time that the rice was running low, hence why they only gave us one bowl per type of rice for 6 people. With them saying the kitchen was closing near closing time, we honestly thought we werent getting our food. We even arrived an hour before close like everyone else, but we didnt even get our food til near closing time and didnt leave the restaurant til about 3:30. There were still people waiting for their food. Overall, the food is great, service was terrible, and the wait time is long. I do not recommend to dine in. My friend wanted to come here for her birthday on a Monday because the Peking Duck is discounted to $58 (original $88). It was my first and last time at this restaurant because it's overpriced for small, flavorless dishes. It's outrageous how expensive each dish was and how small the portions were. With a table of 6 people and 5 dishes, it wasn't enough. I honestly considered eating fast food after this experience. The Black Truffle Fried Rice hardly had flavor, you definitely couldn't taste any truffle. When the Peking Duck came out, my other friend and I were like, "Where's the rest of it?" The Sautéed Green Beans looked like it was seasoned, but it also lacked flavor. In my opinion, the best dish was the Wok Fried Beef Udon Noodles. If you want good Chinese food, I'd recommend checking out the C-ID. This restaurant seems to cater to bougie folks on the Eastside, which is totally fine. It is a very fancy dining experience and they do have beautiful interior decor. But personally, I prefer amazing food than vibes. read more

First impression is everything, this is a BIG failure! First dish came out while we waited for the Peking duck is the signature Baron dish Waygu black pepper steak. The chef(of you can even call them that) must have never heard of sugar. The dish covered is salt. I was able taste heavy chunks of it. He definitely did not know how to toss the wok at all, there's different flavor of either MSG or Salt, buying else. I'm not ery hopefully if their prize peking duck. It finally came out, it's really nothing special. For a high priced restaurant, you would think they set some sort of dress code. The quality does not come with the price at all.
